Happy WEEKEND!
Thank you guys so much for stopping by to say hi!
Grab your coffee, cozy (yet light!) blanket, and settle in for some bonus Saturday content. xx
We love dining at…
…Ships Inn. 🙂
It’s both an inn and a restaurant right off Main Street on Nantucket. It’s a fine dining establishment rich in history set in a very very old and super quaint house…
…it oozes New England charm.
So, the Ships Inn is known for many delicious things, but it’s probably most famous for…
…its soufflés! Every night, the chef prepares three different flavor choices and one must put in their order along with their entree. I would say that their Grand Marnier is most famous but after several years of trying as many as we can, our family always votes for…
…for their chocolate one (even over their Nutella soufflé!). If you can’t get reservations, you can visit their very quaint bar also located downstairs in this old house for a peek at the charm.
So many great things that…
Yes please!
#1: MY FAVORITE MAKEUP BAG (I use it every single day here on Nantucket!)
#2: MY SUPER CUTE RAFFIA BEACH BAG
#3: Yes, yes, yes TO THIS AMAZING DRESS! You guys, I’ve shared it now for two years. It’s incredibly awesome especially for the price! It comes in many other colors too. It’s from Nordstrom and under $30!
#4: GAUZE TOP, yes, please!
#5: SHELL EARRINGS on repeat over here.
#6: MUSCLE SWEATSHIRT TEE (super soft!)
#8: THE VERY BEST SPORTS BRA! The sewn in liners give me life 😉 .
And a few bonus sales…
#2: RIBBED BODYSUIT
#3: STRIPED TANK
#4: STRAPPY DRESS
#6: CROCHET COVERUP
#7: ATHLETIC SHORTS
#8: BOHO SHORTS
#9: DENIM SHORTS
Well if you were here on Wednesday morning, you saw the four Shull girls leaving 🙂 .
For three summers now, we have talked about going off island to Hyannis to have lunch and shop at the mall. I know, I know, I know, but when you have three daughters, a ferry ride over to visit Sephora and Target sounds like the best time ever.
This year, I told them we could make it happen…
Andrew dropped us off and we boarded the 11:10 ferry from Nantucket to Hyannis.
It was a GORGEOUS day, so while I was a little bummed to be leaving on such a pretty day, I was really happy because pretty weather means a smooth ride over.
In line waiting to board!
We were going “against traffic” on this day which made our ferry rides really empty (which was nice!). We watched the day trippers disembarking from the vessel as we were about to board and holy cow, it looked like a clown car. I’ve never seen so many people getting off the ferry than I did on this morning. It was PACKED. We boarded right after they got off, and it was nice and empty.
Off we go!
One hour later, and we were off the boat and had walked over for lunch at The Black Cat. This restaurant is across the street from the ferry terminal and one of our favorites. I asked the girls if they wanted something “chain” (like Chick-fil-a or Chipotle or you know, something you can’t get on Nantucket like that), but they all voted for The Black Cat.
I mean, yes, please! My lunch was delish!
After we ate, we took an Uber about five minutes to…
…the mall in Hyannis.
I know, I know, I know, but they LOVED IT!
Four Shull girls in Sephora? We could have just stayed there all day. We stocked up on some things…
…popped in and out of all the stores.
Walked over to Target…
…and were back at the ferry terminal by 3:30. It was short, sweet and a really fun outing. I told Andrew that all three of them talked my ear off the entire day. I LOVED IT!
The ferry ride back was also nice and calm too. Mades was reading her book and thought it was hilarious that her Dork Diaries character had a blog. 😉
I watched…
…the replay of the previous night’s Red Sox game on the ride back and sipped my coffee. Spoiler alert, I enjoyed the game much more the second time around because I knew we had won 😉 .
We got off the boat at 5:15 with a few extra goodies and a lot of sweet memories.
Speaking of memories…
…look at this clients making memories in Santiago, Chile! They were on a wine tour.
They also shopped for handmade leather goods…
…and took in all the amazing food, wine and scenery. We chatted all things BUCKET LIST this week! I hope you let us help you get on a bucket list vacation too. Contact us today for more information. From cruises to Disney vacation planning, international spots, and Hawaii, we want to help you make memories too.
Now, this week’s giveaway is near and dear to my heart.
As you know, just about every single day, I wear…
…a necklace from Lola Company that I always buy here on Nantucket from a store called Love Shack.
I love these pendants and would love to gift one to one of you!
One lucky winner will receive a $200 gift card to purchase their own Love Shack pendant.

Have a great summer everyone!

Marybeth says
Shay: Thank you so much for all you do! I don’t know how this CT reader found you more than 10 years ago, but I’m glad I did! I always appreciate your blog. I have thought about purchasing a pendant from Lola & Co. for my daughter many times since you mentioned having one, and I just took the plunge! And bought two! Perfect timing because she’s off to college across the country and she will love them. Thank you for the recommendation. We are Cape Codders, vacationing in Eastham every year, so these pendants being from close by Nantucket makes it extra special! I hardly have to say it, because you know it, but treasure the time with your kiddos no matter the activity because it goes so fast. Enjoy the summer! All the best to you and your family, Marybeth
Bren says
I have wondered about this often, Shay = do you have to go back to Massachusetts, have things shipped etc., or are there other areas where shopping (such as Target, etc.) is available – now I know! What a great day you and your girls had!
Stephanie Thomas says
Such a fun day with your girls!! I love any day that my 2 teenagers are chatty! I would’ve picked a day shopping in Chatham but I’m old😂
Cindi says
Your day with your girls reminded of mine at their age: nothing better than lunch and a day of shopping! They’re in their late 30’s now, but I still love treating them and it’s even better with my toddler granddaughter in tow! (And side note: I finished Maine Characters yesterday and can’t wait for your review!)
Lori R says

Mix and Match Mama says
It had a Target and a Sephora…what more could we want?! 😉
Desiree Leone says
What a fun girls day! We love that restaurant across from the ferry in Hyannis too! We usually eat there before we board the ferry–if there’s time. And I had no idea that there was a mall near the ferry! Love that! Good to know!

Hi Shay, if you haven’t already, on the other side of the marina is Tugboats and Baxter’s Boathouse restaurants. Each overlooking the water. Hyannis Center has a lot of stores, restaurants and ice cream parlors. I think you’d enjoy the walk up and down Main Street. But of course that’s if your family would like to go off Nantucket again.☀️
Tish says
That lobster roll! I ate one in the harbor in Maryland while traveling one year and it was fabulous! Makes me want to travel just for the lobster roll bc as you know, we don’t have them like that in Texas! So glad you enjoyed a day with your girls. We are down to our last 2 kids at home (we have 4) and we are soaking it up bc time flies!
Deb says
I am adding Nantucket to our bucket list. Living vicariously through you until we get there.

We didn’t see any pics of beautiful Kensington! I wish my 11 year old loved to shop as much as your girls do!!

I took many for my own “mom life” 🙂 . The older my kids get, the more they would like their privacy which I always try to respect.

Girls trip to Nantucket in September! First time, so excited!!
Kristin says
I am leaving Nantucket on June 14 and replying to your post for the day! I can’t believe you posted today on the very day I arrived…..and then sadly had to leave. It was just a day trip but it was lovely. It rained but the beauty of the island was breathtaking. I also went to Bennets Farm and Millie’s–that you mentioned. It was so ironic you posted such helpful information for me on this special day, Flag Day, as well. I have been reading your blog for about ten years and have watched your older daughter grow as I have a daughter same age. Thank you for writing and keeping it amazing yet down to earth. Appreciate that! Enjoy Nantucket! Wish I could stay longer. Savor every summer moment and memory!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwww! I’m so happy that you came to visit!!
Deb says
So much fun! Nantucket is now definitely on my bucket list – living vicariously through you and your family!

I love the summer Saturday bonus posts! Quick question… do you have a post on what you pack in your carry-on bag? Like the one you’d keep in your lap? We leave for Turks and Caicos on Monday for my daughter’s graduation trip! We are not big travelers and I would love any carry-on tips. We are lucky… it’s just a 3hr direct flight for us!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do! https://mixandmatchmama.com/2018/08/whats-in-my-carry-on-bag/

Mix and Match Mama says
100% 🙂
Lisa says
You know what’s funny? One of the things I’m most nostalgic about from growing up was going to the mall in Stamford CT with my mom and sister. I remember either shopping to spend our allowance or my favorite was Christmas shopping for family members and then we would get a pretzel (my mom and I would split an almond crusted pretzel) and we’d sit on these huge steps in the middle of the mall. It seems so trivial but spending that “girl time” with my mom and sister was SO special!!!
Beck says
Love these bonus Saturday posts! Even with busy summer days I make a point of going back and reading any posts I miss during the week. And love your generosity too. Thank you!
Heather S says
That lobster roll looks absolutely amazing! I’d be catching that boat weekly for one if I were you 🤣
WhittyWife (Lindsay) says
Yum! The Black Cat is so delicious! I’m not a lobster girl, but I love their fish/shrimp tacos.
How was the mall?? Most of our New England malls are really struggling. I was happy to see the Cape’s mall appears to be open and doing okay! 😊
Mix and Match Mama says
It was okay! It did the job 🙂 .
