I glanced at my calendar on Monday afternoon and was like “holy cow, Memorial Day is this weekend, and I haven’t thought once about a fun new red, white and blue recipe or my menu”. It’s been a weird year.
Today, I decided just to re-post my collection from last year just in case you need a recipe for the weekend. From festive treats to easy sides, burgers, grilled entrees, salads and more, happy May, friends!
It’s my annual MEMORIAL DAY MENU!
Memorial Day really kicks off summer for our family. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, it’s all about pool parties and family time. I’m taking my annual menu and adding a few new things. It’s a menu designed for a family gathering of four or it can be multiplied and serve a large party too (or if you’re going to a pot luck, just take what you need from this list!). The best part? It’s simple, but crowd pleasing.
Red, white, blue and delicious!
First up…
Start your Memorial Day off right with my Red, White and Blueberry French Toast. You use blueberry bagels as your bread and make a quick strawberry sauce to go down on top. Festive and yummy!
Need a little appetizer? No worries…
Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers for the WIN!
And/or you could make my Baked Crab & Artichoke Dip. Friends will flock to this one!
Need a side? I have you covered…
My Mama’s Corn Salad is a MUST for all summer get-togethers. It’s not a party until this is on my plate.
Once you try these BBQ Green Beans you won’t go back to boring old regular ones. The best part about this version is that the beans cook in the slow cooker…one less thing to mess with during the party.
My mother-in-law’s Pepperoni & Bell Pepper Pasta Salad is one of our favorite sides to serve with food off the grill (it’s also one of our favorite lunches and light suppers too!).
Speaking of pasta salads, my Tortellini Pasta Salad is another great side dish too!
My Savory Watermelon Salad is the perfect side to any summer gathering. I’m pretty obsessed with this recipe.
And for the main course? You gotta do something on the grill, right? Grilling equals summer holiday party! Here are some of my favorite grilled entrees…
Burger Choice #1 is my Spinach & Feta Burger. If you’re wanting a turkey burger on the menu, this one’s for YOU!
And burger choice #2 is my Meatloaf Burgers! The sauce is what makes it a meatloaf burger…in honor of Andrew’s favorite meal (meatloaf), I made it into a burger.
Or if burgers aren’t for you, how about salmon?
My Pineapple Teriyaki Salmon is so good this time of year or…
And something sweet to finish things off (that’s festive too!)…
…my Red, White and Blue Trifle. I love that you make this in advance…that way on party day, you just pop it out of the fridge and serve.
My Strawberry & Blueberry Slab Pie feeds a crowd! Plus, it’s so easy to prepare!
Or you can try…
…my Patriotic Pops. Kids will go nuts over these!!
We love a pudding pie, so this Red, White & Blueberry one really makes us happy!
