Happy What’s Up Wednesday from Mexico!
Andrew and I decided to be spontaneous (look at us?!) and spend a few days this week soaking up some sun kid-free in Mexico, so that’s what I’m doing today. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be reading by the pool eating ceviche 🙂 . Please don’t look for me.
I am blogging this week, so I’m super happy you’re here! On the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Here we go…
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
I am eating a ton of really amazing food here at Grand Velas. I look forward to each and every meal 🙂 .
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Remember when we came here last year with the Slaughters for Andrew’s 40th birthday?!
Hahahahahaha! I laugh every single time I think of our swimsuits and t-shirts.
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
Woohoo!!! My new Erin Condren Life Planner arrived right before I left! You guys, this is my 11th year in a row to use an Erin Condren planner. ELEVENTH!!!! I get asked all the time about how I stay organized, how I keep my family’s life together and my answer is always this planner here. Yes, I’m trying to start incorporating a digital calendar into my mix too, but this baby here sits on my desk every.single.day and keeps all of my dates, to do lists, important information, contacts, notes…my life is in this book.
I write down not only every date/activity, but I also add little notes and things I want to remember to each day too (kind of like a diary), I keep track of goals, I write down every single Christmas gift/birthday party idea/to do list/bill I pay…friends, I cannot stress enough…IT’S ALL IN THERE! I keep my Life Planner year after year (I have a very pretty stack of them!) because honestly, they’re basically diaries of my life now. I love them.
If you want to see how I use my calendar, keep it organized and really maximize its efficiency, check out this post from 2020 where I explain it all (with photos!) for you to better understand. Needless to say though, I was pumped when my new one arrived. I always use the Life Planners that run July to December of the following year because I like to start “fresh” in September. That being said, you can purchase her planners that run January to December too.
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Last weekend, we had soccer and baseball. It was a sports-filled weekend for the Shull fam! The weather was delightful and the kids super happy…what more could a mama want?!
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
Nothing. Summer break starts in just a few weeks. I. Am. So. Excited.
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I’m trying to get all of my ducks in a row for when the kiddos are home from school this summer. Each year, I try really hard to balance work life with “summer mom” life. I’m trying to eliminate some things on my to do list and calendar and streamline as many things as I can so that I don’t feel super overwhelmed. It’s summer! I want to enjoy it too!!
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
We have some great travels in our future this summer!!! I’m already so excited about those trips. You guys, the next time we host What’s Up Wednesday, our kids will be on summer break!! Woohoo!!!!!!
8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
My APRIL BOOK REVIEW came out on Monday! If you missed it, make sure you go back and read all about the four books I read this month. One I did not enjoy and three, I loved! I even have a self-help book in there this time for those of us who need a minute to think…and a darling chick lit book too!
…and still love it SO MUCH!! It’s just such brilliant TV!
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Right now…ocean sounds 🙂 .
10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
I am wearing so many fun vacation things this week (more on that to come!), but so far look how cute this is…
My pink slippers look oh so cute with the coziest and comfiest PJ Salvage vacation jammies!
You can find my SHORTS and TOP at Nordstrom. They’re typical PJ Salvage …suuuuuuper soft and comfy 🙂 .
And then you’ve seen several of these pieces before in my Hawaii posts, but you have to check out my shoes because I LOVE THEM…
COVERUP//BIKINI TOP//HAT//BEACH BAG//PLATFORM SANDALS
I bought the sandals in clear, but they come in so many other cute neutral colors too. I’m eyeing the white ones big time. They’re so comfy and super cute!
Also, I’ve been wearing THIS MAMA NECKLACE every day since it arrived last week. (I’m wearing it in the pic but I know it’s hard to see.) I mean…it says MAMA 😉 . It would make an excellent Mother’s Day gift or…just because you love being a mama purchase. I love that it’s adjustable to any length too.
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
We are celebrating Catherine’s birthday AND hosting the ultimate Auntie Shay and Uncle Andrew sleepover 😉 .
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
S.U.M.M.E.R.
13: WHAT IS MY NEW FAVORITE AMAZON FIND:
Ohhhhhh yesssss! All of you sports parents know what I’m talking about. We bought a new chair for games and well, it’s divine.
That is it for today! I’m off to enjoy some more sunshine!
If you blogged WUW today too, make sure you link up below!
I’ll see you all back here tomorrow!
Rebecca Jo says
I need to get one of those chairs for tennis season!!!
Erika Slaughter says
Yes-yes-yes!!! Summer, we’re ready for you!!
Amy D. says
I’m so excited for the new planners. I’ve been using EC planners since 2011. I hope you and Andrew have a wonderful vacation!
Jan Fisher says
our kids got us those outdoor chairs so we can be comfy watching all the grandkids games! They are indeed divine! SO comfy and easy to fold up and carry….no more stuffing chairs in “too small” bags! LOVE THEM!
Carol says
Needing a vacation from all the other vacations. WOW!
Mix and Match Mama says
Some perks to being a travel agent is always needing to travel 😉 .
Mae says
Just ordered the chairs- thank you for reminding me we need new ones for opening day Saturday. Have a great week.
Maddie Giamello says
Hi! Hope y’all are having so much fun! I use a paper planner too, I do some things electronically but most everything is in my paper planner. Do you travel with yours? I feel so lost without mine so I always travel with mine but it’s just another thing to pack and always so heavy so I always wonder if I should chill out and leave it at home ?
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t travel with mine, but I do take photos of it. Hahaha! For instance, right before this trip, I took a photo of this week and then a photo of next week. I just have to use paper.
Kelly Franks says
What about daily? Do you carry it with you in your purse? I’m trying to carry less in my purse based on my Chiropractor’s recommendation but I love a good paper planner!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do not. I keep it on my desk every day (because that’s where I am most of the time and especially when I’m making appointments).
Maddie Giamello says
Taking a picture of it! That’s brilliant! Idk why I never thought of that ? thank you!!
Elspeth says
What a fun roundup! Thanks so much for sharing! Enjoy the sunshine!

Shay!!! I got my Scottish Rite magazine in the mail yesterday and was so happy to see Ashby featured!! I showed my husband and was like “you know that blogger I’m always talking about?? That’s her daughter!!” Very exciting. ? Hope you’re enjoying Mexico!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwwwwwww! Sweet girl 🙂 . I’m so happy you saw it!
Lizzie says
Are you finding that the wool on the foot bed of your slipper is coming off? I went to purchase them and the reviews have lots of negative comments about them not holding up well. I figured I’d ask since you wear yours so often!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do think it wears down over time and use, but I think that’s to be expected.
Stacy C Meek says
Please keep that chair oiled. Nothing worse than sitting next to the squeaky rocker chair at the ball park! I am not proud that I can’t handle the noise, but I try to avoid sitting by the rocker chair people. I mean when your kid is pitching, it’s already stressful. 🙂 Baseball mom life!
Have a great trip!
Kelly Franks says
Best. Chairs. EVER!!!!!!
Joanne says
Enjoy your impromptu trip! It sounds wonderful.
Erinn says
Random question after the podcast today but what hampers do you use? You mentioned one in every closet! Thank you!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have a different type (some baskets, some legit hampers) that we’ve collected and grabbed over the years. They’re all different based on the shape/size of the closet space. Nothing fabulous.
Sheaffer says
Those jammies are ADORABLE!
Tessa says
We have the gci comfort pro rockers and I highly recommend them. It doesn’t have a bag to shove the chair back into, the strap is attached to the chair, has a “real” cup holder and best of all a side slot for your phone! Best investment for long days at the fields!
Abby says
Where are the white bracelets from that your wearing with your coverup on??
Mix and Match Mama says
Buda Girl!
