Hey, hey Friday!
I mean…I really don’t know what day it is, but if everyone insists that it’s Friday, I’m not going to argue. My week feels super off and honestly, I would have said Tuesday, but I’ll take your word for it 😉 .
Earlier this week, I did a poll asking what today’s post should be and the results were pretty close…
…so, today’s post is mostly Friday Faves with a bit of packing thrown in for good measure.
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika .
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! I’m going to hang out with my grandparents a bit which is always a blessing.
Happy Friday!!
First Fave…
…before our trip to London, we hung out with our Besties which is ALWAYS a fun time!
After that, we celebrated…
…Mr. Smith’s 12th birthday!! If you’re local, we had this VERY delicious chocolate gluten-free cake from Unrefined Bakery in Frisco. It was SO delicious! If you didn’t know it was g-free, you wouldn’t have known.
I came in the family room and saw this nugget reading her new Peppa book. It makes my heart SO HAPPY that I have another little reader in the house. She was clearly enjoying the book 😉 .
Give me all the family time. In a few weeks, we’ll be deep into baseball/soccer/volleyball season, but for now, we’re savoring all the weekends without the business.
Helllllllo?! Have you and your family watched Encanto yet?! Oh my word! WE ARE OBSESSED! I think we’ve watched it 4 billion times. Maybe 5 billion. This new movie on Disney+ is adorable!!! If you love great music and feel good fun, watch it. It’s seriously just so, so, so cute! Kensington (my teenager!) says it’s her favorite movie, so it’s perfect for kids of all ages.
What did I pack for London?
Well, I aimed for layers and neutrals this trip!
Here are a few of my outfits from the flight to site-seeing, when we saw Hamilton and more!
At DFW about to board my 10 hour flight to London! I wore my Spanx leggings (the best!) with a black sweatshirt (not current), and my denim jacket. My Sorel boots were perfect for the airport walkin’ too!
Heading out to see Hamilton the next afternoon, and I wore this ADORABLE blouse (love it so much!) with my blackish-grey jeans and boots!
Does this blouse say “Happy Valentine’s dinner” or what?! It packed so well too!
Speaking of “packed well and didn’t wrinkle”…this black dress will be on repeat! I loved the length, I loved the slit, I loved the ribbing (so flattering!)…and I loved how soft and comfy it was. I could have worn this on the plane! Also, aren’t my booties cute?! I wore them almost every single night! They were comfortable, the heel height was perfect…loved.
Sweater, boots and those jeans again! Yes, yes, yes!
Please note, you’ll see me wearing this necklace in every picture too 🙂 .
Speaking of which…
...this jumpsuit was STELLAR! I am normally not a jumpsuit girl, but when I went into the store, the nice lady helping me insisted I try it on. I love it so much!!! I will be wearing this one on repeat. It runs TTS.
This time, I paired my booties with those jeans (again!), this sleeveless sweater and this adorable blazer! Dinner out in London? Yes, please!
You know how picky I am about sweaters (I cannot stand ANY itchiness!). This one was super soft and perfect for a day of site seeing with my jeans and boots…
…and hat and scarf 🙂 .
But how do I pack it all???? See Fave #4!
Awwwww…all praise to the packing cube!
Now, I did an entire post on why I don’t travel ANYWHERE without my packing cubes a few years ago. You can read it HERE. I don’t care if I’m leaving for one night, I use packing cubes. We pack every single item in there when we travel.
For this trip, I organized my clothes and shoes by colors and placed them folded on my bed. Then, I brought out my cubes…
…packed them in there (all nice and snug), dropped them in my suitcase and was ready to go! Everything from my undies to my shoes (which I later added to large cubes, not pictured) were in…
…my suitcase and I was ready to go!
My last Fave for this last Friday in January…
…I’m sharing my Crazy Good Breakfast Casseroles.
From sausage to bacon, veggies, potatoes, and oh so much cheese, your weekend needs one of these EASY recipes!!
That’s it for this week! I had such a great trip, but I am very glad to be back here with YOU! I’ll see you all on Monday! xx

Winter reminds me of Christmas and Christmas of snow, gifts and book sales. As an Indie author, Christmas is the season for maximum sales and https://usbookreviews.com helped get reviews and visibility for my book and sales during peak season last year. This year they have an amazing, never before seen offer and I am thrilled to share the bounty with my author friends. Christmas is a season for sharing after all. 🙂
Erika Slaughter says
GIRL!! You pulled that blazer off! That’s adorable!
Ashley-Rae Vaughan says
How do you pack your hats?
Mix and Match Mama says
Upside down in my suitcase with items around them (like other packing cubes).
Kate says
Did you know that the Encanto songs (which are also on repeat in our household!) were written by the same guy, Lin Manuel Miranda, who wrote Hamilton? Such good music!
Mix and Match Mama says
YES!!!!!!!
Moica says
Ooooh…do I spy a chunky gold necklace?
Sheaffer says
Love you in that black dress!!!! AND THAT BLAZER IS SO GOOD.
Annaliza R says
Thank you for posting what you packed. It has given me so many ideas. Is there any chance you could post what Andrew packed with links? My husband isn’t a big shopper so I’m left to buy all his clothes.
Clare Butler says
That jumpsuit! ? Gorgeous!!!
Andrea says
Random question but how are you styling your jeans with the boots? Are you rolling them, tucking, something else? What to do with the bottom of my jeans is always my issue!!! Thanks and happy Friday!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It depends on my jeans and boots, but often, they’re just tucked in there and stay put since my jean style is always “skinny” at the bottom.

I am packing as we speak to go visit my dad and those cubes have revolutionized my packing! Have been using them for several years since seeing them on your blog (the exact same ones) and they’ve held up excellent. Worth the money- and they’re so reasonably priced!
Cindy says
How do you pack the packing cubes to keep your clothes from wrinkling too much? Mine almost always wrinkle badly.
Mix and Match Mama says
They stay so tight and snug in the cube that they don’t shift around and get wrinkled. Some people roll their clothing, but I think a nice fold stacked up with other folded clothes is the best way to do it.
Meagan says
Thanks for sharing what you packed, always love to read about and gain knowledge from your adventures. Can you share where your grey tote is from? It’s adorable and looks perfect for holding all the travel items!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s from YSL!
Dana P says
Have you guys seen Sing 2? We absolutely loved it!! Our kids love Encanto, but I haven’t sat down to watch it yet. I’ve heard it’s great!
Mix and Match Mama says
We haven’t yet but it’s on our list!!
Melissa says
Love it all. Where is your gray carry-on bag from? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
YSL!
Gwen says
So do the packing cubes actually save room or does it just help with organization?
Mix and Match Mama says
YES!!!!!!! Read my original post that’s linked and I show pics! It’s crazy how much room it saves!!
Corren says
Maybe something for another blog post/podcast but how far in advance do you have trips planned? Like, for example, do you have things booked and on the calendar for 2024?
Mix and Match Mama says
Like for me personally or for my clients? Andrew and I know where we want to go on trips through 2023. As far as my clients go, we typically have trips booked up to 18 months out.
Traci says
So much goodness! So glad y’all had a great trip!!
Do you still have the link to your leather Apple Watch strap?!!
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s from the Apple store!
Jill F Lyons says
Please tell me about that gray tote that’s on top of your suitcase!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s from YSL!
Lauren says
I am going to DC for the first time next month (YAY!) and need good (and cute!) shoes for all of the walking I will be doing! Any suggestions?
Mix and Match Mama says
I love my Nike Daybreak sneakers!! They’re my fave for places like Disney!
Kathy says
It’s not Frisco, it’s San Francisco!
A proud, native San Franciscan!
Mix and Match Mama says
The town right next to our town is called Frisco, TX 🙂 . That’s where the cake is from.
Elizabeth Feldpausch says
I ALWAYS love your bags!! I wish you shared about them more often! It always give Me inspiration! Always, I was sort of hoping you got a new one in London, did you??
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwwwww! A girl after my own heart! You know how much I love a bag 🙂 . I ended up with two new ones! A Burberry (of course!) and a Fendi.
Andrea says
Jumpsuit question…would you say it’s more of a date night outfit or something that can also be worn around family? I can’t really tell from the picture how low cut it is. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I would say it could be both. I would wear it to a family dinner (like with my parents, etc!)
Makila says
Packing cubes for life! I never pack without them either!!!
Kim N says
Love to see how other people pack! For me when flying I am always concerned about my suitcase being over the weight limit. Everything fits in my suitcase fine, but it is always dangerously close to the weight limit and then I feel like I can’t buy anything on the trip or it would definitely be over. Do you ever have that issue? Or do you just pay the upcharge? Maybe I just need to pack less but that’s so hard!
Melysa says
Always love your clothes. I tend to gauge the size I need based on your size and I noticed every once in awhile you’ll say what size but most often you don’t. Would you mind too much when you’re sharing clothes what size you’re wearing? If it feels true to size or size up or down in your personal opinion.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! If I don’t mention a size, you can always assume it’s my TTS which for tops, jackets, dresses, leggings…is an xs. For jeans, I wear a 26 and my shoe size is an 8. Sorry! I should always include that, but I often forget when everything runs TTS.
