Ah! This week, I checked a big item off of my bucket list…I went to Game One of the World Series with my dad!!
How fun is that?!
Here are a few pics from our day in Boston…
Up bright and early! I met my dad at the airport at 5:15! We loaded up and landed in Boston before noon.
The weather was crisp, cold, a little rainy and perfect for us. We walked and walked all afternoon. First stop? Lunch at Joe’s!
I don’t take for granted that I get to spend this time with my dad.
Grilled cod sandwich with a cup of clam chowder? Yes, please!!!!
After lunch, we kept walking…
…the trees were beautiful!!!
It started raining on us while we were out…
…so we grabbed Starbucks and enjoyed watching the people.
Since it was raining pretty hard, we decided to stroll through their nice, big mall. They have this really cool place there called Eataly that they don’t have in our area. I love looking at all the food!!!
It makes me happy 🙂 .
After that, we got ready for the game and headed towards the stadium…
…bundled up and ready to go!
We got there early so that we could hop inside Cask ‘n Flagon (a pub/bar next to the stadium) for some pregame fun! The energy was unbelievable !!!
Finally, it was time to enter the stadium!
A pic from every win this season…with FOUR spots left to go!!! (Only two to go as of today!!!!!!!!)
Of course, we stopped by to check on our brick…
Then, we grabbed food and headed to our seats. Pulled pork for me please!
We ate under the grandstand while it finished raining. It completely stopped raining by game time!
A pic from our seats!
Players coming out to warm up.
Our starting pitcher, Chris Sale, walking to the bullpen.
Game ONE of the WORLD SERIES!! The stadium was going CRAZY!!!
Alex Cora for the WIN this season!!!
I snapped these pics right before the National Anthem. Look who sang it…
…James Taylor!!!!!
I had several sweet blog readers send me this…
Hahahaha! How fun! We made the local news on FB!
Game time! We sat by the NICEST people!! They all were season ticket holders (so they knew each other), but they made us feel right at home. They were incredibly sweet! We all hugged, cheered and high fived all night long!
AND THAT’S A WIN!!!!!! What an amazing game!!!!!!
We sang Dirty Water and cheered the Sox on as they left the field.
BEST game we’ve been to!!! IT WAS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!
How fun is that?!
I am so thankful for sweet Andrew who handles EVERYTHING while I’m gone so that I can do stuff like this. I guess it’s a good thing his team lost so that he could stay with the kids 😉 .
I will remember this game until the day I die. It was such a blessing to get to experience it with my sweet dad.
Happy Friday, everyone! xo

This looks like so. much. fun!! Can I just say– your Dad looks like the nicest man on the face of the earth! And when you recorded your phone call with him, and shared it with all of us, he sounded like the nicest man on the face of the earth! Love this special bond you have with him. You’re lucky to have it!

Such treasured memories. My dad is gone now but he loved Nascar racing as do I and we would go off to races,at different tracks and those are some of the very best memories I have

Awe what a sweet and memorable experience with your dad! Love it! Go Sox!!!

What a wonderful memory! We went to the World Series Game 6 in 2014 when the Royals played the Giants and Game 2 in 2015 when the Royals played the Mets. We took 2 of our 3 boys with us and it was WORTH EVERY PENNY! Such great memories with them (and we saw 2 wins)! I will never forget that. Good Luck to the Red Sox!

What a fun night and what special memories!

How do you buy your baseball tickets…stubhub or something else? Also, is your brother not into baseball? Think it’s fun this is a dad/daughter thing but was just curious.
Mix and Match Mama says
Stubhub!! And Sean is a Rangers fan…but not a huge one (he didn’t go to a game this year or anything like that).
Alexis deZayas says
So glad y’all got to do this together!! What a great memory!
Russanna Cook says
I have been to a good number of major league ballparks and Fenway has the best ballpark food, hands down! Even their french fries are amazing. So fun to see your pictures of the game!
jamiepottle says
Are you a season ticket holder? I went to a game in April and sat next to one who said that she sells most of her games, but then goes to the ones she can. Sounded like a good plan!
Mix and Match Mama says
We’re not, but that sounds like a great plan!
Mary Merrill says
So sweet you get to experience this with your dad and so glad you both love our city!

Coming from a Boston girl I love that you & your dad are such huge fans! What a great game to experience with your dad! Looks like you had a blast. ?

Looks like you had a great time with your dad. Those are great memories you will treasure forever. I’m a Yankees fan and I once went to the World Series game when they actually won the series so I can appreciate how exciting your night was. And yes, I am rooting for the Red Sox to go all the way!
Kim says
So much fun. It’s awesome to see others who have very close relationships with their parents. It’s such a blessing, and some people just cannot understand it! My dad and I hit Cedar Point very year for a weekend together, because we’re the only two rollercoaster enthusiasts in the family! ??
Kim says
I got to go to game 5 last year for the astros (aka one of the greatest World Series games in history) and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life! What a special thing to share with your dad. Truly once in a lifetime.
Stacy Grant says
Game 5 last year was EPIC at home! All of my friends that went didn’t care to go to work tired. I STILL watch the highlights. So fun you were there too! I’m salty this year towards the Red Sox but they certainly outplayed our boys.

How wonderful that you get to experience such fun with your Dad. Your pictures are memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for sharing!!!

We must have crossed paths multiple times this day! I was also in Eataly and Cask n Flagon before the game! What a fun day! Such high energy! If they end up back in Boston, you can find me at game 6! I’ll have to stop by your brick, it must be good luck!

We live in GA but my family is from up north so we grew up going to Cape Cod every summer and are big Red Sox fans. My youngest sister is getting married tomorrow, so all the extended fam will be down here and it has now been dubbed World Series wedding! Haha we are all so excited they are in it, and there will be no controlling the partying going on if they win it! So fun you do these trips with your dad. Fenway is an awesome place
Jocie says

Your dad’s reaction face after the win is just perfection 🙂
Having lost my daddy in May, I just am so happy for others who know what time with your father means. Especially in such an epic game like the World Series.

There really is no feeling like game night at Fenway! My husband and I say they are going all the way, as we got married there in July! I got excited all over again looking at your pics with your Dad. My Dad was diehard SOX fan…wish he had gotten to go with me. Making memories is the best. 🙂 Ready for tonight!!

That’s so awesome! Nothing like Fenway Park – in October nonetheless! I surprised my husband with tickets to Game 4 of the 2007 World Series when Boston beat the Rockies. It was amazing!

How FUN to share this with your dad!!! I went to several World Series games in 2014 and 2015 when the Kansas City Royals were in it, and there’s nothing like that atmosphere! I got to share it with my brother, and we had been waiting for that moment for 30 years! And I went to Boston for the first time this summer and used a ton of your suggestions.
Go Sox!!
Emily says
What an incredible memory to share with your dad! Hopefully next year when the Yankees are in the World Series, I’ll get to experience it with my dad 😉
Leanne Gilchrist says
Shay, the fact that your dad is so healthy and vital to be able to love on your kids and take part in you lives, that’s irreplaceable! I grew up without a daddy, and, to see these pics of your bond with him, it’s incredibly precious. Seeing my husband with out girls, and our sons, well, there’s nothing better. I work with a baseball fan young man, and he’s pretty certain the Sox will win the series! Sigh. Life isn’t measured in the material, but in every single breath, every moment, and never taking it for granted! Gratitude is like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it gets! Thanks for the awesome peek into your best day ever! <3
Mix and Match Mama says
You’re so sweet, Leanne. Thank you so much!
Taylor says
Shay, your skin looks amazing! What products are you currently using? Happy Friday 🙂

What an awesome experience! Especially sharing it with your dad. Cherish these special moments!

What a “bucket list” moment. and how wonderful you and your dad got to be a part of Game One’s march to victory. I am here in New England and really don’t think it has sunk in that it’s all over and we won. Wow, what a season, what a manager, what a team! And, so many great stories out there about the unsung charitable work done by many of these players. Just nice guys. I have to say that I get such enjoyment that you and your dad are diehard fans. Thanks for sharing this with us.

So glad to see Red Sox fans everywhere! I live in Boston – if you ever need restaurant recommendations next time you’re in for a Red Sox game let me know!
