Whew! Friends, it has been a FUN but kind of crazy last few days! First, Erika and I headed down to Austin to be a part of Jamie Ivey LIVE, then, I was back by noon on Saturday to hit up Oktoberfest with my fam and then on Monday, Andrew and I flew to New York to see my Sox play his Yankees. SO MUCH FUN!
We’re heading home from NYC today, but in the meantime, here’s a little recap of some of the fun we’ve been having…
On Friday morning, I picked up Erika and we headed to the airport to fly to Austin so I could be one of the two people at her Friday night Jamie Ivey Live event.
Let me back track…so, Jamie Ivey (the amazing podcaster) has two weekends a year where she hosts an event for women and has two of her former podcast participants come up on stage for a live interview. I was super pumped in the spring when she asked me to be a part of it this last weekend. She would be interviewing myself and Amy Brown (from the Bobby Bones Radio Show).
Now, from our front door to Austin, it’s typically about a 4 hour drive, but with it being Texas/OU weekend plus Baylor having a home game in Waco, we decided to fly their instead (only a 35 minute flight!) and skip the crazy traffic (some people who drove told me it took them over 6 hours). So, Erika and I had the most relaxing and easiest day getting to the event outside of Austin at the Wanderin’ Star Farms in Dripping Springs. Side note, I’m wearing that AMAZINGLY SOFT TOP that I told you about in this picture. It’s SO COMFY!!
We arrived at the event venue and they had a cute little cabin for us to stay the night. I typically use the GlamSquad app when I do things like this, but they’re not in Austin, so I found BeGlammed and used them instead for my hair and makeup. Isn’t it pretty? They showed up, put my hair in a cute pony, did my makeup and we were ready to go!
I was honestly having so much fun that I forgot to take a lot of pictures. I bet there were about 125ish people there total. It was in a beautiful covered outdoor area (a few pics below) and they had done a fantastic job fixing it up for the night. We had a blast in the photo booth, they had popcorn, drinks, a BBQ dinner…it was perfection!
Looky there! It’s me and Jamie Ivey!! She and her husband Aaron were as wonderful in person as you would expect from her podcast and their social media. I absolutely love her.
See how pretty?
It was such a wonderful night! I am so honored and blessed that they asked me to be a part of it.
The next morning, we were back at the airport and took that quick flight home to see our peeps…
I’m so thankful that I have this girl to do things like this with. Erika makes it so much more fun for me!! (And psssst: that’s that sweatshirt I love so much! It comes in multiple colors but I love the pink paradise.)
We were home before noon, and then it was time for me to grab my family and head to…
Last weekend, we did Oktoberfest in our town, and then this week, we did it in my parents’ town 🙂 .
My parents were on vacation, so it was just us six hitting up Southlake’s Oktoberfest. We. Had. So. Much. Fun!
They had live music! I wanted to dance, but my kids told me no. Hahahaha!
Gosh, I love these four so much! We arrived at 4:00 and stayed until almost 9!
This girl 🙂 .
I love me a pierogi! I picked two corned beef ones with sauteed onions. DELISH!
Root beer all around!
At one point, Rapunzel walked by. Look at Madeley’s face. She loves her a princess!
Everyone stopped to get their face or arm painted.
This, my friends, made my heart burst…
When it was Ashby’s turn, she just pushed up her sleeve on her right arm and asked him to put a rainbow there. I have no idea why (because the other two girls had their cheeks painted), but this sweet girl wanted her arm painted. My heart. I very, very, very much appreciated how the nice man didn’t say a single then about it.
Her beautiful rainbow 🙂 .
A boy and his snake. Hahahaha!
This munchkin wanted her cheek painted…
…so proud 🙂 .
Everyone showing off their body art!
Family pic attempt part one. It was very sunny and bright. Later, we came back and tried again…
…still not great. Hahaha! We love Oktoberfest so much!!
We partied into the night.
Here they are in line to do kid things!
Ashby really can’t do bounce houses, but she sure can do these bounce obstacle courses!
And she loved the tall inflatable slide too!
We were having so much fun!
Ice cream with sprinkles? Yes, please!
This boy wanted chocolate dipped in chocolate. He’s so sweet!
We finished off our night on the boat ride!
Oktoberfest 2018 in the books!
I just love traditions like this!!
Happy Tuesday, friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful fall day wherever you are!! xo
