It’s TUESDAY TALK!
Once a month, I link up with Ashley and Erika (who host this fun little blog link up), and you blog about anything and everything.
In January, I blogged about HOW I’M USING ESSENTIAL OILS NOW
In February, I decided to blog about…THE FAMILY VALENTINE’S DANCE
In March, I encouraged women to share their businesses so we could SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER
In April, we talked about SNACKING!
In July, we talked about SUMMER SLOW COOKER SUPPERS
In August, we talked about ECHO DOTS…
…which leads us to today’s post!!
So, last month, I asked you for more tips about my Echo Dot for Kids (better ways to utilize them and such) along with if I should buy a Google Nest Hub or not and overwhelmingly, you told me to get an Echo Show. I had never heard of an Echo Show until that post last month, and now, it’s one of my favorite new gadgets in my house! Between the comments on my blog post and the feedback I received on Insta Stories (I did a poll), it was very clear that the Show was the way for the Shulls to go since we already had Amazon Echo Dots for Kids in our house and were using them.
Now, you guys know that I’m not techy AT ALL, so I’m not very well equipped to give a full review of any sort of technological gadget, but I can at least speak into this a little bit and then hopefully, the rest of you techy people can share other ways to utilize a Show in your house. Here are some of my random thoughts:
1: The Echo Show is pretty much like an Echo Dot but with a video monitor/camera screen. So, instead of just asking your Alexa questions, you can see visuals when you get your answers (everything from the weather to sports information, news, random facts, etc).
2: Plus, you can call each other from your phones to your Echo Show and see each other through the Alexa App (kind of like Facetiming). Since my kids don’t have phones, they can walk up to the Echo Show and have it call mom or dad’s phone to “chat” from the kitchen or we can call into the house and chat with each other. Make sense?
3: Also, all of the shows you have on your Amazon Prime Video app can be watched on the Show. So, if you’ve bought movies on your Amazon app, you can watch them or you can watch any of the movies/TV shows already on Amazon Prime (like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel!) right there on your screen.
4: There was no fee to set up my Echo Show (it connected to my Amazon account and instantly knew who I was), but I did upgrade to pay for the use of Amazon music, so now, I can request any song and it will play it and/or play lists.
5: You can upload photos and it turns into a slide show when not in use of photographs of your family.
Here’s a quick little video of some of the ways we are using our Echo Show…
We’ve only had it a month and so far, it’s been such a fun purchase! I think Andrew was skeptical of it at first as we already had Echo Dots, why would we need anything else, but now, he’s a believer too. All of that being said, WHAT ELSE CAN IT DO?! I’ve only had it a month and I’m not techy, so you and I both know it does a million other things that I’m unaware of. Can you please comment and tell me???
Speaking of comments, last month, when I asked for more feedback about our Echo Dots, you guys really came through! My favorite tidbit you shared was how I can go into my Amazon Alexa app and see what my kids have been asking their Echo Dots. Friends, Andrew and I were dying! They ask the funniest things!!!! I never would have known that if it weren’t for you, so THANK YOU! There were so many other great pieces of information about the Echo Dot in that comment section, so if you missed it, go back HERE and read.
Okay…the Echo Show, now that I have one, what else can it do?! Please comment and share!!! xo

I LOVE my Echo show! I had no idea how much I’d use it! I did a review earlier this summer about it and how we are using it too! It’s my favorite for making our shopping list when we run out of ingredients in the middle of cooking.

I need to go us one of these for the calling feature alone!
Paula Nichols says
We set our Echo Show up to our Ring devices/cameras, and she will show us our front yard and our back yard immediately, when asked. We can also call family members who live in other states, as long as they have an Echo device. We’ve also set it up to our Hue lighting and when we set timers through it, and they go off, our lights will flash. This is in case we’re in another room and didn’t hear the timer.

We LOVE our Echo Show!! My brother bought us one for Christmas last year and we had never seen one but we haven’t looked back. Before we came back to Europe, we convinced my husband’s 92 year-old grandpa to get one and now he sits in our kitchen from thousands of miles away every evening and watches us and talks to us for hours. Not only that, but it pulls up recipes, shows the words to songs, brings up photo memories…it’s really great. I also love that when I’m doing a playlist I can tell it I don’t like or really like a song and it will remember! I also use it to set multiple timers (set a tea timer, set a cake timer, set a reminder…). Technology has it’s pros and cons, but I think this one is wonderful!

Okay, that looks like fun! I love that it provides a visual and that you can call into it! So cool!

Create lists and add to your lists and when you go shopping it is on your alexa app. Ready to go! I have a target, grocery, Costco and Trader Joe’s list. ?
Mix and Match Mama says
No way?!?!
Melissa Sexton says
Yes! I love the shopping list skill! As soon as I use something up in my kitchen, I will ask Alexa to add it to my shopping list. Then when I get to store, my shopping list is ready to go.?
JNavvv says
I second this! And I have the exact same lists 🙂 The best part is my kids and husband can add to the list when they see that we are out of something.
Elspeth says
I had no idea, the amazon show could do all this, perfect for kids (and parents too)! Thanks for the review!

We use it as a baby monitor! We have Amazon cameras in the kids rooms and play room. You can talk through the camera to them as well!
Mary says
We have Arlo cameras and my Show lets me know when there is motion detected. I just say “Alexa, show the front door,” and my camera view comes up on the Show screen.
Mix and Match Mama says
That is so cool!!!
Andrea Turner says
Ours is connected to our Ring doorbell so we can ask it to show us the front door to see who’s there. Love this!
Mix and Match Mama says
No way?!
Tanya says
Thanks for the review! We currently have an Echo in the kitchen, which I love. Do you think the sound on the Show is good for listening to music throughout the kitchen/living area? Have a great day!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! We’re listening to praise and worship music right this minute on it!
Laci says
This looks so cool!
Sara says
Do you know or any of your followers know if your google calendar can be seen on the Echo Show? Thank you! Love your blog.
Mix and Match Mama says
That would be amazing! Who knows the answer to this???
Kim F says
Yes… It can be done by using your amazon Alexa App on your phone. You can also add your own photo as the screen default.
Lauren says
Yes, you can link your Google calendar and ask Alexa what you have to do today, etc. You can also add events this way
Lauren says
Also – when you do this, it will show your next event as one of the slides that cycles through as a screensaver
Carrie Ramsey says
Question for Readers! I have an iPhone and Amazon Prime, but no other device already… is the Amazon Show still the recommend device or is another brand of something better?
Andrea Wienen says
Buble did that song 9 years ago. 🙂

I have that album! It’s a really old song. I bet I have it on my phone by 8 or 9 different artists.

I need the details on your nails!! Dip or Gel? And are they your real nails or do you get acrylic and then a dip or gel overtop?? Love the fall color!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Dip! They’re my real nails and I keep them super short. I use that Nexgen stuff!
Kim C says
is Nexgen something that you can do at home or do you go to a salon? I’m intrigued =]
Mix and Match Mama says
The salon! It stays on about 3 weeks with no chipping!
Karen says
Yes you can see your calendar. Also you can reorder items from Amazon or search for new items. I also love dropping in on my dog when I’m out…..?
Mix and Match Mama says
Do you go to a setting to connect them?
Karen says
Hi Shay, Would you please share what candle you’re burning and where did you get the board it’s sitting on? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s sitting on a cutting board from Williams-Sonoma (it’s not a recent purchase) and it’s from Bath and Body Works!
Kristi says
Random question!! We have sports on Tuesdays at 5:30. Would you do an early dinner at 4:30 or late dinner at 7? What do you do on nights like this?? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
We would do a late dinner at 7 (with a more substantial after school snack)!
Emily says
I have a serious problem! I went to Trader Joe’s and got all your fun fall food!! How do you stop at only two Joe-Joe’s?!?! How do you have such self control!!!
Kim C says
This sounds like an intriguing device… This would be nice with a camera in the basement to keep an eye on all the toys that keep breaking themselves ; ]
Kelli says
You can also pull up Hulu on it! We love our Show!
Heather says
I really wish I could watch Netflix on my Show!
