Happy happy Friday, friends!
One week from today, and it will be the official FIRST DAY OF SUMMER for the Shull family!!!
Needless to say, I’m excited 🙂 .
This week, I have my usual eclectic assortment of things to share, and as always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika.
We have a very chill weekend ahead of us which we very much appreciate over here. After the last few weeks, we are ready for some down time.
Also, don’t forget…
…we’ve had TWO new episodes out over the last few days! Make sure you check out your favorite podcast platform to listen to both!
Okay, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I’ll see you back here on Monday! xx
Woohoo!! We are officially all done with surgery #24. You guys, this one ended up being quite the beast. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but it felt really long. After seven weeks in a row of the two of us going to Dallas for pre/post-op appointments, we’re done. This girl has been poked, prodded, examined and checked way too many times lately. After the big appointment on Wednesday, we celebrated with lunch and shopping. She’s going to head out on her 10 year old trip with my parents really soon (they take each kiddo on a special vacation when they’re 10), so we needed to get her ready for that. I know I’ve said this a million times, but I’m going to say it a million more…I love, love, love everyone at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital. Ashby’s doctor is one of my favorite people EVER. He loves her so much. You can tell. He truly loves her. What a blessing to pass off your child to someone who cares as much as he and his team do.
Speaking of my children…
We’ve been celebrating Mother’s Day this week (since I was gone over the weekend)…
…and enjoying all of this GORGEOUS May weather!!! If you ever want to visit McKinney, TX, I cannot recommend May more!
Another favorite this week?
This guy…
…bahahahahaha!
Geez, I love my dad.
My dad came over on the Monday before they left to drive to Nantucket to help us pack up our storage unit. Andrew asked him if he could drive the Vespa from our house to the storage unit, and when he pulled up beside me in the parking lot, he was “driving his hog”. Bahahaha! I am a pretty good mix between both of my parents when it comes to our personalities, and for SURE, I get from my dad (who got from his mom) to make every day FUN! My dad does nothing (even if that’s just driving a Vespa 1½ miles down the road) without making it fun.
Speaking of my parents…
…on Tuesday night, my parents came over for dinner before the big move that took place at 3:00 AM later that night/early morning, and I was wearing THIS TEE. My mom said “I just put that top in my suitcase for Nantucket!”…
…and sure enough, two days later, I saw her wear it! It comes in MULTIPLE COLORS, but clearly, mom and I love the blue 🙂 .
And speaking of tops (because apparently today, I’m going to link each Fave with the phrase “and speaking of” 😉 )…
This is THE CUTEST TOP on the internet. I promise you, every single time I wear it, I get compliments! You guys it’s only $23 and also comes in so many colors!
I found my PERFECT LINEN DRESS for summer! Love, love, love this one! I wore this dress all day on Tuesday to run errands, and then, it easily transitioned into an evening school function. I love the material, the pockets, all of it! This dress comes in petite, regular and tall sizes in 8 different colors. I bought mine in xs regular. LOVE!!
I’ve had so many DMs and questions about my Nantucket necklace. You guys, I just made it on Bauble Bar’s website. I wear their custom necklaces all the time (and have for years!). I love to buy these as gifts too. They also have custom bracelets and rings too!
Just an FYI: my new favorite flavor to add into my plain coffee is the “macadamia” at Starbucks. This combo is SO delish!!!
Since this week, I shared…
…my mother-in-law’s delicious Pepperoni & Bell Pepper Pasta Salad recipe, I thought it was time to remind you…
…that I LOVE making SIMPLE & DELICIOUS PASTA SALADS!
I have 14 really easy recipes for pasta salads that you will want to try this summer. They’re great for entertaining, making ahead, simple lunches and light suppers too.
Finally…
…it’s almost summer when everything is amazing…or sometimes crazy chaotic and not fun at all (because it’s true!).
If you missed…
…my 21 KEYS TO SAVORING SUMMER post from last year, perhaps now is a great time to revisit?
Maybe I’m weird, but I don’t just “appreciate life”. I have to really be aware and present and observant and conscious about my life/my days/my simple blessings and little pleasures or else, I won’t always notice them. Summer is one of those seasons that I truly love, but I also have to truly try to stay in the moment or else, I’ll get so into my “to do” list that the days will pass my by. You can read more about MY KEYS to SAVORING SUMMER HERE!
That wraps up until week in blog world! I’m so very thankful for all of YOU!
Have a wonderful weekend! xx

Oh, I love “simple things.” I read something recently that hit home as well–we feel so guilty about saying “I sat and watched a movie” or “I took a nap” or “I sat on the patio and did nothing” There are even times I feel guilty for choosing playing a game with my kids over cleaning the house–because I am not being ‘productive’ However, if it truly brings you joy, you should not feel guilty about it. Rest has somehow been demonized. I would argue, if we don’t rest, we truly miss the meaning of life. We get lost in the ‘business’ and ‘keeping up’ that we forget that our purpose in life is not to be busy.
Deep thoughts for a Friday;-)
Have a great one, Shay!

Speaking of 🤭 savoring life, today is our oldest’s WEDDING DAY! I just told my husband last night that I’m having to be intentional in really living in the moment and not getting caught up with the details or things that might weigh us down. Its been a great exercise to practice this week and I want to remember it beyond this.
Have a great weekend, Shay!

Awe Shay thanks for sharing. Glad Ashby can put #24 behind her and look forward to her special trip.
Hug your Dad for me it has been a rough week …for me I have been missing my Dad a lot lately with Mother’s Day and graduation coming up. Just tough without him here. He was like your Dad made things fun and silly. He truly loved to make people smile…even at his expense. Lol!
Have a nice weekend relaxing. We have had beautiful weather. Our skies have actually been like milky because of wildfires in Canada. It make our sun at sunset orange. My irises are starting to bloom which makes me so happy because I split them in the fall and don’t always know where the colors will come up where, so far yellow and white and purple, yellow and white. I got them all from different family members, so I think of them..
Have a great last weekend before school it out!!

I’ve been wondering about the Nantucket necklace!! I get all my personalized jewlery from Tiny Tags which is amazing quality. Been able to wear the 14k gold necklace every day for 3 years now without any issues but when I wanted to add another necklace personalized, I just didnt want to spend the $500 and this Bauble Bar option is amazing!! Thank you for letting us know!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have so many personalized necklaces from Bauble Bar that I’ve collected over the years. They’re all fabulous!
Cindy Davis says
Do these necklaces really last and the gold doesn’t rub off ? Thanks !
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I swim in mine all the time too and they don’t fade. I spray sunscreen over them, swim in the ocean and pool…I wear them hard, and they still look good!

Loved the Simple Things paragraph! A great reminder! Continued prayers for Ashby.

I have a Vespa just like yours! Here in ID, it’s required to have a motorcycle license in order to drive a Vespa on the street. I took a class and it was SO helpful. Not only just getting used to driving a 2-wheeled vehicle, but lots of safety tips too … like what to do if a squirrel or dog run out in front of you! It’s worth the time to be safe out there! 🙂

Hey Shay! If you ever go to your country club pool with friends in the summer and have a drink? Haha, so random just wondering if that’s a normal thing for you to do or not!!
Mix and Match Mama says
During the week? No (I would drink water, iced tea or club soda). On the weekend if we’re there as a family, then yes, I would order a drink!
