Happy Tuesday, friends!
Okay, whew!
You girls made me cry yesterday!
Seriously, I really know that some of you have had a TERRIBLE 2020, and mine doesn’t even compare, but the fact that you love on my family time and time again is a bigger blessing than you will ever know.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I mean, really, I have no other words. Your encouragement, quotes, scripture, prayers, emails, comments, DMs and love was felt yesterday. It rained all day here which really made nothing better and everything worse, but I only cried once, so I’m considering that a win. It’s such a mess. Really, a huge mess…but messes can eventually get picked up, right? I keep thinking (and you guys are going to laugh when I say this because you all know me and know I’m being 100% true right now) “when this is all over, I’ll be putting pumpkins out in my house, so that’s something to be excited about”. Ha! It’s only June and the pumpkins are what’s keeping me afloat right now. 😉
Okay, this was originally my post for yesterday, but I bumped it a day. Who doesn’t want to discover a fun Amazon find? I have our Amazon lately round up right here…
Goggles. Anyone else always looking for goggles?! I swear, my kids always want them and never know where they left them. This is a great set because for only $12, you get two pairs and they come in a nice zipper case too!
I have purchased a lot of tees on Amazon, but this one here is the softest and best quality so far. I really love it! After the pool, it’s easy to throw on when taking kiddos to their sports activities. They have a big selection with many different prints and graphics on them.
And the earrings I have on in this pic…
…are a great Amazon find too!!
I bought this for running with my phone! I always use my AirPods and listen to podcasts/musics/the Peloton app and finally got wise and bought this so that I don’t have to carry my phone. It comes in many different colors, but I bought black. Love!
Um…I have no idea why this was delivered to my house?! Hmmmmm…clearly, this was an Andrew purchase 😉 . It looks pretty handy though! Ha!
Love my yellow visor so much that I also bought it in black!!
I bought this just to wear around my cold house…and the cold gym! The other morning, it was the perfect top to add to my tank. It’s kind of long, so I tied mine off. Easy!
This lacrosse set for the pool has been a HUGE HIT!
I loved this dress so much that I also bought it a few weeks ago in solid black! #winning
Well, I heard that spending 10 minutes a day doing Sudoku helps keep the brain sharp, so for the last two weeks, I’ve done it every morning with breakfast. It’s actually been so much fun! I mean, I’m horrible at it…but I enjoy the routine of drinking my coffee and working on it a few minutes every day. I use this book, but Smith prefers Ken Ken.
Speaking of which…
…I’m still wearing my blue light glasses every day. I really do think they’re working!!
Miss Ashby got both of these for her birthday…
…these erasable markers along with…
…ice cream scented washable markers 🙂 .
Okay, that’s what I’ve been Prime-ing to my house!
What was the last thing you Primed?!
Comment and let me know!! Love you ladies!!
Carrie says
Well padded biker shorts for my husband who is getting into cycling, Wings of Fire graphic novels, the Zinus bed frame, fake Birkenstock type sandals…
Does anyone have suggestions for a b-day gift for a 10 yr old boy who is not into sports but does like to read and spend time outside.
Mix and Match Mama says
Smith loves to read and really enjoys his Kindle 🙂 .
Angie says

jamie says
what are the titles of the john grisham books?
Susan G says
My 11 year olds (also not sporty) loved the Rick Riordan novels. It’s a great set with a Greek mythology/ fantasy background, but it’s a kid friendly story.
They also liked Zodiac by Stan Lee.
Arika says
Carrie, my son loved the Magic Misfit series by Neil Patrick Harris. I read it with him and it was super cute, I enjoyed it too.
Tracie says
My son loves Think Fun strategy games. He has the UFO/cow pickup and Rush Hour. Next he wants the laser puzzle.
Becki Kidder says
My son got a camping style hammock and straps for his birthday a few years ago and loves setting it up outside and reading in it! The neighbor kids all have one too and they meet in the wooded area across from our house and set up their hammocks and talk, swing in them, even have picnics in them! It’s been a great thing to have on hand for outdoor socially distant play!
Darian says
Great book series by Nathan Hale (not THAT Nathan Hale)—Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales comic- graphic novels about history and they are really funny. We have seen the author at the Texas Book Festival and the kids follow him and look to him like a sports idol. Great storyteller and animator! Can’t beat reading and history!

Lauren says
Adding that visor to my cart now! I LOVE it and it’ll be perfect for keeping the sun out of my face while out for a run. My last Amazon purchase was a special coffee they don’t sell in my local grocery store. It made me VERY happy when that package arrived ?
I did a post about my purchases from last month if you’re curious: http://www.allaboutthatmommylife.com/2020/05/what-ive-been-priming_29.html?m=1
Praying for you and your rough start to the year right this very second.
I have to say, if anybody can come out on the other side of this and look stronger than ever, it’ll be you. Many other people (myself included!) would crumble in this situation, but I know you’re going to stay strong and come back from it better than ever. You’ve got this!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you so much, Lauren. I really appreciate this!!!
Valerie Bostwick says
Give Koala Clip a shot for running with your phone…clips in behind your sports bra, never moves, chafes, easy to access…it is the best product!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Checking it out right now!
Susan Jeffries says
I prayed for you this morning. This is such a hard time for everyone in our country. Just remember that God is still in control and He will make something beautiful out of every single mess.

With the lightning deal and my Amazon points, I got that adorable sweat shirt for $0. Can’t beat that!
I said a prayer for your family before my feet hit the floor this morning Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh goodness, thank you so much, Holly!!
Laurie says
What size did you order in the t-shirt? Amazon reviews are mixed on sizing. Some say oversized and others say tts.
Mix and Match Mama says
I bought it in a small!
Kelly M Sites says
Um, the better question is WHAT HAVEN’T I ordered from Amazon! I’m a crazy lady. Recent purchases: A great candle, dog treats, dog toys, note pads, mascara, books.
Paula B says
What was the candle, Kelly? I have been searching for a new scent.
Jen says
I’m so excited to read about the silver lining in all of this.
At one point in my life I would anixtey take control but have found that God has it under control and a blessing will come
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you so much, Jen. xx

Shay,
We bought blue light glasses for family kiddos…they wear them all the time. I had it put on my glasses I wear all the time…I noticed a difference,
You made me laugh at your morning routine. I lived with gparents going to college and both would sit and do crosswords every morning. Lol.
Speaker, hat and bluetooth hearing protection….Father’s Day stuff from Amazon last week. Lol
Just read Cobra Kai is coming to Netflix… not for kiddos but if you loved Karate Kid you have to check it out.
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m really quite into it! Bahaha! I’ve always been an older person at heart 😉 .
jamie says
i have zero idea how to do sudoku. it makes my brain hurt just thinking about it. but i put it in my cart because i think if it makes my brain hurt thinking about it— i probably need it. put both yours and smith’s {for my bored 16yo son} in my cart!
Marissa says
Just ordered about 4 things off your amazon funds ??
Mix and Match Mama says
I hope one of them was that t-shirt because it’s really so soft and comfy! Oh and the visor! And the dress! Dang! I love it all!! hahaha!
Jessica says
Morning, Shay! I hope yous have found a place to rest your heads, the fur babies too! When ya said master closet is that the one we see in the pics with all your clothes? Been thinking about your family so much and sending prayers for you all. I pray the Father would be a shield about you during this time ???????? And if I may, where are the shorts from in the pic with the good vibes top? They are super cute.
I hope this Tuesday finds ALL the Shull’s finding moments of laughter together as it truly is the best medicine ?☺️???? Bless you ??
Mary says
Praying for you and your family. I feel silly asking but what shorts are you wearing with the good vibes T-shirt?
amy brooks says
I would love to know too! They are super cute! Praying you guys find a temp home and can relax a little bit! Thinking of you all and praying the re-do goes so smoothly!!
Sarah says
As Dory would say, just keep swimming. It seems hard and impossible, but I know you and your family will get to the other side before you know it.
Monica says
My ❤️ is with you all! What podcasts are your faves?
Mix and Match Mama says
I am not a podcast listener. The options overwhelm me!
Lyndsey says
Your post says you use your AirPods for podcasts/music though?
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhh! I have been listening to some podcasts over the last few weeks from some influencers in the black community that have been recommended to me, but I’m certainly not a “podcast” person. People have to tell me exactly what to listen to (and I will!) or else I open up that podcast app and get lost after about 10 seconds.
Carly says
I love how much perspective you always have Shay. But you’ve been given this cross to carry right now so let everyone else carry you. Your emotions and life are just as important than everyone else. When you’re ready I’m sure this community also has great tips and advice on how to save a few special things (drying techniques etc) Praying for you all.
Also, my last Amazon purchase was my next Nancy Thayer book!
Jennifer Skinner says
Is the Good Vibes tee true to size? Praying for your family!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It is 🙂
Kelly says
Cashew Cookie Lara Bars!!;). Prayed for you on my walk (never run!) this morning, that you would give all you anxious thoughts over to the Lord and that the peace of Christ would rule in you!
Paula says
The last thing I ordered from Amazon was books! Remember when that was just about all you could order? Seems so odd now!
I’m so sorry about your flood. Having shelter is so important – it’s okay to be bereft – even though you have options. ??
Heather Stanton says
We are professional Primers….legit proskillz here! Our last purchase to make you laugh….my husband ordered live worms for our garden. ???. Yes. Worms. They showed up alive and the kids had a ball helping him put them in the garden. I also ordered sunflower seeds to plant…because they are happy! ? ?
Janet says
Now I have to look up live worms on Amazon. Whenever I find an earthworm I throw it in my raised beds.
Kimberly says
Hey Shay!! I am so sorry to hear about the flood. I do love your perspective on the pumpkins 🙂 Did you all find somewhere else to live for awhile? Also, will you be showing pictures or do a live of some of your house? I know so many of us are invested in this and are curious too!
Mix and Match Mama says
We’re working out all of the details this week…it’s still raining here which isn’t helping us one bit. Once they get all of the equipment and stuff out of my house, I’m sure I’ll show some pics.
Christi says
Ha! What don’t I order off Amazon? Yesterday I received vinyl hangers to hang outdoor lights, popcorn ceiling repair kit for a small leak clean up, and a juicer! But this summer I’ve gotten baseball caps to protect my scalp from the sun, a patio umbrella, a mosquito repellent, citronella sticks…such an exciting list right?
But the reason I really wanted to comment is to share this thought with you that has been shared with me. I hate to be negative and never want to be dramatic or add stress to anybody so I’ve tried to play off stuff that has happened because I know somebody out there has it way worse. But here’s the thought, don’t compare. You’re going through a lot of stuff right now. Cry. Don’t pretend it’s alright right now because it’s not. It will be. But right now, it’s tough. I’m not saying that I expect you to only talk about this but I’m just reminding you that you have a right to grieve and be sad/frustrated/overwhelmed right now. So if you do share on social media, please do not feel like you have to identify that others have it worse. Just own what your family is experiencing.
And I don’t know about you when things are the hardest…humor, sarcasm and showing kindness towards others are how I handle the craziness. I used to not allow myself to cry but I find a place to have a quick cry, be honest with my husband that I’m having a moment and cry. It’s almost as though those tears lift a huge weight off my mind. Thinking of you.
Sandy M says
This is really good. I so agree with not comparing. That’s huge. Someone always has it worse or better but that doesn’t help your situation or feelings.
Tracie says
Coop (brand of the lacrosse set) has a great water volleyball and football. The kids love to play monkey in the middle and dad throws the football for them to catch while jumping in. Your pool is perfect for this game!

Kristen says
Hi! Could I ask about the green vacation sweatshirt you were wearing in your stories yesterday? I adore that color green!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s my very favorite color too! J Crew Factory 🙂
Kristen says
Thanks!!
Joanne says
The last thing I primed was some vitamins. Though i am headed over to check out those earrings.
Kelly says
Praying the rain stops and that things can move forward not backward on your house situation! Always love these Amazon posts. The last thing I prime-d was essential oils. I love to get the bigger sized bottles and mix up some blends for diffusing at home.
Ruby Rutledge Huling says
A hoot owl!! Lol. We have a couple of mallard ducks that think our pool is their new home! I read that the owl, which BTW has a moving head, might scare them away. The inflatable alligator had no affect whatsoever. Haha
Mix and Match Mama says
This made me LOL!
Kristen says
I just bought this for running! I loooove it! I just tuck it under the back of Athleta high neck chi tank (why of why don’t they make these anymore) 🙁 It’s not bulky and doesn’t give me funny tan lines! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073XSHTWR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Praying for you and your family! Don’t let yourself discount your feelings just because someone has had a worse time. It still sucks, and you’re allowed to have your feelings too. It took me a while to accept that for myself! Sending hugs and prayers your way! Thanks for being real and raw with us!
Tamara R says
My last Amazon purchase (before I just ordered your recommendations!) was an Avocado shaped pool float ?. Also, can’t you run with just your Apple Watch? I just use wireless Bluetooth headphones, linked to my watch and I can listen my music, etc from my watch. And pumpkins, awww, that long? But I love your positivity! ❤️
Courtney says
Yes! Try working out with just your Apple Watch and AirPods – it’s so much easier. You’ll never go back to carrying your phone!
Tracy says
I love these Amazon Prime posts! We Prime often (is Prime a verb?). The last things were a steam cleaner and two books (Enter Wild & White Fragility).
Kathy says
Your pumpkin comment has me excited to see your home all fixed up and decorated for Fall!
My latest Amazon purchases are: Vitamin D3 capsules, an umbrella, dog food, Shiatsu Foot & Back massager for my dad for Father’s Day, Men’s moccasin slippers and an Apple Phone & Watch stand for my husband for Father’s Day!
Deb says
Well today’s my birthday and I’m a runner, so, I may have to gift myself a cute new visor and arm band for my phone. Thanks for the great suggestions! Continued thoughts and prayers to you and your family as you work through your house situation.
Mix and Match Mama says
Happy Birthday, Deb!!!
Jen says
Shay, you are such an inspiration. This blog has been the highlight of my morning for many years. Watching the weather radar in your area today and I don’t even live in Texas!! Praying big for you and your family. ❤️?
Susy says
This may sound silly with all you are balancing, but art teachers everywhere have been campaigning for no scented markers or other scented art materials. We work so hard to train students/young artists never to smell/inhale art materials of any kind. We’ve really struggled with this because they sell so well to consumers—but safety first! It’s a matter of training students about overall safe use of art materials, even though these are probably AP/CP certified.
On the current moment, I’ve lived with those fans—it’s like there is an airplane engine full throttle in your house. I’m guessing this first week will be the hardest as each day will be a challenge with a new decision or realization about the enormity of what has happened. Since you love ‘cozy’, I’m picturing you in a ‘cozy’ bubble surrounded by God, friends and family, marking progress each day.
Lacey says
SO. MUCH. STUFF. lol I feel like the delivery guy is our best friend – I’ve been leaving out a tray with snacks and waters for them to pick up!
We just got a puppy and he eats too fast so we got him this puzzle bowl that’s supposed to slow it down. https://amzn.to/2YousJI
Also this band that’s supposed to go on the top of your sports bra to help keep things in place when you’re running! 😉

Elspeth says
SO glad you re still finding the good in all this. I love those markers. They look so fun and easy for kids.

Cindy says
Why do you use your phone when you run when you have the Apple watch? The only reason I bought my watch was so I wouldn’t have to carry phone and could listen to music/podcasts.
Mix and Match Mama says
It depends on what I’m listening to. Some apps aren’t on the Apple watch, so I need my phone.
Grier says
We have been making sun archers at my house so The last thing I primed was 2 pounds of pint beads for those. The other thing I primed was DIY otter pop bags. They are popsicle bags that you fill your self and they look like otter pops. Have you guys ever tried making sun catchers or diy otter pops:)?
Sharon Temple says
My latest purchases are Ronxs Candle Lighter (love it), 1000 mAh Q Portable Charger, the book “Enter Wild” and a Bissell Zing Canister vacuum (same one used by gocleanco).
Andrea says
I heard Enter Wild is a GREAT book!!!
Jaren says
Always love a good amazon lately post!! We’ve primed a lot of girls bathing suits recently, and they are super cute! I’ve also gotten that Kerasol Intensive Foot Repair, and it really does work in 24 hours!!
Your talk about pumpkins makes me so happy! I can’t wait for that either!! I loooove summer, but the pumpkins do really make the season change worth it.
Lilly says
Do you know you do not need to carry your phone to listen to music from your iwatch and using your iPods? Set up music/ iTunes as a complication on any face on your iwatch. You can also make a phone call from your iwatch without your phone nearby.
Traci Young says
Hello Shay,
I just primed the hanging travel bag and packing cubes, you suggested, to my home. My husband and I are going on vacay in August and I am soooooo excited to start packing now.
I’m right there with ya regarding the pumpkins, cuz that means fall is right around the corner.
Please know I am keeping you in my prayers especially as it was pouring rain this morning…I’m in TX too (Crowley).
Have a great day!!
Sandy Blitch says
If anyone can find a positive in your situation, it would be you! Pumpkin thoughts will bring you through it, so put on your red slippers, click your heels together 3 times and say pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins! I know it won’t be that easy, but HE will see you through it! We are grandparents of five, ages 7 to 18, and we have enjoyed their company some this summer. We just Primed a badminton/ volleyball set, regulation size…we have a big front and backyard. These said grandchildren are also mostly tall, so we are all super excited for them to come again so we can break it out! Our 18 year old grandson was one of those kids who missed out on the last part of his Senior year. But his community/family/church made it as good as it can be right now! Prayers for your Friday/Ashby!
Patty says
Bike tools, books, a Ravensburger puzzle, and two of these “paint by sticker” books for my twin grandbabies (who are toddlers, not babies, lol)…https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0761189602/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Praying all continues to get better for your home! That kind of thing sucks, no matter what else is happening in the world. Yes, thankfully it can all be replaced, but it still sucks! ?
Amazon is an obsession – recently bought a Nespresso machine! ???? A weed wacker, inflatable pool, raw honey…and too many other things!
Emily W says
Thinking of your sweet family, and so sorry you’re going through this with your beautiful home!
Also – your kids need aqua sphere swim goggles! (Of course available on Amazon) They’re the best because it’s like a mask over both eyes (instead of two separate ones for each eye). They stay on and are so durable! We have used them for years now and they are the best!
Jami says
Let’s see.. a new Fitbit band for my son, my boys both bought them a skateboard.. and it’s probably TMI but I’m the one who had a hysterectomy due to cancer cells and went into menopause at 39 and no HRT for me.. so my NP recommend some products to help with the less talked about symptoms of menopause… let’s just say I didn’t want to be standing in the aisle of the pharmacy trying to find it :).
Mary says
Some boring stuff…heeling moisturizing sleeves and Bert’s Bees Coconut foot cream.
I wanted to say that you don’t have to apologize for being sad/upset/worried/devastated about your house flooding. Our troubles are not a scorecard or a tally sheet or some sort of competition. We can recognize that other people might have it worse off than we do while still appreciating that we ourselves are going through something very hard. You keep saying that they’re only things, but this is the house that you live in with your family, and they are things that you chose to put in that house, and it’s okay to be sad about it. No one (at least no one who truly cares about you and your family) is going to judge you for that. Remember to be gentle with yourself…you don’t have to be the strong one all the time.
That being said, y’all are in my thoughts, and I hope that you have much brighter days ahead!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you so much, Mary.
Nadine says
So sorry about your home…hopefully, nothing irreplaceable was lost. Everything else…just look at it as an opportunity to update! Have you tried the Sudoku app for your phone? It is awesome!
Kim says
I LOVE SUDOKU!!!!! I do the books and the app! What’s funny – I do them sometimes during my son’s baseball games. It calms me down when my nerves get all carried away. hahah. People think I’m crazy! Try it sometime!
I primed books – and bamboo sheets for my new bed – and bamboo pillows for my new bed – and a new bamboo mattress cover for my new bed. Can everybody guess that I’m having HOT flashes? 🙂
Continued prayers for you Shay!!!
Kay says
Shay, I’m so sorry to hear about your house. Made me sick reading about it this morning – sending prayers your way. Did your beautiful framed artwork from your travels and family pictures get damaged? I hope you were able to salvage them. I’ve always admired them when you do house tours. Blessings to you and your family. You are strong and have a wonderful family and friend camp that will help you get through this. Brighter days and pumpkins are ahead of you!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I was! Things would have been so different if we hadn’t of been at home, so I’m very thankful about that!

Lawd! You’re post got me ADDING to CART! 😉
Betty says
Praying for you during this difficult time! It never rains, but it pours, pun intended! God has a plan! God be with you!
Paula B says
Sending (virtual) hugs and prayers. You know all your pals here will have you and your family in our hearts. Ugh, to the rain and flooding and damage that came with it. But, here’s to: sunny, summer days, unexpected home improvements and calmer times. And, to pumpkins! (I think we are all looking forward to fall, right?)
Melody says
Would you please share where you got your green VACATION sweatshirt you were wearing in your stories yesterday?

Praying for the flood construction process to complete sooner than estimated! I can imagine the chaos and craziness that comes with a flood, having been through one with my family a decade ago — while we were on a short term mission trip! Praying for you all ?
