Another Monday, another “thank you so much for your support, love and encouragement!”.
Seriously, THANK YOU!
My goal this week is to not need you to pray for me. Okay? 😉
Last Sunday, their last day snowboarding for Smith’s birthday, Andrew was going to sit down on the mountain with his snowboard attached to his feet (he wasn’t even doing anything) when he put his arm down in just the right/wrong spot and bam…he heard his bicep detach. So, he called me knowing it was pretty bad, and we called the doctor to see if how quickly he could get Andrew in (without his shirt on, you could see it detached…ugh!), so his flight landed around 5:00 on Monday night and they got him in first thing Tuesday morning and told him he couldn’t wait and that surgery would be Wednesday morning for both that and his elbow (an injury he got back in June but had been putting the surgery off)…and then…
…on Thursday morning, we already had Miss Ashby’s surgery scheduled, so we just did them back to back. I love, love, love her little smile here in this picture at the hospital. Look at her? She just looks like someone who is about to DOMINATE her 20th of this type of procedure, 21st surgery total and 24th time to be put under general anesthesia…all in FOUR YEARS! God blessed us in so many ways on this day. I cried twice. He knew we needed some relief and #20 was hands down our best, easiest and most peaceful (18 was our worst). He had the stars align in every possible way, and we are beyond grateful.
Okay, tomorrow, I’ll post Meal Planning Monday er Tuesday and my JANUARY BOOK REVIEW (Eeeeeeks! I think it’s going to be controversial!!!) and then (hopefully!!) proceed with normal life after that. I mean, geez, we haven’t even talked about my hysterectomy yet! That feels like another lifetime ago!!
Before I go, a HUGE thanks to the sweet people who love us dearly. My parents dropped what they were to come and help as I couldn’t take Ashby to the hospital and stay home with Andrew at the same time. They were amazing!!!! I couldn’t do without my friends either!! They were bringing food, running my kids around and even walking my dog. We love them all so much.
Happy Monday, friends! I’m so thankful for YOU too!! xo

Anytime I need my mom for something, she always agrees willingly and says that she’s ‘just doing my job’. It brings such comfort and also a goal for me – I want to be that same kind of mom as my kids grow! Glad you had your village to help get through this rough week.

So thankful your family is on the mend! My little brother (54) called me Friday that my sister has stomach cancer and the treatment plan is chemo/radiation followed by surgery. It broke my heart to hear my brother cry. Their kids are high school and college age; they’re in the Twin Cities/MN and we are far away in Waco, Tx so prayers appreciated!

You are such a strong, beautiful daughter, sister, granddaughter, wife, mother, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, niece and friend, Shay! I am so glad your village stepped in to run your household while you were supporting Andrew and Ashby! I am so thrilled #20 was the smoothest surgery so far! Ashby so deserved a break! Bless her golden heart!
Here’s to Andrew, Ashby, Kensington, Madeley and you having a health issue free month ahead and here’s to Smith and your three pups for being 100% healthy!

My husband had the bicep surgery 2 summers ago after trying to pickup a piece of plywood. It’s amazing how they do it. He was in the sling for 6 weeks and then physical therapy and then back to work. Now a year and a half later he has no issues with it. Good luck to Andrew and you of course! Lol
