It’s Friday Eve!
Before I get to my pics, can I get a little honest feedback?
Grey’s Anatomy is wearing me out.
There.
I said it.
When I first told you guys that I was going to binge watch it (back in May), so many of you told me I would reach a point when I wanted to quit, but that I should push through. I’m there. I’m quitting for now to watch #allthehallmarkchristmasmovies but someone please tell me that it picks up again. I’m on season 8. Someone, anyone, please tell me to quit or keep going. 😉
Whew.
I feel better now that I got that off my chest. Ha!
Here are a few pics from our life lately…
I found this one and giggled! Look how Liv and Maddie are concentrating so hard on their pumpkin painting. These girls were SO CUTE during Halloween!
Speaking of cute, these two are SO CUTE! They’re just SWEET! Both of them. SWEET.
Watching the World Series with my girl 🙂 .
Madeley had a costume parade at school. She clearly knows how to perform for the camera. Hahahaha!
Fancy Nancy and me at her school Halloween breakfast.
All three girls take tap lessons and on this day, they wanted me to pull my car out of the garage so that they could all tap inside. They were too cute! I bet they tapped together for 45 minutes!
K is learning how to roller skate. She likes me to stand by her as she skates around. I loved roller skating when I was her age!! I could never get the hang of roller blades, but skating was my jam!
We had a Friday night pizza date with just our boy. We ate it all up! He is just the sweetest!!
That’s a little life lately. See you guys tomorrow!! I’m off to watch a Hallmark movie…not Grey’s… 😉

So much fun for the kids! I love that all the girls dance! 🙂

Quit Grey’s!
Erika Slaughter says
I bet Madeley Shull can perform in some tap shoes! Where you’re at right now on Gray’s is probably where I stopped so I’m no help!
Christine says
The Season 8 Grey’s Finale is AMAZING .. and changes a lot of things. DO NOT GIVE UP ❤️
Jennifer says
I do know how you feel about greys! I watched it when it first came out years ago but lost interest after college and stopped watching it. I have started it again several times in the past but as soon as some of my faves start leaving I stop watching. I had a baby in May and knowing I would have several months of leave, I decided to watch again and catch back up to the current season. I just finished season 14 and am all caught up! I will say around season 12 I was feeling the same way you are shay! I wanted to stop- but since I had so many times before I kept going and ended up started really getting into it again! Def a binge watching show! So even if you take a break from it now, (hallmark Christmas trumps greys!!) I would finish it!! I’m really really glad I did! Your blog is the first thing I read in the morning while I’m feeding baby girl! Love it?
Beth Knecht says
I’m right there with you! I quit Grey’s a couple of years ago and then decided to pick it up again this summer. I’ve caught up to Season 14 I think. Working on the last season before the current one!
Kristen Thompson says
Keep watching Greys!! It has its moments, but I promise it’s worth it!!
Jess0 says
Season 8! I think the show was still good for a little while after that. Mark and Lexi are still on the show. Watch it for a few more seasons. Maybe just take a break and pick back up in January! I’m still a watcher of the show but it really just needs to end 😉
Sara says
Keep watching it! It’s worth it ?
Narci says
Madeley in her Fancy Nancy costume is the absolute sweetest. 🙂 And, I quit around season 8 years ago, but I hear it’s worth it if you stick through till the end.
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
I ended up quitting Grey’s last season because I was so tired of Shonda Rhimes’ politics being evident in every episode…..and it gets worse in the later seasons! I’m loving New Amsterdam right now!!
MeetTheShaneyfelts
Laura says
Same! Politics are so evident in the most recent seasons. I kinda quit in the middle of 13. Too many main character deaths. It has felt like an unrealistic soap opera the last few seasons. It’s not even enjoyable and a lot of things don’t make sense after season 10.
Kelly says
Grey’s superfan over here!! I would say push through (after all the Hallmark movies!), there are some really amazing moments and stories ahead of you!! However even though I love love this show, I would say to stop after season 10 finale if you’re feeling burnt out. In my opinion, the show greatly changed after that, and it’s a good stopping point!
Elspeth Mizner says
Keep watching greys. It will have its moments where you will wnat to stop but keep going, it’s a real rollercoaster
Charlotte Rowland says
I say give it up. I have watched every season hoping it would get better but the trainwreck is the same over and over. I actually missed episodes this season and haven’t missed the show at all. I don’t think I will be going back… there is much better shows on Tv now!!
Kristen says
I wish I quit Greys years ago but I feel like I’m so far deep I should see it through. The problem is when are they going to cancel this show!!
Sheaffer says
Madeley Shull was WORKING that parade! Love it!
Tammy says
I stopped watching Grey’s a few years ago. After I watched, I would wake up the next day feeling depressed. I have never seen a show with so many successful, attractive educated people that are always MISERABLE! I know lots of people love it, but it’s just wasn’t for me.
Brooke says
Keep watching! Season 7 and 8 are slow, but the end of 8 is a big game changer and it changes the show a bit. Stick it out!
JenniferM says
Love your shoes/slippers in the picture with K skating! Could you share where they’re from? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re Ugg slippers!!
Danielle Rigg says
Felt the same with Grey’s but I stuck it out. However, Season 11 is good…then it picks up much better after that. Another great show is…How to Get Away With Murder. Not sure if you watch that. However, I am with you with the Hallmark Christmas shows. Everything else is just sitting in my DVR until Christmas is over. Not sure if you have Sirius in your car. The Holly Channel is great. We only listen to that this time of year.
Happy Friday Eve!!!
Nikki says
Oh my, there’s still so much that happens. Don’t quit Greys! (Restart, but after the Hallmark movies!)
Season 12 was rough for me, but I’m glad I pushed through!
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
Love that K is enjoying rollerskating. The pic reminded me how I used to roller-skate back in the day and now I try to ice skate a few times in the winter to keep that joy going. Madeley’s pose in that parade is too cute!! I quit Grey’s 8 years ago so I’m no help. I’ve never looked back though lol.
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams
Miranda Bertram says
Yes, keep watching! I started watching when you mentioned it. I’m now on season 12. It has its ups and downs but gets better. 🙂
Shan says
Random: Love your hair (side part) in the pic with Madeley! It looks very 60’s Hollywood!
Niki Neumann says
Keep watching Grey’s! It’s so amazing and the season 8 finale is one of my favorite ones!
Carrie D says
What Bowen…repping OSU Cowboys? I could tell he was my kinda kid before I saw his pic with Ashby. This only solidifies it. That Bowen, he’s alright in my book!!
Sally says
I thought the same!! My husband played football for OSU back in the day!! ?
Julie says
I am a Greys fan and have been since the beginning. I would suggest pushing through, but sometimes when I go through binges of it I have to take a break too. It gets a little repetitive from time to time.
Abbie says
DON’T GIVE UP!!! Grey’s is soo good but you just have to push through this slow stage. Maybe pick it up in the New Year so you get a break.
I watched it when it first started and then stopped around season 8 as well but then I picked up where I left off and binge watched on Netflix a few years ago. It is completely worth it!! I watch it live every Thursday now if I can. It does through a little dull stage but you have to stay with it!!
Amanda Wilson says
Take a Greys break but go back!!! It’s sooooo good still. There is still so much more to come!!
Allison says
I started Greys from the beginning around May too! I told myself to get to season 10 (there is a big change at the end!) I’m by halfway through season 11. I will say that seasons 8-9 were ROUGH and it took me a while to get through those. I just took a little break then jumped back in.
Stephanie says
Watch GREYS!!!!! ITS SO WORTH IT!!!! promise ?
Jeni Mourton says
Madeley in that costume KILLS me!
Ann Marie says
I stuck it out! It’s pretty great now! I also love New Amsterdam! It’s so great. 🙂 Life lately looks like fun. ENJOY!
Cassidy Benjamin says
I think that is right around the time that I dropped Grey’s. Lately I’ve been thinking about trying to get back into it but it is such an emotional roller coaster! You’re smart to stick to Hallmark movies for this time of year! So Grey’s doesn’t kill your vibe 🙂
Jenna says
I hit that point with Greys and quit at season 8 and never went back. I watched it all on Thursday nights and can’t even watch it on Netflix now. Hahaha! I never went back. Enjoy those Hallmark movies!
Leah Reinemund says
I am going to be REAL honest with you. I was a DIE hard Grey’s fan from almost the beginning and only lasted 9 seasons 🙁 My mom and I would watch every Thursday when i was in high school. To many of the main characters kept leaving and I know its a drama but it got TOO dramatic!!!
Lisa says
Keep watching Grey’s! 🙂
Alannah says
I still keep up with Greys but I’m in no hurry for the next episode like I used to be! Lol! But I still enjoy it. Love that K is learning rollerblades! Awesome!
Lindsey says
Once you get through season 8 finale, I promise you’ll want to keep watching it. It can definitely be slow at times (especially the later seasons) but it is soooo worth it!!
Marisa says
I would stick with Grey’s after your Christmas break. I have been watching the entire time but have multi-tasked through certain seasons/episodes so that I didn’t miss any content. I am on the verge of quitting Blindspot, it just isn’t keeping my attention. I tried to watch FBI but it didn’t do it for me, neither did Empire. Now the Hallmark Channel never loses my interest starting from Oct -Jan…lol
Laci says
Madeley can work the camera! She is a doll!
Beverly Labosky says
Home for Christmas Day – was a 2017 movie on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel —— DON”T miss this one. It’s great!
Kelly Parker says
Don’t give up on Grey’s! I know it gets a little much, but you have come so far!
Roxie says
I so sad to admit this but, I’ve never watched Greys.
Maybe I should? Or shouldn’t?… I’m so confused after this post, haha! Jk!

Chelsey Boren says
I’ve watched Greys since it started and
Season 8 is a struggle for me! But keep going!! Like someone mentioned the finale ??
Sonia says
Keep pushing through Grey’s! I’ve been watching Grey’s since the beginning and people are always surprised when I say that I’m still watching it – 15 seasons in! I think it’s definitely one of those shows that I don’t know if I could have watched in one go, but there are so many ups and downs and highs and lows, that it could be a bit much to watch it all through. I’d probably slow down and watch an episode a day so that you have time to process it because Grey’s does take a lot of processing!
Kelly Buffington says
On Grey’s season 8 right now. I started sometime this summer, took a break to watch Madame Secretary (love!), started again but now it’s all about the Hallmark Movies. I’ll be back after Christmas:).
Amy says
I started Grey’s just a couple years ago when I started college and even though there were times I thought about stopping, I pushed through! I would say that seasons 8,9, and 10 are some of the best, so go through those for sure! I think that after that it changes, but I’ve continued to stick with it even though it doesn’t always keep your interest in the same way. I can justify that it helps me study for my anatomy & physiology class. 😉
E says
I’m a big Grey’s fan! Grey’s Season 8 ending is one of the BEST!
But if you need a break, Hallmark movies for the holiday season is good! Restart in January or later. The following seasons seemed slow.
I like the current seasons of Grey’s now! I think I read in an interview that they changed writers during the last 2 or 3 seasons which is why the writing seems lighter as added more humor and I think more love connections like the beginning seasons.
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
Nooooo don’t quit yet!!! Give it AT LEAST until the Season 8 finale! That finale is crazy and you’ll most likely want to dive right into Season 9 once you see it. Take a break for some Christmas goodness…but don’t quit. 😉

Lauren D says
So I quit Grey’s around season 5 or 6. It was just too heavy for me. I always watched those initial seasons in reruns though because I loved them so much. I kept up with the show via social media so always knew the spoilers and such. This spring, I had surgery and was laid up for a month – I started at 1 and am now on 10. I am with you – want to quit so badly. But, I’m going to plow through because once I catch up, I have a feeeling it will only be another two seasons and I want to be able to be caught up when it ends. Seriously though, Shonda just likes to mess with our hearts.
Heather S says
Greys quitter right here! It was my fav for the first several seasons. Like F A V fav!! Then the drama just got too ridiculous and over-the-top. I’m all for a good gasp and cry-but c’mon, how many times can these people survive? Haven’t looked back.
Melissa says
STICK IT OUT WITH GREY’S! You at least have to finish 8 and start 9 – I promise you, it will be worth it!
Anna S says
Tell those girls to never quit tap lessons! I LOVE tap and am thankful for the lessons I had through high school. I’d love to get back into it. It’s been about 8 years since I’ve tapped and miss it.
Elise Arsenault says
I say watch until season 10! Then quit!
Jeanelle says
I quit Grey’s midway during Season 11 and have not missed it since. I think life is too short to watch bad TV and I also think there are too many great shows out there to watch instead of watching shows you don’t love or that don’t leave you feeling entertained/uplifted/educated or whatever it is you’re looking for from TV. Plus if you stop watching, you know you can always pick it up again if you feel like it. It’s obviously never going away! 😉
Mindy says
Don’t give up on Grey’s! It is worth it to keep watching!! So good!!
Andrea Anderson says
Push through Grey’s. It really is a great show. You’ll be happy you kept going. I’ve faithfully watched it since the beginning. You got this 🙂
Katie A says
I still watch Grey’s but every time I wonder why I do. I should have quit where you quit. It’s betterish now but my life would be completely fine without it ?!
Stacie says
I started Grey’s when it first came out and plenty of times I wanted to quit, but by that point I had given 10 years of my life to the show, so I thought I would stick it out. Yes, there are a few seasons where I did a lot of fast forwarding, but the last few seasons have been really good again! Even without some of my favorite characters. I say stick with it.
Tracy says
All your kiddos are so darling. Did you color your hair? It looks a bit red (and beautiful!) in the last picture. If not, maybe you should go red!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s the IG filter I used! Hahaha! I thought the same thing!
Candice says
At least watch through season 11. Then you decide! But push through until THEN.
Amanda says
Stop Grays… I believe season 8 is when I stopped watching. I watched it live and I finally had to stop. It was all just getting to be too much and I have never looked back and I don’t regret not watching it anymore. I have found so many new and in my opinion better series out there to watch since giving up Grays.
Dawn says
Same about skates v. blades… roller skating > roller blading 😉 I take our kids to the ice skating rink but I wish I could take them to roller skating rinks — all our local rinks shut down and it makes me sad. Some great birthday parties were had there back in the day!
Jenny F says
Hi Shay! Love your blog and I really need to know about that floral shirt you’re wearing in the last picture with your hubby and Smith- it is so cute!
Mix and Match Mama says
It was a gift from Erika for my birthday!! Isn’t it too cute?! It’s from Anthro!
Liz Thorson says
Loved all of your ice, particularly the one of you, Andrew and Smith and Ashby and Bowen!❤️
Paula W Morton says
Watched Grey’s for a few years, dropped it, and picked it back up from the time they had the shooter in the hospital. Stay with it though, it’s good television drama!! Also The Resident…LOVE…The Good Doctor…LOVE, LOVE….New Amsterdam…LOVE
Amber says
Say BUH BYE to Greys! It does not get better, in my opinion…It is one of those shows after season 7 or 8 that just feels like a chore to watch, ya know? It should have ended yeeeears ago!
Rebecca says
I was a HUGE Grey’s fan from the beginning…the first few seasons remain my absolute favorite to go back and re-watch (of any tv show!) However, I stopped watching around Season 8/9. Not to give any spoilers away, but something HUGE happens around the end of season 8 (I think?!) which changes alot of the show’s dynamics. To be honest, I’ve never regretted that I stopped watching. Maybe if you are using it as something just to have in the background, but considering how many seasons you have left, its alot of hours to devote.
Courtney says
I recommend taking a Grey’s break then starting up again after the new year. Season 8’s ending is crazy good! I am the only person I know that has watched the show since day one (back in college), and there were a few seasons over the years that weren’t as good. I feel like it’s gotten better again the last few seasons, but I agree 100% with the comments about politics playing a big part.
Courtney Wagoner says
If you need a break from Grey’s and haven’t watch it yet, tune into the “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” It is only 8 episodes and seriously one of the best series I have seen in years. It is just fun, plain fun!
Sheri says
Pick up Grey’s after the holidays!
Chelsey F says
I say pick it back up again after the holiday season. I was a fan in the beginning and stopped watching it but last year I started it from the beginning and am now all caught up and watching the show on my DVR as it airs! It has had its moments where I wasn’t into it but overall I’m glad I stuck with it!
Liz H says
Your skin just glows! I’m only 28 and your skin is so many more galaxies better than mine. Do you have a new skincare update?
Mix and Match Mama says
Just the one I posted in October that includes all things beauty! Thank you so much!!
Casey says
Will you post ideas for Christmas gifts for kids please?! I have a son the same age as Smith and a daughter that’s ashby’s age!
Lea Culp says
Well, I, for one, know absolutely nothing about Grey’s Anatomy but I do love Hallmark Movies. :o)) Your comments about Grey’s Anatomy reminded me of my feelings about This Is Us. Goodness, that show wore me out last season and I threw the towel in and haven’t looked back. Your kiddos are so cute and looks like you do a good job of making memories with them. Happy weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
I had to stop This Is Us because it just put me in a bad place each week. I needed it to be more uplifting.
Jenn says
QUIT! It goes downhill and it never recovers. Trust me.
Heather says
Yes!!!! You are 100% correct about Greys! I had to quit it a while back too! Nothing good EVER happens! It starts to take a toll on you! I have no idea why it is still on air ? It is beyond time to hang up the scrubs!
melissa says
Keep going with Greys! Dont stop. I finally binged watched it over the summer but I kept putting it off for a while to even start watching because there were so many seasons out but I finally started and didn’t stop watching until i finished and now i am all caught up and even got into the spin off Station 19 and am hooked on that one also. I tried to watch Private Practice but didnt stick with that one as much (even though Kate Walsh is a top favorite of mine).
Jessica Leymaster says
Don’t give up on Grey’s!
Kathy says
If you’re not feeling Grays, give it up. Life is too short. You can always go back if you miss it. I gave it up years ago. #noregrets
Jessica says
I was the same way with Grey’s. Whatever season the writer’s strike happened I quit watching. Meredith startedgetting on my nerves. I took a few years off and came back around season 12 maybe? Now it’s one of my favorite shows again. So…if you wanted to skip a few seasons you could still figure out what’s going on 😉
Christina says
Keep watching Grey’s!! There are definitely patches that are en effort to get through, but it’s so worth it! I’ve been a bit hot and cold about it for the past couple seasons (I’m current), but I have to say that I’m loving the new sister-dynamic that Meredith has now (and I definitely did not like it at first). April Kepner has SUCH a great story line that highlights her faith, that you’ll want to follow through as well.
Jessica says
Don’t give up on Grey’s! It is so good. Season finale of season 8 will have you hooked. I promise after that you won’t be able to stop.
Virginia says
Pick it back up after Christmas movies. It’s a good show. I’m not feeling the current season as much, but like a few others have mentioned above, New Amsterdam (new this year on NBC) is another good medical show! I also loved How to Get Away with Murder and Station 19.
Katie says
Keep going with Greys! There are a couple slow seasons but the story, even with changes, is great! The current season is amazing!! After you get through the slow parts you won’t be able to stop watching again! The new characters that you will get to know are great additions!
Michele says
For the love of God , STOP GREY’S!! I mean, I was the most loyal fan but then everyone started dying and I couldn’t take it. And Merideth is always so sad, please take some meds, I do…I’m so not ashamed. Just . Stop. Watching.
Elizabeth says
What kind of roller skates does she have? My daughter is the same age and is asking for some for Christmas! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t know the brand??? My parents bought them from a specialty skate store in Carrollton, TX.
