Hey, hey Wednesday! Just in time for the snow we’re supposed to be getting here in Texas tomorrow, I’m sharing my Winter Morning Skin Routine!
You know how much I love a routine 🙂 .
I pretty much keep my makeup and beauty routine consistent all year long, buuuuut during the winter, I certainly amp up the hydration and tone down anything matte, so today I thought I’d share my every day morning essentials in case your skin is feeling a little dull and you need something to give you a bit of a boost until the warmer weather arrives.
On Monday, after I finished my morning routine, I snapped a pic…
…and then set out all of my must haves for keeping my skin hydrated and not dry this time of year…
#1 Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water: I shared this with you a few weeks ago! I love this in both the AM and PM! In the morning, instead of using a soap to wash my face, I just swipe this on my skin using a cottonball. It lightly cleanses, refreshes and hydrates without drying out my skin.
#2 Colleen Rothschild Age Renewal Serum: I’ve only mentioned this serum a million times before. It works both morning and night. It’s a super serum…it has everything you need in one pump! Apply before your daytime moisturizer! Speaking of which…
#3 Colleen Rothschild Sheer Renewal Cream: I use this year around as my daytime moisturizer. It’s not too heavy, it goes easily under makeup and it’s super hydrating without being greasy.
#4 Banana Bright Eye Cream: Well, I’ve been raving about this for over a year. I truly noticed a difference in my undereye darkness within two weeks. This is hydrating too, so my concealer doesn’t flake off in the cold winter weather.
#5 Supergoop Glow Screen: The ONLY sunscreen I use on my face! I use it year around and honestly, I think I love it the most in the winter because it’s just a big glow-y so it helps my skin not appear so dull and drab.
#6 GlamGlow Glowstarter: You guys, I’m on my third jar of this!! I’ve told you about this before, but it’s a moisturizer with the perfect amount of “glow” in it that I use as a makeup primer. I love it so much! On days when I don’t wear makeup, I still apply this over my face for just the right amount of “fresh glow”. Because this is technically a moisturizer, it’s super hydrating. Now, in December, thanks to your suggestions, I started also using the product below…I don’t typically combine them (I’ll use one or the other), but on days when my skin is really lackluster, I’ll use this first AND then add the other. Either way, you can’t go wrong. I equally love both of these products as primers.
#7 Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow is the best primer I’ve ever used. So many of you knew I loved the product above and told me to give this a try. It’s lighter than the other one and an actual primer (not moisturizer). It has just the tiniest hint of pearl/glow and so it really gives my makeup and oomph when my skin feels the wintery weather.
#8 Foundation Stick: I’ve tried a million other foundations and none of them compare. Despite the weather, no matter the season, this foundation stick is the only one I use. It blends so effortlessly into my skin, provides as much (or as little) coverage as I need and is the only one I use. I use the shade light beige.
#9 Cream Bronzer: In the winter, my creamy bronzer is all I need to add the right amount of glow…without dullness. I don’t know…this might be the sixth or seventh one I’ve purchased. I love this bronzer. It gives a little “been in the sun” look without any powders or dryness.
#10: Balm Lip Tint: I have about six of these lip tints. This one here is in retreat and one of my faves. It stays on all day, hydrates, doesn’t chap or dry out my lips…I love it!
#11 Lip Rescue Balm: The perfect pairing with the lip tint above, this one here is in nude and my favorite. It gives subtle color and major hydration for winter lips.
And of course, I add in 2 to 3 drops of my VERY FAVORITE sunless tanner (in medium) for my face about every five days or so. I use this amazing stuff almost year around (I skip it in the summer when my face is naturally more tan), and it never lets me down. I add the 2 to 3 drops at night with my nighttime moisturizer in the palm of my hand and then spread everything evenly over my face and neck up into my hairline. Simple as that!
Winter skin? No worries! I’m ready for you!
Side note, my sweatshirt, leggings, sneakers and mug all come in so many other colors. Plus, how sweet is my little necklace? The perfect easy winter outfit 😉 .
That’s it for this Wednesday! I’ll see you back here tomorrow for something extra fun! xx

I would love to be able to buy some of these items but they are sooo expensive. I can’t afford them.

You can always take my suggestions as ideas to apply to similar products that work better for you!
MS says
How do you apply the cream bronzer? Brush, beauty blender or fingertips?
Mix and Match Mama says
With my beauty blender!!
Colleen says
I just ordered a bunch of your skincare items. You introduced me to Colleen Rothschild a few years ago and I have absolutely LOVED it more than any other skin care ever. I love the smells and the results so trust you fully 🙂 Hoping my lips look as beautiful as yours do with that color!

Love reading about the skincare routine!
Just wondering what eye makeup you have been using lately? I love it!

Your skin looks amazing! I love the recs! how do you apply the foundation stick? do you use your beauty blender or a brush to spread it over your skin??
Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awww! Thank you!!!! I just swipe it all over my face and then use my Beauty Blender to buff it in. It’s so great because you can use as much or as little as you want to get the exact coloring for you.
Melanie Countryman says
Thanks for sharing the PRINT option!
You are the BEST!
Have a GREAT Day!
Lizzie says
Do you use the foundation stick as your under eye concealer too? Your skin looks great!
Mix and Match Mama says
I use tarte’s concealer under my eyes!! Thank YOU!!
Lori Sharp says
Quick side bar, you are just the cutest and I wish I could figure out how to get half your energy!
BUT this is a makeup question, HOW do you applpy the bronzer?? what brush is magic? 🙂 I bought the bronzer but I’ve not figured out the right way to apply it.
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwww! Thank you, Lori!! You are so sweet!! Okay, with the bronzer, I just add a little to where the sun hits my face (cheeks, forehead and down my chin just a bit. A little goes a long way and it’s super easy to blend in!
Stephanie says
Your brows look so good, what products do you use? Off topic…I’m the same age as you/same amount of kids and I’m noticing tons of grey hairs (yikes) recently – do you have any? Just curious how you handle that. Love your blog!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well thank you! I don’t do much…just a little brow gel and then i fill it in with a brow pencil. I was just thinking about greys yesterday!! I don’t have any yet (that I can see), but I’m sure they’re just around the corner.
Renee says
I love all the Colleen Rothschild products. They have made such a difference for my skin. What do you put on your lips at bedtime?
Mix and Match Mama says
Always, always, always the fresh sugar lip balm!
Laci Murray says
I use the same tanning drops and love them!
Cyndie says
I’m not much of a makeup person but I love reading about your makeup routine, thinking I should have one, but I don’t. ? Do you actually use all of the products #2-9 above on top of each other? I use an eye cream and a moisturizer, period. You look fabulous so maybe #2-9 would help me, but it seems like a lot of layers.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! The only ones I alternate (yet sometimes I use both) are the primer and glow moisturizer. I layer every single product in that exact order!
Cris says
“I add the 2 to 3 drops at night with my nighttime moisturizer in the palm of my hand and then spread everything evenly over my face and neck up into my hairline.” Question: Do you apply this to eyelids? Ears?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do! I just rub it all over…maybe not a ton on my ears…just whatever is leftover on my hands.
Laura says
Thanks for sharing your routine! I’m always in the market for a good eye cream and I’m intrigued by the one you shared. Would you use the same one at night or is it primarily morning since it targets brightening?
Mix and Match Mama says
I use something more thick at night, but you totally could use this at night too!
Erinn Mosher says
Love to know what you use at night for winter!!!
Kiki says
You use all these products on same day? It just seems like a very large number of creams, serums and primers. Curious.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! They all do something different though. In order: cleansing, adding vitamins (serum), moisturizing my face, moisturizing under my eyes, sunscreen (a must!), makeup primer (so my makeup stays put all day) and then, my makeup: foundation, bronzer and lips! When you break it down, each step is super important!
Krlly says
Could you do a video of how you do your morning face routine including all your makeup as well as your skincare products?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I’ve done those in the past but need to do a new one. To see my older ones, head here: https://vimeo.com/user95930327
Shannon Leyerle says
I LOVE the Hourglass foundation stick! I love the coverage and how light it feels. It’s not what I expected at all. I appreciate the recommendation!
Erika Slaughter says
Gorgeous, friend!!
Jessica says
I bought the Colleen Rothschild under eye retinol serum you listed as one of your holy grail products and love it, so I will definitely be trying some of these!
Question- do you struggle with under eye bags at all since you wake up so early? I’m considering laser or injections to address that problem now that I’m 40- I loved your breaking down Botox episode and was wondering if you and Erika have ever done anything for the eye area? A little nervous but always trust your recos! Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh, I’m sure I do but darkness seems to be my bigger problem and that banana bright cream works wonders for that. I haven’t had anything done under my eyes, but I’m certainly not opposed to it!
Becky says
I am looking for a new skin care routine for morning and night and would love to try out some Colleen Rothschild products but I’m a teacher and on a budget, what would be your absolute must haves?
Mix and Match Mama says
First, I would wait and see when they go on sale next. I feel like they’re often discounted. My very favorite would be the cleansing balm and the daytime moisturizer. You can also use it at night. Start with those two!
