Happy Monday, friends!
It’s a THREE POST MONDAY! I have a new wellness book you might want to check out below along with BACK TO SCHOOL FINDS and MEAL PLANNING MONDAY!
Three posts to kick off your week 🙂 .
Okay, so far this year, I have shared several books on health and wellness should you be inclined to dive a little deeper. We’ve discussed OUTLIVE (my very favorite book on health, wellness and longevity), THE BLUE ZONES (a fascinating look at the lives of people groups on Earth that live the longest and healthiest), and INTERMITTENT FASTING TRANSFORMATION (all about reducing the window in which you consume food). I highly, highly recommend all three of these books.
Today though, I am sharing…
…THE HORMONE FIX by Dr. Anna Cabecca.
I first heard Dr. Cabecca on the Everyday Wellness podcast as a guest of Cynthia Thurlow’s. She’s a OBGYN who is funny, direct and very passionate about women’s health. I instantly adored her and bought this book and started listening to her own podcast, The Girlfriend Doctor. If you’re looking to add another podcast to your routine, I think you’ll enjoy this one as well!
I bought this book several months ago and started it, but then for whatever reason, paused. Over the summer, I picked it back up and started it again from the beginning and last week, I finished it and really LOVED IT! Here is my takeaway from reading all of these books…I think it’s very valuable to learn from a variety of sources about health and wellness and then take and pick from each of them what’s applicable for YOU. This book has so many great nuggets about topics I’m very passionate about like HRT, stress, sleep, protein, lifting weights, etc, but it also has information about *new to me* topics like the ketogenic diet and testing your pH levels and things like that. Am I going to do those things? I don’t know, but I don’t think it hurts to read and have a better understanding of them so that I am at least knowledgeable about why/why not I want to try something.
Dr. Cabecca covers in great detail in this book trauma and its affects on us even years and years after the event(s). Her own infant son drowned in the family’s pool, and I appreciated her addressing how that event has affected her physiologically and emotionally even years later. This book includes information on diet (with specific recipes), sexual health, menopause, physical decline with age and how to prevent it…it’s written by a doctor but sounds like it’s written by your best friend.
As a layperson, I need the experts to really dumb things down for me so that I fully understand what they’re saying and why/how I should I apply it to my own life. I thought she did a great job at presenting a lot of information in an informal/friendly way.
I will, of course, include this book in this month’s book review, but since it took me many many weeks to finish (I read bits every day), I thought it deserved it’s own special post. For those of you on this health and wellness journey with me, I highly recommend it as well as her podcast The Girlfriend Doctor.
Okay, don’t forget, it’s a THREE POST MONDAY! Make sure you check out my BACK TO SCHOOL FINDS and MEAL PLANNING MONDAY!
Kensington, Smith and I are officially heading back to Texas today and getting ready for school. Andrew, Ashby, Mades and the dogs will be heading home later this week. As sad as I am that summer is officially wrapping up, I do get excited thinking about the year ahead. I am going to take tomorrow off and get my life together back in McKinney, but I will see you all back here on Wednesday.
Have the best day! If you have other health and wellness book or podcast recs, please comment and share. xx

This sounds fascinating and I love how she makes it easier to understand! Safe travels back home! Also, travel question for you, when you and your family travel internationally what do you do about cell phones and service while you are away?

We add the international plan for our phones when traveling. I think it’s $10 a day in-travel.
