Right now, Erika is reading the above quote and laughing because IT IS SO ME!
Yesterday, Kensington and I flew back to Dallas for some cheer stuff this week (don’t worry, our summer on Nantucket isn’t over yet!), and I told myself all weekend, I would use the two flights (Nantucket to Washington DC and then DC to DFW) to work, work, work. We boarded, we took off, and the internet only worked about 30 minutes. Oh well, I’ll just work on the second flight. As we were making our approach into the DC airport, the pilot pulled back up and then came over the announcements to say that they just called off our landing because the airport wasn’t taking off or landing any planes because of weather, so we were heading to Pittsburgh instead.
Hmmm…that’s not good.
Thankfully, we got on a flight (standby) from Pittsburgh to DFW (praise the Lord!). Guess what though? No internet on that flight either. #lovely I’m home now, I’ve had takeout (Mexican, I’ve missed it!), showered and am in bed about to watch The Office. Clearly, the best laid plans…
I’m going to regroup and be back tomorrow. I am SO SAD to be off Nantucket, but SO HAPPY to see some of my favorite people this week while we’re in McKinney. Thank you for understanding! Traveling is always worth it but never dull ; ).
Have the best day, friends! xx

Oh wow! Hope it goes up from here! But, also, glad it doesn’t just happen to me! 🙂
Hopefully, it was good rest, play, or chat time instead.

Safe travels. Did the travel agency have a long weekend with clients stuck in airports or were you largely unscathed?
Mix and Match Mama says
We had several clients stuck, but as of yesterday, they all found their way to where they needed to be which is a huge blessing. It was a mess!

I took a screenshot of that quote and sent it to my husband bc he is the same sister! He’s actually gonna be at that restaurant with a crown and coke in hand to calm his nerves as he waits 3 hours. Haha.
Enjoy your time at home!

We were flying to Orlando with an hour and a half layover in Salt Lake City. Our flight to Orlando was delayed twice and then canceled. We can’t get out until a red eye Wednesday night. We are missing family time and time with friends that we never get to see. This is all due to Crowdstrike issue. We are making the best of our time in beautiful SLC. Praying we get out Wednesday night and we make it to a friend’s wedding on Friday.

Phew! Yep, most always worth it.
Sometimes stressful, rarely dull.

Yes! That is being “chill” for me too! LOL!!!

Doesn’t your son have summer football practice/conditioning, starting now at his school for upcoming season?
Mix and Match Mama says
It doesn’t start until the week of August 5th.
Kara says
That’s so nice. Mine has been going mon-thurs since the first week of summer. They say it’s not mandatory, but…real practice starts next week.
Allyson Cohen says
That’s wonderful your district made that schedule. We lose alot of summer flexibility with daily mandatory practices since May ( except for a two week dead period). I know sports are important to you both ( and in your community), how do you manage how many activities kids can participate in ? Family time over school activities. Any tips ? Might be a fun blog topic as I would love to hear insight from other readers at different stages of parenting
Mix and Match Mama says
Are you in Texas? Texas is governed by the UIL which has a whole lot of rules about when kids can and cannot practice all sorts of things from sports to arts, etc. I’m sure a lot of coaches would lovvvve to practice way more, but they can’t (they even have rules about how many practices they have to have before they put on helmets, etc). Lots of rules. The older my kiddos have gotten, the easier it’s been to zero in on their “one thing”. There was a time when the oldest did so many extracurriculars but then as they’ve gotten older, they’ve dedicated more time to singular activities instead of multiple. We’ve always let our kids kind of guide us (to a point). Madeley has decided she doesn’t want to return to volleyball, and Andrew and I don’t feel the desire to “make her” just because so many friends do it. She gave it two full years and now, she’s done, so she has time to try other things (she’s still excited about tennis). We’re big on family time which can certainly include watching the kids play sports, but we are not big on “doing things” just because everyone else is doing it. That always feels like a losing game to me.

Hi Shay–
This is a super random question for you. I tried calling DFW Parking, and no one could answer my question, but I’m thinking you’ll be able to….
We are new to the Dallas area, so new to flying out of DFW. We recently flew internationally (Terminal D) and have 2 upcoming international trips (again Terminal D) On the DFW website when I book parking in advance, it will only allow me to reserve Terminal A or offsite parking (Express North/Remote North) Is it possible to book Terminal D parking in advance? I very much appreciate your help. Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
You can book valet parking in advance or you can simply just pull up and park. DFW has a ton of parking, so you can absolutely just pull up to Terminal anything the day of and find a parking spot and go. No advanced reservations are needed at all to park at any of the terminals.
Katrina Walker says
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer this, Shay. This is super helpful. We moved from Houston, and reservations at IAH are imperative—both regular and valet. So far we much prefer traveling from DFW.
Mix and Match Mama says
You will not have trouble parking at DFW. DFW is huge but I personally think it is laid out SO WELL, it’s easy to get from one terminal to the next and there is plenty of parking right on site.

Thanks so much! 🙂
