‘Tis the season for Amazon to save this elf’s behind as she shops for all the gifts, party supplies, holiday stuff and so.much.more.  Today, I thought I’d grab all of my favorite Amazon finds from 2019 to share with you in case you need a gift idea.  Grab some cocoa and settle in, I have lots of fun stuff below…

For Christmas last year, we bought all of the kids these Echo Dots for kids and have LOVED THEM!  We use them for their alarm clocks, to play music, as an intercom system (I can from anywhere, call their rooms and talk to them), and so much more!  I love that they have safeguards on there for kids and that I can pull up the Alexa app on my phone and read what they have been saying to it.  Love, love, love these dots!  Which brings us to our family’s…

So many of you told me that because I love the Echo Dots so much, I should buy an Echo Show for our whole family to use.  You can read my post about it HERE, but we have enjoyed this so much!  I love that it also plays music, TV shows and movies from the Prime app and that we can use our phones to call (and see!) into the kitchen to check on each other.  Andrew calls all the time from work around 3:15 when he knows we’re all in there after school getting snacks and stuff and the kids can say hi.  They can also ask the Show to call dad (or mom) any time too.  Love it!

2019 was the year that the Shull family became diffuser people.  We started diffusing oils in all of our bedrooms back in January and truly credit it to better sleep (and hopefully, it’s been keeping us healthy too!).  I found  these diffusers on Amazon and now, it’s all we use.  We have five of them and use them every day.  I love how they put off the oil intermittently for about 12 hours, how you can pick one of the dozen colors it can be or have the light off and just diffuse.  They’re easy to clean, light and small.  LOVE!

My heart belongs to the packing cube.  From big overseas trips to weekend getaways, I will never not use them again.  They 100% make packing so much easier, more organized, keep things from getting wrinkled, ruined and/or separated and if you buy everyone their own color, it helps keep everyone’s stuff from getting mixed together.

Speaking of things that have revolutionized my world, this Revlon dryer is one of them!  I used to go to sleep with my hair wet and then wake up and go…but now, I just run this dryer over my almost dry hair and it really smooths it, tames it and gives it more volume.  I also use this to completely dry my hair on days that I need to wash and immediately dry it.  I do not leave home without this when traveling!

As silly as this sounds, this clothes drying rack is one of my faves!  I love how it folds up small and can be tucked away, but when I need to dry my clothes, it opens up and has plenty of room for everything that cannot go in the dryer.

I get asked all the time what shoes people should wear when visiting NYC/Disney World/Europe/etc and my answer is always THESE!!!  These Go Walks are the very best walking shoe! They’re light and so comfy.  I also love how you can just throw them in the washing machine when they get dirty.

I’m so thankful for this little travel bag right here!  It has gone almost everywhere with me this year when we’ve traveled.  I love the compartments, I love the zipper storage, I love that it’s big and roomy and can be hung on a hook but folds up nice and neat.  Love.

This right here is the number one toy played with at my house this year!  My in-laws bought this for Madeley last Christmas and honest to goodness, there isn’t a day that goes by that it’s not used.  My kids love it so much that I’ve actually gifted it to several kiddos this year.

Can’t stop, won’t stop with the velvet scrunchies.  My girls and I all use them at home to pull our hair out of our faces.  Because they’re so soft, they don’t damage or crease the hair.  These would make great stocking stuffers as would…

…our favorite game, SPOT IT!  There are so many varieties of this game, but we have Frozen and the kids love it!  Another great game for kids of all ages…

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza.  Buy it. I promise you, fun will be had!

This microfiber towel right here makes me so happy each and every time I use it!  I have no idea why it took me so long to discover it, but I am so glad that I did!!  We now have several at our house because all of the girls love using it.  I really do think it cuts down on drying time.

My new very favorite thing are my Air Pods!  Andrea was showing me hers while we were in Boston, so I bought them off of Amazon and now, I’m wondering where they’ve been all my life?!?!  Seriously, they are so easy to use and convenient!!  You know I’m not techy AT ALL, but these are so simple that even a non-tech person like me can use them.  You literally just open the lid and bam, you can play music, listen to podcasts, talk on the phone, whatever as easy as that.  And since the case charges the pods, it’s really easy to always have them ready to use.  In fact, I’m on the flight home from NYC right now typing this blog post and wearing mine…while listening to Ella Fitzgerald sing Christmas songs 🙂 .

Speaking of Christmas, I have one more thing from Amazon today…

…how cute is my sweater?!  This brand has like 20 choices, but since I love green so much, I picked that one.  Soft, comfy and festive…all my favorite things!

Whew!  That’s it!  Okay, what’s the best thing you’ve bought off of Amazon this year???  I would love to know!!

You may know this already- but you can use Alexa to make announcements through all the dots/echos in the house. For example, dinner is ready can be played through all amazon devices or whatever you want to say! We just discovered this and it’s so much easier than dropping in to say the same thing to everyone!

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 20, 2019 at 6:31 am

Yes!! I annoy my kids greatly with my super clever announcements (they’re probably super lame! Ha!).

  • Reply Allie November 20, 2019 at 5:50 am

For the diffuser, do you use the oils from the same line on Amazon? Does it just smell good or does it also help with humidity? Tell me more! 🙂

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 20, 2019 at 6:30 am

Nope, YoungLiving!! It smells great and does put a mist into the air.

Great items, question on travel bag. I fly weekly and always carry on no matter where/how long. Even with TSA pre check and global entry status how do you get by using this cute travel bag instead of using TSA clear quart containers for your liquids ?

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 20, 2019 at 6:30 am

I check it! When I carry on, I don’t use a clear quart bag (just an old one I’ve had for years) and I’ve never had an issue.

A battery organizer!! I know it’s not glamorous but I was tired of digging in drawers! I love it!

  • Reply Allison November 20, 2019 at 6:53 am

Can you link the booties you are wearing in the last pic? Thanks!

  • Reply Erika Slaughter November 20, 2019 at 7:23 am

I think the Slaughters need that echo show in our lives. And then I need you to come over and set it up. 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Thank you for sharing the drying rack! I’ve been on the lookout for another one. I second the revlon brush too!

I love my air pods! The fact that you can make dinner or fold laundry while on a call (Hands UP!) I also love using the air pods for Peloton outdoor. I choose an outdoor run (or run/walk is my favorite!) and with the pods it’s like having a personal trainer right next to you. The workouts fly by and are so fun. I’ve changed to the bike now that it’s getting cold in Boston but all summer and fall I enjoyed the Peloton mobile app.

Great list of gift ideas! I just grabbed the scrunchies for my daughter’s stocking, and I’m going to try to squeeze the Air Pods into the budget for my husband.

  • Reply Danna November 20, 2019 at 8:08 am

Thanks for all the suggestions. The AirPods have been one I have been looking at for hubby. I too am loving the Echo Show! My husband and I play a ‘skill’ game on guessing artists for songs while we cook. It’s lots of fun. I have a senior in high school who loves waffles so I bought the Whiskware Pancake Batter mixer with blender ball to keep waffle batter in. Each morning I grab it out of refrigerator and make him a waffle. My other new favorite is the Method Daily Granite Cleaner. We recently hosted a Western Murder Mystery Party and I ordered a set of men’s mustaches for each male and my son who helped serve. They were awesome…so many laughs!

Oh my…I needed that Christmas sweater for school! Just purchased!! You made my morning.

I’m trying to figure out if I want to get the kids echo dot or the regular dot for my kids. They are 8 & 10. Any suggestions? I’m going to get a few echo shows for our family this year so they can all connect with us and our kids. My favorite Amazon purchase of late has been a cord organizer. I love it for traveling because it keeps everything together in my carry on and I am always ready to charge any device. My favorite of all time is my Kindle Paperwhite. It revolutionized reading on vacation and made my bag so much lighter! Have a super day!

  • Reply Therese Smith November 20, 2019 at 8:54 am

So, we use those diffusers as well and they work great. However, how do you deal with that creepy green or red light glowing all night long? Is there a way to turn it off that I’ve missed? I end up putting it on continuous spray more often than not b/c the red light is easier to cover up (by wrapping something around the base) than the green. Is this just my own person cross to bear?

We have an Echo Dot we got on Amazon Prime Day – my boys (aged 6 and 8) love it. BUT, please make sure you turn off notifications during the holiday season. We were eating breakfast the other morning and it was lighting up yellow (there was a notification) – my 8 year old (as he knows how to use it) said “Alexa, what is our notification?”. She answered “A notification from Amazon Shopping – your ‘Youth Catchers Gear’ has been delivered.” There goes one of the Christmas gifts we were going to give him 😉

Whoop! I ordered that sweater but in Blue! So cute!

Just in case you weren’t aware there are some essential oils that are toxic to dogs and cats and can induce seizures. There is a long list that you can google but some are cinnamon, citrus, peppermint, pine, tea tree and wintergreen. I wasn’t aware until I heard Talia from Party in My Plant’s podcast about the essential oil she was diffusing making her dog react as if he was on heroin or some drug. So scary. LOVE your blog so much, especially your book recommendations!

  • Reply Kylee Edwards November 20, 2019 at 10:13 am

I keep wanting to get the echo dots but I’m scared of them! I’m scared of any type of technology because I don’t ever know how to really house it! With that being said, now exactly do you use an “intercom”, make announcements, or call? It all sounds amazing but I worry I wouldn’t know how to figure it out!!

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 20, 2019 at 12:35 pm

On my Alexa app on my phone! I can either select the Echo I want to communicate with (i.e. use it like an intercom) or I can blast an announcement out to all of them at the same time.

I love the idea of the AirPods, but I’d have a tough time giving up the noise cancelling feature of my Bose earbuds. Until they come out with a bluetooth version, I’ll never give them up!

Thanks so ,much for sharing. There are so many things that would be useful, love all the travel stuff. SO Smart!

  • Reply Jeni November 20, 2019 at 11:14 am

I want/need every single one of these items!!!!

  • Reply Julie November 20, 2019 at 11:22 am

Shay, I am curious about your use of the Revlon dryer. I also have wavy hair and I don’t want to straighten it. When you use it on your almost dry hair, does it stay wavy? Or can you use it to make waves/curls? Thanks!

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 20, 2019 at 12:34 pm

I haven’t been wearing mine with the natural wave lately, so I’ve been using it to straighten it out/smooth it before using my curling iron.

  • Reply Mary November 20, 2019 at 12:10 pm

Apple just released the Airpod Pro, which has a noise cancelling feature you can turn on and off. They also have different size ear pieces you can change based on comfort. And Siri functionality too.

I have so much from amazon! I did end up with an echo dot, echo dot kids and the echo show after your post on them and love them all, so thank you for that! I love this belt because it doesn’t give you the bulge in the front and you can’t tell that you’re wearing a belt: No Buckle Stretch Belt For Women… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078RM46LY?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I just recently bought this diffuser for my living room and love it 😍 YSJERA Women’s Cotton 5 Tiered A… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NTB7XFQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I know that you buy all of your workout clothes from athleta, but these are amazing and I love the pocket on the sides for my phone if I’m doing an outdoor run. Plus they have a high waste, which I really like: AmazonBasics 30% Recycled… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QR294CR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And lastly, these tanks are so comfy and great under cardigans in the winter, I have probably 6 of these: iGENJUN Women’s Summer Sleeveless… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y45FN3M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I hope you love all of these too!

I concur with Shay about the packing cubes. We just got back from a cruise and prior to leaving, I purchased two sets of the packing cubes (the same ones Shay purchased from Amazon). I can’t tell you how much more space we had in our suitcases. We take the same suitcases and I was so surprised. We were able to put the smaller cubes – still packed, right into the dresser drawers. What a great find!!! Thanks Shay for sharing!!!!

  • Reply Angie November 20, 2019 at 6:03 pm

I would recommend buying an AirPods case 😊

  • Reply Alexis deZayas November 20, 2019 at 8:15 pm

I’ve ordered everything from luggage to a Christmas tree on Amazon this year!! Looking through my orders, I love gifting your bundt cake cookbook with a bundt cake pan or Simmers with a crock pot from wedding registries 🙂 I’ve also gifted that travel bag you shared and the packing cubes!!

  • Reply Becky November 21, 2019 at 5:22 am

Do full size shampoo/lotion/etc. bottles fit in that toiletry bag? It’s super cute!

  • Reply ERIKA MILLS November 21, 2019 at 8:07 am

Some of my favorite things: air pod holders! They have a clip so you can clip them to your purse, belt, etc (I used it when flying so my case was super easy to snag).
My other favorite thing (especially this time of year!) Eneloop rechargeable batteries! I use them in my camera gear but they’re great for those holiday decorations that run off batteries. My soft silicone shampoo brush to really work shampoo into my hair while washing is like giving yourself a scalp massage every time you shampoo!
Have you tried those aquadoodle pads for the kids? Mine are obsessed and perfect for indoor play with no mess!
Okay and lastly: my favorite buy of 2019. My waterpik 2n1 toothbrush flosser in one! OMG totally worth the $$!

  • Reply Victoria November 21, 2019 at 10:43 am

Yes to the packing cubes and the toiletry bag!! I’m a flight attendant and these 2 things have made my year so much better and organized 😊 thanks for your recommendations all year long!
