Happy Friday from Ashby’s birthday getaway 🙂 .
Ashby, Bowen and I are taking a 24 hour little getaway to soak up the fun, sun, and yummy food in honor of her turning 9 on Wednesday. If you’re looking for me today…don’t! Ha! I’m either riding some sort of tube ride or deep into the room service menu right now. I’ll share details and pics next week 🙂 .
In the meantime, it’s my Friday Faves!
It’s a fun-filled summer edition and as always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika .
So much sunshine and summertime right now 🙂 .
My first fave is a great one…
…awwwww! Last weekend, the little girls had their dance recital!! They were both PRECIOUS!!!!
Each girl had a ballet performance and then Ashby had a lyrical dance while Mades had hip hop. Yeah…hip hop. It was amazing! Ha! That being said, Andrew and I BOTH CRIED watching Ashby do lyrical. That girl is just so unstoppable.
It was a very sweet morning of dance for our family!
My second fave this week? My new Hydrow Rowing Machine! Here’s the deal…if you know me in real life, then you know that I’ve been asking Andrew for an actual boat every single Mother’s Day for seven years. I want to row in the lake by our house. Andrew always has a list of objections (namely, he doesn’t enjoy me participating in any activity that will require him store an actual boat, help me drag one out into a lake daily and/or require him to get in said lake to help me should I get stuck…to be fair…all valid objections…). This year though, I got smarter and asked for a rowing machine instead of an actual boat for Mother’s Day. It arrived last week, and I am HOOKED! I will get to know my Hydrow better and do a post on it at some point…but so far, I’ve done at least a 10 minute row every day for a week and LOVE IT! I wanted it outside in the garage and not indoors so that it felt more authentic. It’s amazing. If you have rowing tips, please share!!!
I have a few super cute new finds for you this week just in time for your June…
…first up, how cute is this romper?! I love it so much! It’s casual yet a bit elevated. You could run errands in it or throw on some sandals and have dinner on the patio with your girlfriends. It’s TTS (I bought xs). So cute and really comfy too! Also, my turquoise hoops are light and give everything that summertime punch.
Speaking of rompers…
…I wore this romper from Amazon to Ashby’s birthday dinner and thought it was SO ADORABLE! I love it when an Amazon find works out! I couldn’t be happier with this find. I thought the material was great, the fit (I bought it in a small) was good, it didn’t feel cheap or inexpensive (it’s at a great price!). I will be wearing this a lot this summer. It comes in multiple colors, but the navy spoke to my heart.
And those turquoise hoops were a good match too 🙂 .
Speaking of turquoise earrings…
…I thought these were adorable too with my ruffle tank 🙂 . These earrings are super, super light and come in several other colors.
So much summer happiness!
I’ve worn several tees and tanks from Target this spring and early summer. This tee is only $8, and I love the color, the cut and the fact that it washes and dries without shrinking!
My current go-to breakfast! I can whip all of this up in under five minutes (with a cup of coffee and sudoku on the side!). It’s a slice of g-free toast with homemade jam, one tomato (from my garden), half an avocado and then one of those delicious cauliflower and Swiss frittatas from Trader Joe’s with…
…Habanero Hot Sauce on the side!
It’s really the perfect combination!
Wrapping up my Friday Faves this week…
…another cocktail for your summer! Our Peanut Butter and Whiskey Cocktail is basically an adult milkshake. It would be very refreshing poolside this weekend!
That’s it for this week! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! xo

Love the outfits! I have a totally unrelated question for you about what self tanner you use. Your skin just glows!! I remember you posted about it a few years back but couldn’t remember what brand and how you apply it. Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh you’re so sweet! I stopped using self-tanner early May after Mexico. This is all from just being outside all day, every day!

You are adorable in those rompers!

I think I speak for everyone when I say, please post a video of Madeley doing hip hop on your Instagram!!!! I am dying to see the cuteness
Debbie Hibbert says
I second that!?
Colleen says
What size shirt are you wearing from target?
Mix and Match Mama says
xs!
Natalie says
I wear that shirt from target all the time. Same color and everything. It’s so comfortable and can wear anywhere. I seriously need to get more colors! Out of all the shirts in my closet if that one is clean I’m pulling it off the hanger ? yes a $8 shirt for target
Deb says
Could you do a tutorial on your braids? So cute!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t do them! I have a couple of friends who do and occasionally, they’ll do them for me. I need to learn!
Andrea says
Breakfast question….I’ve noticed in pics from your Instagram stories that you also eat turkey bacon sometimes for breakfast. Do you have a favorite brand and way to make it? I have tried it a few times but wasn’t a fan.
Mix and Match Mama says
We almost always buy Oscar Meyer!
Chelsea says
Oscar Meyer turkey bacon is my favorite too! Closest to the real deal 🙂

I developed a horrible bum burn while taking classes at OT, which typically involves about 20 minutes of rowing. I mentioned this to another person and she suggested that I try Chamois Buttr and it worked wonders. I would just slather it on my bum down the middle and no more burn. It was a game changer for me. You can find it on Amazon.

I did crew for 8 years in high school and college and loved it. A tip – when moving away from your screen, your body should move in this order: legs, back, arms. When moving forward, opposite: arms, back, legs. It looks fluid once you have it down, but I’d take the time to slowly do that and then speed it up. It helps prevent any injury. Enjoy your rowing machine!

I go to Orangetheory, where I gained a love for rowing. Technique is so important! There’s a coach at a studio in California who now has his own rowing programs online and tons of tips on different exercises and rowing on his Instagram. His name is Austin and his page can be found @trainingtall

Hope that getaway is fantastic! I have always enjoy rowing machines whenever I get anywhere near a gym but never thought of getting one to actually use at a home. Enjoy!
Andrea says
You need an inflatable kayak! No help from Andrew required :).

Totally unrelated post request! Can you do a post about the clothes you buy for Kensington? My 11 year old daughter wears a uniform for school so street clothes take a back burner nine months of the year. My daughter is phasing out of my go-to kid brands and I’m struggling to find brands and trends that are appropriate for a tween that we both like. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do think this age is hard because sizing is so weird (is she an adult size or a kid size) and K doesn’t want to dress like me, but she also doesn’t want to dress like Ashby (and could size with both of us). It’s hard!
