Happy Monday, friends!
First, I shared OUR FAMILY ROOM, then I shared OUR KITCHEN, after that, I shared OUR BUNK ROOM, and today, I’m sharing our PRIMARY BEDROOM here on Nantucket 🙂 .
Our room is upstairs and across the hall from the kiddos. Come on in…
Now, the first thing I’d like to point out is that I took these photos the day before our new blinds arrived. I’ll share pics of those at the bottom because they were an Amazon purchase that we have really ended up loving! More on that at the end, I just wanted to acknowledge the absence of blinds in these photos.
So, here was the “before” picture…
…and now, here is the “after”…
One more “before”…
…and then a whole lot of “afters”…
The TV is on a wall-mounted stand that pulls out, so that we can pull it out and move it in front of the bed at night or we can push it back in against the wall so that it’s out of the way. Of course my pups have a bed in here too 🙂 .
So, clearly, we added the shiplap and gave the room an accent wall.
We added Sonos speakers throughout the house (they’re in the ceiling). I don’t think I’ve mentioned that before and yet again, replaced a ceiling fan.
This is Andrew’s Nantucket office. Anyone seen the movie Funny Farm? He says he feels like that sometimes when he’s sitting there working and can hear the birds chirping outside. Ha!
See that little door? Well, I made that space my little home office. Ha! I work remotely wherever I can find space/quiet/peace, but I outfitted that closet area with my camera, files, etc. More on that later.
And then under the bed…
…voila!
I keep several of these for my clothes. They come with lids, but right now, I find it much easier to use without the lids. I’ll cover my things in the off season, but now, I can just slide them out, grab what I need and slide it back under.
Speaking of my closet…
…it’s right there by our dresser.
Come on in…
I’ve told you about this for my jewelry storage and then the shoes bins before too. Both are fabulous!
…the closet is little but tidy. I need to take more pics, and I’ll try to share those later.
So, that’s our room! It’s cozy, comfy and works really well for us here!
Now, let’s chat about the blinds. We took down the original blinds and found THESE FROM AMAZON to replace them with here because the reviews were really good…
…we’ve added them to the bunk room and our room, and then loved them so much that we just ordered them for the guest bedroom and downstairs bathroom (the original ones are still up in those rooms now). If you’re looking for some updated blinds, I really can’t recommend these enough!
Okay, that wraps up my Monday. I hope you all have a great start to your week!
Here are some sources for you today:
Our contractor: the Carey Company
All white paint (walls, trim, etc): Sherwin Williams High Reflective White
The accent wall is painted Sherwin Williams Smokey Blue

It looks so good!!! Love the fresh look! Super cute!
Dana P says
It looks great! And I love seeing by our creativity with the small spaces. 👏🏼 Has it been really cold there since you got there? My friends visited when you first moved and they said they were freezing!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s been in the 60s almost every day which is a big departure from what they’re getting in Dallas right now.
Laura says
Hey Shay! What color is the accent wall? The post just says Sherwin Williams and not the paint name. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I just updated it! It’s Smokey Blue!
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
Looks SO good! I’m pretty sure I’ve said this in every comment, but I’m loving this New England coastal style of the house–it feels so relaxing and serene! One question: is the white thing on the nightstand a Hatch clock/sound machine or a diffuser?

Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you, Sarah! It’s Andrew’s alarm clock 🙂 .
Libby says
Spectacular! I’m impressed with your closet & clothing storage. Would be interested to hear about how many purses & shoes you have with you.
Lisa D says
Looks so comfortable. What is the color of your accent wall?
Could you use your guest room as an office? Or use the guest room for teenage Smith?
Mix and Match Mama says
We could use it for anything we want! It’s a nice space to have. I’m adding that accent color now! It’s SW Smokey Blue.
Ally says
Will Andrew have to travel back and forth for work at all?
Mix and Match Mama says
He is going to head back at one point for work 🙂
Laura Holmes says
Loving the Nantucket house tours! So glad you’re enjoying it. I’m wondering how you like the sheets? I’ve been looking for a new set and have been so frustrated at the costs and quality.
Mix and Match Mama says
These are the only sheets we use! I started buying them maybe 5 or 6 years ago, and they’re amazing!
Allyson says
You have a special talent of making a bed look so cozy!
Mix and Match Mama says
Lots and lots of white layers is my key! Thank YOU!
Susan L says
It’s beautiful!! I love your choice of flooring so much. So light and airy but also so warm and cozy. I have now put Nantucket on my list!! Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to see all the flowers and hydrangeas you planted.
Lindsay W says
Do you have the link for the storage under the bed?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have it linked in the blog post!
Wendy Hicks says
Loving all the pics! And I am so curious about your LITTLE door office space🤣
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s tiny! Hahaha!
Sharon says
I am so in love with the beautiful wooden floors in the before pic! So natural and stunning.
Cindi says
I love the old floors, too, but for a mountain home, not a coastal home! The new floors scream beach and look so beautiful with all of the other decor choices! Great job, Shay!
Jessica says
You’ve done a fantastic job, you’re making me want to visit Nantucket
Melissa Ann Hildreth says
Can you tell me where the blanket on the bed is from, please? It ALL looks beautiful!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s from Pottery Barn!
Melissa Ann Hildreth says
Thank you!
Anne says
Just wondering how many times Andrew has bumped his head on the ceiling 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I just lol! Probably more than he would like.
Jeanie says
It’s a cozy space! Good use of a pocket door! In our vacation house we have a primary bedroom that is about a quarter of the size of our home bedroom. We are actually quite happy in it with just a king bed, nightstands and a chair. We do have a large walk-in closet there which we had built out by California Closets so that offers along of storage. It’s always interesting to see how people make space. Young House Love moved into a teeny house and it is genius how they made space.
K.K. says
Okay, I love posts like this! You’ve done a lot with that one space!!! And okay, Shay, I’m REALLY curious about that little bitty door. I know you said you would get back to us on that, and I’m looking forward to how you made that space work like magic too. 🙂
Alison says
What a cozy space! You guys did a fantastic job of updating it and giving it such a fresh, clean vibe. Minus the screensaver on Andrew’s monitor. Ick. 😉
Lori Sharp says
Please share your blind information. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s linked at the bottom of the post 🙂 .
Paige M Wright says
Your room is amazing! I have to ask…did ya’ll get another sleep number mattress for Nantucket? I am so trying to convince my husband to get one haha!
Mix and Match Mama says
We did! We put one in our room and in the guest room!
Sheaffer says
What a transformation!!!!!!! Gosh, I love a good Before and After picture, and yours are incredible!
Shirley says
Love this whole house-it is gorgeous!! My husband is a “clock” collector and I wonder if you could please give me more info on Andrew’s alarm clock on his bedside??? Would love to order this for my husband’s birthday (August 2nd!)
Thank you so much and enjoy your Summer in your new home!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s an Echo Dot. Ha! That’s it!
Rebecca S says
Tell us more about the Sonos speakers!
Mix and Match Mama says
We have them in our home in McKinney too. If you love playing music throughout your house, it’s a great system. You can add in speakers in the ceiling/wall or they also have speakers that can sit on shelves/counters too.
hayley beck says
Does Andrew’s alarm clock wake you up or vice versa? I’m not familiar with the device on the nightstand but it looks so tech savvy and I’m curious if you hear it!
Mix and Match Mama says
It doesn’t wake me up, but I am a heavy sleeper. I’m actually surprised my own phone alarm wakes me up.
Natalie L says
Thanks Shay I’m now wanting to ditch all my bedroom furniture and copycat yours! Lol oh my word we’ve had our bedroom set for 13+ years but I have never liked furniture so much as this bedroom!! Love everything abt this room and how you added the darker shiplap wall to add some dimension. Love the kitchen too. Y’all did a great job!!
Carly Collyge says
This room is so cozy and I love the serene simplicity, but you used the space so efficiently too! Can you share the secret to how you get your duvets to be so fluffy? I’m clearly not buying the right inserts. I can never make it look magazine worthy as you do’
Mix and Match Mama says
You’re too sweet! I *sometimes* add two duvets inside the cover to give it a fluffier look, but I did not in this room. I used the duvet insert Serena and Lily recommended and it seems quite nice!
Kelly says
This makes me want to just live with so much less “stuff”. So refreshing to see how you are living , and working (!) in smaller spaces and with less things. Very inspiring, even for full time living. It will be interesting to see how you might live differently even when you return to McKinney!
sandi says
This space is so serene, which is the word I would use for the whole house. I too wondered about Andrew hitting his head as my husband is 6’5″ and would not have liked that ceiling at all!
So glad your family was able to visit.
