What’s Up Wednesday {August 2022}

Here’s the deal, YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS TOMORROW’S POST! 

My FAVORITE DAY OF THE YEAR will be celebrated (once again!) in a big way, so set a reminder and come on back tomorrow to see what I’m up to.

In the meantime, as always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now.  It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.

Here we go…

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

A ton of cookies!

We are cookie making machines at our house right now, so if you missed one of my easy and delicious cookie recipes lately, make sure you go back and check them out…

2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

Awwwww!  Football last fall was super fun, but football this fall is going to be exceptionally fun!  You guys, Smith will (finally) be old enough to play for his middle school’s team and bonus, his big sister…

…will get to cheer for him.

I mean…

…could someone please explain to me where these children went?!  Seriously.  They were just here.

3: WHAT I’M LOVING:

I popped into Williams-Sonoma last week and look what they have this year…GLUTEN-FREE PUMPKIN TREATS!  As much as we love making baked goods from scratch, it’s always so nice to have things like this on hand for quick entertaining, gifts, treats…and easy recipes for my kids to make when they’re wanting to be in the kitchen.  All the praise hands for the g-free finds!

4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

We’ve been diving into all the fall/beginning of year things!  Kensington has already started volleyball season at school, Ashby is several weeks into fall soccer and Friday night football is back for our high schools.  It’s a busy but very fun season.

We even had time over the weekend to snuggle up and watch Top Gun Maverick together as a fam.  That is legit the best movie I’ve seen in YEARS.

I glanced down during the volleyball game the other night and Smith’s foot is significantly larger than mine.  Dang.  Why must they get big?!

5: WHAT I’M DREADING:

6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

Hahahaha!  I’m not dreading our new season of The Bestie Breakdown, I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT IT!  I’m dreading the tech portion where Erika and I have to get our informal/bestie conversation out in podcast world.  Friends, we are working on this!!  Andrew and I disassembled our old podcasting studio (a.k.a. the kids’ craft table) in the spring because Erika and I are looking to record our episodes in a new way that makes it easier to record from the road PLUS add other people in on the conversation.  If you listen to our podcast though, you understand that neither of us are techy…so please be patient with us as we figure out a new system for recording episodes.  I’ve had to order and then return three different sets of “new” equipment this month but we’re determined to find the right way to podcast so that we can bring you all new episodes for Season 3.  Stay tuned!!!

7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

I hope you’re all ready for a little road trip because I’m about to take this show on an adventure…or two…or three…or maybe four.  I’m very pumped about my upcoming fall travels!  The best news?  Nothing I’m doing will require 8 posts to recap 😉 .

8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:

And let’s see who knows me the best…right this very minute, I have a movie going while I type this post in my office.  Name that movie!

9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

I am listening to that very movie.  Which one is it?  The first person who accurately guesses it in the comment section will win a little fall prize from me.

10: WHAT I’M WEARING:

My wardrobe is a big hodgepodge of “I wish it were fall already”.  I’m trying to wear fall-ish colors with layers while still dressing like a woman who realizes it’s hot outside…but most days, I’m either wearing a tank top and embracing the heat or some cardigan.  I don’t know.  It’s a confusing season for my wardrobe.

Also…

…I took my BODYSUIT and JEANS and added a little fall spin to them with these pieces below.  It’s not time to wear these jackets, but in case you’re already looking, they’re all priced really well…

You guys, we have a FOUR DAY WEEKEND.  Yup.  This year, our kids get not only Monday off but Friday too.  We are planning on filling it with FUN!

    When Harry met Sally? I go back and forth between that and You’ve Got Mail right now. 🙂 Also, Top Gun Maverick was incredible! I went and watched it three times and we almost never go to movies-once with my husband, then with my daughters, then finally with my son. He shipped out to boot camp a couple of weeks ago and I knew it was the perfect motivation before he left. It is such a good and inspirational movie!

    Okay now I’m dying to know what you were listening to. My first guess was going to be You’ve Got Mail but after scrolling through the comments I’m convinced it was When Harry Met Sally!
    All 5 of my kiddos are in school tomorrow so they will be excited to see all the pumpkins come out tomorrow!!
