Nine.


Nine years ago today, this sweet boy came into our lives…

…and it was love at first sight.

Today’s the day that we celebrate the birth of the ROCK STAR of our fam 🙂 .

It’s a joke around here that the three girls were so prayed for before we had them.  I prayed for two years that I would get pregnant with Kensington.  I prayed for over four years about adopting Ashby and then another 18 months of prayer for Madeley.  But Smith?  I didn’t pray one time for him.  Hahahaha!  #surprisebaby  I didn’t know I needed him…BUT GOD DID!  He was a SURPRISE in every sense of the word.  I had no idea that I needed that boy, but God knew.

Smith is everyone’s favorite over here.

The three girls would all tell you that Smith is the one they want to play with.  Smith is the one they want to sit by.  And Smith is ALWAYS the one they want to sleep with.  NOT A SINGLE NIGHT GOES BY THAT SOME GIRL DOES NOT CRY BECAUSE IT’S NOT HER TURN TO SLEEP WITH SMITH.  It’s actually maddening because they have a rotating schedule of who gets to sleep with Smith, but if it’s not their turn, SOMEONE WILL CRY ABOUT IT.  They all just LOVE him so much!!

Smith is wise beyond his years.  He’s funny, he’s quick witted, he can be really serious and he’s always the voice of reason.

Smith is super social and loves school!  He also loves playing sports and snowboarding too.  That being said, out of all of the kiddos, he’s the one most likely to ask me to sit and cuddle with him.

Smith has a really big heart and loves his family and friends so much.

From those big blue eyes to his dimples, we are still so smitten with Smithy.

Always the favorite 🙂 .

    We have a “surprise” baby too! I always tell my twins (IVF after 7 years of trying) how much I prayed for them. Then they ask me if I prayed for Colson too. I tell them “Nope, God just knew we needed him in our family!” Love those surprise babies!

    Ok, random question: I’m about to have baby #4 and really love the name Smith! Do people get confused as to what his name is (i.e. searching for his first name since Smith is a very popular last name?). Or call him Shull? I don’t know, my husband is all concerned about it, but I told him it would be fine. Trying to convince Husband to let me name him Smith.

    Happy birthday Smith! He looks like a mini Andrew! We have a Smith at our house too but he is named Lukas! 🙂 He was our surprise baby too-we like to call him our surprise “gift”. He has been pure joy from day one! We are lucky to have these beautiful boys. God knew we needed them.:)
