Happy happy SATURDAY!
It’s another edition of Shay’s Summer Saturdays!
We had a BIG day yesterday celebrating Ashby, so today, I think we *might* chill a bit. In the meantime, I have some summer fun to share to kick off your weekend.
From my Saturday to yours, sending you so much love! xx
Smith strikes again! By Day Two, he had Mades riding a bike 🙂 . They’ve been practicing…
…every day now, and she’s getting so good!
I know I said this on Thursday, but it bears repeating, I’ve been wearing Vuori on repeat over here!
I also wore this super cute short sleeve sweatshirt on Thursday (I love the sleeves and it’s on sale!!)…
…and this top here that I shared with you last week from McKinney…
So cute, right?!
I have several great Saturday sales for you this week…
I love this tote! It zips, it’s spacious, and it’s on sale!
My super cute dress here comes in so many other colors and is on sale today!
This super cute tennis dress (available in so many colors!) is on sale!
If you’re looking for a swimsuit, you can mix and match so many at Old Navy right now! They’re all priced so well!
And basically my entire summer wardrobe is on sale at J.Crew right now too 🙂 .
As you might imagine, I often get asked what my favorite Elin Hilderbrand books are and my answer is almost always these two…
…I almost always recommend The Identicals (an adorable novel about twin sisters…one living on Nantucket while the other lives on Martha’s Vineyard), and…
…The Blue Bistro which is loosely based on…
…the restaurant Galley Beach here on Nantucket which is pretty spectacular as it sits right on the beach with the most amazing sunsets.
Speaking of Nantucket…
On Tuesday night, Andrew and I had reservations at a restaurant that we’ve always wanted to try, but never had the opportunity/got around to it…
…American Seasons. You guys, IT WAS DELICIOUS!
This restaurant is just the coziest and in the most quaint little building in town where it serves seasonal fare and a changing menu. We just happened to have reservations on a night when it was chilly and raining, and the ambiance could not have been more perfect.
I had the roasted chicken and potatoes…
…and Andrew had the halibut. We shared the sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and the entire meal was perfection. I highly recommend this spot and hope we can go visit them again soon!
I know I probably sound like a broken record, but you guys, I LOVE THESE CLIENTS SO MUCH TOO!!!
I mean…
…how adorable is this family?! We have sent these four all over the world (a few times over), and with each trip (like the one they took last week to France and the Netherlands), I love them even more.
That mom might look sweet back there, but she’ll talk some baseball smack with me 😉 . She loves her Orioles and well, I don’t. Ha!
I love seeing all the photos in my texts and email from happy clients on vacation. It fills my heart with such JOY! Don’t forget, you can reach out to us HERE for more information on how we can help you get on vacation too!
Ashby told me I could use this picture. Hahaha! She is the ultimate dog whisper, and it was like Yankee was trying to hold her. Okay, we used the sweetest people to transport Poppy and Yankee here to Nantucket. We loved them and would absolutely recommend them to others. We used Pawfect Partners and you can reach out to them at joycecriscarter@yahoo.com for more information. They were TOO sweet for words!
One last little Nantucket thing, we have been staying at The Nantucket Hotel and Resort for YEARS and always enjoy their restaurant and bar, The Breeze. Whether you are staying there or not, you should totally stop in to the bar for a drink. Great atmosphere and fabulous service!
That wraps up this Saturday! I have had so many sweet emails, DMs and comments this week from all of you encouraging me/letting me know you’ve done something similar/telling me you love the Nantucket content/asking how we are/etc, and I’m beyond thankful for all of it. Here’s the deal, we have been having the best time and thoroughly love the weather, the people, the food and all of this extra family time. We’ve been outside way more than normal and spent waaaaaaay more time together. Guess what? There are pros and cons to that. Ha! We have brought a lot of goodness to Nantucket, but we also brought our same old problems and issues, and we’re living in closer quarters without a whole lot of separation. We’re having a blast, but we’re also still bickering about the same old thing. I wouldn’t change any of it though because if quarantine 2020 taught me anything it’s that a whole lot of togetherness can be excruciating and beautiful…and it’s often only for a season, so we better enjoy it. Four kids all to myself all summer long? I’m already thankful for it.
Okay, I hope you all have an amazing weekend! I’ll see you on Monday! xx

I love your new Summer Saturday series! How Sweet Eats does a cute Summer Fridays post each week too! Also, please let us know once you meet Elin Hilderbrand 😉☺️

I love the Saturday posts and Nantucket content! And you’re not gonna believe it, but the Lord has blown open all kinds of doors to lead us back to France!!!! We signed a lease yesterday and it’s been incredible to see God at work in all of it. Your adventure to Nantucket reminds me of our adventure of moving back and really does make me remember to embrace the challenge and scaries of it all!

Dana! Oh my gosh, that’s amazing!! I’m so excited for you! I’ve been praying for you this week, so thank you so much for letting me know. Wow! God is SO GOOD!

I played your summer playlist during my run and out with neighbors having a fire last night!! It’s so fun!
Okay, I’m going to ask you my random questions 😆…so with drinking, I just want to know what you do. Do you have a drink before dinner and with? Do you usually stick to a number of drinks? Does it ever affect you? When your neighbor came over for a drink on the patio, is it usually just one or a few? I ask this because I’m literally just wondering how you balance it well and I know you’re such a mindful, intentional person! Thanks Shay! Happy Saturday!
Mix and Match Mama says
All great questions, Nicole! I think my honest answer is that the older I get, the less rigid I’ve become with exercise, eating and drinking. I’m trying so hard to live more in the moment as often as I can (which is hard for a type-A gal like myself) without putting too many rules on things/expectations on myself. On that night, she brought over her cocktails and I had one. On other nights, Andrew and I will sit down and have a drink and chat after our work day before dinner and then maybe on another night, we’ll have a drink with dinner out instead or nothing at all. It really changes based on the day/event/people/circumstances/how I’m feeling. I’ve been trying hard to put less pressure on my life an instead show myself more grace. I hope this helps!
Nicole says
Yes it totally helps! I’m wondering, do you ever have three drinks? Or almost never? Thanks so much Shay!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It would be a very special occasion, not the “norm”. xoxo

I have been loving these Saturday posts! I’m so glad you have been having the best time in Nantucket! How are you balancing appointments/commitments in Texas during the summer?

We don’t have any. We have a very open calendar for a while which has been lovely 🙂 .

This was so fun to read, I’m so excited for yall! And yes, I bet the change of weather is much appreciated!!

The Identicals and The Blue Bistro! My two favorite Hilderbrand books as well. Loving these fun little Saturday posts!
Keisha Dawson says
I’m loving these Saturday posts and getting an extra glimpse into your live on Nantucket!

Your Saturday Series makes me so happy! I had to chuckle when I saw Smith running in Crocs, and they’re not even in “sports mode” (have you heard of this?). My tween has just gotten into Crocs and has told us so many things about them with a straight face that we find to be hilarious. Anyway, enjoy your weekend at your beautiful home! Love seeing all the pictures and following along!
Lyssy says
My family had a lake house growing up and it was small, didn’t have cable, and wasn’t fancy by any means, but all my favorite memories are from there! I don’t remember all the fights/bickering with my sisters we probably had, just the fun times swimming, tubing, playing volleyball, and being together.
Rebecca L Carney says
Happy, happy Saturday!!! I love this summer series, its a sweet addition to easy Saturday mornings. Also, Happy 11th Birthday to beautiful Ashby!!! Looks like she had amazing celebrations with all of her favorite people. Will continue to pray for a healthy and blessed year ahead for your girl! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend in your happy place!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh your prayers are just the BEST thing you could do for us. God bless YOU for doing that!
Darcy Sexson says
Love these types of blog pots, thanks for sharing glimpses (fun and honest) into your lives. Also – the weather there looks glorious! Haha, we live in Oregon (it’s hot here too but not like Texas).
Kaitlyn says
I love the Saturday post and as a Massachusetts gal, I love all the Nantucket content. Being that you’re on the east coast this summer, do you have plans to take any weekend trips to places like Boston, Maine, Rhode Island, the cape, etc? Can’t wait to see more of you all on the east coast!
SC says
Love these Saturday posts!!! Congrats on your new Nantucket home!!
Kathleen Latham says
Shay!!! I am loving all the Nantucket summer content! I think it’s amazing what y’all are doing and I know these memories will stay with your kids a lifetime! I have a fairly silly question but one I’ve been wondering – I know your kids are involved in all kinds of sports so I’ve been wondering if they’re missing any practices/camps/etc while y’all are there and how all that was handled! Happy Saturday!!!
-Kathleen
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re all between actual sports seasons right now, so that makes it easy. One amazing thing about McKinney is that there is always a plethora of things you can sign your kids up for…from church stuff to sports to day camps, crafts, arts, etc, so we could have stayed home and participated in some of those (like summers past), but instead, we decided to do this instead. They’ll resume all the craziness when school starts again in August.

I love these Summer Saturday posts! Hope you continue sharing your Saturdays with us!
Charmin says
How are the kids adjusting not having a pool? I know that was a large part of their summer fun! Loving the Nantucket updates. Living vicariously while living in Oklahoma.
Mix and Match Mama says
I think the neighborhood and ocean are making up for it right now 🙂 . Thank you, Charmin!! xx
Tamara R says
Oh my goodness, love this! Thank you for being the best travel agent and sending us all of those wonderful places! And at least we are aligned with our hatred of the Yankees!! GO O’S! 😘
Beth Knecht says
I can imagine living in close quarters would get hard for kids. Goodness, it can be hard for our little family of three! I’m guessing you might have to do boys and girls days where you split up or bigs vs. littles where you split for a day and then reconnect that night. Best wishes on helping everyone to get along! 😃
Kathy says
Have the best time!
Pamela says
Love getting extra blog post each week. I don’t know how you do all that you do. I love reading about your summer family fun. So do you guys have to find a new church, hair dresser, nail salon, dr for Ashby, etc while there? Have a great time and enjoy as it all goes by so fast
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you so much! Andrew and Smith found a new hair stylist (I’m just waiting until I’m back in Texas), I need to find a new nail solon (on my to-do list!), right now, we’re watching our church’s service live each week as a family and Ashby is not scheduled to see the doctor again until the fall. Should we have any issues, we have a contact here at Boston Children’s that she’s already seen.
Cathy says
I love the Saturday posts!! Enjoying all of your Nantucket posts so much!!! We went for the first time in September! We had a great time, really hoping to go back again!! What size are you wearing in the Tommy Bahama shirt? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m so happy you visited!! I bought it in xs. Have a great day!
Jaime Matherson says
random question but have you used your instant pot since the last instant pot post you did?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have used it a few times…I don’t love it.
Jennibell says
As a mom a decade ahead of you, let me encourage you and Andrew and the investment you are making in your family now will pay off in spades!! This family time/together time cannot be bought for any price and yet, I believe, one of THE most important things a family can do. I pray your summer is full and blessed and these bonds stay with all of you forever.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well goodness, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Michele says
Do each of your kids have their own bedroom, in your new house, or are they sharing a bedroom? Wasn’t sure how big your new home there was…
Julie says
I have loved your blog for years-& especially love the extra Saturday posts and all things Nantucket!! ❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing your family with me as a reader! You may have already noticed this- but the blue shirt from Nordstrom you shared from McKinney is named Ashby. It was probably intentional but I thought it was sweet to share on your sweet girl’s birthday weekend!! ❤️❤️
Mix and Match Mama says
I actually totally didn’t see that. Whoa?! How serendipitous!! Thank YOU so much for pointing it out. I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Leslie S says
The Blue Bistro is free in Kindle Unlimited – thanks for the recommendation- I loved it!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Really?! That’s even better! I love that one so much!
