You know how much I love to decorate for fall and the holiday season (over the top!), but when it comes to spring, I love to keep things simple and fresh. I find it oh so “spring” just to add a few little touches when changing out my home from the cozy and dark days of winter to the bright and sunny days of spring.
Here are just a few of my favorite ideas:
1: SWITCH OUT YOUR THROWS AND PILLOWS
This is the simplest way to easily take your home from one season to the next. I change out my pillows and throws with every changing season, and it always makes the entire room feel more spring/summer/fall/winter. We are “cuddle up with a blanket” people when reading books and watching TV, so this is a little detail that’s very much used and appreciated at my house.
This super soft bunny throw is under $20 and oh so cozy. The medium storage basket is the perfect way to store it next to my books and Bible.
2: WHEN IN DOUBT, ADD WHITE
From changing out your bed linens to guest towels, candles, kitchen utensils, dishes and even your soap dispenser, when in doubt, add white for a fresh feel. I like to make even my guest bath feel seasonal, and this time of year, simply adding a nice fluffy white hand towel and a spring candle is an easy way to update it.
3: BRING IN FRESH FLOWERS
You know me, I like fresh flowers on my island year around, but there is no better time to enjoy them than springtime. Every Nancy Meyers’ movie has fresh flowers reflecting the season. I always get so excited when I can find tulips to add to my kitchen counter.
4: SWAP OUT YOUR COFFEE TABLE BOOKS
This is one of my favorite tips! I love to put away the cozier/darker coffee table books and bring out the lighter ones for each season. This is a great way to easily make an old book feel “new” too because when you only pull it out once a year for seasonal use, I find that you really do use it. I swap out not only my coffee table books but my cookbooks as well. The soups and stews books are put away and the lighter fare cookbooks come out.
5: ADD TINY TOUCHES OF SEASONAL DECOR
Simple, cute little seasonal touches of Easter are a simple way to say “spring” throughout the home.
My Easter egg is the perfect pink for my office. Every time I look up from my desk, it makes me smile.
6: CHANGE OUR YOUR CANDLE SCENTS
Scents say everything to me, so I tuck away the smoky winter scents and bring out the fresh fruits and florals of spring.
Bunny hand towels and an Easter candle make the bathroom next to my office oh so spring!
7: BRING IN THE NATURAL LIGHT
This time of year, we’re already getting little peeks of longer days, so as often as I can, I open the windows and let in as much natural light as possible. I also love to keep my patio doors open on days when the weather is warm enough.
8: GIVE YOUR PANTRY A QUICK PURGE
This is a great time to go through the pantry and toss the older ingredients you just didn’t use/need/want from fall and holiday cooking and baking and replace them with items you’ll want for springtime in the kitchen. I like to have lemons, shredded coconut, a variety of nuts and cheese for my charcuterie boards, poppy seeds, and white chocolate chips stocked up for spring. Today, I’m also sharing my recipe for these easy little lemon muffins (that use olive oil!) and are delicious served with lemon curd. They’re oh so spring!
You guys, this Texas weather has been all over the place. On Saturday, the high was in the 40s and then just yesterday, we had temps in the upper 70s. As much as I love the cozy days of winter, I’m not feelin’ all the sunshine vibes. I’m ready for longer days and sunnier weather (and all of those spring sounds!). If you are too, don’t forget, use code SHIP89 for free shipping on orders over $89 and let T.J.Maxx help get your home, decor and your wardrobe refreshed for spring!
Here are a few more of my favorite online finds from T.J.Maxx for a spring refresh right now:
This GLACIER GREY BLANKET (both in full/queen and king sizes!).
This CROCHET PILLOW just screams SPRING!
If you need a fresh new 5×8 rug, I love the color palette of THIS ONE (and I love the price too!).
I bought THIS BOOK yesterday! A House By the Sea? Yes, please!
And because I just love me a basket, HERE is another one at a great price!
One last thing…
…on the 22nd of every month, we “meet” to discuss our book of the month. If you read our February book, make sure you head there to discuss. If you didn’t read our February book, then I suggest you wait until my February Book Review next week so that you don’t accidentally read spoilers (my Book Review next week will not contain spoilers). Today’s “meeting” is only for those who read the book or those who don’t mind spoilers.
That wraps up this double the fun Thursday!
Thank you again T.J.Maxx for the promo code for my readers! We are so anxious to spring into the next season with you!
I’ll see you all back here tomorrow, friends! xx

Hi Shay,
Love the Easter egg. Is made if a resin material?? It doesn’t give any description on the tj max website other than the size.
I am like you and love to change out to seasonal decor for the holidays too!!
Mix and Match Mama says
No, it’s actually like pottery. I thought it was cute online, but I was thrilled with it in person.

Completely random question…do bees, flies or BEES come in when you have your door open? It looks so nice and I would love the fresh air and sounds but…BEES. (I may have a little phobia 😂 Love your spring touches!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have never noticed a bee coming in. Great question 🙂 .
Christina Stava says
Do you have a source for your frame TV art?
Mix and Match Mama says
I have this one saved as one of my “favorites” from the Frame “art store”. It’s Dean West’s St Pete Beach Pool _2016. I find it soooo soothing.

Would love to know what paint color and finish that blue is in your bathroom. I LOVE it!!
