If you’re new here, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
You guys…it’s just about to be…my least favorite month of the year.
Bahahaha!
If you listen to The Bestie Breakdown, then you hear us discuss ad nauseum the months and which ones are our favorite and which ones are our least favorite. Without fail, I always say that April is my least favorite. Listen, one of them has to be at the bottom, right?! I love March because of Spring Break and I reallllllly love May because the weather is much warmer, we can hang out by the pool, school is almost over and summer is just around the corner, but April isn’t typically my jam. That being said, my plan this month is to find things every day to love about April. I’ve declared this the year I fall in love with this little month wedged here between two of my favorite months. (Side note: August, you better watch out because you’re about to move down from 11 to 12 in my mind 😉 .)
So happy end of March to you and beginning of April to all of us. It’s going to be a great month!!!
Here we go…
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
You guys, we’ve already been firing up the grill! With a string of lovely weather lately, we’ve grilled out now the last two nights in a row. If you need some grill-inspiration, I have so many yummy and easy recipes for you HERE!
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
I am so thankful life looks different than it did 2 years ago, but this entire month, I’ve thought back about that terrible time and remembered some of the good too. I hated that my kids couldn’t go to school or that I couldn’t send people on vacations…but I LOVED all of the quiet and alone time I had with these four here. I wouldn’t go back for anything, but I have reminisced and reflected a lot on those quiet days at home, outside, doing so many things we never would have had the opportunity to do had the world looked “normal”. I’ve listened to some great podcasts lately and read a new book (review later in April!) about doing less and enjoying life more and well, that’s a lesson from two years ago that I don’t need to forget the more time moves on.
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
I don’t know what has gotten into me, but I have been “containing” things like crazy over here…
…I had my Sharpies mixed in with my other markers/highlighters/pens and realized I spent way too much time trying to find them, so I bought these two acrylic pen holders and my problem was solved.
I like to keep my sneakers by the garage and my flip flops/pool sandals in a bin by my swimsuits so that I can easily find and throw on both (and not mixed in with my ‘normal’ shoes), so…
…I bought this set of baskets…
…and my shoes/sandals are all nice and organized now!
And finally…
…I fixed up my makeup drawer too with these drawer organizers. This makes me happy now 🙂 .
One last thing I love…
…we bought all new beach towels for our house this year, and I LOVE THEM!!!! On Sunday, in between church and baseball games, we swam for about two hours and I couldn’t believe how much I loved these new towels and how ‘nice’ they felt (for the price!). They come in many other colors too!
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Busy weekends are back! The kids are happy, dirty, tired…and lovin’ it! It’s been a great start to our spring sports season!
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
Right this minute? The two loads of laundry on my bed that need to be folded and put away before I go to sleep.
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
Mix and Match Travel Agency is in our busy season! Each year from January through March, we are the busiest. Right now, I’m working on #allthetrips and doing our annual team evals to help us streamline our workflow and make sure everyone is happy and having fun at work. If you’re still thinking about your summer vacation plans, we can help! Contact us today for more information about our travel services. We are currently booking trips to Hawaii, Walt Disney World, all cruises and international destinations. We’d love to help you too!
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Someone I know has a birthday this weekend!!!
8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
Did you catch my MARCH BOOK REVIEW yesterday?! Dare I say…it was one of my best! Make sure you go back and read it HERE along with the comment section!!
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
We’re doing a little bit of work upstairs at our house…so right this minute, I’m listening to some construction noise and three chirpy dogs who don’t like the noise.
10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
My uniform this spring is simple…
Cute sweatshirt + jeans + sneakers= comfy and cute!
On Sunday after church, we had a little time to head out to the pool (we heated it). It was unseasonably warm on Sunday (almost 90!), so we took advantage of the situation. My romper is HERE. This runs TTS (I bought an xs).
Another cute short sleeve sweatshirt but this time with shorts and sandals for the win!
And these shorts are oldies but goodies…I love my top here though! The shoulders make my heart oh so happy!
Don’t forget, you can find all of my vacation outfits in ONE SPOT…
…I have so many cute finds at great prices!
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
The birthday boy wants lots of family time this weekend!
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
I’m going to plant my veggie garden, start making my homemade jam, finish up a home project, get my work life together before the kids are home for summer…all the spring things!
13: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND:
If you missed this, we added a new category to What’s Up Wednesday! Without a doubt…
…it’s this. What took me so long to buy a heated lash curler?! This is absolutely genius, and I feel silly that it took me this long to buy one!
That is it for today! If you blogged WUW today too, make sure you link up below!
I’ll see you all back here tomorrow!

If you haven’t watched The Home Edit on Netflix, you must. You’ll be organizing all the things all the time!
Lesley says
Pro tip: store your markers the with the lid end down (flip them over) so the ink stays at the right end of the marker! Life changing! Ha! 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
You know what?! I DO THAT TOO!!!! I only flipped them because the picture looked weird the other way. It 100% makes a difference!
kathy says
Can you do a tutorial with the heated lash thingy? I love a good before and after!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!!
Dena A says
This April should be a favorite as it has Holy Week and Easter in it! The reason for the our lives!
Becky says
How much does your travel agency charge? I am looking for a good travel agency to help with several trips.
Mix and Match Mama says
We do not charge any service fees for our services. We’d love to help you if we can!
Diane says
I’m with you about April this year—it’s looking like I’ll be having surgery to repair a macular hole in my left eye (cause—aging!). Ashby will be my inspiration—she is sooooo brave!, We heated our pool Sunday too and our youngest granddaughters (7,4) helped kick off the pool season. Hugs from Waco ???!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh goodness, sending you love, Diane! I hope your surgery is a huge success and your recovery not too difficult. Keep me posted!
Alison says
I’m loving all those outfits and very jealous that you guys had a warm day and even got to go swimming! Fingers crossed it happens soon for us in GA. Happy Wednesday!
Corrie Freeman says
Shay- You should read the book “Love Was Inside” by Andrew Joyner to your kids. I read it aloud to my fourth graders today and cried- it’s a poignant reminder of when we’re all inside due to Covid.
Caroline says
You have such a gorgeous glow to you! What self tanner have you been using?! I’m always looking for new tanning recs!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwww! Thank you! I think it’s still part Hawaii glow.
Nades says
April is my favorite month of the year- it is the start of baseball season! Go Astros!
Joanne says
And us northerners don’t really like March since it’s still cold and really isn’t spring yet, we don’t get a break until April but I would say that February is my least favorite month since it tends to be so cold and snowy and just feel like the longest month ever even if it is the shortest.
Carly says
What size are you wearing in the Agolde shorts just for reference?
Mix and Match Mama says
26!
