Friends, it’s a SUPER-SIZED EDITION of What’s Up Wednesday!
I feel like I have SO MUCH to share today!
Grab your coffee and settle in. If you’re new to WUW, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Here we go…
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Did you check out today’s recipe?! I’m sharing my Easy Weeknight Sausage Pasta (just had it again on Monday night!) ANNNNND…
…a promo code for Our Place!!! Yes, yes, yes! Today, my readers can get 10% off their Our Place order with promo code MIXANDMATCH10.
Head over to my recipe post today to check out my easy weeknight recipe plus all the details on why I’m smitten with the Perfect Pot.
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Our trip to Miami last year! The Shull crew is R-E-A-D-Y for our spring break trip this year too!!! We’re ready to say bye to winter weather and hello to some sunshine 🙂 .
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
You guys, I am still LOVING…
…The Bible Recap!! I just cannot tell you enough how much I love it and look forward to it each morning. You can read all about how to “do it” HERE on her site. I didn’t take my big book with me when we went to London. I just took my journal and then read the daily scriptures off my Bible app and listened to the podcast for the day (instead of reading out of the Recap book). I really can’t recommend this enough. Do not worry that you’re not starting this on January 1st. Just start whenever you receive your copy on Day One and go from there. I can already tell you that I’ll do this study over and over again in the years to come.
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
The boys were out of town over the three-day weekend, so we had lots of girl time. We slept in, we went to soccer practice, we went to the mall, baked a cake, ate Chinese food, watched two RomComs and did A TON of artwork. It was a very productive girl weekend 🙂 .
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
Girls, now that we have Ashby’s surgery behind us, I’m feeling light as a feather! This morning, actually, I’m taking her to get her stitches removed, so that will be the final piece of the surgery #23 puzzle. We do not currently have another one on the calendar, and my mama heart relishes the break. A healthy and happy Ashby makes everything better around here 😉 .
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
We did a little home project this month that I’m hoping to have wrapped up soon. I will share pics as soon as it’s finished. Another home project? Yes. I know. I blame my interior design mother for this way of life 😉 .
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Did someone say spring break?
Our spring break is earlier than most…which I don’t love, but hey, I’m just excited that it’s almost here. Bring on the family time!!
8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I feel like there are so many shows I need to catch up on. All of a sudden, I went from zero shows to watch to several. We were SO invested in the Olympics this year, so that slowed down my TV watching. Here’s what’s on my docket:
1: Yellowstone season 4 (I started but haven’t finished it)
2: 1883 (everyone keeps telling me I’ll love it more than Yellowstone)
3: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel just released season 4…YES, YES, YES!!
4: Ozark season 4
5: Sheaffer is insisting I watch Brothers & Sisters
Where should I start?! Please comment and boss me around 😉 .
Also, my February Book Review will be out on MONDAY!!!
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I have this on in the background while I work today…
…a classic!
10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
Did you catch me live on Evereve’s IG last night?! They asked me to select some favorite pieces for traveling this season. I selected a combination of neutrals that I thought would layer well and complement each other. Plus, all of these pieces will look great after a long flight (no wrinkling!) and pack easily! I have pics and links to all of the items we talked on the Live.
I am wearing an xs in the dress, gauze shorts, every top and denim jacket, a size 26 in the denim shorts and a size 8 in my shoes. I feel that every piece does run true to size.
Here’s what I loved…
You know how much I loved…
…this dress for our trip to London, well now, they have an updated style in new colors for this season! Both of these dresses are SO flattering and pack so well! Plus, they work year around too! My booties are HERE.
I just wore this exact outfit to dress on Sunday!
In every picture with my new Evereve outfits, I’m wearing the same accessories (perfect for spring and summer!)…
…how cute are these EARRINGS?! They’re so light too!
Plus, of course, I needed this…
And then finally, look at these cute bracelets…
…the perfect neutral stack!
You can take the dress and add…
…a very cute WRAP…or…
This tank here comes in so many great colors! The quality is so nice that I bought it again in admiral…
TANK//DENIM SHORTS//SANDALS//WRAP
So, the sandals. THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE!!!! Kensington was walking around the house in them, and I had to tell her that we can share but she cannot take them and keep them. I love this style of Birkenstock. Super cute and super comfy! Also, these shorts are great because they’re a bit longer than I normally wear with a lot of “give” in them. Super comfy yet super cute!
These shorts here are so comfy that they feel like workout shorts…
TANK//GAUZE SHORTS//SANDALS//WRAP
…they pull on, they’re light, they’re gauzy…you can dress them up or down.
Finally, this is the outfit I had on during the Live last night…
GAUZE SHORTS//SWEATER//SANDALS
…love 🙂 .
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Spring Soccer starts this weekend and so does…
…baseball!
Plus, we also have…
…a volleyball tournament too. Bring. On. The. Fun!
12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH:
You guys, this is a new question for WUW! This was Sheaffer’s idea, and I love it!
I went back to see what I’ve purchased from Amazon this month and decided that this was my favorite find…
…after our house got rained inside, we decided that water is our #1 enemy, so Andrew bought us these sensors for behind the washing machine and the kids’ bathrooms. Well, this month, he decided to buy more to add to every single sink/toilet in the house and guess what?! THE DAY HE ADDED THEM, THE GUEST TOILET LEAKED AND IT NOTIFIED US! Praise the Lord!! We were able to turn off the water and stop the water from ruining the floors, baseboards, cabinets, etc. The second the sensors feel water, you get text notifications letting you know which sensor has felt water. It’s amazing! You should totally put these in your house too!
13: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Time away with my peeps including…
…celebrating 18 years of marriage with this guy 🙂 .
That is it for today! If you blogged WUW today too, make sure you link up below!
I’ll see you all back here tomorrow!
Lauren says
I have multiple questions– sorry! First of all, your tan in your new outfit pics is ?. Are you still using the Isle of Paradise drops and mixing it into your lotion or have you switched to something else (I’m talking whole body, not just face).
And second question, I’m so impressed by how you get everything done in a weekend with all the sports! I feel like by the time Monday would roll around I’d be more tired headed into the week. You must be superwoman! Have you ever done a “Weekend in the Life of the Shulls”? If not, I’d like to formally request that ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my gosh, let me address the second question first, AGH is what I’m thinking right now. It’s 5:16 AM and I was just sitting here sorting out my Saturday which also includes a birthday party for the two little girls. It can be crazy overwhelming at times (hence why I’m thinking about it at 5:00 AM on Wednesday!). I do my best but this weekend, my parents are meeting me at volleyball so that I can leave and go to soccer (and they can stay and finish watching) bc andrew will be at baseball. Some weekends, it’s all hands on deck!
Now, the first question, I used the tanning drops on my face (love them so much!) but one of the Dr. Dennis Gross body wipes that I’ve talked about a million times before on my body!!
Becky says
A good show to try is Inventing Anna on Netflix!
Sheaffer says
I loved watching your LIVE last night, and I love the Evereve pieces! Everything is darling on you!
Peyton Cline says
Random question, but do you have a link for your new phone case/pop socket please?
Mix and Match Mama says
It was a gift. I know she bought it off of Etsy, but I don’t know from whom?
Elspeth says
I can’t wait to see where you head to for spring break! Enjoy the family time!

SS says
So I think you meant season 4 of Mrs. Maisel came out. We went back and watched last one of 3 since it has been a while. So ready for #4.
If you haven’t seen Brothers & Sister’s then you have to watch!!!
We watched the trilogy of the veil on Hallmark…super cute!!!
We pray for Miss Ashby every night. Glad she has a break!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh shoot, yes!! I need to correct that!
Shelly says
Oh how seeing Smith on the mound brings back memories! Seems like forever ago since my boys were that young and just getting started.
Carrie says
I’m with Sheaffer. Brothers & Sisters is a great show! The writing is so good. The actors are amazing. I hope you check it out and enjoy it too.
MS says
Question about the dress…how bodycon is it? Curious if you are wearing an XS or S in the photo and whether you had to hem.
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m wearing an xs in the dress and it’s slim but not too tight. I have room in there for sure!
Kristine says
You HAVE to watch season 2 of Love is Blind on Netflix! And we just started 1883…I mean Faith Hill AND Tim McGraw?! Yes, please! ?
Kristen says
Omg, brothers and sisters is the best eve!!!
Erika Slaughter says
The weather is not cooperating today for all those cute warm weather pieces! Give me all the layers today! EEEK!!
Paula R. says
What a great post!
I absolutely love your podcast and look forward to chores more than ever now…since I can listen to you and Erika break down various topics.
You gals are doing a great job with the podcast. Sometimes life is so heavy that I need something happy to listen to. You gals deliver EVERY time. I hope to listen to your 90s podcast today.
I must say that I had forgotten about the series “Brothers and Sisters,” until I heard you mention it on the podcast-I think. I got season 1 through the library and have been watching it with my elderly mom, who lives with us. I love the show, but I must say I forgot how “spicy” it was and that it has mature content and shows occasional skin for sure. From one mom to another…I might suggest watching it by yourself rather than when your kiddos are around. I love shows featuring large family dynamics! Thus-“Parenthood!” I’m so drawn to that since I have one sibling. Have a great day, Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh Paula, thank you!! I’m so happy you are listening along with us!!!
DANIELLE K RIGG says
1883. It will explain how Yellowstone started. They are having a season two of 1883. Then doing a 1923.
Whitney says
Those sensors are genius! I was telling my husband that I’m terrified of a water leak in our house(that we just bought 4 months ago). This will definitely help calm that fear.
Mix and Match Mama says
They are such a lifesaver! Seriously, you can sprinkle just the tiniest amount of water on them and they’ll go off.
Whitney says
Definitely sounds like it’ll calm my fears…so I just bought them. Thanks for the recommendation!
Bev says
I love the dress on you, especially in olive! I love neutrals and olive is my fave, great color for you! ?
Karen says
I loved seeing you on the Evereve live last night with Heidi!
Jennibell says
Brothers and Sisters, definitely start with that!!!!
I watched it years and years ago and am contemplating watching it again, instead of starting something new. I think you’ll love it.
Holly says
Definitely start with Mrs Maisel — they’re only releasing 2 episodes per week. And if you haven’t seen Inventing Anna yet, definitely check it out!!
Nichole says
Watch Brothers & Sisters! It is so so so good.
Kate says
Here to tell you to do what Sheaffer Told You To and watch Brothers & Sisters. I know I don’t actually “know” you, but I can tell you that it is right up your alley and you will love it!
Chrissy says
Good line up of shows for you! I have one more, my hubby and I just finished binging Reacher. So, so good. I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy a shoot em up, but I also didn’t think I would love a show about cooking meth…
Rosemary Davis says
Great post!
We love both Yellowstone and 1883 at our house!
And I love your dress!

Lisa says
i watched Brothers & Sisters when it was on reg. tv. It is such a good show, i was so sad when it ended. Now i need to go binge that again!
Ali J. says
If you haven’t watched Sweet Magnolias – I highly recommend it. I’m also watching Inventing Anna which is a true story. I actually stopped at episode 5 so I can rewatch the first 4 episodes with my husband because now he wants to watch it. Not on a streaming service but the Janet Jackson documentary on A&E is AMAZING!! I always liked some of her music and of course having grown up and lived in Northwest Indiana, already know about the Jacksons. This was all about her and just very good!
Melanie says
Hi Shay! For the water sensors, do you have to buy the hub as well?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do not think so!
Joanne says
I am so jealous of your spring break plans! My son’s track team has practice all week long so vacation during April are discouraged. I’ll keep dreaming of summer vacation instead I guess! Brothers and Sisters is such a great show; Sally Field and her crew are great if you love a good family drama. I can’t say much about the rest as I haven’t watched them.
Kelly Davis says
Yes to the Bible recap! You were so sweet to answer some questions I asked on IG, and I am so thankful! I love it SO much, and even got my Mom hooked:-) Also, I meet with some sweet girls for Bible study weekly, and would you believe the study they selected is also by Tara-Leigh Cobble? It is on The Trinity (He is Where the Joy Is) and the two dovetail together so fabulously. And I agree, I will be doing the Bible recap again- it is fabulous and has opened up so much to me that I have missed before. Thanks for sharing on your platform- I am sure many have been equally blessed:-)
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh Kelly!! This just makes me so happy!!! It’s such a blessing to know you’re doing this study too!!
Dana P says
So much good stuff here! You did great with your live, you’re always so poised! And those sensors are genius. My parents had no idea that their washing machine had been leaking and they had to take out almost their whole first floor and have it replaced! ? We probably should order some of those STAT. Also, adding that Bible Recap to my list!
Colleen says
What are some romcoms that you recommend to watch with the kids? My girls are about your kids ages. I would love any kind of list/recommendations. Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
So many we love! You’ve Got Mail, Crazy Rich Asians, Sleepless in Seattle, Runaway Bride to name a few of our faves!
Meredith M. says
The water sensors are such a good idea. We have had two pipes burst since living in our house. Luckily both times we were home to shut off the water and deal with the flooding, but we had neighbors who had leaks while they were out of town which caused a lot of damage. After our leaks, we installed the Flo by Moen system which has the water sensors but is also connected to the water shut off. So if there is any unusual water usage or even a small leak we get alerted on our phone and receive a phone call. If we do not respond to the alert within a few minutes, our water will automatically shut off to the house. So thankful for the peace of mind especially when we are traveling or not at home!
Kacy M says
I’m watching season 2 of Cheer on Netflix!
Sara says
Yay! Brothers & Sisters needs to be your #1!!!!!!!!
Arika says
So it’s technically not 90’s (1989) but did you ever see The ‘Burbs with Tom Hanks? When you posted about Big Fat Greek Wedding the other day and asked what other movies you should rewatch, this one instantly came to mind. HILARIOUS.
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t recall that one?! Looking it up now!
Alyssa says
Hi Shay! Question about the Birkenstock sandals in your Evereve photos: how do they compare to the Tory Burch Miller sandals in both comfort and versatility? They’re both super cute, and if I’m spending $150+ on sandals, I want to make sure they’re comfy and versatile! Thanks so much! PS- those outfits look amazing on you!
Mix and Match Mama says
They both run TTS (I am wear an 8 in both). I think both are super comfy (I travel and walk miles in both, so neither are ‘not’ comfy), but I think Birks are more comfortable because the sole is so cushioned. I would say that if walking a ton and comfort are big for you, get the Birks!
Nikki says
Hi! With the Bible Recap, do you read from the one year guide AND listen to the podcast or do one or the other? Do you recommend the journal? I see it’s optional, but curious about your thoughts. Thank you!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I mostly rely on reading the recap book. That being said, when we traveled, I didn’t take the recap book, I listened to the recap episode on her podcast. Some days, when I’m getting ready to run in the morning right after I did my Bible study, I will listen to her podcast just to reiterate what I just read. You certainly do not need to do both as they cover the same material.
Danna F says
Playing catch-up here. I wanted to reach out and let you know that because of you, I am reading the Bible Recap and loving it! When you showed the book on insta, a voice said “this is what you are looking for” and I couldn’t wait to order and get it in the mail. I started second week of January and can not wait each morning to read the days reading, scriptures and listen to the podcast. Since I am a visual learner, the Youtube videos are awesome and so informative too. I have shared it with friends. My father in law passed away last September and I have always admired his ability to read the bible beginning to end. Now I am doing the same. Thank you Shay for sharing!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my goodness!! This makes me SO HAPPY!!!! I’m so excited that you’re doing it too!!
Samantha says
I am buying those water sensors right now, thank you! And I remember loving Brothers & Sisters when it was on tv!
I love your travel recaps, looking forward to it! We from the Chicago area and are headed to Arizona for our Spring Break 🙂
Amy Rittenhouse says
I’m super late to this post but I came back looking for something and reread it. Did you ever watch Ted Lasso on Apple TV? So good! It’s one where you grow to love the characters so much!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yessssss! Andrew and I are OBSESSED with Ted Lasso!!!
Amy Riddle says
I’m late to this post but BROTHERS & SISTERS is where you need to start! I’m watching 1883 now & it’s getting tough! ? but it’s still a good show. I would love to see how you organize your make up/bathroom in one of your random grab bag post! Also, you & Erika need to for sure take up tennis—eventually play a game called 105–you will be HOOKED! That’s how I got plugged in with a sweet group of friends this past year, just learning to play!
