Eeeks.
What day is it?
What am I doing?
Are those more presents to wrap?
Where is my tape?
Dang, where am I hiding this?
Where is Andrew?
What time is it?
Seriously, where is Andrew?
Why do we have three dogs?
Who did I order that for?
I need that tape.
ANYONE ELSE?
I feel like it’s crunch time. I was up at 5:00 on Saturday morning wrapping gifts and watching The Holiday…which is both lovely and crazy at the same time…and I’m a little afraid that I might end up like this at some point today…
…this is how I found Madeley last Monday afternoon. Bahahaha! I laugh every time I look at this picture. ANYONE ELSE?!
Okay, today’s post is a bunch of holiday randomness.
Starting with…
…this battery caddy! Andrew LOVES this so much, and we’ve already purchased several more for gifts. Seriously, the organized batteries makes my hubby super happy! This would be a great gift!
Speaking of which…
…my go-to gift this year for neighbors, friends and family! My friend Lori gifted something similar to me, and I LOVED it so much, that now, I’m doing the same. You take a bottle of wine and tie (with Christmas ribbon) a magnetic wine foil cutter to the top. Easy as that! These wine foil cutters come two to a pack, so I just opened the package and used one for each bottle. So fun, so handy and so nice to gift!
I thought I’d jazz up our front porch with a new holiday doormat this year…you know, to distract from all the dirt and mud on our sidewalk, porta-potty and dumpster…but it arrived in October, and I did such an excellent job “putting it somewhere out of the way” that I couldn’t find it. Sigh. Anyone else do that?! Andrew found it on Friday though (woohoo, I had put it in the garage…why? I’m not sure?!)…
I was so excited that we found it, I needed to share a picture with you 🙂 .
So cute, right?! Almost makes you not see the dirt 😉 . I just noticed that they’re on sale now too!
Ironically, our original Little People nativity set (that we bought when K was one!) was lost in the flood. (So much Biblical irony…) Don’t ask me how…but it was in our bedroom (why, it was June?) the night of the flood, and it never made it back with the rest of our stuff. I bought us a new set along with a book for my newest little reader. I love seeing this out in my kitchen all season long, and my sweet girls playing with it and reading the story.
Awww! We watched this on Saturday night, and it was just as cute as the first one. Who doesn’t love them some Kurt and Goldie?! All of my kids loved this movie!
I had so many questions about this on my Stories yesterday! If you’re looking for a little morning protein this season, here you go! It’s all on the slide 🙂 !
I haven’t reminded you about this yet…but…
…make sure you check out my REINDEER FOOD for the actual reindeers! They will love it up on your roof come Christmas Eve and then also…
…my REINDEER FOOD for YOU to enjoy all season long 🙂 .
Okay, that’s it for today! I have an easy Meal Planning Monday today for your crazy busy/fun/stressful/amazing/twinkle light-filled week! I have to go now…because I’m in the middle of writing my post for Wednesday which is MY VERY FAVORITE POST OF THE ENTIRE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any guesses?!?! I AM SO EXCITED!! But first, I’ll see you back here tomorrow 🙂 .
Here’s wishing you a Merry Monday…and hopefully, none of us wind up like this tonight 😉 .
Kristen Thompson says
Eek is it your book review for December and favorite books of 2020?? My favorite! Merry Christmas and good luck with all that wrapping!
Erika Slaughter says
Happy Monday, Friend! I woke up twenty minutes before my alarm which always makes me think I’m gonna end up like Madeley way before bedtime. But it’s just twenty minutes? WHY do I think that?
Kate Tobin says
So funny, so true! Every time I open the front door, my 4 year old asks, what is it now
Mommy? Ha ha!
Have a great week!
Natasha says
At my house it the scissors. Seriously, who keeps taking my scissors?!?!?!
I’m guessing your Wednesday post is your final book review post for 2020, along with your top books for the year. If I’m right, is What’s Up Wednesday happening for December? Will it be a Thursday this month? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Yay!!!! And I think Sheaffer is going to do it alone the following week. I’ll ask her right now!

Laura says
Madeley is just precious. Glad you found the rug! It looks beautiful. What size is it? Also, do you put presents in gift bags or do you wrap everything? Hope you’re enjoying the season. ?
Mix and Match Mama says
I wrap 99%. I have the largest one since my door is oversized (whatever size that is!).
Pamela says
I had to laugh, the doormats are on sale if your last name starts with Q or X (or U in the larger size)! Glad you found yours, it looks great. I wonder if the new Elf cereal would work well in the Reindeer Food recipe?
Mix and Match Mama says
Hahaha! Really?! I didn’t even see that! I’ll have to tell my friend Brandee Ubels!! 😉
Susanne Nieman says
Eeeks!!! It’s your last book review of the year, isn’t it?!! Cannot wait!!
Mix and Match Mama says
YES!!!!!!!!!
Julie says
OMG Shay, YES! My kids always end up in that same exact position at some point throughout the day-lol! We call it ‘the starfish’ and they always do it in the most highly trafficked area of our house. So we have to step over them to get by. It’s usually after a morning of online school ha. The funny thing is my kids are older, 10, 13, 14 and my 10 and 13 year old are still mopping the floor each day. I’m guessing tomorrow is your favorite books of the year? I hope so-cannot wait. I’m almost finished with ‘In a Holidaze’ and this is surprising, but it might be my most favorite EVER holiday book! (Along with Winter Street series). I love all the holiday traditions, the cabin, the cast of characters. Such a fun read.
Tara says
Hi! Can you give the details on the kitchen runner? Would love it in a full size rug!
Mix and Match Mama says
There is a carpet center here in McKinney, and I had them make it (I picked out the swatch). It’s Builder’s Direct off Alma in McKinney!
Marianne says
Loved the battery daddy and went out and bought 3, for my boys and husband! Great gift!

I have a feeling it might be your annual book review….
Mix and Match Mama says
It is!!!!!
Kayla Sugrue says
Every time I see a picture of Madeley with her curlers in her hair it makes me laugh because when I was about her age I would ask my mom to put foam rollers in my hair every night so I could have curly hair like some of my friends! So cute!
Mix and Match Mama says
Me too!!!!!!!!!!!
Angie R says
Coming tomorrow….top 3 books of the year??
Mix and Match Mama says
On Wednesday!!!

Jes says

Mix and Match Mama says

You’re my Hallmark Movie Queen, so I’m dying to know, what is your favourite Hallmark Christmas movie? Any new ones this year that you love?
Happy Monday!
Mix and Match Mama says
I would say Jingle Bell Bride and on the 12th Date of Christmas! So many are super cute though!!
Anne says
Hi Shay! Curious if you and Andrew still use the “rain day closet” idea with your kid’s gifts at Christmas and birthdays?
Mix and Match Mama says
We do!!!
Dana says
End of year book review is my guess and I cannot wait!! The Madeley pics just kill me ?love how she can sleep anywhere!! Happy Monday!!
Michelle says
I wish I could sleep like she does. I only get a few good hours at a time.
Gonna try the protein pancake today. Wonder if my kids would like it!!
Debbie says
You have no idea how much we need that battery organizer. I’m ordering it for my husband for Christmas right now (he will thank me later) lol!
Laura says
Your new doormat reminds me of Cinderella’s carriage (the gold scrollwork around the S), and I mean that in a good way 🙂
Angel says
Love the doormat.
I am so bummed that the Trader Joe’s in my area does not carry the Brioche Gluten Free bread to make your casserole. Apparently, it is a specialty item that only certain regions carry.
Ruby Huling says
Your door mat looks great! My eagle eye noticed in your pictures last week that you did not have a holiday themed one. I thought to myself, Shay needs a different door mat to go with her beautiful decorations!! Lol. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family!!?
Genevieve says
Hi Shay, What kind of vanilla protein powder do you use?
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s a Whey protein powder!
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
I am Madeley every day this month ? and I’m so excited about tomorrow because of course it has to be your favorite books of the year post!!
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams
Gina says
Shay those pancakes looks delicious. I am curious though to know what kind of oats(quick cooking or rolled oats?
Thank you
Gina
Mix and Match Mama says
We use gluten-free quick cooking oats!
Dana S says
Thank you for the battery organizer idea! I bought 2 for gifts that I was at a loss for. I love your blog and have enjoyed your posts!
Kc says
How much do you spend on Christmas gifts per kid?
Mix and Match Mama says
It varies, and it’s not always the same for each kid. I try and do what’s right for each kiddo that particular year.
stacy grant says
Stop! Don’t buy Battery Daddy at Amazon!! I found it at Bed Bath and Beyond for half that price and you can pick up in store!! Thanks for the idea! Perfect gift for someone who has everything!

Mix and Match Mama says
We need to watch that one!!
Tracy says
I am ordering my hubs that battery organizer asap!
Sara F says
We have the same Little People nativity scene, and my 3 year old has taken interest this year, especially with the cow. I’ve started telling him about baby Jesus, and that it’s his birthday on Christmas. Now, when we ask him, “Whose birthday is it on Christmas?” He says, “Baby Jesus, and baby Jesus’ cow!” HA! I’m not sure if I get an A for effort or if its a fail, but its adorable either way.
