Dear Apple Watch 5,
I don’t really like you.
I have been in a relationship with you for a month now, and I’m ready to part ways. To move on. To bring my last watch back and beg his forgiveness for giving him away.
I am tired of you.
You know how people say “it’s not you, it’s me”? No. It’s you. It’s not me.
Sincerely,
Shay
Soooooo…I upgraded to the Apple Watch 5 and am not happy.
I thought I’d share my thoughts before the holiday season in case you are thinking about upgrading or buying one as a gift. I’ve had several people ask me if I have upgraded and my thoughts, and since I’m not thrilled with it, I didn’t want to wait to review it in case this effects your decision. Also, maybe I have a dud watch? Maybe you guys are about to tell me to call Apple and have them replace it because all of your Apple Watch 5s are amazing. I HOPE THAT’S THE CASE! I would be thrilled!! That being said, here are my thoughts to date on the 5…
…the watch on the left is my Apple Watch 4. I reviewed it HERE. I had it one year (after having the 1, the 2 and the 3). I bought my first Apple Watch in 2016 and loved it. I am the least techy person you’ll ever meet, but it was so user-friendly that it quickly became one of my favorite things. The only thing not perfect about the Apple Watch 1 was that it wasn’t water proof.
And then…
…Apple came out with the Apple Watch 2 which WAS WATERPROOF and my world was once more rocked, so I upgraded to that one. It was amazing. It did everything my first one did, but I could swim with it on, take a shower with it on, wash dishes, bathe kids…do everything with it on and my love of the Apple Watch just grew and grew. And then…
…Apple came out with the Apple Watch 3 that could have cellular functions without your phone nearby. What? I could leave my phone at home and drive to my kids’ school and still make/receive calls and texts? I could go on a run or bike ride and leave behind the phone, but still have access to calling/texting if I needed to? What? Amazing! I upgraded again. Now, last year, Apple came out with their Apple Watch 4…
…which pretty much functioned the same as the 3, but the face was larger and thinner…I liked that. Bigger screen but with less bulk? Yes, please! I upgraded. So when the Apple Watch 5 came out this fall, I naturally thought, yup, it’s time to upgrade. I’ll trade in my 4 and get a 5 and my love affair with the watch will continue.
(You know the sound of a car screeching as it breaks to a quick stop? Yeah, I’m hearing it right now too.)
Here are a few reasons that I’ve been disappointed with my new watch since day one.
#1: The battery life is so short. With the 1, my battery would last just about the whole day, but there were a few occasions when it died that evening while I was still wearing it. Maybe three times? Once I upgraded to the 2, battery life was never an issue. The 2, 3 and 4 would all last me a solid day and a half pushing two days. I charge my watch every night before bed and it would consistently be around 40% when I would charge it. With the 5, IF if makes it all day, it’s at 10% or below when I charge it at night. You guys know me, and my life hasn’t changed…I still wear it the same number of hours, use the same apps, everything is the same, my battery just DOES NOT stay charged.
#2: Look at that picture closely. It appears the 5 has a smaller face, right? It says they’re the same size, but I really think it’s a tad smaller. Not a big deal, but just something I don’t love.
#3: With the addition of each new Apple watch, the activity monitor has improved meaning it gauges my calories, steps and overall activity better with each watch. I had my watch on the other day and did a Peloton workout for 30 minutes and it said I burned 20 calories. Twenty. It used to say more like 350…but 20?!
Now, the big new feature of the Apple Watch 5 is that the screen never turns off. With all of the other watches, when your wrist isn’t up and you are looking at it, the screen is black. So, for instance, when I’m holding planks, I can’t see my timer because my wrist is down, so all I see is black, but with this new watch, the screen is ALWAYS on. I do really love that but wonder if that’s not the reason the battery life is so much shorter? That being said, my friend told me she didn’t like that the watch was always “lit up” because she found it distracting and preferred it the other way. So I don’t know? Maybe it’s not a pro for everyone?
Now, I’m hoping you all say my watch is a dud and that the 5 is fabulous since I’ve already traded in my 4. I would loooooove any feedback you guys have who also have the 5. Am I missing an amazing feature? Is there something I’m doing wrong? I would love to know! I just looked online and it appears that right now, you can only buy the 3 or the 5, so if you’re asking me today which one I would get someone as a gift, I would say the 3.
Needless to say, I’m hoping for a lot of clarity/info/thoughts and ideas in the comment section today. Either that or someone tell me the date the 6 comes out because I think I’ll be ready to upgrade 😉 .

Ok… I am a first time Apple watch gal and bought the 5. I’ve been so happy with the 5, I’ve wondered how I survived without it!! I can go well over a day without a charge. I did turnoff the ‘always on’ simply because it was so responsive when I turned my wrist I didn’t feel I needed the ‘always on’. And, I turned off many of the nonsense notifications that come standard…there are only about 5-6 notifications that I really care about.
What a made a big difference was to insure you’ve done the software update on both your phone and your watch!!!
I love the 5…and I hope you can get some resolve. I’ve been reading your reviews since the 1…and finally pulled the trigger. I love it!

I hate that you’ve been disappointed in the watch. I’ve never had an Apple watch but want one. Have you gone into the Apple store and talked to them. Usually, they have lots of tips and tricks that I would have never ever known about!
Nicole says
My watch didn’t accurately track my work outs until I made my watch as tight as it could possibly go while working out!!! That was a game changer!!!
Narci says
The screen of the four does look bigger, I think!
Sheaffer Sims says
You know I have nothing to offer you here, but it was so interesting to read how the watch has evolved over the years!
Kristen Thompson says
My Apple Watch 1 must have been a dud because it did the same exact thing with the calories and I got so annoyed! My husband and I would go on runs together and it would say I burned 30 calories running 3 miles while he burned 200! When I was pregnant it got even worse and I decided my watch was sexist lol! Good luck, I hope it’s a dud because I would have loved to love my watch too!!
Nan says
Hi Shay thanks for the amazing review? I am now going to purchase the Series 3 instead of the dud 5 lol. By the way, I Googled how to disable the always-on display on your watch. It’s easy!
Johannah says
I don’t have the 5, but when I got my Apple Watch 2, the battery life was terrible. I ended up contacting Apple and they told me it was a “dud”. I returned it and never had any problems with my new one. Maybe that’s the problem with yours? Either way, I’m glad you did this review. I’ve been wanting to upgrade, but have been leaning more towards the 4 than the 5. I hope you get yours fixed soon!
Amanda says
You can turn off the “always on” setting on your watch so the screen goes dark when you wrist is down. Check it out here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210428
Beth says
I think I would take it back to Apple or at least chat with them about your battery life. It does make sense that, if it’s lit all the time, the battery would run down sooner, but that’s really a bummer. With every upgrade, battery life should last longer. I have a 4 with cellular. I don’t use the cellular function because the battery runs down so much sooner and I find I usually have my phone nearby anyway. Once, I left my phone at home when I went walking but the exercise updated as soon as I got back to my phone. I wasn’t expecting that and it was a nice surprise. Anyhow, I don’t blame you for being unhappy and would contact Apple. I hope you follow up with us.
Kristen says
I have the Apple Watch 5 as well. And yes the reason why your battery doesn’t last is because the screen is always on. I turned that feature off because it kills the battery. I would think that If it only said 20 calories then there is probably something wrong with your watch. I’ve had mine about a month and so far like it!
Melissa says
I have a 5 and do not have the battery life or exercise calibration issues so I would definitely talk to Apple about it. I love the always on feature and don’t see it impacting my battery life. Hope you can get it resolved!
Susan says
I just purchased the 5, and it’s my first Apple Watch. I am disappointed in the battery life as well. I don’t like that it is on and lit up during my workouts. And it does not do a good job tracking steps or stairs. I agree with your review, it’s good to know it’s not just me.
Lauren | Sunwashed Linen Blog says
Ahhhh! I was going to upgrade from the 2 to the 5 and now I’m going to have to think twice! Looking forward to reading all the comments!
Vivian G says
I currently have 3 and have been wanting to upgrade to a 5, but I don’t really like the new feature about the screen never turning off. I’m wondering if there is an option to where we can change that?
Kara says
Thanks for the review! I just recently had a problem with my calorie count and realized it was because somehow my weight got changed in the watch settings. My watch thought I was a much different weight than I am, so the calorie counting was all off. When I fixed it, the calorie count was back to normal. Hope that fixes that issue with the watch!
Kennedy Shaunna says
My 5 doesn’t have any of those issues. I think you have a dud.
Simply Styling says
I love your reviews on the Apple Watches ! I bought the 4 because of your review and thought about the 5 but until I know more I’m staying away from it ! As of now I’m content with my 4 !!!
Christi says
I also have had all the watches and just asked the other day at Apple about the face lit all the time and was told you can change settings so it only lights when you turn your wrist like the 4. I don’t have the five so didn’t ask how, but they say you can change that. Good luck.
Stacy H says
That sounds like a malfunction and pretty sure you can turn off the screen always on. You probably have an app on it that is not working properly and draining your battery. I’d take it to the Apple store Genius Bar and have it checked out.

Ugh I know!! I just sold my Apple Watch 2 to a friend and secretly want it back!! The battery is so bad on the 5. I regret buying it ?. And I live overseas so I can’t return it easily to the states. Is there even a return policy?? ?
DANIELLE K RIGG says
Sorry I cant help on this as I do not have an apple watch. I feel one less thing I need. I hate living with all this constant tech. Many times, I wish to go back to the simpler times when the cell phones were like as big as a brick and hardly used.. I am saying Saved By the Bell Times. LOL
I am looking forward to seeing any ideas you have on kids christmas presents.
Michelle says
I am thinking yours might be a dud! I upgraded the the 5 from the 2 and I find that my battery life is great! I wear it for about 14 hours a day and it has never even come close to having the battery die! There is also a way to go in the settings and turn off the feature where the watch face stays on all of the time. I do think that from a 4 to a 5 there are not as many great differences, but no way should your battery be draining so fast!
Jenn Wolfshohl says
I heard this about the 5 also from various reviews
So I went with the 4…..
Peyton Cline says
Thank you for the honest feedback! I have been thinking about upgrading my 4, but will definitely not do so now!!
Shannon says
I came back to the Apple Watch after leaving my Apple Watch 3 behind and returning to my traditional wrist watch and a Fitbit. I could not take the silly flick of the wrist and constant tapping on the screen just to check the time, etc. I am also surprised at how long my battery lasts on the 5 compared to the 3. I love my Apple Watch 5! I haven’t had any issues with battery life or calorie/fitness tracking. It could be you have a dud.
Cindy says
I’m thinking. The battery thing might just be your watch. I’ve had the 1 for years and just upgraded to the 5 a few months ago. I can now run for two hours in the morning (while the watch plays music) and my watch still has battery left at night.
DIANE E VANDENPLAS says
Shay, thanks for a great review! I was thinking of upgrading, but think I’ll hold onto my Apple Watch 4 for now. The only thing I don’t love about it is the battery life, and seems like the upgrade would only make that issue worse!
Sonia says
I upgraded to the 5, from the 3, and I almost returned it in the first two weeks because of battery. I turned off the “always on” screen setting and that has saved my battery. I also use the watch face with the most information, so I know this face takes up more battery than my 3 watch face did. I haven’t had the same issue with the workout thing, but I usually wear my watch pretty tight against my wrist. I had to turn off the setting where Siri turns on when you touch the dial on the side because I was in a yoga class once and the watch kept responding to the instructor because I kept accidentally pushing the dial! I was mortified…
Kathy says
We were just looking at the Best Buy Apple specials last night and one is Apple 4 watch for $295
Beth says
I got the 5 also and I love it! My battery lasts 2 solid days. In the watch settings under display and brightness you can set it so it’s not always on.
Jen Small says
Thank you for reviewing this! I actually feel the same way about my 11 promax too! Would love for you to review the iPhone 11, if you have upgraded.

I would at least check with Apple. All of those issues (aside from screen size) could be fixed with a bios upgrade. Most likely, they’ve received lots of complaints and will release a fix you can install soon! Hope this helps.
Rachel Kazmier says
I had the old 2 and got the 5. Siri quit after 18 days. Which meant no instant replacement, had to be shipped off to be fixed. Which stinks because literally I was less than a week past their 14 day return thing. I do have apple care and that didn’t matter. They refused to replace, but did “fix”. I had 100% battery yesterday as I headed to a concern e and last night when I took it off, 54%. Some days the battery seems to drain, others not. My usage is the same. But I don’t have cellular because my phone is my wallet so I’m never without it. Since my upgrade was a few generations apart, I do like the 5. But I never had the 3 or 4 like you. Hopefully your love affair will be RE kindled!
Dena says
Thanks for the review – I have a Series 3 and was considering getting the 5. I basically use it for step/exercise tracking, text notification and call notification. I love that I can be at home upstairs and even though my iPhone is downstairs on the counter, I can answer a call on my watch. Whereas before, I would often miss calls. The battery life on the 5 is practically a deal breaker for me. I don’t want to have to worry that my watch won’t make it through the day. I look forward to reading the comments to see if others are experiencing it too.
Nikki says
I just converted to an iPhone (and LOVE it) and have been thinking about getting the watch. Your review is very helpful.
Kay G says
Perhaps there is a setting where you don’t have to have screen on all the time. I love my Series 1 and thinking of upgrading. Thanks for the review.
Kim Kauffman says
I think the battery issue is tied to the screen feature. My husband just got one and he had to change the settings so it wouldn’t be lit up all the time. That fixed the issue for him!
Bri says
I’ve had the 4 for about 6 months (I had the 3 prior), and I noticed that recently the battery of the 4 keeps dying too!! I think it’s the new update for all the Apple Watches sadly.. it used to last me a day and a half but now it dies almost every evening.
Meghan says
Hi Shay! How does the trade in process work? Do you receive a credit for your old version to go towards the new one? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! They credit my card after it’s received by Apple.
Denise says
I upgraded from 4 to 5 this week because the battery life on my 4 at the end wouldn’t even last until Noon while others are saying how good the battery life of these are. After multiple trips to Apple and calling the Genius Bar they finally gave me a new watch. So . . . it could just be the watch. I’m pleased with the 5 so far since the battery will make it from the time I get up until I charge it at bedtime.
Lee Ann says
I’ve had the 4 and 5. My battery has never come close to dying during the day with either one. I wear it 16 hours.
I really like the “stay on” feature.
I do Crossfit work outs and neither one of my watches pick up the calories well with that type.
I’m happy with the 5. The only reason I upgraded was because I dropped the 4 and shattered the screen ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh no! I haven’t done that yet but I’m always afraid it will happen.
Deborah says
Thanks for this review! I was tempted to upgrade but will now hold off. Your honesty is one of the many reasons I trust your opinions!! 🙂
Julie says
I have a 3 and I love it so much! I use it for everything it seems…from tracking workouts, to using a countdown timer for my french press coffee every morning ;), to quickly answering texts and phone calls. I have been wondering if I “needed” to upgrade for a while so I’m glad you did this review! I think I’ll be staying with the 3 for the near future.
Here’s what I would say though, it truly sounds like your watch is a lemon! The battery should last a day for sure. And the calorie thing is crazy. I would make an appointment (don’t you love how you don’t need an appointment to buy anything, only to fix anything-lol?) and have them re-boot it or replace it. You’ve been wearing it for years and it it’s not functioning like it should I’m sure you’re right!
RE: the face on all the time…I’m crazy, but that makes me nervous! My one fear with the watch is once in a while it starts translating stuff I’m saying and I panic! Oh no, is it texting me yelling at my kids to my clients? ;). So when it goes dark it makes me feel “safer” like, okay, it’s not paying attention now. That could just be me being crazy, but the darkness sometimes gives me peace of mind?
Anyway, good luck with your decision! At the least, try to replace what you have now. Good luck!
Ariel says
I have to wonder if there’s a glitch in the Apple system – my 3 is no longer consistently tracking my activity (when I have had no issue in the past)! Thanks for your review.
J says
I love my Apple 5 watch…and don’t have a problem with the battery at all. And my activity is the same as well…sounds like you might have a faulty watch. My last watch was the 3. I upgraded after breaking the screen on my 3 and it wasn’t worth replacing. I seriously love the EKG function on the 5. This past year my daughter was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia and at times I feel my heart do funny things so this has helped me with peace of mind.
Kristen says
I still have my 2! I love it and it works great still. I’m nervous I won’t like the new ones which is why I’ve been hesitant to upgrade!??
Julia says
I upgraded from a 3 to a 5 because my 3 screen broke and I love the 5! I have no problem with my activity tracker so that might be a problem your watch is having and you might need a new one. I turned off the “always on” feature because it bugged me and my watch charge lasts longer now. It also charges super fast which I love.
Jenna Campbell says
I would definitely talk to Apple! I upgraded from a series 2 to a 5 and have been really pleased! I do start a workout whenever I am working out, I think that may help with more accurate calorie counting but I haven’t had an issue with my battery. Maybe they could trade it out for you! ??????Good luck!!!
Erin says
You can actually change the settings on your 5 to make the display not always be on! It helps a bit, but the battery life is still no match for the 3/4 🙁
Amanda says
I wear my watch all day usually 15 hrs and my watch is at about 50% when I charge it at night. I mean I love mine but I upgraded mine from a 2 to a 5. I also turned off every notification setting except texts and emails.
You can also turn off the always on setting.
Christine Russell says
Hi Shea. I have never owned a Apple Watch before and just switched from a Samsung phone to the 11 Pro Max. It was a hard decision. So since I was already buried in phone debt I figured let’s get the Apple Watch 5 too. I really like it but I think it’s because I don’t have any other watch to compare it to. The battery is a bit “less” than I expected and like others I don’t know when to take it off. I love the sleep app so I want to wear it to bed which is weird because I don’t like wearing anything on my arms to bed. So I never know when to charge it. At said it charges so fast I love that. I have taken some of the alerts off it because I was told that wears down the battery life So I don’t need to see Instagram and Facebook updates. I did leave my phone at home one day and thought my watch would step in but no since I didn’t buy the one with the cellular coverage. I do love the watch because I have never had one before. I am curious what others say. I would still buy it.
Melani says
I like that mine turns off when I’m not actively using it. If Apple was really smart the 6 will have the option for both.
oh you’re working out doing planks and want to see your watch… screen on
oh you’re in a movie and want the screen off unless you look at the watch…screen off
Ranisa Brletich says
The 5 has that option. It also has theatre mode.
Nikki says
I agree with you, I am less than impressed with the 5. I am seeing the same issue with the battery life. With my 4, I could charge it every other day. With the 5, I barely make it through one day before needing to charge. I am also finding it to have some syncing issues + other glitches (i.e. my messages don’t always update).
Tara says
I think you might have a dud! Maybe? Don’t quote me on that. I upgraded from the 2 to the 5 and I love it. But…the battery on my 2 would never last me more than 24 hours. If I wore it all day and slept with it on, I had to charge it first thing in the morning. Same with my 5 but I don’t ever wear it while sleeping. Also, I do think you can change the face setting so that it’s not lit up. I don’t use the watch to it’s full potential though – mostly for texting, tracking my workouts and a few other minor things like my calendar reminders at work, etc. I turned off email notifications since my wrist would never stop twitching if I kept it on due to the amount I get from work. I think you should go talk to them!
Ranisa Brletich says
I just got my first Apple Watch. I was going to wait for your review but ended up just getting the 5. I can’t say that I have anything to compare it to but I do love it. It sounds like your watch does have issues. I would take it in. I went to an Apple Watch session at the Apple store. They gave me some tips and tricks. I was controlling the watch with the app on my phone and there is so much you can do straight from the watch. The calorie thing alone would have me running to the store. You can turn off the always on feature. Mine has never died. I have also never checked to see how battery I have left at bedtime. Also, I sleep much more than you so your watch battery does get used more.
Staci Frick says
I literally JUST got the 5 on Wednesday. I was using the Fit bit versa previously and after 2 of them died on me in 4 months I was done with them. This is my first Apple Watch and I love the features that go along with it! Coming from a Fitbit this is fantastic! ? Especially the EKG for your heart. BUT I have the same sentiments on the battery life! It’s terrible! Does not quite last the whole day! So maybe mine is a dud too buuuutt it sounds like we’re in the same boat! I’m heading out for a run now to try the workout feature, crossing my fingers it’ll be fantastic.?
Debbra Weber says
Thank you for sharing. I just got an Apple Watch a few months ago and was tempted to upgrade from the 4 to the 5 but I will hold off now. I hope they can figure something out with your battery so you don’t have to deal with that until the 6 comes out.
Kimm says
I’ve had the 5 for about a month or so now and it’s my favorite of them all. I’ve had all of them and I think this one is the best. I don’t have any battery issue, so I would def contact Apple.
Kaytlin says
Bummer! I am an every-other-model kind of upgrader, so I was hoping to move up from my Apple Watch 3 to the 5, but it sounds like there is no real moving “up”! So sorry that your experience hasn’t been great. I personally like having my screen always off and only waking upon tap because, like your friend, I find the screen distracting even at just wrist raise. I set my display settings to Wake for 70 seconds after being tapped as my planking skills are at less than 70 seconds long…ha! Have you tried turning off the Always On feature to see if your battery life improves? If not, I’d be returning it! As for the calorie reading, did your Health data get deleted on your phone during a recent iOS upgrade (the part where you put in your height, weight, etc)? Hope Apple sorts it out and gets it right for you!
Joanne Martinez says
Hi Shay, Apple employee here (work in Finance, not Tech but adding some insight here as a Apple lifer). Your battery should be better than you are describing. If you are using the cellular function, I could see how it would cause more of a decrease in battery, but it should last longer than the 4, for sure, at least 16-18 hours. Also, the screen might appear smaller, but the bezel is thinner allowing for more surface area of the screen. Are you using the workout app to log your exercise? I have noticed even with the other models, that it “pays more attention’ to your heart rate if your work out app knows what you are doing. This has been my experience.
Additionally, make sure your software is updated. I think it needed an update out of the box, and some of the issues you described could be bugs. Lastly, please make an appointment with your Apple Store or online tech support, and they can definitely help you to LOVE your watch again!
Katie says
I wonder if you can change the settings so the screen isn’t always on and see if that makes a difference with your battery life. Just an idea.
I don’t have the 5 (I either have the 3 or 4–not sure) and I just recently did the Apple update and now my battery has been dying in the evening, which it never did before. So annoying!
Jen says
I have a 3 and have noooo plans to change until it dies a natural death someday! I like it just the way it is.
Chrys says
I still have the Apple Watch 1, but literally the only difference between the 4 & 5 is the ability to leave the screen on and they added a compass. ? That’s why they aren’t selling the 4 anymore…because it’s very much like the 5. But definitely hit up Apple and see what they say, girl. I would be so MAD if I only burned 30 calories after dying on the Peleton haha.
Emily says
I feel like you definitely have a dud! 20 calories on the Peloton?! that seems not right!! I have the 5 and love it. I always have it on and my battery is about 40% when I charge it at night.
Cheryl says
I haven’t purchased an Apple Watch yet. I would love to hear what gifts you and others are requesting for Christmas this year.
Lauren G. says
Hi Shay! I have the 5 and my battery life is pretty good. Usually around 20-30% when I go to charge at night. I have a Peloton and had to sync the app to my health app on the iPhone and then after I have completed a workout it takes a few mins but will add to my calorie and exercise ring. Hope this helps.
Stacey says
I am now so curious because my current watch does not clock my workouts or calories correctly. I just told a friend that I was quitting my watch. I can turn on my workout and do 45 minutes and it will say I’ve moved for 15. It will also tell me to stand up when I am standing. I am going to follow along and read all the comments to see if there is a fix. Thanks for the post!
Natalie says
I’m sitting here giggling at myself. You’ve had five Apple watches and I’ve had none! Ha! I am afraid to take the plunge. Would purchasing a watch cause me to become even more addicted to technology? I feel like my phone already steals too much time from my daily life. Oh a text? Let me stop and be distracted for a few minutes. A missed call? Another distraction. Honestly I’m afraid that I would love the Apple watch and I’d have no self control.
Krista says
I’m with Erika and Sheaffer on this post 🙂
Melody Sansgaard says
There should be an option to reset fitness calibration on your Apple watch so it tracks all of your exercise.
Katie Allred says
I patiently waiting for my 1 to die ?. The battery is pretty bad on mine but that’s because it’s a few years old. I have to charge it midday…
Ann says
On the apple watch app on your phone you can look at Usage and Standby (under General). I have a 4 but the battery suddenly started draining really quickly. For some reason the usage and standby were the same – i.e. instead of the watch infrequently updating/checking an app/connecting with my phone it was doing it constantly. I never did find out exactly which app was to blame but I went through all the apps on my watch and deleted all the ones I didn’t use and that made a huge difference. Might be something else to try.
Loren says
Running a half marathon, my girlfriends and I agree that the calorie tracker etc is not accurate.
Shannon says
I am right there with you on the 5! Battery doesn’t last at all compared with the 3. I do high intensity boot camp workouts and my 3 would show normal calorie burns, some days my 5 will say I burned 100 calories in an intense workout. Ha!!!

So I dont know if you are gonna see this but I have an older version and the main reason I dont like it is everytime I am on the treadmill or my peleton, my activity does not track correctly. Which model do you feel works the best for that feature???

I honestly thought the 1 through 4 worked great and all calculated about the same.

I got the 5 too! Turned off the “always on” feature and I’ve only had to charge every other night. So far so good!

My apple 1 watch was awful like that. I never wore it b/c the battery life was so horrible. Got the apple 4 watch last year for Christmas and LOVE it. It is SO great. Battery life is a huge deal. Sorry you can’t just get your 4 back. I love how the 4 just figures out you are working out and tracks it. Love it being waterproof and having cell service. It is the best!
