We’re baaaaaaaaaaack!
Friends, in every sense of the word, THE BESTIES ARE BACK!
After an amazing week in Europe, we’re back home today, and after a nice long break, OUR PODCAST IS BACK TOO!
That’s right, SEASON 3, EPISODE 1 is up on your favorite podcast platform!
Today, we are BREAKING DOWN DOWN THERE.
Yuppppp….when we went back to all of listener episode suggestions, the #1 request was for us to break down being a woman. After our BIRTH EPISODE, the BIKINI EPISODE, and so much talk about hysterectomies and hormone replacement therapy, you all requested MORE. So…that’s what we’re diving into today.
Pluuuuuuuus…over the summer, I had bladder surgery.
Yup.
So, we’re breaking down that too.
You can listen to today’s episode HERE or on your favorite podcast platform (Apple, Spotify, etc).
We are so thrilled to be back on the “air” with you ladies. Missed you guys!! Loved running this morning and listening! I have questions. First, are you right back into the swing of running again? Also, I would be super curious even more than “down under” but about any other procedures you’ve had! With the aging, the being done with babies, our bodies just aren’t the same. Have you both had anything done? What has worked for you, and what hasn’t?! I never dared to ask before, but I feel so much closer to you after this episode. Hahaha!

I am right back into the swing of things! I think consistently walking every day helped keep me in my routine and made things much easier. I’m a pretty open book, but I am super sensitive to some topics my kiddos might not want me to talk about in a podcast. They didn’t care one bit about me talking about my bladder. Bahahahaha! If I haven’t addressed something in particular it means perhaps it’s coming up or it’s something my kids have asked me not to address. I’m so happy you listened!!
Beth Valenta says
Well this made my morning! I can’t wait to get home to walk and listen. Thanks lovelies! Glad you are all home safe.

Yay! So excited to listen tomorrow on my way to work!

Yay you’re back!
Comment on the menstrual cup: been using for four years. I wish I found it a long time ago!! Way less chemicals in my body. My periods are much shorter and not as bad. I tell ALL my friends with daughters to use them. They last way longer. It’s much easier, you always have it with you. Yes there’s a learning curve but it’s your own body. Don’t be afraid! I took a quiz on putacupinit.com and it suggests ones that fit you. I’ve swam in it, been on the boat, run, do Pilates, hiked Scotland, etc
Can’t recommend enough. Will never use a tampon again ever.

This! I started wearing Saalt menstrual cup 2 years ago. Best change I’ve ever made for my women stuff! I wish more people discussed and educated!

I can’t wait to hear all about Europe. Welcome home.

Curious about plastic surgery- discussing breast implant surgery with your daughters as their bodies change. I would not want my daughter to feel insecure and feel the need to enhance her bust size like me- I actually regret my surgery and want to have my implants removed. Curious how you feel/discuss this with your teen? I also had rhinoplasty, I have talked with her about that quite a bit, I wish I would have waited until my 20s to “grow into” my nose a bit before making the change. I just want my daughter to feel good about her natural self, but struggle since I know I could not wait to make “improvements”
I am having the sling surgery next month- perfect timing!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s hard being a mom, right?! At our house, we have a lot of “differences”, so we always try to talk about how God made us all really different and special…but He doesn’t make mistakes. We also talk about how it’s okay to do things that make us feel good about ourselves (dressing up, highlighting our hair, wearing sparkly clothes, exercising, drinking a lot of water…whatever it is…) as long as it doesn’t become an obsession/idol/negative in our life. I want all of my kids to have self-confidence in who God made them with the freedom to do what personally feels right to them/makes sense for them to make themselves feel like their best selves (whatever that is).
Tara says
Thank you Shay, I will keep your response in my heart when I have these conversations with my girl, and actually really spot on advice for all of us to remember. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to respond- “self confidence in who God made them with the freedom to do what personally feels right” will stay with me for a long time- thank you again!!
Taylor says
Yay I’m so glad you’re back! I have missed you both!

I loved the episode and so happy you two besties are back!

Just curious…is the male voice in the podcast “commercials/breaks” by chance Andrew Shull? It sounded familiar. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s actually John, our producer!! 🙂
Meredith M. says
So glad you girls are back! I truly feel like I’m one of the “Besties” when I listen to you ladies talk. I was laughing out loud at the comment about Andrew keeping a note on his phone with all of his pet peeves. Maybe it was mentioned in another episode, but I hadn’t heard it before. I thought I had a lot pet peeves, but don’t have a list on my phone (yet)! Haha. Thank you ladies for being vulnerable and sharing your personal experiences. I love listening along!
