Apple Watch Part 3

Apple Watch 3 Review

Happy, happy Wednesday, friends!

Before we start, I have to say WOWZERS to all of the comments yesterday!!  I am so absolutely thrilled that you ladies wanted to conquer May with me.  It was really inspiring!!  If you haven’t checked out that post, make sure you do because I’m giving away a super cute Barrington tote as well!  That giveaway ends tomorrow morning, so head there NOW!!

Today, I’m talking all about my new Apple Watch 3.

Now, if you’re new around here, let me go back a minute…I am the LAST person on the planet who needs an Apple Watch.  Like seriously, I am so technologically inept that if I can fall in love with one, you can too.  Like for real, I still call Siri “Suri” (because I am more versed on pop culture and Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ child than I am on talking to my Apple devices).

Two years ago, I bought myself an Apple Watch and Andrew legit told me that I wouldn’t know how to work it…because he knows me THAT WELL, but friends, it changed my life!!

You can read all about why I love my Apple Watch so much HERE.  The reasons are all still the same, but the only difference now is that they’ve tweaked this baby a bit since then.  Last year, they came out with…

…the Apple Watch Series 2 and I sold my first one to a friend and bought that one instead because…IT WAS WATERPROOF!

I mean…I basically never take it off 🙂 .  You can read all about my love of the Apple Watch 2 HERE.

So, I had heard about the Apple Watch Series 3, and was contemplating another upgrade, when I received an email from Apple telling me I could trade in my 2 for a 3 and get $125 credit applied to the upgrade.  I took the email and went to my local Apple Store to check them out and friends…just when I thought this silly watch couldn’t get any better…

…it did because the 3 has cellular on it.

Yes.

That’s right.

I can now use my watch a part from my phone to make calls, texts and search the internet with Siri (not Suri).

(If you have no clue what I’m talking about at this point, refer back to my post on the first Apple Watch HERE!)

So, the first two Apple watches needed to be near-ish your phone in order to make/receive phone calls and/or texts along with using Pandora and other internet based apps.  So, at home, I could talk on my watch and such with my phone downstairs in my purse, but the minute I set out to walk the dog, etc., I could no longer do that.  With the three, if you call your cellphone carrier and add the watch to your existing plan, then you can use it independently from your phone (it was $10 a month for me to add mine to my plan).

So, here are some examples of things I do with my watch without my phone:

1: I walk the dogs, go for runs, bike rides, etc without my phone every single day.  I don’t bring my phone because I don’t want to carry one extra thing and I also don’t want to be bothered with it while I’m out and about.  BUT, I’ve always been a little nervous because what if I have an emergency?  What if I fall and get hurt?  What if (God forbid) the dogs get hit by a car?  What if I get attacked by a dog OR PERSON?  I am out by myself with no phone.  Now, I can use my watch.  I can call and/or text without having to have my phone out and about with me.  Also, what if there is an emergency at home that I need to return for?  No one could reach me either…but now, they can.

2: I can listen to Pandora and other things like that without my phone.  I hook my watch up to my wireless headphones and bam!  I’m out running and listening to Pandora without having to bring my phone along.

3: I can use apps to pay for things with my watch.  We live near a Starbucks, so I’m always walking/running/biking over there and now, I can just open the Starbucks app on my watch to pay for drinks and such without having to have my phone or wallet.  You can also use things like Apple Pay and other apps to make charges with your watch.

4: If I hop in my car to go pick up my kids, run an errand or whatnot, I don’t necessarily need to bring my phone…if I need to make/receive a call/text while I’m out, I can do so.

A few other random tidbits:
1: If you look back, my first watch was “gold”, my second watch was “rose gold” and now my third one is also called “gold”…but it looks rose gold to me.  I even held up my new one with my old one that day at the Apple store and they looked pretty identical, but the Series 3 is called “gold” even though it looks pink (especially compared to my first one!).
2: I did not like the band that my Series 3 came with, so I immediately bought a new one from the Apple Store and switched it out.  I wanted the 42mm gold watch and unfortunately for me, I didn’t love the band (the color or the material), so I just paid for a new band and swapped it out.
3: Speaking of bands, I always buy my bands at the Apple store.  I bought one two years ago on Amazon because it was less expensive and it broke the first day I wore it.  Thankfully, I found my watch face on my rug in the living room, but what if I’d been out and about when it broke?  After that, I decided just to stick to bands sold at the Apple store.

I mean, I’m sure there are many, many, many other things I can do with my watch now that I couldn’t before…but let me remind you, I’m technologically challenged, so I’m learning them more slowly 🙂 .

So, I keep upgrading because they keep making it better.  First, it became waterproof and now, it’s independent from my phone (and still waterproof!).  Like seriously, what’s next?  Will the Apple Watch 4 be able to fold my laundry?  I mean…how can they top the three????

Now, I told you guys on Monday that I spontaneously decided to declare this giveaway week…which means today…

I’m giving one lucky winner an APPLE WATCH 3!

  • Shan Rocha May 2, 2018 at 6:03 am

U convinced me to get one last year and I LOVE it! Only take it off when I sleep! But I didn’t get the cellular version bc I’m too cheap to pay for the extra service and I didn’t like the red dial lol

      Same😃

My graduating daughter wants this sooo bad….meawhile I’m overhere wondering if there is an Android version of that…I’m even more technology challenged than you…I am afraid of the high “techiness” of Apple products! LOL

  • Stacy DeAnda May 2, 2018 at 6:17 am

I bought my Apple Watch after your first review and love it!!! I now kind of want an upgrade 😜

  • D'Anna May 2, 2018 at 6:37 am

They just announced on a national news that an Apple Watch saved a very young girl who did not know she was having a heart attack but went to the Dr. B/c her Apple Watch showed her resting heart rate at a 190 bpm!!! Yes- I ‘d love that function(along with all of the others)!

  • Lynda Clark May 2, 2018 at 7:06 am

Such a generous offer, thank you! You convinced me that I do need an upgrade from the first series ; )

  • Laura May 2, 2018 at 7:11 am

    I’m HOPING for an Apple Watch for Mother’s Day…….{sigh}

  • Bethany Skobel May 2, 2018 at 7:19 am

A Barrington tote AND an Apple Watch in the same week? Wahooooo!!!!

  • Kerri May 2, 2018 at 7:21 am

Please note that you have to put the watch in “waterproof” mode before you it is waterproof. It is not just waterproof all the time. My husband and I both have one, but he upgraded when they first came out so he didn’t have any mishaps at the lake. The worst part is the remembering to change it to waterproof mode. As a teacher I couldn’t live without mine, since we aren’t allowed to have our phones out at school. I’m not a techy person ata ll.

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 7:43 am

I never have! I don’t know if that’s accurate info or if you guys just got duds. I’ve always just gotten in the water and they work just fine.

      • Missy B May 2, 2018 at 7:29 pm

I agree… mine is waterproof. The water drop button blows the water out of the speaker when you are done, but I rarely bother with it.

      • Sheri May 3, 2018 at 10:03 am

I had no idea there was a waterproof button!! I wear mine in the shower every day…..no problems yet…..:)

  • Laura V. May 2, 2018 at 7:23 am

What a fun giveaway! Love my iPhone but never realized what the watch can do!

  • Glenda Ritter May 2, 2018 at 7:33 am

I got an old 1st series and would love the update!

  • Jessie May 2, 2018 at 7:36 am

Shay! How fun and generous of you! I’m 31 weeks pregnant with our first and have been thinking about postpartum fitness and this motivates me so much. Thinking my push gift needs to be an Apple Watch…

  • Lily Frintner May 2, 2018 at 7:40 am

Love your blogs, recipes and your sweet beautiful family. I got my my first Apple Watch because of your post. I still have the series 1. Would love to win this as a mother’s day gift

  • Becky May 2, 2018 at 7:42 am

I love my series one, but really think I neeeedddd a waterproof one! Great info on the watch!

  • Rebekah Dill May 2, 2018 at 7:42 am

SO FUN!!!!! fingers are crossed! you’ve convinced me I need one 🙂

  • Nicole May 2, 2018 at 7:42 am

I purchased my Apple watch after your last review. I wear it every day and love it, especially feeling like I can “disconnect” (physically) from my phone, without missing any important/emergent texts/calls as I’m able to quickly look at my watch. Still in awe at all the watch can do! Thank you for your time in the upgrade review.

  • KRE May 2, 2018 at 7:43 am

I enjoy your reviews on the watch. It helped me decide on getting last year. Are you concerned at all about having a cellular device attached to you all day? That is one of the reasons I won’t upgrade from my series 2 watch.

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:14 pm

You can switch it off easily! So, you can switch it off and then turn it right back on in like one second.

  • Connie May 2, 2018 at 7:47 am

Guess it doesn’t take a picture, does it?

  • Kylie May 2, 2018 at 7:55 am

Love the review! I have the original Apple Watch and am definitely hoping to upgrade soon. Really like that the new one is cellular too! 🙂

  • Allie May 2, 2018 at 7:56 am

    That would be amazing!!!!

  • Sarah B May 2, 2018 at 7:57 am

I was reading this while watching the Today show and this story came on! It can save lives!

    https://www.today.com/video/how-an-apple-watch-heart-monitor-saved-a-florida-teen-s-life-1223923267835

  • Sara Oliver May 2, 2018 at 8:02 am

Love my Apple Watch. I just love everything Apple. So easy to use. Can’t imagine life without them. The timer is one of the best features.

  • Carolyn May 2, 2018 at 8:04 am

There was just a story on GMA about a girl who was wearing an Apple Watch and it suddenly showed her heart rate at 190 beats!! She was an active young lady so she was surprised. She went to the ER and they diagnosed her with Kidney disease. She said if she wasn’t wearing a watch she would never have known her heart rate was so high or that she had kidney problems because she felt fine otherwise.

  • Molly Bierens May 2, 2018 at 8:05 am

Love my Apple Watch!! I have the 2 now and love that its waterproof. It would be great to have the cellular service on the watch so I don’t need to have my phone on me. 🙂

  • lilly May 2, 2018 at 8:12 am

i love my iwatch 2! can’t live without it now!! shay, now you need to get the ipods!!! I hesitate so much at the beginning and now its all I use, specially so comfortable while running.

  • LeeAnn May 2, 2018 at 8:21 am

What a fun giveaway! I’ve been contemplating if I “need” an Apple watch….I think I do!

  • Lois May 2, 2018 at 8:25 am

So kind of you to review this watch for us, & then offer us the opportunity to win one!

  • Ella May 2, 2018 at 8:28 am

I’ve been debating for the longest time whether to get an Apple Watch or Fitbit ionic (and now versa). I still can’t decide!

What wireless headphones do you use with your watch? I bought some cheap ones from amazon but they’re always falling out.

  • Melanie Smith May 2, 2018 at 8:32 am

I love ready about your daily life & family! This is an awesome give away. I would love to win the Apple Watch!

  • Dena Randall May 2, 2018 at 8:36 am

You have totally convinced me! I think I need one.:-)

  • Susanne May 2, 2018 at 8:40 am

Wow! What an awesome giveaway. I’m the same way technologically! 🙈

  • Chrystianne May 2, 2018 at 8:42 am

I DESPERATELY need a new Apple Watch!! I have the first one and the battery life on it is tragic (dead by dinner time, which is when I do most of my running around in the kitchen). It is also really slow, especially in sending messages, which defeats the whole purpose of having it. I won’t win this giveaway though because I never win anything haha. How is the battery life on this new one Shay?

  • Laci May 2, 2018 at 8:43 am

I would LOVE to upgrade my watch from a Series 1 to a 3! Waterproof and Pandora through my watch would make running so much easier!!

  • Shawna May 2, 2018 at 8:47 am

Fingers crossed! I love your blog!

  • Michelle May 2, 2018 at 8:49 am

Oh wow! What a giveaway, so exciting for whoever wins it!

  • Claire Andrade May 2, 2018 at 8:51 am

I think I would love an Apple Watch but I worry that I will then never wear my nice Kate Spade and Coach watches (that weren’t cheap either!) How do you handle it? Do you still wear your nice “traditional” watches?

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:13 pm

I do when I go places that are “nice”, but when I”m home, I have my watch on 24/7 and most of the time when I leave, I keep it on and don’t switch.

  • carly May 2, 2018 at 8:52 am

Omg I love this! I currently have a Fitbit but have been eyeing the Apple Watch for a little.

  • Wendy May 2, 2018 at 8:54 am

I sold my series 1 and got the series 3 for Christmas…where has it been all my life! I LOVE it.

  • Skimama May 2, 2018 at 8:54 am

“Will the Apple Watch 4 be able to fold my laundry?” Bwaahaahaa. I would pay a million dollars for that!!

  • Lisa May 2, 2018 at 8:57 am

I purchased my Apple Watch after your first review of yours. After reading this I think it might be time for an upgrade!!! Thanks for sharing! Can you share your favorite pandora stations? I can never find a good “going for a walk” station!

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:12 pm

I’m so lame. For walking, I either do praise and worship music (if I’m feelin’ spiritual) or like the Justin Timberlake or Taylor Swift stations.

      • Abby May 2, 2018 at 2:26 pm

I can’t get my Apple Watch 3 to play pandora. Any tips?

        • Mix and Match Mama May 3, 2018 at 5:35 am

Do you have the app set up correctly on your phone? Do you need to do an update?

  • Marina May 2, 2018 at 8:59 am

I still have the very first one and it works so well, except the battery! How long does the battery last on the series 3?

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:12 pm

I can go two days without charging it!!!

  • Lisa May 2, 2018 at 9:00 am

I was debating an Apple watch, you have sold me!

  • Amanda @ That Inspired Chick May 2, 2018 at 9:06 am

I still have the first series watch and all of the things it does now are things I knew it would eventually do! I should have waited. I barely use it anymore. Maybe time to upgrade!
    That Inspired Chick

  • Shannon Gerard May 2, 2018 at 9:09 am

An Apple Watch would be so amazing!! I am a new mom going back to work Monday (baby is 3mo) and I know I won’t be able to have my phone on me all the time. An Apple Watch would truly be such a comfort and life saver!

  • Jennie May 2, 2018 at 9:09 am

This almost makes me want to switch from Samsung to Apple! Almost! LOL

  • Winnie May 2, 2018 at 9:10 am

Just entered! The Apple watch would be a perfect Mother’s Day gift for myself.

  • Patty May 2, 2018 at 9:16 am

I’m technologically challenged, too, but married to a nerd. Challenge accepted in learning to use an Apple Watch! Wouldn’t he be surprised if I could do it, too?

  • Kathy May 2, 2018 at 9:16 am

Thanks for the giveaway! I have a series 2 watch which I LOVE. I didn’t think I needed to upgrade, but now, maybe…..?

As for bands, I think you must have gotten a lemon. I have purchased at least 4 bands from Amazon, and they’ve been great. No problems at all. And they’re WAY cheaper than Apple, so I can switch them up when I feel like it.

    Have a great day!

  • vivian thoma May 2, 2018 at 9:17 am

Morning Shay. Yesterday I was out shopping and stopped in Ulta to see if I could find the eyelash curler that you use. However, I couldn’t recall the brand. The wonderful staff tried to help but without the brand name we didn’t have any luck.. I came home and looked through your past posts but couldn’t find it Could you please let me know the brand of your eyelash curler.
    Thanks so much
    Viv

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:11 pm

      Laura Mercier! It’s the BEST!!

  • Lindsay May 2, 2018 at 9:21 am

I also bought mine after your last review and I love it! Quick question – I have been thinking about buying wireless headphones. Could you recommend what you are using? Did you buy the air pods? Thanks!

    • Kerry May 3, 2018 at 8:44 am

I have the Apple Airpods and they are life changing. They are expensive for earbuds but I love mine. So easy to use and like everything else Apple…they just work!

  • Angela Ellingson May 2, 2018 at 9:33 am

Ahh! I want an apple watch so badly! It doesn’t ever quite make the cut in the budget though. 😉 Love when you do these reviews!

  • Jaime May 2, 2018 at 9:34 am

Silly question – but how do you get the temperature (degrees) to show on your modular screen? Is it an app? The only weather I can view is the umbrella with the percentage chance of rain!

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:10 pm

You go into the Watch app on your iPhone and from there, you move those things around.

  • Meg May 2, 2018 at 9:52 am

Oh my goodness, I was just reading through your Apple Watch reviews yesterday because I was thinking of asking for one for Mother’s Day and my birthday 😁. So glad to hear you like the new one just as much and so sweet of you to offer a giveaway!!!! Now for the 4….you need to be able to just say “Siri, fold the laundry”, “Siri feed the dog”, “Siri, clean the house” 😂

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:10 pm

      Hahahahahaha!

  • Cathy Carter May 2, 2018 at 9:52 am

I got the Apple Watch 2 because of your last review! Hoping to win the giveaway for the 3, but if not , I’ll be making a trip to the Apple store to upgrade!!!! So excited!!

  • Shelly May 2, 2018 at 10:08 am

I’ve so been on the fence….I KNOW I want one but I also know I will become addicted and want to upgrade every time. ha! I have a Fit Bit Blaze because it came free from a work challenge. So yeah…winning would totally get my addiction rolling.

  • Angela K. May 2, 2018 at 10:08 am

  • Sarah May 2, 2018 at 10:54 am

Shay – will you be going to the GO Wild Planners Conference this year?

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:09 pm

Not this year. I love those girls though!!

  • Emily May 2, 2018 at 11:01 am

What wireless headphones do you use? I am having a hard time finding a good pair.

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:09 pm

      I should know the name…but I don’t. I don’t think they’re fancy…because I wouldn’t know what to do with fancy. Hahahaha!

    • Meg May 2, 2018 at 8:31 pm

I love my skull candy ones 😉

  • Leslie May 2, 2018 at 11:15 am

Susan Williams’ comment yesterday about walking more and loosing 20 lbs. after reading your 2nd Apple watch post really has resonated with me. I’ve been shopping for a fitness tracker watch because I need to stay more active and your post and readers’ comments have convinced me I “need!” an Apple watch. I’ll keep you posted on the 20 lbs!

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:08 pm

Good luck!! Seriously, keep me posted!

  • Amy May 2, 2018 at 11:21 am

Did your watch come with the yellow band, or did you have to purchase that separately….I love that color!!!!

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 12:07 pm

      I purchased it separately!

  • Angie G May 2, 2018 at 11:22 am

I keep contemplating an Apple watch from your reviews! I actually went back and read your MacBook post when I switched couple of years ago to Mac for some tips and tricks for the everyday user like us! 🙂 The 3 series might be what makes me finally go for the Apple watch!!
    http://www.angiegillikin.com

  • Michelle Reiter May 2, 2018 at 11:23 am

I have been eyeing an apple watch and have read all of your reviews in preparation haha!

  • Emily L May 2, 2018 at 11:24 am

I look forward to reading your blog every morning, its part of my morning quiet time routine :). I have been wanting to get an Apple watch since reading your first post on why you love yours! Unfortunately, being new home owners, pursuing a masters degree, & having a 2 year old and newborn due any day now means the Apple watch is not high on my husband & I’s priority list. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

  • Ana Espindola May 2, 2018 at 11:31 am

  • Renee King May 2, 2018 at 11:37 am

One of the best giveaways yet. I always admire the watches from afar! It would be so handy at work to not have my phone near by, but be accessible for emergencies!

  • Amy May 2, 2018 at 11:49 am

I heard on the TODAY Show this morning, that a women had her Apple Watch on at church. Her blood pressure went through the roof. It alerted her to seek medical attention right away. Which then did, turns out her kidneys with failing her. She said the apple watch saved her life and this feature she did not know it even had. She is trying to get her story out so more know about it. AMAZING what technology can to do help us.

Thank you so much for this post! The second you explained it’s untethered I thought of if this could be used for my mom, who lives alone, as a fall alert sort of device? I’ve been looking into home alert systems but none seem like the type she would actually wear, plus their range is limited to home. She doesn’t have an iPhone so I’m wondering if I can add the watch to my iPhone and then turn off all the incoming alerts so she can just use it for outgoing calls? Will definitely investigate.

  • Michelle May 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm

This is so great! I’m in the process of becoming a foster mom and this watch could be a lifesaver! Thank you!

  • Becca Maddigan May 2, 2018 at 1:18 pm

Great post!!! I have been looking at the Apple Watch 3! I have the first one and it’s the Only thing that keeps me motivated to be consistently active! Since those three little rings are what I use it for the majority of the time it was hard for me to justify buying a new one but you make it sound like a dream!!

  • Jennifer Ward May 2, 2018 at 1:35 pm

Do you remember if your yellow band is called lemonade or flash?

    • Mix and Match Mama May 2, 2018 at 2:21 pm

      I’m almost positive it’s lemonade!

  • Samantha May 2, 2018 at 2:29 pm

Soon to be mom and I’ve been thinking I need an Apple Watch so I don’t have to hold my phone or keep track of it. Fingers crossed!

  • Teri May 2, 2018 at 2:34 pm

So SAD that the Apple Watch competition is only for US residents 😢 I am so DESPERATE for an Apple Watch but can’t afford one. Been eyeing one out for months as I do quiet a bit of running and would love to monitor my heart rate and mileage. I also struggle anxiety after having Myocharditis when I was 18 – the heart rate monitor feature would be something of great interest to me about the watch as well.

I follow your blog and wonderful family all the way from South Africa – you are such an inspiration to me and the family I want to stArt having with my wonderful husband soon, God willing.

Keep well Shay and keep up the wonderful blog

  • Ellen Perine May 2, 2018 at 2:50 pm

Thank you for sharing your views on the Apple 3 watch. It is confusing to me and I take what you say to be the truth! After reading your posts on the Kendall this past December I ordered one. I love it! I need an Apple watch to help monitor my health. I need to Bri g my weight and blood pressure down.

  • Colleen May 2, 2018 at 3:33 pm

What a fun giveaway! I have been debating getting an Apple Watch for awhile now and your reviews push me closer. My question is probably silly, but when you talk on the “phone” with your watch, do you just talk? Or do you wear earbuds? If you just talk, do people seem to be able to hear you okay? I would love that feature because keeping up with my phone and a bunch of littles is nearly impossible!! Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama May 3, 2018 at 5:34 am

That’s actually a really good question! Yes, you just “talk”. Easy as that!

  • Christyna Stuart May 2, 2018 at 3:53 pm

How kind of you!! So funny that i saw this post because I just lost my apple watch yesterday. I was driving a rental car while my car was getting fixed and left it in there. And…. it’s gone! I love your yellow band btw!

  • Pamela May 2, 2018 at 4:32 pm

Hi Shay, I met you and your sweet family when I was working at the at Williams-Sonoma store in Southlake – I was so excited!!! Anyway, I would love to win an Apple Watch!!! Love all your posts especially your book reviews – I’m a big reader. I like that you have something for everyone and every age – thank you❤️

  • Jennifer Robertson May 2, 2018 at 4:43 pm

I went and bought the Apple watch series 1 after reading a while back how much you loved yours! Now I see my watch is way behind the game. 🙁

  • Sarah Shaneyfelt May 2, 2018 at 4:57 pm

I have the Apple Watch 2 but this is really making me want to buy the 3!!!! I love that you get the bigger watch faces, too, because I would never have thought of that. My next one will be the bigger face!

Costco sells the Apple Watch series 3 at a discount — In fact, the ones without cellular is $35 off their discounted price (now thru 5/7).

    • May May 2, 2018 at 6:04 pm

P.S. I love my Apple Watch!

  • Ann May 2, 2018 at 6:19 pm

This is amazing!!! My fingers, toes, arms, and legs are crossed! I went back and forth for about a month on whether or not to get an Apple Watch, and decided against it because of price. I still show my husband fun things it does (closing rings) etc for fitness. I would looooove to win this! I accidentally clicked out of the Twitter box before typing in my whole username: @MissAnnShanghai

  • Abby Burk May 2, 2018 at 8:01 pm

What an amazing giveaway! This pregnant teacher would love to win!

  • Kari C May 2, 2018 at 9:11 pm

Love this review and love your blog. Thinking of upgrading my series 1. Is the larger face the way to go? I can’t decide…

    • Mix and Match Mama May 3, 2018 at 5:33 am

      I think so!!

  • Stephanie May 3, 2018 at 2:20 am

The watch also features an emergency button feature!! A lot of people don’t know about it but it could also be a great lifesaver if you can’t make a phone call easily!

Hi! I was wondering, what size is the face of your apple watch 3? Is it the 38mm or 42mm? thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama May 3, 2018 at 2:17 pm

      42mm!

  • Beth May 3, 2018 at 2:50 pm

You have great taste! I’ve noticed that very few of your outfits include your Apple Watch. I would love to see more pictures of how your wear it in everyday life. There are two or three pictures of you wearing it with bracelets. Could you do more in the future?

  • Rachel May 3, 2018 at 3:03 pm

I’m a new mom and now feel like I have to have an apple watch! My friend has the 42mm as well and her only complaint is that she has a small wrist and has a hard time finding watch bands that fit. What has been your experience on this?

    • Mix and Match Mama May 4, 2018 at 5:50 am

All of the Apple bands fit me! Most of them, come with two bottom bands (s/m and l/xl).

  • Donna May 5, 2018 at 2:50 pm

Thanks so much for the in-depth review of the I phone 3. I have been trying to figure out a good way to carry my cell phone when I have my grandkids because I need my hands free and this is perfect. I didn’t realize that it had th cellular option available now. Would love to win this but will be saving towards treating myself to one. Enjoy your summer with those precious children!

  • Denise Thompson May 5, 2018 at 3:12 pm

  • Nikole Bohn May 6, 2018 at 11:56 am

When I say I love my watches, I really do! I have close to 20! I currently have the Fossil smart watch and love it, and never thought of getting an Apple Watch. I figured my Fossil watch was enough paired with my iPhone. But, after reading your review I now realize I need the Apple Watch! It does so much more than mine! Thanks for the wonderful review!

  • Crystal mcveigh May 6, 2018 at 3:13 pm

Awe man! I’m Canadian!!! I love my Apple Watch but it’s the first series! I need this in my life! You sold me on it! Haha. Xo

  • Amber May 6, 2018 at 3:29 pm

I love this review! I’m a nurse in Dallas and we can’t have cell phones on us in patient rooms or at the desk. So I ❤️ the feature you can see a call or text! I’ve missed calls and didn’t get them until late in the day on an crazy busy day! This might be my solution!!

  • Kim covington May 6, 2018 at 5:35 pm

    Would love to win this!

  • Ashley May 7, 2018 at 7:45 am

Hi Shay! I have a question about the Apple Watch trade in process, did you have to send your watch in and wait for a gift card or can you trade it and get a new one right away at the Apple store?

    • Mix and Match Mama May 7, 2018 at 1:03 pm

I traded it in right there in store!

  • Ashley May 7, 2018 at 7:45 am

Hey Shay! LOVE your blog… just wanted to give you a heads up that I bought a 3rd gen Apple Watch for my husband after reading your reviews. He LOVES it but I thought it may be worth mentioning ( you may have already discovered) that Pandora has removes their app from the Apple Watch as of mid April and will not be updating for now.
Pandora streaming away from phone was a huge plus in my mind… so just passing along if you want to update post!

    • Mix and Match Mama May 7, 2018 at 1:01 pm

I know! I downloaded a bunch of music and listen to iheartradio instead!

  • Kristen May 7, 2018 at 11:34 am

I read you May goals and this blog post and thought you may like an app i recently discovered. You can keep track of your water throughout the day. I love it so much the timer lost its spot on my watch face now. :-p You can enter the water your drink in through the watch and see a progress bar right on the face of the watch. I also have four kiddos and its a nice reminder to drink water throughout the day.

I know I am late on this post, but just now catching up….Do you use a screen protector on your Apple Watch? I just got one and already have a scratch on it 🙁 Curious if this is something I should look into, but I’m wondering if it will feel bulky on the tiny watch.

    • Mix and Match Mama May 16, 2018 at 5:28 am

I do not. I don’t think any of my watch faces have ever been scratched. They seem very durable.

    • Holly May 26, 2018 at 6:56 am

The face on my Apple Watch got a scratch too. I ordered a screen protector from Amazon and you can’t even tell it’s on there!

  • Karmel May 16, 2018 at 9:01 am

Oh my goodness! Did I miss the announcement?
