Happy happy FALL Friday, friends!
It’s been such a fun week.
Like an epic week 🙂 .
Okay, let’s settle in because not only is it Friday, but…one week from today is HALLOWEEN!

I’m just trying so very hard to soak it all up.
I’m trying to soak up the pumpkins, the food, the decorations, the movies…all of it. I hope you are too.
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing this week’s FAVORITE THINGS!
Let’s go…

Well, of course, my time this week in Disneyland and…

…Dancing with the Stars was my favorite Fave. 🙂
I will blog more pics and details later, but Mades and I just had the very best time.

Last week, I reminded you that it was time to buy our…

I buy their FAMILY PAJAMAS every year because they’re so soft, so comfy and so inexpensive!
I put a pair on to take a pic for you…

…and since I wasn’t going anywhere the rest of the day, I just kept them on all day while I worked. Oddly enough, my kids weren’t caught off guard that their holiday-loving mom was wearing Christmas pjs when they arrived home from school. In this pic, I’m wearing THIS SWEATSHIRT with THESE WAFFLE PRINTED PAJAMA LEGGINGS (they come in other prints too!). All of the holiday jammies are on BIG TIME SALE! Woohoo!
Speaking of Old Navy…

…my OH SOFT SWEATER DRESS arrived and wow, I thought it was cute! It comes in several other “fall-ish” colors and is under $30.
It’s just really cute and very soft without having any itchiness.

Yesterday was a Thursday that felt like a Friday.
I’m not sure what that makes today…but considering I’m at work and my kids are at school, it does not feel like a Saturday 😉 .
Due to inclement weather tonight, both McKinney and Lovejoy moved up their football games from Friday night to Thursday night which meant…

…the Friday morning pep rally was moved to Thursday morning.

Yesterday, we had a pep rally and two varsity football games…all faves of mine.
With lows in the 50s last night, I was able to wear…

…my new JACKET FROM TARGET! How cute is this buffalo plaid? I bought it in xs, but it does come sizes xxs to 4x. I have a feeling it will sell out QUICKLY!
I guess this means today, we get a bonus fall Friday night (with a side of thunderstorms!).
If you have any “new” fall movies we should watch, I’m all ears! Andrew showed me the Vicious trailer (with Dakota Fanning) on Wednesday night, and I was like UM, NO WAY IN THE WORLD! I want a cute fall movie rec…not one that will keep me up at night for a month.

Sweater weather is my favorite weather!

Since green is my favorite color, I bought this super super soft CHENILLE SWEATER in “everglade” for the holidays, but it comes in 7 other colors including a very Christmas-y red and neutrals too!

Love, love! THIS SWEATER is on sale now too!
And don’t forget…

…my OH SNAP! SWEATSHIRT comes in both festive colors and neutrals too and is also on sale!

I’m already dipping my toe into…

…the most wonderful time of the year 🙂 .
You can’t blame me…

…blame every single store I go in to that’s already merry and bright.
It makes me happy to see fall with a splash of Christmas at the same place.

You guys, this one here is VERY special to me.
A very, very sweet blog reader, Carolyn, reached out to me in 2020. She let me know that in 2016, as a student at Duke University, she and her friends started making my bundt cakes. She quickly realized that she not only loved making my bundt cake recipes, but the people in her life loved eating them too. Fast forward almost ten years and not only does Carolyn still make my bundt cakes quite frequently, but every year, she updates me on which ones she’s made for which occasions. She and I have gone back and forth over the years as she’s bundt caked baked her way through Duke graduation, pharmacy school, moves, new careers, and so many other life events. I ALWAYS get excited when she reaches out with details and photos of how my bundt cakes were a part of her year.
This week, I received my 2025 update, and this time, I thought I’d share some pics of Carolyn’s bundt cakes!
Just look…

…these are a few of the ones Carolyn made this year. How fun is that?!
Truly, truly, truly, it is so humbling to me when someone else takes the time and effort and spends the money on groceries to make recipes from my blog. Truly, it is so humbling.
Carolyn, you know I adore hearing from you. I am just so grateful you’ve taken me and my bundts along with you as you’ve gone from student to very accomplished career woman. It is such an honor.
If you want to make one of my very yummy bundt cakes too, you can see ALL 100+ BUNDT CAKE RECIPES HERE!

Finally today…

…it’s my annual round up of BOO-ZY COCKTAILS AND FAMILY BEVERAGES FOR HALLOWEEN…

…check out all the deliciousness HERE with some yummy appetizers too!
I hope you all have the BEST Friday! I will see you back here tomorrow for our bonus Saturday post. Until then, HAPPY HAPPY FALL FRIDAY! XX

I love that green sweater on you! And Dustin and I watched American Primeval together this week. It’s only 6 episodes, so really short and you could say it’s fallish since it’s a western. It was really good though!!

My husband and I just watched the 2020 version of The Witches and loved it! I think your whole family would like it, even the teens! I mean two almost 50 yr olds sure had fun watching it. Ha!
Also, I made your Reese Cup Bundt cake for my birthday cake a couple weeks ago and it was amazing! I took half of it to school the next day for my teacher friends and everyone raved. And yes I like to make my own bday cakes b/c I love to bake and I can do better than store bought. Ha!
Happy Friday Shay! We’re on the road to see our daughter at college for the weekend. FNL at Virginia Tech tonight… Go Hokies!
Mix and Match Mama says
Have the BEST fall weekend seeing your girl! I am going to watch the trailer for The Witches now! Thank you, thank you for the rec!
Katie Compton says
Let me know what you think! Make sure it’s the 2020 versions. Ann Hathaway is awesome! We streamed it on Hulu but I think it’s on other platforms. I told my husband I wanted to watch a “non-scary” Halloween movie and he found the perfect one!

Love the Bundt cake story! I’ve tried a few but my family always goes back to your original chocolate chip. Just last week my 16 year old granddaughter named it her favorite dessert which says quite a lot! Curious which one is yours and your family’s?
Mix and Match Mama says
Wow! THANK YOU!!! This makes me so happy! I love them all, but my personal favorite is the Pumpkin Spice Latte 🙂 .

Well because I know she won’t tell you I will brag on my daughter who literally makes no cake except your bundts and has for years. Her kids know them by heart and each have their favs! I got her your cookbook when it came out and she took off right then!😂 Although she doesn’t feel confident in her kitchen abilities she has come a long way and your recipes and ideas have helped that tremendously! We all love everything she bakes! So thanks from our family too! 💜
Mix and Match Mama says
This makes me SO HAPPY! Truly, my heart could burst. I am just very grateful you shared this. Please tell your daughter THANK YOU!! xx

That’s so fun to see Carolyn’s bundt cakes! My teenage daughters and I have been baking your bundt cakes together for years. We plan to bake the candy corn cake on Halloween. The white one and the chocolate one are our favorites. I usually keep ingredients for one of those on hand just incase we feel like baking.
Mix and Match Mama says
Please send me pics! I love, love, LOVE seeing photos of these recipes. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!!
Julie says

For me, this time of the year is all about Thanksgiving.
I love this holiday best because. . . no extraneous stuff, just family and gratitude (and a bit of great food—family traditions!)

“I want a cute fall movie rec…not one that will keep me up at night for a month”…hahaha, same!😊
Mix and Match Mama says
Watch the trailer of the one Andrew suggested and tell me if you could sleep for a month after watching the movie. The alone trailer is disturbing! Bahahaha!
Caryn H says
It’s not really a fall movie but I think it is a cozy feel good movie that’s worth watching- on Prime- The Ballad of Wallis Island.
Jill Snethen says
What a sweet story that Carolyn has been sharing your bundt cakes for so many years! Can’t wait to read the recap of Dancing with the Stars. What an incredible experience.
Marla says
You probably don’t realize how many of us own and love your cookbooks and recipes . I collect cookbooks which may sound weird but I read them like books. I have more than any one person should (lol) and have a large bookcase just for cookbooks . I have had to weed them out and give many of them away over the years because of space but yours are among my favorites. I have used them more than any others and have gifted them many times over. They are always so well received and I get such great feedback on any recipe that is tried. My friends and I look forward to your Monday meal planning every week and rely on it for meal planning . Your recipes are straightforward with simple ingredients and they are ALWAYS so good . You have spread love and joy through your recipes at our table over and over again throughout the years so much so that when my boys were growing up and would say their nighttime prayers they would frequently say “thank you for Mix and Match Mama-please bless her and her family “ I always thought it was so cute. I have never thought to share this before but it seems like the time and I thought you might get a kick out of it . Your blog just makes so many of us happy, inspired, fulfilled and the list goes on. Thank you Shay .
Mix and Match Mama says
Marla, you are truly one of my favorites. Thank YOU so very much for your kind words. I am so grateful for YOU!
Alisha says
DWTS!? I cannot wait to hear about that!!
Beth Knecht says
I loved reading that Carolyn has been making so many of your cakes! In the past week I’ve made 4 of your caramel bundt cakes! 2 for cookouts, one for church and one for school. And then I also made your snickerdoodle one for church too! Everyone has enjoyed them so much…and my 4-year old has loved helping me too!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU so much Beth!! I am so blessed by it!
Kristen says
Ok, so Monday we need this DWTS very thorough recap, lol! My daughter and I watch every week. I need every teeny tiny detail from what happens during commerical breaks, what couples have the best chemistry in person, what were judges like? Do they show the audience the video recaps of what happens before they take stage or is that just for us? Do you get to mingle w/ talent afterwards.. thanks!! lol
Mix and Match Mama says
I will do a post on it soon!! I promise!!
Jami Romano says

We watch the Bakeshop Ghost in October every year. It’s a short movie, only 17 min, but funny and sweet and great for the whole family. It’s based on a children’s book. It’s on YouTube.
Love watching the Halkmark fall/ Halloween movies. October Kiss, Falling In Vermont, Growing the Big One and Pumpkin Pie Wars are favorites.
I enjoy starting my day with your blog. Happy Fall!

I still love my little Bundt cake book and write on the pages of it the occasions I make them for:) My favorites are the Chocalate Chip and the Celebration Cake (first and last) I have also given your book in a Bundt pan with utensils for wedding gifts several times.
For my daughters best friends wedding shower she wanted Bundt cakes and I still have the sticky note in my book of the list of cakes she went through and picked.
Such a treasure you created!
