It’s LET’S LOOK!!!
Once a month, Erika and I host a link up where we “look” at little aspects of our lives. If you’re a blogger, make sure you blog and link up!
Here’s what we’ve been “looking” at so far this year…
In January, we looked at the coziest spots in our house
In February, we looked at our favorite reads
In March, we looked at the people in our family!
In April, we looked at our pantries!
In May, we looked at our favorite #OOTD
In June, we looked inside our suitcase
And today, we’re looking at a day in the life!
I love to do “a day in the life” posts because they’re my own personal number one favorite posts to go back and read. These days at home with my kids are flying by, so I love that over the years, I’ve documented what our typical days look like because friends…
…right?! They were all just so little like a minute ago!!
If you want to look back at some of my other “day in the life” posts, look below…
February 2019
…as you can see, I try and two about two a year. I like to do one that is with our “school routine” and one that is with our “summer routine”. That being said, I will have to do another one this summer because this particular day {JULY 1} was anything but routine. Good grief! This day was crazy from beginning to end! There is nothing normal about this day…but here you go anyway. A day in the life of us….
My alarm went off at 4:10, but I forgot that I was supposed to be documenting this day until 4:35. I only wake up this early when I hit the gym. Some weeks, I go to the gym three times and then some weeks, not at all. During the summer, it’s a random mess, but on this day, I was heading to the gym, so I woke up early.
Good morning, friends!
Got my coffee and am ready for the day!
Andrew was up and about to do cardio at home. I was up and about to…
…go to the 5:30 AM class at my gym.
Out the door of the gym at 6:18.
I pulled up to the front of the house just as the sun was coming up…it was July 4th week, so we had the flag flying!
I grabbed breakfast on the patio (more coffee with toast and almond butter with homemade jam)…
…I enjoyed my view and watched a few minutes of Game of Thrones on my phone.
I took my same cup of coffee back to my desk and worked since the kids were all still asleep.
These two follow me around all day 🙂 .
The kids woke up…
…they decided to play in our pop up tent. But wait! We had…
…Bowen over! Smith stayed with the Slaughters the night before and Ebby Lee and Bowen stayed with us.
The kiddos all asked for donuts that morning, so I drove them up to…
…the donut shop! Please note Bowen’s shoes. He came to our house the night before barefoot, so I told him to put on Smith’s shoes…and he decided to wear two different ones. Hahaha!
Once we were home, I decided to shower and change. Smith had a baseball game that afternoon, so “cool” was the name of the game. #helloheat You can find my shorts HERE and tank HERE.
The kiddos played all morning. They were upstairs, they were downstairs…they were everywhere playing with Bowen while I worked some more. Andrew came home from work and grabbed Smith, Nixon and Tab to head to the game. I believe it was like a 3:00 game, so they had to get there early. The early afternoon was a blur of the kids eating lunch, me finishing up work, everyone getting dressed and then…
…I sat down to do speech with both little girls. We love playing Go Fish!
Go fish with our “s” words!
Ashby’s turn! We played a speech game here by the window and then…
…went into my office to read a book. She, of course, picked Peppa Plays Soccer 🙂 .
I love this kiddo so much!!
Since Andrew took Tab, Nixon and Bowen, we hopped in the car with Erika! Here we are waiting outside for her to pick us up.
At the ball field!
See? 3:04! The game was delayed a bit because of the game in front, so we settled in (it was hot!) and waited…
Madeley was spraying Britty…
…and I was hanging with Erika and my mama. We typically do not have tournaments on weekdays, so everyone kept joking about how weird it was to be at a game on a Monday. Why wasn’t anyone at work? It felt like a Saturday…but it was a Monday! #sostrange
Game time! My favorite catcher came out 🙂 .
(Side note: this was our longest and last tournament of the year…it went from Friday through Tuesday!)
I love watching my boy!!
These two stayed cool with snow cones! Side note, those are my dad’s legs. I forgot to get a pic of him. Bahahaha! Sorry, dad!
Oh wait! There he is photo-bombing!
Smith at bat!
Madeley had borrowed fans and spray bottles from friends at the game. She was soaked!
Water or sweat? With Madeley, it could go either way.
She’s so happy though!!
After this game, it was right smack in the middle of rush hour traffic. The game was about 45 minutes away from our house and with traffic, it could have easily taken twice as long, so a bunch of baseball families decided to eat Mexican food close by until traffic died down…
…on the patio fun!
We finally made it back home at 8:30! Wowzers! I had to sit down and finish up some work while the kiddos showered.
Time for bed!! Everyone was tired from our long (and hot!) afternoon outside. After this, I took my own shower and read a minute before going to sleep…
…I made it to 10:03, but I’m pretty sure Andrew was out by 9:30. Whew! A day in the life of us! It wasn’t our typical summer day, but it was FUN just the same! We love hanging out with our baseball friends, watching Smith play and are thankful that my parents were able to be there.
Don’t forget…
…next month, our topic is YOUR FAVORITE BINGE SHOWS!
I hope you guys have the best day! Make sure you link up below if you blog!!

Busy busy day! Where do you get your apple watch bands from?
Mix and Match Mama says
Apple!

I just got my first Apple Watch. The sales person suggested getting bands from Amazon. Check them out, they are great and you can’t beat the price! https://www.amazon.com/sk=apple+watch+band+38mm&crid=XJ8TDR6GGZSC&sprefix=Apple+%2Caps%2C177&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_6

I love that you took them out for donuts in their Pj’s! I often took my youngest two out in their Pj’s and my husband was always a bit horrified I didn’t make them get dressed. 🙂

Love this!!! So what about your eats?! I always love seeing what you eat in a day too!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I think I just missed lunch. It was a very random assortment of turkey pepperoni, cheese, fruit, crackers and hummus.

I remember days like this when my brother played baseball! They can be fun but boy do they get hot! Madeley’s fan would have come in handy back then!

All of these photos of you close up are just beautiful! I don’t know if you’re wearing makeup or if it’s melted off by the end of the day but you just look so natural and beautiful. If that’s a no makeup makeup look, you should do a tutorial. Have a great rest of the week!

You’re my new favorite person! 😉

Your home is just so stunning!!! Every time I see it my jaw drops!!!

Its nice to be at a ball field with covered stands, but when you don’t have covering the BEST chair is the Renetto. I have two boys (high school and college now) and have MANY years of chairs, heat, stands, and sun under my belt. Invest in these and don’t go with a knock off, there is a difference! ( They make great presents too!!) There is no bag to break and the top shade part snaps around and makes the cover. My favorite part is the backpack straps for easy carrying when you are carrying all the things!! I promise you will wonder where this chair has been all your sports life!!! I get nothing from telling you about this, just one baseball mom to another sharing a tip!! https://www.renetto.com/
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my goodness!! Thank you so much, Amy!!!
Tammy says
After reading this I feel invested in Smith’s baseball team. Did they win? Are they in some type of playoffs? Also, what time do your kids wake up in the summer?
Mix and Match Mama says
Hahahaha! I appreciate that, Tammy!! They did so great but ended up losing late on Tuesday night. That was the final tournament of the season, so we have a break now until fall ball starts up. In the summer, as long as we don’t have places to be, they all wake up sometime between 8 and 9:30.

Where’s your necklace from? Looking for a dainty little necklace to pop on with all sorts of outfits. Do you have any favorites?

Mix and Match Mama says
It’s a Nex Gen polish (that dip from the nail salon).

So I was hoping someone would ask….where’s the short sleeve white sweatshirt from? I love the thickness of a sweatshirt but love the short sleeves for summer!

These are for sure my favorite blog posts of yours! I love hearing about other peoples daily lives and schedules. You amaze me how early you wake up– I got to bed at 10 and dont wake up until almost 7! Lol. Though I am sure all that is about to change with my first little babe on the way–due in a couple months!
Megan says
Where is your cute gold necklace from??
Mix and Match Mama says
Accessory Concierge!

This sounds like my life. Summers are all baseball. I feel guilty for my 3 girls. I also have girl-boy-girl-girl. We have Tuesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday and sometimes Sunday games. It’s insane. As much as I love it, I’m kind of looking forward to the last game! We also drive all over Colorado for the games & don’t have covered seating. How nice that looks! We bought clip-on umbrellas to attach to chairs to block the sun. Anyway, I wanted to know where you got your short sleeved white/cream colored sweatshirt. ?. Thank you!

I will be in Greece in August for about 5 days. What are the two best islands that you’d recommend to visit in Greece? Or what is the best one? Is santorini or mykonos better or are both must sees?
Mix and Match Mama says
Ah! I cannot wait to go back to both Santorini and Mykonos!! Have so much fun!!

I love these Day in the Life Posts 🙂 I was wondering….do you ever just feel completely exhausted and sleep in until like 8:00, or does that just never happen? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Hahahaha! I do feel exhausted, but I never sleep until 8:00. On our road trip, I slept until 7 every day though!!
Joy says
I love these day in the life post. And love seeing your home. Where did you buy the trees in the planters by the front door?
Mix and Match Mama says
A local nursery!
Tish Ferry says
Shay! You inspire me to get up earlier and earlier, however when I’m tired, I tend to eat ALL THE FOOD. It’s like I’m trying to stay awake during the day. Do you struggle with just 6 hours of sleep? Do you find yourself doing little things like eating more on those days bc you’re tired….please share your secrets! Haha! Also, I know you’ve said before that your Dad is a morning person too. Did he ever struggle during your teenage years having to be up later for events, curfews, etc. and still getting up early? With our older kids, I find myself wanting to stay up late with them but still get up early and this Momma can’t do both anymore! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t know that I eat more, but I probably rely on coffee more (too much!). I’ve always been a morning person. Even in high school, I found myself in bed earlier, never wanted to be out until curfew (my parents always joke that I didn’t have one because I was asleep by 9:00. Hahahaha!) and such. I am going to struggle big time when I have to stay up and wait for my own teenagers!! Maybe Andrew will? 😉
Tina says
These are always my favorite! If I ever need motivation, I go back and read your day in the life posts!☺️ Question: Do you ever have days/weeks where things get chaotic, your house is a wreck and you don’t accomplish everything you need to? Asking for a friend!? I’m serious though! I can be really organized for a while, but often get derailed.?
Mix and Match Mama says
Hahahaha! Yes! When those days happen, I really try and stay up/wake up early and get my act together as much as I can. Some weeks are just hard though.
