Happy Wednesday, friends!
Well, with all of this Hawaii talk, I thought it was time to get to another one of your requests for 2022. This year, I had so many people ask me to do a post where I just list out all of my “favorite” things. One reader suggested I do a “If I were on a deserted island, what would I take” post, so that’s what I’m doing today.
This post is random.
This post has a lot of different categories…most not suitable for an actual deserted island.
This post is filled with all sorts of my faves 🙂 .

That’s it for this Wednesday! Make sure you head over and check out today’s TWO INGREDIENT muffin recipe in honor of our desert island post 😉 .
Peyton Cline says
This is so fun! Four foods you would take to survive!
Mix and Match Mama says
I just answered that one above!!
Emily says
What four of your recipes would you take the ingredients for?!
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhhh! I like this one. Let’s see off the top of my head, I want something Buffalo, something spicy, a creamy dip of some sorts and a sausage ball!
Erika Slaughter says
After reading through that entire post, know what I keep going back to?
You’d take the Beatles? If I go on the deserted island with you, we’re leaving that soundtrack!
Taylor says
This post was so fun! I LOVE Summer House & this weeks episode was as chaotic as it gets?
Elspeth says

Rebecca says
We were in Stowe last week and as we walked out of the ice rink the cast of Winter House was coming on to record an episode!
Mix and Match Mama says
No way?! Who was there?! That gives me all the fun feels!
Laura says
I am laughing that you’re taking a beach scented candle to a beach ?
You picked four authors, but could you pick just four books?!
Mix and Match Mama says
Why didn’t I catch that myself?! Bahahaha! That’s funny!
Julie says
I haven’t seen any of those Bravo shows! I need to get on it! Haha!! Also, the next time you go to London you need to take a side trip to Liverpool and go on a Beatles tour. We had a private tour, and it was so much fun!
Sheaffer says
I’ve never seen summer house. Let’s go to an island and binge it.
Mix and Match Mama says
Packing now…
Beth Valenta says
Such a fun post! I agree with Erika about the Beatles.

Pretty surprised you didn’t say you would take your crock pot! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Shoot! Or my air fryer!
Lori Whittington says
Top four books!? (I know it is like picking your favorite child.) LOL
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh shoot, this is hard! Agh! Let me think…okay, I’m going to say the top four fiction books that come to mind: American Dirt, Dear Edward, The Great Alone and Our Woman in Moscow. Not necessarily my all-time faves, but I immediately thought of them.
Ramsey says
Such a fun post! Can you please tell us more about the Circle E candles? I’ve never heard of them, but I may want to try them out…
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re amazing! I’ve been using them for 20+ years. They’re made in Fredericksburg, TX, and I’ve even been to their factory/store several times. They last forever and one will make your entire home smell amazing.
Kelly says
You probably already know this, but Circle E offers a 20% off your order of $100 or more with free shipping on their facebook page every month that’s usually good from around the 20th-30th. I just placed an order last night.
MelanieL says
So fun…What 4 Christmas decorations would you take?? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
My tree, my mantle garland, one of the plates with my kids’ handprints and the carolers my grandmother painted 🙂
Alison says
I hope you’ve tried the chocolate covered coconut almonds from Trader Joe’s! Those are the BEST chocolate covered almonds. They’re like bite sized almond joys. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Aren’t they delicious?! I love them too!
Donna Mason says
COSTCO’s chocolate covered almonds are AMAZING Shay. The ratio of chocolate to almond is perfection. A must try!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you for the tip!!!!
K.K. says
What about your top four flowers? (thinking Andrew might still be bringing you bouquets on your island!)
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhh…I’m not super passionate/picky about flowers. Tulips are my favorite though.
Kelly says
I loved this post! I love your blog! By the way, I made your Cheesy Ranch Tacos last night for the first time and my family LOVED them! Thank you for the recipe!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwww! Yay! I’m so happy you tried them!
Andrea says
RHNYC has always been a favorite of mine, but I haven’t actually watched the last season. I was too busy to watch when it started, then I heard it was disappointing and not worth watching. What did you think?
Mix and Match Mama says
It wasn’t my favorite, but I still really enjoyed it! I hear this next season is going to be really good!
Robin says
Shay!! I love the Office Ladies Podcast, too!! I don’t know what I’m going to do when it ends. =)
Mix and Match Mama says
I hope they branch off and do something else!! They’re so good together!
Jamie S. says
Can you believe I’ve never seen Bridget Jones’s Diary?! Literally just googled how to stream it and I’m watching it RIGHT NOW!! She’s currently belting out Celine Dion on the couch, I’m in! LOL
Mix and Match Mama says
SHE IS MY FAVORITE!!!!!! She’s so endearing!
Sarah Madsen says
Two words.
Summer. House.
I cannot get enough. One day at the gym, Winter House was randomly playing on the TV’s and I was captivated. I looked it up on TV guide and went home that night and immediately started binging. And now I am on the last episode of Summer House season 6 and I am going to miss it so much. I can’t get enough!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I am obsessed! I really love Luke and Carl this season!!
Sarah Madsen says
Me too! Luke is near and dear to my heart as I’m a Minnesota girl, but I am so happy for Carl and the path he is on!
Debbie Hibbert says
On this island you’re only allowed to bring four children … which four would you choose??? Loved this post!
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s hard because I really want Bowen to be there. 😉
Susan says
Love the assorted list of randomness!! Wondering if your summer plans include one of your bucket list destinations? I think I remember you saying it was a big trip.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh it is a big trip…but not “the” trip. We’ve had to postpone Kensington’s dream trip yet again. We’re going to have the best time, but we won’t be able to make it to that destination yet again.
Amanda says
If Shay Shull is going to be on a deserted island, she needs sunscreen!
Mix and Match Mama says
Dang, you’re right! And probably an umbrella too.
Elizabeth L says
I was surprised you wouldn’t bring a crockpot!!
Rachel says
I love this “what would you take on a deserted island” idea! So fun!
Dana P says
I loved this one! If you make it to Paris anytime soon, I really recommend you go to our favorite little restaurant that is in the country, near Saclay in a little town called Villiers le Bacle. The prices are decent (at least pre-Covid) and the food is amazing. It’s called La Petite Forge. I’m surprised you didn’t say French food is your favorite because we fell in love with it when we were there! I dream of going back to that restaurant one day. And if you love tulips, go to France in April! The flowers there are incredible. Or Paris in September was my favorite, too. We love Fort Worth, but boy do we miss parts about living there when I really get to thinking about it. ? On our next trip in Texas, I want to visit Circle E candles!
Erika says
This is fun! You should do the opposite, four things in each category you’re good with never seeing again ?
Mix and Match Mama says
ohhhhhhhhh! I love this idea!!!!!!!
Britt F. says
We’re looking at spending our 10th anniversary in Nantucket thanks to my love affair with Elin Hilderbrand books and I’d love to know your top recommendations for places to stay there. Thank you in advance!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well my hearts belong to The Nantucket…but there are so many great inns and small b&bs there too!
Kristy Moore says
Thank you so much for this post! I was SOOOOOO excited to cross the border into the states (here I come Montana! LOL) this past week and visited a Dollar Tree. Because you had mentioned that you would take a Beatriz William book, I had to purchase one that I found at Dollar Tree for a whopping $1.25!
Have the best weekend!
Your #1 Canadian Fan!
Mix and Match Mama says
Woohoo!!! That’s so exciting!!! I’m so happy you scored that, Kristy! Have a great weekend!
Linda says
Jeffrey Dean Morgan….SWOON….he does not get enough recognition, that is for sure! ❤
