Happy happy Friday, friends!
I’m sitting here all cozy on Nantucket by the fire watching Seinfeld as I type this, but by the time you read it, I’ll be heading back to Dallas. If home is where the heart is, my heart is on an island 30 miles out in the Atlantic…BUT, it’s also with the five people living in a suburb about 20 minutes north of Dallas. It’s always sweet returning home even if I was gone only a short time.
It’s Fri-Yay which means, as always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing my favorite things from the week.
Grab a coffee and settle in, it’s a fun batch of Faves this week!
Working from home on Wednesday and Thursday this week was extra special 🙂 .
There are about a million restaurants opened on Nantucket during the summer (I’ve blogged all about it HERE!), but this time of year, there are really only about three. I mean…maybe more than three, but really, not many. Thankfully, the “three” that are open are some of my favorites. Needless to say, stopping by The Charlie Noble for dinner on Wednesday night was a delicious idea.
Main Street in January.
My favorite spot in the whole wide world is right here.
I’m going to assume it’s the fact that I’m getting older (and my kids are getting older)…or maybe it’s because I’m being “influenced” by other influencers, but I just feel in my bones that this is my one life and it’s probably about halfway over already, so I should really lean into it as much as I can. As a Type-A person, I often try to micromanage the Lord and His plans and well, spoiler alert, things never go well for me when I do it. In this new season of life for me, I’m trying really hard to find as much joy as I can in the everyday. I find so much joy being outside and being here. I’m grateful for the day and a half I was able to visit. I’m grateful I’m able to share a piece of it with you here too.
Last Friday, our sweet Mades won a special award at school. Andrew and I were so excited to surprise her and show up to celebrate her. Every kiddo is different and has their own strengths and weaknesses. I would say that Mades just tries really hard. Some of my kiddos don’t have to/want to try that hard, but Madeley James just always tries her hardest. We were so proud of her!
I posted this photo on IG and it spurred on a lot of DMs about…
…MY JACKET. So, let’s discuss for a minute. I saw, loved and bought this HIT THE SLOPES FLEECE in neon coral when I saw it in store. It comes in 21 colors and even though I typically lean to neutrals, I was drawn to this punchy color to spruce up my winter. I LOVE IT! It’s so soft, it has great pockets, it runs TTS (I bought XS). It’s fabulous!
Well, I was wearing it on that day when Hannah (who works with me) asked me if I’ve seen the Amazon dupe? She showed it to me, so I decided to buy it as well to do a comparison for you…
…so cute too, right?! This “dupe” comes in 33 different colors/patterns and is also cute. Are they exactly the same, no? Is the dupe really good for a fraction of the price? Yes!
I bought it in florescent green and would say that the fit and size are the same, but the Amazon one is not as thick and the material feels less supple/cozy. I handed both to Andrew and asked him which one he thought was more expensive, and he did say the first one…so there is a difference, but I think they’re both great depending on what you’re looking for.
Speaking of things I bought in doubles…
Yup, MY TWO PIECE TRACK SET. You know I love this so much, so I bought it in a second color 🙂 . THIS TRACK SET set is soooo cozy and perfect for working from home or running errands. I bought mine in “coffee” and in black, but it comes in so many other colors too!
Another cozy find this week came in the mail…
…so I added it to my VELVET LEGGINGS (on sale!) and wore it to church!
THIS SWEATER comes in 24 different colors and is just the coziest. It was the perfect top for a winter day.
I don’t know if you’ve seen our forecast in Texas this week, but we’ve been in the 30s and we’ve been in the 70s because…
So needless to say, I’m wearing cozy sweaters, and then I’m also…
…wearing SUPER SOFT BUTTON UPS with the CUTEST SLIDES!!!
These RAFFIA SLIDES exceeded all of my expectations. I am so, so, so happy that I purchased them! They’re going to look so cute all spring (and on warm winter days 😉 ).
My favorite post of the month was this week! If you missed my JANUARY BOOK REVIEW, go back and read it along with the comment section! I promise you, this is the BEST spot for book recs on the internet!

Awwwww, well this is probably my favorite Fave this week.
Last weekend, Andrew and I had thirteen 8th grade boys spend the night at our house so that they could participate in Disciple Now at our church. THAT’S 14 FOURTEEN YEAR OLD BOYS AT MY HOUSE. And you know what? THEY WERE PRECIOUS!! Oh my word, they were all so sweet!! I mean, they ate so much. SO MUCH, but they were the sweetest, and we were so happy to have Smith and 13 of his buddies under our roof and at our church last weekend. This is such a great group of boys. I feel very, very blessed that these are Smith’s buddies.
Finally, it wouldn’t be February without a few of my favorite treats 🙂 .
Whether you’re sharing these with neighbors, friends, co-workers or just whipping them up for after school treats or a festive dessert, they’re just happy. Who doesn’t need a little happy occasionally?
You can see my VERY SIMPLE VALENTINE’S DESSERTS (including my absolutely delicious CHEX TREATS!) in ONE POST TODAY!
That wraps up my Friday! I’m headed back to McKinney right now to see my peeps.
Here’s wishing you a wonderful, wonderful winter weekend! xx

Happy Friday Shay! We are going on our first (Disney!) Cruise next month and I want to be prepared when it comes to sea sickness. I remember you saying that cruises like this don’t really bother you, but just in case I want to have something ready. What do you recommend for kids and adults. I’m worried Dramamine will make us drowsy. Thanks for the help!
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t think you need to worry one bit! You guys are going to have the BEST time! I just used Dramamine with Ginger (thanks to a blog reader suggestion) for my prop plane flight to Nantucket and it worked SO well! I wasn’t drowsy or the least bit nauseous. I really thought it worked so well! Have FUN!!!
Sara Alexander says
Thanks Shay!

So much fun packed into a short time! What fun project were you working/checking on in Nantucket?
Safe travels home!
Mix and Match Mama says
It wasn’t a fun project (I wish!). I had to meet two different sets of people at the house for maintenance/”normal” house stuff. I had the best time though!
Jen Sickle says
You look so nice and tan! Are you wearing self-tanner on your face?
Mix and Match Mama says
Always 🙂
Jen Sickle says
Do you still use Isle of Paradise on your face for tanner?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do!

Hi!! Can you link up the Gucci sneakers in the pic with Mades? They are adorable and I can’t find them online!! Thank you so much
Mix and Match Mama says
My mom got them for me for Christmas. My best guess is that she bought them at Gucci.

Love the photo of the group of teen boys! That took me back a few years when my boy, now 35 years old, was that age and he also had a great group of friends who would come over and literally clean out the cupboards and fridge of food and then go to Chipotle for a “snack”! 😊
Rebecca says
Hi! You may have blogged about this but where is your rug from? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Which one? I’ll find you the source!
Ashley says
Such a fun Friday faves post, Shay! I love that beautiful track set, and velvet leggings!! I didn’t even realize you could get velvet leggings, haha, they look great paired with that pretty sweater too!
Hope you have a wonderful Friday and upcoming weekend! 🙂

14 boys! Where did they all sleep?!!? Did they sleep? You are a brave woman!
Mix and Match Mama says
They all slept upstairs all over the place. Ha! They were so much fun!
Sheaffer says
14 BOYS? WHOAH. That’s a lot of boys. I had 8 here last year, and while they were seriously awesome, I felt like 8 was my limit! Haha!

The paragraph under your favorite spot in the world picture made me want to copy and paste it all over the place so I never forget what you wrote and how it made me feel. What a great reminder to spend our one life the very best we can. My 44th birthday is tomorrow and I’m going to the airport (pre-security) to see the full court basketball court installed ahead of the NBA All-Star game our city is hosting (Indianapolis!), I mean so weird but it’s what I want to do and we live 10 miles from the airport. One life. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Happy birthday to YOU!!! We need to embrace every single day!
Jennibell says
So funny that you say that… I literally took a screenshot of that paragraph and sent it to my husband and also sent it to a friend of mine. It is exactly what I want to say, but I’m not as good with words as Shay is. I am a decade older, so maybe starting to acknowledge/embrace this a little later, but this is the life I want to lead.
Happy birthday to you!! Hope the airport thing was fun 🙂

Hi,
I don’t think the links to the teacher gifts are correct. #9 in the photo is the gift card holder but it links to a t-shirt. And #5 links to a Mama t-shirt.
All such cute things! Love these ideas.
Mix and Match Mama says
I am so sorry about that! I’ve corrected it!
Kim Carberry says
I am glad there are still some restaurants open nearby. The main street looks so cute.
Well done to Madeley James, she sounds like such a lovely girl.
I love that you got the jacket in two colours, I do love the green one!

Safe travels, Shay!! My favorite part of the post… Smith and his friends. Such a cool experience, and I’m sure it’s great for you guys to really get to know his friends well too.
