Hey, hey, hey, it’s FRI-YAY!
You guys, I am still on a high from my time in Florida with Erika, but it is also oh so good to be home too. I hope you all had a wonderful wonderful week as well. This weekend, we have everything from our church’s Disciple Now to the high school Winter Formal. It’s going to be a full and fun few days 🙂 .
Okay, as always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing my Faves from this week. Happy Friday!
More pics and details to come, but our travel agency is so excited to officially announce that we are now offering our services to plan Universal Studios vacations too!
Over the last few years, we have been quietly dipping our toe in the training, prepping, and planning process along with sending many existing clients to Universal, but we weren’t sure we wanted to advertise this service for new business until now. Travel agencies all vary in what services they provide/how they operate, but our agency doesn’t like to cast a wide net where we don’t feel 100% adequate in creating the perfect custom (fee-free!) vacations every single time. We are so excited to kick off 2024 with this new branch of the Mix and Match Travel Agency services and hope it helps so many of you looking to visit there or looking to include a day or two at Universal along with your existing Walt Disney World vacation. Either way, we would love to connect with you for more information.
Erika and I decided to spend one day and night at Universal this week, and it did not disappoint! Along with our resort stay (we stayed at Portofino), we also purchased one of the VIP tours to give us not only a little behind the scenes look at Universal Studios but easy and fast access to all of the rides. It was a FULL and OH SO FUN day that we would love to send you all on too!
Here are a few pics to prove it (spoiler, there was SO MUCH to take in during the 12 hours that we were there, that this barely scratches the surface 😉 )…
You guys, we rode all the fun rides, we ate so much delicious food (including dinner here at Lombard’s Landing!), we laughed our heads off and truly left on a Universal Studios high!. It was just the most special day with my bestie.
If you have questions and want to connect about this vacation or any of our other vacation services (cruises, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean, Europe and more!), please reach out today. We would love to help you have a crazy good time too!
LEGGINGS//HALF ZIP SWEATSHIRT//TANK//BELT BAG//SNEAKERS (mine are sold out but this is the same style)
One last thing, I would be remiss if I didn’t share a few links because my DMs were flooded with questions about what I wore. I wore comfy layers with the cutest (on major sale!) belt bag 🙂 .
If you’re feelin’ a little FEBRUARY right now, I have found some cozy and cute additions to your outfit of the day…
…my HEART SWEATER is so cozy!! It’s so, so, so very soft! I wore it with my FAVORITE BLACK JEANS for an easy weekday outfit!
Speaking of which…
…how cute is THIS COZY HEART SWEATER too?! And both are ON SALE!! They run TTS, and I bought mine in XS.
I found this super cute PULLOVER at Old Navy while shopping with the littles. It’s light yet cozy and even though it comes in so many other colors, this color here (nectar) made me oh so happy! I bought it in xs.
And last but certainly not least…
…how adorable is THIS SWEATER from Old Navy too?! I am now Febru-ready for easy #ootd!
Last weekend, Kensington had a cheer event, so she was gone most of the weekend, and the boys were snowboarding in Colorado which meant, it was just the littles and me. We missed everyone, but boy, we just had the most fun together 🙂 . It was cold, we were cozy, and we took advantage of having an empty calendar. This was certainly one of my Faves!
Chinese takeout + a bunch of pups + Legally Blonde= the PERFECT FRIDAY NIGHT!
Love spending time with my littles!
On Saturday…
…we had lunch with Kensington and her cheer friends and then did a little shopping before stopping for Bubble Tea and then…
…we went to see Wonka (it was SO GOOD!!!!) before finishing off the night with Mexican food. Another great day for three of the Shull girls!
You guys, in November, I told you about a Bible study that I was doing that was SO GOOD! Well as soon as I finished that one, I bought this one by the same author and already LOVE IT!!! I’m only one week in, but I am already so thankful that I have it. It’s basically (in a very brief nutshell) about how we need to stop trying to be the Holy Spirit for our kids. That hit me right between the eyeballs. If you are looking for another great study on parenting, here you go. I promise you that you will not be disappointed.
I know it’s been a crazy busy week in blog world, but I want to make sure you saw two things!
First, we had our first official BOOK CLUB MEETING…
…make sure you head back to our BOOK CLUB POST if you read the book and want to chime in on your thoughts and opinions too!
Also, tomorrow is Saturday which means…
…it’s time for our SATURDAY GRATITUDES!! If you have no idea what I’m talking about (it was my dad’s idea!) make sure you read my post about it.
Tomorrow is Saturday, friends! Let’s all be grateful together!
And finally…
…if you’re looking for a very simple, light, not too sweet, just perfect winter dessert, try my CITRUS OLIVE OIL CAKE which can be made g-free (I’ve made it both ways multiple times!). It is the perfect little bite with your afternoon coffee.
I hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful weekend! Sending you so much love! See you Monday!! xx

I am one of the many who wanted links to your outfit from your trip, so THANK YOU!! Also wanted to say that you look super tan. Are you using a new self tanner or just upping the current one? Being tan is the best, isn’t it?? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m still using my tried and true tanners! I used both the face and the body one from this post here this week: https://mixandmatchmama.com/2023/02/self-tanning-routine/

Thanks, Shay!!!! 🙂

Is the Bible study applicable to parenting of all ages? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m only one week in, but yes, I think so. Even if your kiddos are younger (babies!), it should/would/could inspire you moving forward as they get older.

Does Universal make you want to read the Harry Potter series now? For your clients… ;-P
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t read the books (I just do not love fantasy), but I did watch the first movie with my kiddos in October before we went to London. I thought just watching the first movie made the Harry Potter experience so so rich!
Cait says
Shay, I don’t like Fantasy either but the Harry Potter storyline is so good! It’s much more adventure than fantasy focused in my opinion. I highly recommend!!

Looks like an amazing time! Have you and your family been to Universal Volcano Bay Water Theme Park? Will that be included with your service offerings? We’ve not been but have heard great things from others and would love to go sometime soon!
Did your girls enjoy Legally Blonde? If you asked them right now what each of their 3 favorite movies are what would they say? Always looking for new and old movies to share with mine!
Mix and Match Mama says
We will be helping clients with Volcano Bay as well! My girls love Legally Blonde! I don’t know that my answers are 100% accurate, but we always enjoy movies like The Proposal, Sweet Home Alabama, Crazy Rich Asians, You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle and New in Town too!
Carissa says
Fantastic! Thanks! And for the movie recs too 🙂

We stayed at Portofino and ate at Lombard’s last summer. So fun and great food.

Random question, but do you still take AG1? If not, how do you take pre/probiotics? Loving your posts for this year!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do! I drink it about 4 times a week (it’s easier for me to remember on week days) before my lunch. I do take a probiotic too. Thank YOU!!!
claire says
Glad to hear it! I’ve been on the fence about trying it but thinking I’ll go for it! Do you have a probiotic you recommend? I’ve been listening to Cynthia Thurlow (because of your rec) and she has been SO insightful. Thanks for answering my many questions today 😉 Happy Friday!
Mix and Match Mama says
She’s amazing!! I’ve been using Dr.’s Choice Probiotic.

We had the best time in Universal last year with our teens. Staying on site is completely worth it to get the skip the line pass. Looks like you had a wonderful time. Off to check out a few of those sweaters…

I have been a daily follower of your blog for many years now, but took a break last year from reading (aside from your book reviews that I always look forward to!)…feeling like I needed to switch things up. Well, I decided to read a few of your posts in January and have especially enjoyed your opening January post, todays, and your beautiful post on gratitude. Thank you for starting the new year off in such an authentic, cheerful and positive way!
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhh Darcy! Thank YOU! Your words mean more to me than you know. Happy Friday! xx
