Happy Friday, friends!!!
Okay, I have to start today by giving a BIG shout out to one of my FAVORITE PEOPLE!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO…
…ANDREA!!!
Eeeks! Okay, if you missed my Girlfriend Chat with Andrea (kind of like a podcast but much more lame), click HERE. You can listen to us chat about everything from cheese to how we’ve taught Sunday school together for over a decade. Happy Birthday, sweet friend! I love you so much!!!
It’s the day after Valentine’s Day. Anyone else besides me wishing it weren’t a work day?!?!
Here are my favorite things from the week, and as always, I’m linking up with my girls Erika, Narci and Andrea.
Did you see this on Instagram this week…
…sweet Ashby rocked my world! Randomly on Monday afternoon, she came home and just HAD TO eat the school’s cafeteria lunch the next day instead of me packing her one. I had all the feels because besides the fact that Ashby has a hard time using both hands, she also struggles with articulation issues, so ordering lunch, paying for it with her district number (that I had to set up for her) and carrying it the tray back to the table is A LOT TO DO! But guys, SHE NAILED IT! She loved it so much that she said she wants to do it from now on. She feels so independent!! Sheaffer and I were laughing because in true Ashby style, she skipped everything sweet and got extra vegetables. (My other kids would probably opt for four desserts and no vegetable…sigh.) She is just so proud of herself, and we are too!! This girl continues to amaze me every.single.day!
You guys know that once I find a shirt in my favorite color, I have to have it…
…this pretty green blouse gives me #allthefeels!! It comes in other colors, but you know how my heart belongs to green 🙂 .
Please also note that for some reason, there was a big ladder in my closet at the same time. Sigh.
I wore this blouse and my favorite black jeans to the school’s Family Valentine Dance. I heart you green 🙂 . And don’t forget, if you love this color too…
…this sweater is perfect!! It also comes in many colors (and I can’t stop, won’t stop with those wedges!).
Anyone besides me find that a bright and happy color helps motivate them to work out? It was time for new sneakers and this color just made me feel ENERGIZED!!
This is my second pair of Nike Air Pegasus 35 in a row because I love them that much! I always order my normal size. In some athletic shoes, you should size up, but I don’t feel like I need to in these. They come in other colors, but hello bright and happy! Pssst: my bright yellow tank is HERE.
Speaking of shoes, have you noticed that Madeley is wearing these in every picture lately?
…I bought them at Target, and she won’t take them off. They’re comfy, they work for school and they’re super cute 🙂 .
After I took a pic of her feet, she told me to take one of her face…
…bahahahahaha! I love that kid so much!!
Anyone know what a “medicine ball” is?
It’s a secret, not on the menu, drink from Starbucks…
…weird, right?
This week, I tried my first one when I went to grab one for a friend who wasn’t feeling well. It says that it’s filled half with steamed lemonade and half with hot water. Then, they add a Teavana jade citrus mint and a bag of peach tranquility tea into the cup. Honestly? It was really good!
For dinner this weekend (or next week), you need to do what I did on Monday. First, I made this…
…my BEST SLOW COOKER BRISKET. And then, I took your recommendations from my TRADER JOE’S POST and served it with their Sweet Potato Gnocchi and a salad. SO DELICIOUS!!! Our Monday nights are kind of crazy. We go from speech to tumbling and sometimes basketball too, so our window for dinner is small. My brisket was ready and waiting on us and then I just heated up that gnocchi…so easy! Next time, I will buy two bags of it because it was gone in a heartbeat!
Easy.
I like easy
Make this on Monday 🙂 .
That’s it for this week! Friends, I hope you have the BEST weekend!! xo

The medicine ball is actually on the menu because of the popularity! It’s under a different name however. I believe it’s called “jade citrus mint tea”.
Heather H says
The medicine ball became so popular Starbucks did actually add it to their menu, so you can order it from the app. They call it the Honey Citrus Mint Tea.
Laci says
The shoes are adorable!!
Erica says
Hi! Starbucks also has a drink called the Citrus Defender that is very similar to the medicine ball (did you know they actually made a menu item with the name Honey Citrus Mint Tea because so many people were ordering the “medicine ball”? So cool!) I love the Citrus Defender, it has vitamin C packed Defense White Tea with steamed lemonade and honey – it is amazing!
Rachel says
The med ball is so good! I found it a little to sweet so I ask them to do 1/4 lemonade and 3/4 water and it’s even better!!
Kara says
So proud of Ashby!
Leah says
The medicine ball should be in the menu now. At least in Seattle it is. It’s now called the Honey Citrus Mint Tea. As a teacher, it’s one of my favorite cold remedy drinks now.
Carolyn Matulich says
Where did you get your cute phone case?

I have something very serious to ask you…. !!
I am turning 30 soon & wanted to find out from you… If you can go back to your 30yr old self, what would be the TOP thing on your birthday wishlist from family and friends?
…serious yes.. Ha! Thank you in advance. xo
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhhhh!!! Good question!! Okay, well I think it would be something that would get me out there in the world. Maybe a gift card to an airline (or they could gift you their miles!)? Something like that! Something to send you off to explore!
Casey says
Ashby seems light such a bright soul! I’m SO glad you were both called to adopt her, because I think your family really helps her shine! You are an amazing momma!

OKAY that gnocchi is life. I roasted it (did you know you can roast gnocchi?! life changing) with sliced chicken apple sausage and then drizzled it with pesto afterwards and oh my LORD. Unreal.
Paula B. says
Jacqui, How do you roast the gnocchi? That sounds delish. Temp and cooking time, please.

Have a great weekend Shay.
Sara says
The Medicine Ball has been on the menu for quite awhile. They just call it Honey Citrus Mint Tea. 🙂
Kim Fleming says
What a good secret to let everyone know about – the MEDICINE BALL! I heard about it when my brother was sick before Christmas and told him to go use his gift card and buy one each day. He literally felt better just sipping it!! Two weeks later I tried it.
Nadine says
Wondering why you discard all the liquid after the brisket is done??? Sounds like it would make a good sauce to serve over the brisket or rice. Have you ever tried it that way?
Mix and Match Mama says
Because the brisket has been sitting in the slow cooker (and none of the liquid has evaporated and the sauce hasn’t thickened), it does not look appealing to me. You could pour it on the stove and make it into a sauce though if you like.
Jessica Driscoll says
I like the medicine ball and the citrus defender tea from Starbucks.
Jaime says
Have you ever heard of French onion risotto? I saw them make it on the food network and it seemed so good. I was just wondering if you had ever heard of it? I know how much you love everything French onion.
Thanks Jaime
Mix and Match Mama says
Yum!!! It would be the marriage of two of my faves: French Onion Soup and risotto!
Emily says
Your Friday posts are my favorite. Happy weekend!!
Tracy says
We make the medicine ball at home (thank you, Pinterest) and LOVE it!
Deana says
Hey everyone. You should try the Medicine Ball with some Peppermint syrup. The barista suggested it and it’s amazing.
Emily says
Random post idea, would you consider doing a post about things you wish you knew as new mom or did with each child? For instance, you’ve posted about cataloguing pictures, and you do a great job of creating traditions. I think it’d be awesome to have a post that’s a general “catch all” for most important things that you’ve prioritized as a mom for your kids/making memories.
Amy says
I swear by the medicine ball! I’m a teacher and use this when I feel a cold coming on. Haven’t had a cold longer than 3 days since I started drinking these. We don’t have a Starbucks nearby, so now I make the knock off version at home.
Michelle says
That is so incredible for Ashby to beat the fear, queue up and order her own lunch! What a cutie pie! And, I LOVE those trainers of yours.

Liz Thorson says
Sweet, courageous determined Ashby:❤️
Lindsey Peddicord says
I love the medicine ball tea! One time I ordered it at Target and they called out “Sick tea for Lindsey” I wasn’t even sick so it was slightly embarrassing.
I did buy the teavana teas separately and steam lemonade in my milk frother to make them at home. Tastes the same!! So good!!!
