Today’s post is a two in one! I have some fun pics from our elementary school’s family Valentine’s Day dance plus Meal Planning Monday.
One post, two things, lots of love 🙂 .
(That’s for you, Andrea McAnally 😉 !)
On Friday night, we had our annual elementary school’s family Valentine’s dance. Before the dance, we went to the pizza place around the corner for dinner…
…oh my word! Look how big Ebby Lee and Kensington are now?! Weren’t we just there when they were in kindergarten?
Ashby was super excited about going to the dance too!!
I had a lot of people ask on Instagram: Kensington’s dress is HERE, her shoes are HERE and Ashby’s dress is HERE.
Love that boy of mine!
The little girls were there too 🙂 .
One of the traditions at our school is that the fifth grade square dances. I mean…yes. Do any of your kids learn how to square dance??? Hahaha! I remember learning when I was their age and it cracks me up that it’s still a thing. So, about halfway through the dance, the lights come on and everyone watches fifth grade square dance.
After square dancing, all of the grades show off some sort of “dance”. First grade flossed. Ha!
These dances are always so much fun for the the whole family!
Next year, she’ll be there as a student too!!!!
It was the end of an era for this one. xx
Okay, this week, for dinner, I have all things your family will LOVE (because it’s all about love, right?!))…
Taco Stuffed Potatoes could not be easier on a Monday night. I love a stuffed potato. Like LOVE it!
My Easy Weeknight Wiener Schnitzel is ALWAYS a favorite at my house! I’m telling you, it’s crazy simple and crazy delicious too!
This time of year, we eat some sort of soup at least once (or twice!) a week. A cozy bowl of my Chicken Enchilada Soup is sure to make your family happy!
Do you make Sheet Tray Suppers at your house? Not only are they easy to assemble, they’re easy to clean up too! Try my Sausage, Sweet Potatoes & Brussels Sprouts one this week!
This week, whip up my Beef over Cheesy Grits! Not only is this delicious, it’s quick and easy too!
And finally, wrap up your week with my Valentine’s Pudding Pies. They’re in little sugar cookie cups!! So cute, right?!
I hope you guys all have the best Monday!! See you back here tomorrow. xo

Side note…do you know I took square dancing in college AND loved it? Is there some sort of professional square dancing circuit? If so, maybe that’s what Tab and I should do when these kids are all raised? #goals

I’m laughing so hard!

DYING. I need video evidence today!!!!! Did you have costumes? I hope the answer is YES, and I hope they involved a petticoat.

OH my gosh! We had to learn how to square dance in 7th grade AND we were filmed and shown on T.V. We were all so embarassed! LOL! I’m sure all your sweet Elementary kids enjoyed their dances though. Sounds fun for them. ? I love the girls dresses too!

How is it sweet Kensington and Ebby Lee are now 18?! They look so grown up ?
Sandy Blitch says
Kensington is a Mini-Shay Shull! Her smile, her body pose, she looks just like you! What a fun memory-making family night!

The Valentine family party looks like so much fun! Kensington is so pretty in her dress and sparkly shoes. How is she doing with the adjustment to a gluten free diet – and how is your family adjusting?
Mix and Match Mama says
I feel like for the most part, she’s doing really well. Sometimes, it’s not super fun, but I’ve been really proud of her!

Your oldest daughter looks so grown up! ?
So we are trying to go gluten-free at my house, and I wondered if there will be a point when your recipes will switch to all GF? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I tag my recipe posts with the ingredients/themes and gluten-free has always been one, but now, you’ll notice that all new content is g-free. I’m not going to call out/make a big deal about them all being gluten-free, they just will be 🙂 .
Hannah says
Another helpful tip – so many of Shay’s older “non-GF” recipes can be super easily made GF – I was diagnosed w/ Celiac about 7 years ago and have been making her recipes for years! Simple swaps like GF pasta, GF flour as a soup thickener, GF breadcrumbs, etc. can turn almost all of the dinner recipes gluten free.

gotcha 🙂

So fun! We never had family dances at our school. I agree, Kensington is a mini of her mom. She is gorgeous like you!

We used to square dance in gym class. I’m from a big suburb up in NY so not sure why we did this. I liked it because you didn’t have to change for gym class those days. Now that I’m thinking of it, do kids change into gym clothes for gym class?! Not elementary but middle/high??
Mix and Match Mama says
They change here in middle/high but not elementary. It’s so funny that so many kids still do this!!

I remember learning how to square dance in elementary school, and all us girls giggling about dancing with boys! Also K’s dress is so cute! Would totally wear an adult version of it haha.
