Friday Favorites: Birthday Edition!


It’s Friday, October 25th which means…it’s my BIRTHDAY!

What grand plans do I have today you ask?  Two doctor appointments for two different kids and a four year old’s birthday party.  If that’s not livin’ life at 38 then I really don’t know what is?!  😉   Every month, I try and do a little something fun with Nordstrom, so when they asked if I wanted to collaborate today, I was like Nordstrom on my birthday?  YES, PLEASE!  Sounds like the perfect match!  I’m linking up with my girls Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing my favorite things from this week including all the tweed and turtlenecks from Nordstrom right now (because those are two of my favorite things!).  Here’s hoping we both have a happy October 25th! xo

How cute is this tweed dress?!  I went to the McKinney Educational Foundation’s last event and wore this…

…I love me a shift dress!  I also love that this dress is tweed so it looks “fall” but no matter the temp, you can wear it.  If it’s still warm where you are, it works, or if it’s cold, add a blazer or jacket.  I wore it with this jacket (I removed the hood) that I bought last year and these booties that I’ve had for several years (and are still in stock!).  Just easy!  I really love me some tweed 🙂 .  I’ve been kind of obsessing over these tweed bags lately too.

Today is a turtleneck kind of day here in North Texas!  Apparently, the Lord decided to give me my favorite kind of weather for my birthday 😉 .  How adorable is this turtleneck right here…

…I will be wearing it TODAY!  I’ll hop on Insta Stories later so that you can see it in person, but I wanted you to get a peek right now.

It’s super soft and not itchy at all (you know I don’t do itchy!!).  It comes in two other colors as well as this one.

Yesterday, I wore…

…this sweater!  It comes in 8 different colors, but the red just screamed CHRISTMAS to me!!  It hits right at my waist, so I put a cami underneath it to give me a nice little layer.  I’m wearing it with those jeans I love so much and my wedge sneakers from last year.  And then one last one here…

…isn’t it perfect?  It’s kind of like a mock-turtleneck.  Jeans, booties and a sweater…my uniform.  This one comes in 10 different colors too!

My girlfriends…

…Erika hosted a Halloween dinner at a restaurant on our town square this week, and we had the best time!  I bet you can’t guess the theme?!  Ha!  #didsomeonesayblack

We had a delicious seven course meal at Rye on our town square.

And took lots of silly pics too 🙂 .

I guess I’m either going to have to go as Monica from Friends next Halloween or the mom in The Incredibles 😉 .

The other day, I told you how much I have been enjoying this perfume in the spring and summer and so many of you suggested/agreed that I should try their vanilla version, so I went to my local Nordstrom to smell and not only did I love it, but the very knowledgeable lady in the perfume department suggested that this one would be a nice counterbalance for the fall and winter.  The combination of the vanilla and the woodsy made it absolutely delightful!  I was also very interested in this set which allows you to try so many different versions of the Atelier Cologne.  It would make a great Christmas gift!  I know I say this all the time, but you really have to get into a Nordstrom store and talk to their very knowledgeable team in each department.  It always blows my mind how well they know their products and can find a fit for me.

(Okay, Andrew Shull just needs to keep his complaining to a minimum.)

    Happy Birthday!!! As an extra added treat for your birthday Nordstrom opened a flagship store in NYC Midtown , all 7 floors, yes 7 whole floors of amazing!! They truly made it an experience with an interactive beauty floor as well as an alterations department and restaurants and bars sprinkled throughout the floors. You MUST go!
