Happy Wednesday, friends!
After yesterday’s SELF-TANNING ROUTINE POST, I had several DMs/emails/questions about my winter skin routine, so I decided just to make it one post today.
I’ve shared my Winter Skin Routine with you before, but I’m sharing it again since a few things are a bit updated/new.
I don’t know about you, but my skin is at its finest in July and at it’s blah-est in February. I’m anxiously awaiting springtime over here. In fact, in years past I’ve always said that April is my least favorite month, but you know what? I’m starting to think it might be February. It hasn’t been a bad month by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m kind of just over it. The weather is so fickle down here (is it going to be 32 today or 78?!), all of the stores are filled with summertime clothing already, I’m tired of my jeans and am ready for shorts and well, is it spring break yet?
April, I apologize. I have been saying you’re not my favorite month when in reality, I would love some springtime weather and flowers right now.
A-N-Y-way…I digress.
This is me…
…hello 🙂 . And I love keeping my skin hydrated and moisturized year around but especially in the wintertime.
Here is what I’m currently using…
Let me break them down for you:
#1 Cream Bronzer: In the winter, my creamy bronzer is all I need to add the right amount of glow…without dullness. I have used this tarte one for years and years, but it’s no longer in stock, so I recently purchased THIS ONE. I’ll keep you posted on what I think. I love creamy bronzer. It gives a little “been in the sun” look without any powders or dryness.
#2 Face Base: Speaking of things that are out of stock, I recently looked high and low for the hydrating primer I loved, but unfortunately, it’s nowhere to be found. When I was asking around about it, someone told me about this Face Base and as you can see, I love it. I put this on after my morning moisturizer and SPF as a “base” for my foundation. It’s so hydrating, not greasy or shimmery and keeps my makeup in place all day long. I love it so much that I don’t think I would ever go back. Speaking of my foundation…
#3 Foundation Stick: I’ve tried a million other foundations and none of them compare. Despite the weather, no matter the season, this foundation stick is the only one I use. It blends so effortlessly into my skin, provides as much (or as little) coverage as I need and is the only one I use. This is pure gold right here. I use the shade light beige.
#4 Banana Bright Eye Cream: My go to eye cream now for two years. I truly noticed a difference in my undereye darkness within two weeks. This is hydrating too, so my concealer doesn’t flake off in the cold winter weather. I love it!
#5: Extreme Recovery Cream: This is the only moisturizer I wear at night. It’s hydrating but not heavy. I can wear this in the winter and also the summer. I’ve used this one for years and anytime I’ve tried other products, I always come right back to it. It pairs perfectly with…
#6: Radiant Cleansing Balm: This is the only cleanser I use. Period. I started using this YEARS ago and haven’t looked back. Don’t believe me, just read the reviews. This removes all of my makeup without ever drying out my skin. You know that tight feeling you get after washing your face? You will not get it with this product. One tube will last me a solid 9 months. A little bit goes a long way and leaves my dry, parched winter skin hydrated.
#7: tarte Ultra Creamy Concealer: We now officially have three generations of women using this concealer. My mom uses it. I use it. Kensington uses it. I love all of the Shape Tape products, but in the wintertime when my skin leans dry, this ultra creamy version is my favorite. I always buy shade 29n. It is a cult classic for a reason!
#8: Balm Lip Tint: I have about six of these lip tints. This one here is in retreat and one of my faves (I’m wearing it in the pic above). It stays on all day, hydrates, doesn’t chap or dry out my lips…I love it! They’re like moisturizing crayons for your lips.
#9 Lip Rescue Balm: The perfect pairing with the lip tint above, this one here is in opal and also a fave (I’m also wearing it above). It gives subtle color and major hydration for winter lips.
Of course, drink a lot of water, eat your veggies and don’t pick at chapped lips or flaky skin. Those are my tips too 🙂 .
A little Winter Skin Routine for your Wednesday!
And for the millionth time, I’m wearing that Amazon sweatshirt because it feels like a snuggly hug 🙂 .
If you have a winter skin product you just LOVE, comment and share!
I’ll see you tomorrow! xx

Love skincare posts! How do you apply the Hourglass foundation stick?
Mix and Match Mama says
You can see me apply it here: https://mixandmatchmama.com/2022/09/every-day-fall-makeup/
Sara Wolf says
Shay, I just watched the video of you applying the Hourglass foundation stick and need to know more about the brush you used for blending it. Do you prefer that brush over using a beauty blender or sponge? I love the idea of a foundation stick – seems easier to apply I guess – but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Do you have a link for your foundation brush?
Mix and Match Mama says
I bought the brush about two years ago and really like it. Do I have to have it? No. I think it does a great job (the brand is Artis), but I don’t think it’s life-changing. I do use it daily though!
Sarah says
I have the Tarte cream bronzer, per your recommendation, and the brush that they say works best with it, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to use that stuff. I think maybe it’s because the brush is an awkward size and shape so I don’t feel comfortable holding it? Or maybe I’m scared of a cream?? I don’t know, but please show us how you apply. It’s a good thing no-one can see my trying to use it in the mornings or they’d have a real good laugh HA!
Mix and Match Mama says
I always use a sponge and not a brush. I put just the smallest amount on the end of my sponge and then do my cheek bones, top of my forehead down to chin (like the shape of a 3). You can see a video of me using it here: https://mixandmatchmama.com/2022/09/every-day-fall-makeup/
Becky Baustert says
Great post! Now tell us what order you put them on!
Mix and Match Mama says
Cleanse, moisturize face, eyes and then the foundation stick goes on before the creamy bronzer.

Your Radiant Skin Cleansing Balm….only a serial killer would dig it out of the jar like that. Hahahahaha! It is by far THE best balm cleanser there is. I feel like I have pretty much tried them all.
Mix and Match Mama says
I just lol!!!
Kacey says
#7+8 are some of my all time faves!! Definitely have to try #3 + 4, those sound amazing! I’m also a loyal SPF user and found a tinted one from Babo Botanicals that’s a game changer. Perfect for a no-makeup day or base for everything else =)

it’s this one, just in case you want to give it a try *Daily Sheer Fluid Mineral Tinted Sunscreen SPF50
Mix and Match Mama says
googling it right now! Thank YOU!!!
Jan says
I’m curious as to what cleanser you use in the morning and also if your mom uses the exact same products as you. I know she is a fan of the cleansing balm. I’m in her age group….well I’m older than her but a LOT older than you. I love the cleansing balm and am thinking of switching to other CR products.
Mix and Match Mama says
In the morning, I either use a little of the radiant cleanser or just warm water. It depends on what I have done/how my skin feels. My mom does use it!! She used to be a Noxzema devotee, but this changed her.
Laura says
I have checked the link for your cozy Amazon sweatshirt several times over the last week (it was on your Amazon top 10), but there is never a cream color listed. The lightest color they offer is called A-Biege. Is that the same color as you are wearing?
Also, I am so tempted to try the cleansing balm….but I am an avid foaming cleanser kind of girl. Does putting the balm on dry skin and then wiping it off really get all your eye makeup off?
Mix and Match Mama says
It is! It’s lighter in person than in that photo online. And YES!!!!! It is by far my favorite CR product and the only thing I’ve used now for YEARS to wash my face.
Kerri says
Just curious, do you use the CR face base under your eyes as well? I see there is a CR separate eye product.?? Thanks so much for these telling us about these amazing products!
Kerri says
So sorry, Shay! Meant Bobbie Brown face base!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do! I haven’t purchased the eye version, so I only use this one. I’ve already ordered my second jar!
Ashley says
Thanks so much for sharing your routine, Shay! Definitely saving this post! I love your sweatshirt from Amazon, too!

Do you use the radiant cleansing balm to remove your eye makeup too?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do!!!
