Hey, hey Thursday! You guys, I’m sitting here in my car waiting for Smith to finish a sports camp typing this post and checking yesterday’s blog comments and you have me CRACKING UP! You ladies are so freaking funny and so original with the naming of the blog series ideas. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your suggestions! I think we should all thank my parents for giving me a name that easily rhymes with so many other words too 😉 . I am still contemplating my series title…I’ll let you know when I pick the winner from the awesome suggestions!
Okay, Kensington and I are off to spend the day with my Grandmother, but before we “scoot” (a word my Grandmother would totally use), I have the second and final part of our Nantucket trip to share with you. If you missed PART ONE earlier this week, go back and read that one first. Have the best day, friends! xx
Last week, we had gorgeous weather and sunny skies Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, but Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we had cooler, cloudier weather. We decided that was actually the best of both worlds (some sun and some clouds)…considering it’s 4 billion degrees in Dallas right now, we’ll take anything else we can get.
After my run on Wednesday morning, I grabbed this guy again…
…and we walked to grab coffee, breakfast sandwiches and the paper again at The Hub.
After breakfast, we went back and grabbed the girls, rode bikes, and then got ready for the day. First stop…
…the most insane Bloody Mary at The Charlie Noble Restaurant for lunch. I mean, holy cow, there is lobster in there!
After lunch, we spent the day in town…
…these two 🙂 .
We stopped by one of our favorite spots, Pete’s Fish Tales and found a few more pieces for our house. As soon as they arrive (he’s shipping them), I’ll share. He’s just the nicest guy and his artwork is always so fun to bring home. You can see what we purchased last year in my Family Room Redo post.
We had to go check out all of the mega yachts in the harbor. Geez…that one there looks like a cruise ship!
I love my peeps 🙂 .
We stopped for homemade fudge!
And then…I apparently stopped taking pics. I shared some videos on Stories, but I don’t have any other photos from our day. We bought books at the bookstore, went into some of our favorite shops and eventually, cleaned up for a delicious dinner at Or, The Whale.
The next day was HUGE because…
…it was Ashby’s 10th BIRTHDAY!!!!
Awwwwwwwww! We had opened presents and celebrated the night before we left (and then last night, she had friends over to swim and eat pizza), but this girl deserves allllll the celebrations, so we partied hard on her actual birthday too. She wanted to explore, buy some more books, ride bikes and eat oysters. Check, check, check.
We had breakfast that morning at Island Kitchen, and one of the sweet servers, Vanessa, who we know from The Lobster Trap too…
…made it extra special! The whole patio sang Happy Birthday to her 😉 .
After breakfast…
…we got in our car and explored the island from end to end. We love this girl so much!
Lunch at Millie’s is one of our favorite things to do…
…that face…
…the waves at Madaket are the kids’ favorite.
How is she 10?!
Then we drove and made pit stops across the island ending at…
…Sconset 🙂 .
We had so much fun!
After exploring some more (we also headed up to Wauwinet), we finally headed back to town to bike, buy books, and clean up for Ashby’s birthday dinner…
Our girl wanted oysters…
…so oysters we had! Dinner at Cru on our last night was just what the birthday girl needed!
After dinner, we had ice cream at the Juice Bar and headed back to the hotel. I don’t have pics from Friday, but we enjoyed breakfast and then headed back home to Dallas. Until next time, Nantucket! xx

Can you blog about Nantucket every day? All the heart eyes. Question, what type of flip flops does Andrew like? Getting ready for vacation and was inspecting the man’s closet. We are in need!

So much fun! I love seeing Ashby with a book in her hand so often in your pictures- it warms this book worm’s heart! My kids know they can’t have technology at the table, but I’m a sucker for them having a picture or reading “one more chapter.”

You always capture such good family selfies! What an extra special trip for Ashby. Nantucket is exactly where I’d want to spend my birthday, too. 😉

Love these pics! And HOW is Ashby 10?!?

I can’t believe she is 10!! I can remember waiting for you to post from China! I prayed for y’all so much on that trip, and I am so in awe at God! What an awesome way to spend a special birthday!

Nantucket is never a place I had ever thought to visit but after reading your posts I think it would be fabulous. Thank you once again for sharing your life with us and giving us fabulous ideas for future vacations.

I love that you and Andrew found “your” place! Can’t wait to see more Nantucket content. My husband and I went to Cape Cod last year, but didn’t get over to Nantucket…next time! 😀 We found “our” place on the gorgeous island of Curacao. We try to get there at least once a year and we’ve even made friends with some locals! What was the best part about your trip this time?
Mix and Match Mama says
Being with my family 24/7 😉
Kayla Bruce says
How fun! Sounds like it’s time to get a house there! What do you think makes this place in particular feel so special for your family?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m not quite sure. It’s a feeling we don’t get anywhere else we go (NYC, Park City, etc). It just feels like home.
Allison says
Hi Shay, this is sorta unrelated but have you ever done trips alone? Would you have any tips for someone in their 20’s on traveling alone? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve traveled alone for business but never for pleasure, that being said, we do send singles on trips quite frequently through our agencies. You should email us! info@mixandmatchtravelagency.com

My daughter and I love Nantucket. She and I both really liked the show breakfast at Blackeyed Susan’s. Then I wanted to look thru all the treasures at the thrift store right down the street from Susan’s. We’d lounge in the grassy area at the library to read and sometimes enjoy a sandwich for lunch. After go over to Sweet Inspirations for a chocate goodie. Nice to see other people from Dallas enjoying ACK.
Thanks for posting, enjoyed it.

Happy birthday, Ashby! Where did she get her tie dye sweatshirt? My youngest loves all the tie dye (so do I to be honest!)
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s from Target!!

Awwww Ashby’s smile is just like yours in the last picture😃
