Happy Thursday, friends!
Here’s the deal, today is a typical Life Lately post except…I’ve become “that lady” who goes through her camera roll and only sees pictures of…
…her dogs. Whether they’re snuggling in my office…
…or with my kids…
…or in my office some more…
…and oh look, some more. I’ve clearly reached that stage in life where my kids won’t sit still and pose for pictures, so I snap them of my dogs instead.

…these two who still find me slightly amusing and will smile 🙂 . How cute are they heading off to school?!
Speaking of cute…
…at dinner on Friday night, Ashby showed me what she’s been working on. You guys! She had an entire notepad filled with cupcake “recipes”. Like mother, like daughter.
Speaking of dinner…
…one of us brought our good attitude to the outdoor area while we waited for our table, and the other brought his “I hate this weather, why did I move to this terrible-surface of the sun-state for you twenty years ago” attitude.
On Saturday morning, I hopped out of bed and headed back to our town square to meet my friend Lauren at the McKinney Farmer’s Market. You guys, I hadn’t been in YEARS. Why? It was so much fun, I found so many great items from delicious produce to homemade gluten-free meatballs and Chinese dumplings, soap, eggs and more. I will for sure be back.
We love family game night! On Sunday night, we played games and the kids beat the parents, so we decided to be fun and treat them to milkshakes at Sonic for being the winners. I don’t know what was more exciting…having a milkshake or Dad allowing children to consume said milkshakes in the vehicle while we sat at Sonic?
And looky here…
…Miss Ashby has her braces off for a bit! Look at that beautiful smile 🙂 . We will put braces back on later, but for now, we’re soaking up the smile. Love her.
‘Tis that time of year for me to remind you to make your annual skin check appointments! You guys, I know I say this every year, BUT GO TO THE DERMATOLOGIST AND GET THOSE SKIN CHECKS! I had mine this week. This could be life-saving, friends! Do it!
Walking home from school is one of our faves. Love seeing these two after school!

…playing games and building too 🙂 .
Yesterday was our sweet Frenchie’s 6th birthday! We celebrated ALL DAY LONG. Kensington even texted me throughout the day to remind me to love on her extra since it was her birthday. I have never seen a dog and a girl love each other more. These two are just the best of friends. It’s so sweet!
And that, my friends, is a little look at life lately.

Aww… Shay I love how in love you are with your pups. We recently adopted a puppy from Aruba and although puppy stage is difficult, we are obsessed with her. We don’t have kids so allllll our pictures are of our Millie Moo lol. Enjoy the rest of your day! 😉

Love Ashby’s smile!! I love when they get them off. How much stuff did she eat that she couldn’t? Ours could wait to eat popcorn and a few chewy things!! Lol.
My phone looks like yours littles and dogs. I will tell ya especially with teen boys, they go through that don’t take a photo of me phase. Now they are out of high school”awkward” phase, I can take all the pix I want. Lol. They even pose with us. Lol. In time friend.
Tell Andrew it has been nice in Michigan. In tht upper 70s. Next week we are supposed to be a in upper 80s around 90s. My family always asks why didn’t you move to Florida…too hot for me!! Shh..right now it is 67 (waiting on rain) going to get to a balmy 72. Lol.

I know you love to tan and lay out in the sun. What do you do to make sure your skin is protected? Just curious because skin cancer runs in my family and I know you’ve had various skin “scares” that you’ve documented through the years

I do love to be outside and on the beach and by the pool and anything else I can be doing outdoors. I wear a lot of SPF each and every time. I wear SPF on my face 365 days a year and you’ll notice that I wear a ton of hats (I had one on just this morning for my morning dog walk). I know that I am still getting sun exposure though which is why I visit a fabulous dermatologist regularly for skin checks plus any other time I see something irregular, I go in too. This year, my kids are all getting skin checks as well.

You sport a beautiful tan Shay as does your whole family. There is No shame in my game because I get unintenionally tan from running outside and walking to work but, there is no “healthy tan” and as my derm tells me, if you are getting tan despite wearing SPF than you need better protection

Shay, those animals can provide more than just sweetness and fur. Our oldest grandson, after COVID, was experiencing anxiety and sadness upon going back to his university. He lives off-campus, so he got a puppy. He has completely relaxed and is back to his old self. His schedule and roommates allow him to provide care for her, they have such a bond! Those little animals can be so cathartic. He also has learned how to take care of a living thing besides himself! Just had to share!

Our youngest has a bunny… so I’m a bunny mom with a camera roll to prove it.
I second the yearly skin checks and love walking away with fun samples of high end products.
It’s a rainy 77 right now in Virginia which is a departure from high 90’s, I don’t even care that it’s raining. It was close to 100 when we moved one of our college girls back last week. Two move back tomorrow and it will be mid 80’s. You know you have reached a certain age when the weather is a real topic of conversation… menopause and summer do not mix well.

I apologize for my late posting. I too will be going for skin checks. Right now, I have poison ivy and my doctor told me to start going to see a dermatologist. My 90 year old mom sees one regularly so why aren’t I. I’ll be making my first appt. I grew up around the beach so any damage from younger years can show up later in life. Take care!
