Friends!!!!!

It’s the last day before SPRING BREAK!

In fact, Spring Break starts at 3:00 today and you better believe, WE.ARE.READY.

I say this every year (and you know it’s true), Spring Break ruins me.

After Spring Break, I’m ready for summer.  I want to be outside.  I want to stop making school lunches.  I want to swim.  I want to wear shorts.  It’s funny how quickly I go from July to October (really, my brain is all about the pumpkins pretty much by July 31st) and then I jump straight from Spring Break to SUMMERTIME.  Ha!  We all know I’m never going to change in this department, so we might as well embrace it.

As of 3:00 today, I’m officially “on vacation” and spending time with my family.  Our office will be closed, baseball season for Smith starts and we are going to enjoy the time as a family.  We are going to head to sunny Florida next week, so I might post a pic or two on Instagram if you want to follow along, but as for blog world, it’s going to pause until Monday, March 15th while I hang with my fam and enjoy the break.

Look what I got this week…

…isn’t it HAPPY?!  My sweet friend Lori put my favorite Bible verse on a plate, and it makes me smile each and every time I see it.

Over the years, I’ve shown you so many cute plates that Lori has created for my family, and many use my kids hands and feet prints, but so many of her designs are custom made for friends who don’t live locally too.  For instance…

…a cute Mother’s Day or Father’s Day plate can be created as a gift.  Three years ago, I gave Andrew one for Father’s Day that says “Dad’s Grilling Buddies”, and he always uses it when he makes chicken, hot dogs or burgers on the grill.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you for the book recommendations on Monday!!  I have already added four of your recommendations to my Kindle for Spring Break.  If you have any other ones, please let me know.  This time of year, I tend to gravitate towards chick lit/beach books, but I probably should add a good thriller and/or biography to my Kindle for March too.  If you missed my post, make sure you catch it HERE.

…it was basically like wearing a light sweatshirt all day which I LOVED!  It comes in two other colors too.

Okay, I am so pleased with this Amazon top right here!!  I thought the fit was adorable, I loved the sleeves, the quality was great and it comes in a variety of colors.  Love, love, love!

Okay, I did this last year and you girls told me you loved it, so I’m going to do it again.  Here are a few things I bought for Florida that you might like too!  All a little beachy 🙂 .

I’ve shared this set with you many times.  I love that there is a variety of objects inside, I love that it comes in a bag so it’s easy to transport and carry, and I love that it’s way less expensive than buying it when I arrive at the beach.  All four of my kids use these!

I get asked all the time during the summer what my favorite sunscreen is, and this is always my go-to for my body…

…and this glow screen for my face!  I also love the matte version too.

I also bought this tote to take.  I love that it zips and has a longer strap plus…

…this hat.  I love a good “packable” hat!

The number one question I received this week????

What paint did your mom use on Kensington’s dresser?????

My sweet mom sent me the info to share with you!

She used two coats of this primer on it first and then…

…two to three coats of this enamel paint.  She said she used three coats on the corners.

Lookin’ for a little sweet treat to make this St. Paddy’s Day!  Try our Grasshopper Fudge!  We, of course, use gluten-free Oreos, and not only is this so easy, IT’S SO GOOD TOO!  I typically don’t have a hard time turning down sweet stuff (dips and cheese, those are my weaknesses), but this fudge is crazy delish.  I cannot stay out of it when we make it.

 

Finally, my last favorite this week is…

On Saturday, March 13th, Andrew and I will celebrate 17 years of marriage.

Holy cow!

That’s a long time 🙂

It has not always been easy, and we’ve had our fair share of really hard married days…but oh my word, I am so grateful and thankful for Andrew Shull.  I cannot imagine life without this man, and I’m honored and thankful that 17 years ago today, he said “I do” to me.  Besides Jesus, he’s the best thing to ever happen to me, and I hope we get at least another 60 years together too.

Happy Spring Break!  I’ll see you again on March 15th. xx Shay

    I teach in NYC and our spring break is tied to Easter and Passover. So ours is at the end of the month. I 100% agree, spring break ruins me. I just want summer and days relaxing on the beach.

    As for book recommendations I totally recommend The Flight Attendant by Chris Bohjalian. HBO max just made it into a comedy thriller and I can’t wait to read the book and watch the show.

    Our Spring Break up north here is always over Easter. We get the Wednesday thru Easter Monday off. Other districts around here get off Monday thru Friday of Easter week. Curious your thoughts of it then vs. early March when you get off. Sadly, no plans for us this year. Waiting on vaccines and hopeful we can go alway this summer. Enjoy your trip for me too!!!

      I like having them separated, but I guess I really don’t care much either way. We get out of school around May 20th now, so having it in March breaks it up between Christmas and the end of school.

    I’m in the middle of listening to 4 Winds. It is not a happy book with characters that are flawed, unrequited, and sad. Not a beach read. I know everyone is reading it because, well, it Kristen Hannah but drought and dust storms….not much good comes of it all.just saying..

    Another paint option for folks is Benjamin Moore Insl-X. I’ve done furniture, bathroom vanities & my kitchen cabinets. Rolls on well or works great with a sprayer. No priming.

    I have a book recommendation for you: Mother Land by Leah Franqui. It’s not chick lit or particularly beachy read, but it really made me think about relationships with others and with myself.

    We used to go to Florida/ Disney every February vacation and I always felt like that ruined me for spring. When we flew home all I wanted was sunshine and warmth and we usually had at least two more months of snow, ice, and cold. I can absolutely see how spring break would ruin you for the rest of the school year! Our break isn’t until Mid April…

    I live in Virginia, but loved your handprint plates so much. I reached out to Lorie and she shipped out plates and paint so fast to me so I could capture our newborns footprints for a plate. I LOVE it so much! I plan on getting so many more plates from her.
