You guys, I hope you’re settled in because today’s Friday Faves is EXTRA EXTRA BIG!
Not only does this post have the normal fun “faves”, but it also includes TRADER JOE’S FINDS and A GIVEAWAY!!
Plus, I woke up this morning in WALT DISNEY WORLD which only adds to my excitement/happiness/joy!
This time last year, Erika and I were selected to be in charge of the McKinney Boyd High cheerleaders’ trip to Nationals in Walt Disney World for the competition they’re having starting today. Over the last year, we have worked with the coaches, booster club, cheerleaders, the amazing parents, Varsity (who puts on the competition), and our committee to get our team, chaperones, coaches, admin and many parents out to the most magical place on Earth. Now that we’re here, the real fun can begin 🙂 .
Erika and I flew out early yesterday morning to get everything set up for our team (who arrived last night) and honestly now, the two of us just get to have so much fun watching our girls compete along with playing at the parks. You know how happy this makes us 🙂 .
Don’t forget, all of you amazing people who love all things Walt Disney World and/or who are thinking about going, my travel agency has decided to create a Disney only newsletter so that we can keep you up to date on all things WDW including discounts, park info, new rides, new food…we will simply let you know what’s going on at Disney in real time. Sign up for our free newsletter HERE to receive all of the magical fun right to your inbox.
If you would like a free quote or more details, simply fill out this quick INQUIRY HERE for more info on our Mix and Magical Disney vacations
So, that’s what I’m doing this weekend. Okay, like I said, THERE’S A GIVEAWAY in this post, so make sure you keep going.
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing my weekly faves.
Happy Friday!
Well if this doesn’t melt your heart…
…I’m not sure what will. Smith is the oldest grandson on my side of the family and as you might imagine, his five little cousins think he’s pretty darn cool. We decided to have “little guy night” last Friday, and it was so much fun that we will certainly do it again. All six of these boys had the BEST time! My brother has Isaiah and Samuel and then my cousin Brooke has Cole, Ford and Jack and well, the six of them are thick as thieves.
All five boys came over late Friday afternoon, and we spent so much time outside on the trampoline, playing basketball, walking to the park…listen, Uncle Andrew and Aunt Shay know how to run out “boy” energy 😉 .
After we were done outside, the six boys wanted to eat dinner “just them” and watch a movie on the patio…
…I snapped this pic of them all outside before we brought out the pizza. Aren’t they so cute?!
The boys also wanted to roast s’mores around our fire pit and this pic just melted me…
…how sweet are these two?!
The next morning, Andrew snapped this pic upstairs…
…memories were made, friends. Memories were made.
My grandmother called while they were all over just to tell me how much she loved going to sleep that night knowing all six of her great grandsons were together. It was a very sweet time for all.
The weather has decided to be “spring” this week on some days and winter on others, so I’m dressing all over the place…
…I wore THIS VEST to take Smith to rowing on Saturday. It’s so soft and comfy and has pockets (which I love!).
I bought it in this apricot (white) color, and Kensington liked it so much that she bought it in green!
Cozy!
Speaking of cozy…
Just a reminder about THIS CARDIGAN. I’ve shared this one before, but it’s such a good staple. It comes in 18 different color options too.
I have a few Trader Joe’s finds to share this Friday should you be heading that way this weekend…
Yes and YES! You know how much I love anything buffalo. This cheese is delicious!
I’m not sure if these are new or new to me, but I love a spicy sprout, so I bought this to stick in the oven one night. Um, DELICIOUS! Not only was this an easy addition, but it was really really good too.
This was the first time we’ve bought these and well, they were a hit. Ashby and Mades had the entire box eaten in about two days.
I know, I know, I know, I’ve shared this before, but you guys, I love me a pitted prune. I think Trader Joe’s are really really good too (not too tough).
This was my favorite find of this trip! These nuts ARE SO GOOD! Whether you add them to a charcuterie board or just enjoy them for snacking, I love them. I hope these aren’t seasonal. I would really like them to be around all year long.
This little mix is seasonal and is also delish. It’s the perfect combo and sweet and salty.
Yesssssss! I’ve share the body butter before, but now, there is a body oil, and it smells just like the Sol de Janeiro brand that is much more expensive. This is such a great bang for your buck.
I made soup for dinner this week and used this bone broth. It’s really delicious. I could just drink it alone.
If you’re lookin’ for a few yummy SUPER BOWL RECIPES this weekend, don’t forget…
…my FAVORITE FOOTBALL WATCHING SNACKS are all so easy and super delicious.
I promise, whether you’re cheering for the Chiefs of the Eagles or if you’re just there for the commercials, HERE YOU GO!
And finally, I decided it was high time to have another giveaway 🙂 .
In honor of my just wrapping up our Australian vacation recaps and currently being on vacation in Walt Disney World, this month’s giveaway is…
…TAKE ME AWAY WITH SHAY!
One lucky winner will receive some of my very favorite travel essentials 🙂 .
SLEEP MASK
MAKEUP CARRIER FOR TRAVEL

You must enter the Rafflecopter at the bottom of this post in order to be eligible to win (the Rafflecopter will randomly select the name). There is only ONE requirement on the Rafflecopter and that’s “BE A POSITIVE PART OF THE MIX AND MATCH MAMA COMMUNITY IN FEBRUARY”.
We’re all mature, supportive, encouraging women in this community, so this time, we’re going to go on the honor system. Enter your name one time in the Rafflecopter below if you plan on being a fun, active, happy part of this community this month. If you only want to be fun and active today, that’s totally cool, but to enter the giveaway, I really hope you’re planning on being engaging more than one day this month. I would love it if you’re committing to the entire month of February.
That’s it. Maybe that means you’re thoughtfully commenting on most posts or maybe that means you’re sharing an IG quote of mine, trying out a recipe, reading a new book and being a part of the discussion…whatever it means to you, I just think we are all in this together, so I’m not going to ask you to jump through any hoops for the giveaway. Simply add your entry to the Rafflecopter for your name to be entered if you’re planning on being a thoughtful part of this community this February. That’s it!
Easy as that! I will stop the giveaway and have the Rafflecopter randomly select a name at 2:00 PM CST on February 27th. I will announce the winners’ names here on my blog on February 28th.
Happy happy Friday, friends!
I hope you all have a WONDERFUL WEEKEND! I’ll see you on Monday! xx

The boy cousins sleepover is the sweetest thing! I can only imagine how much they idolize Smith and always will as he invests his time in their lives. I bet they all want to be just like him, such a great role model! 💙

Mix and Match Mama says
I knowwwwwwwww! They get big SO fast!
Sheaffer says
You know I love a good prune too. Next time you have to try the soft dried apricots! They are more like a dried prune texture than the typical dried apricot texture AND SO FREAKING GOOD.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well when Sheaffer tells me to…I do!
Michelle says
Added the sprouts to my list!
Marla says
I was literally teary-eyed reading about your “boy night.” That is a beautiful thing you and Andrew did for that group of special guys. Then the call from your grandmother just did me in completely. Just here bawling my eyes out in the best way possible on a Friday morning . Thank you for sharing!
Mandie says
Hope you have a great weekend! I have a date night with my hubby tonight that I am super excited for!
Dana P says
So, that does lead me to a question..do you like comments? I love your comment section, but I never know if it actually just gives you more work!
Also, so random…I made the most delicious little dessert treat thing recently. You just slice dates down the middle/deseed them, fill with peanut butter, drizzle your favorite melted chocolate over the top, then add a pecan to the melted chocolate and freeze them. They’re so good and satisfying! And I’m not sure, but I heard dates don’t raise your blood sugar?! Either way, I’m loving them! (Pretty sure TJs has good dates, too!)
Mix and Match Mama says
I love comments! For me, it’s the very best way for all of us to connect. I love DMs, emails and such too, but comments are for all of us, and that’s what I think makes this specific group so special. ALSO that date recipe! That sounds like something I need to make stat!
Valerie P says
Yes! These date treats are super yummy! They are a regular at my house. You really can’t beat dates, peanut butter and chocolate! Another variation I’ve made is to open up and flatten the dates on a cookie sheet so they make one solid sheet of dates. I then spread a thin layer of peanut butter on top along with some chopped nuts. Before popping them in the freezer I top them with melted chocolate of choice. Also super yummy!
Clarinda Zavala says
Good luck with competition
Amy T says
Your grandmother’s phone call made my day I can only imagine how it made you feel. God is good
Katie Compton says
Ooooh I would love to win this for our big trip in June. We are celebrating our daughter graduating HS in Turks and Caicos!! She’s our one and only and I have all the feels but I’m focusing on her joy and our pride right now. Babies don’t keep… that’s for sure!
Oh and I just pulled out your Valentine’s Day blondies recipe! I made them years ago for my family and it’s time to bring them back. Yummmm!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwwww! You guys are going to have such a special trip. What a blessing that the three of you can go somewhere so beautiful to celebrate such a big milestone. Enjoy! xx
Katie Compton says
Thank you!! We are not big travelers… due to a variety of reasons. (Which is why I soak up all your travel posts!) But we have been saving and surprised her with this trip at Christmas!! It will be her first time out of the country! I know life will begin to look different for my little family of three after she graduates high school so I am beyond grateful we can make this happen. ❤️
Jess says
Literally reading this in the Trader Joe’s parking lot waiting for it to open right now and laughing at myself while simultaneously getting hungry! 😂

Paula Hobbs says
Happy Friday, Shay!! Good luck to the girls this weekend!!!! Have so much FUN!!!!!

Gosh aren’t you the perfect person to plan that trip! And all of the TJ’s items look amazing. I am 38 weeks pregnant and like you I spend my entire pregnancy nauseous and puking daily. It’s a good thing we’re programmed to forget or else we’d never do it more than once 😉 Aside from a healthy, happy baby, I can’t wait for food and coffee to taste good again!
Diane Moore says
That picture of Smith with his little cousin surely melted this heart! What a wonderful treat for all those young boys.
Thank you for doing another generous giveaway. You always think of great gifts!!

Rachel K. says
Ah cheer comps at Disney are the best. Hope you all have a great time and the team has a great comp.
I’m always jealous of you guys having Trader Joe’s. Maybe someday ND will get one!!!
Hope your hand is healing well. Years ago I had a ton of boiling hot water from a pot of potatoes hit my stomach and it was the worst burn with massive blister so I feel your pain. It healed though just wasn’t fun for a few weeks.
Amie says
We have a new Trader Joe’s nearby, I need to plan a trip to check it out!
Hollie M says
Love that cardigan! Also hope your wrist is healing well. I did something similar a couple of winters ago – I was heating up a Panera soup in the microwave and when getting it out, spilled it all over my hand. Now I’m wondering if I should have seen a doctor for the burn as I still have a noticeable scar.
Happy Friday!
Elizabeth Maricle says
Love the TJ’s suggestions!
Sue Jones says
The closest TJ is two hours away. Sigh. But anytime I am in Nashville I love to visit it.
Have the best time in Disney World! I could visit there every year!
Kerry says
Your TJ haul looks so good. Why, oh why, can’t we have one of these where I live? I love fresh flowers and they seem to have the best for such a great price. I would have fresh flowers weekly if we did have one.
Kimberly Gray says
Oh what a fun post ! Love TJ tips, wardrobe recap and ohhh that sleepover. I cried? That’s how sweet it struck me. Also- How awesome to not only be back at Disney but to share the experience w the cheer squad! These are days that will forever be meaningful in your hearts ! 💕
Jennifer Jenkins says
What a sweet picture with all the boys! I know that makes your momma heart so proud!
Kathy says
Love all of the Trader Joe’s recommendations and I am ordering the cardigan! Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Leslie says
I noticed your hand is wrapped for the last little while. Hope you are okay!
Alyssa Norman says
Awww I was on the Poms team in High School and went to Nationals! Reading that gave me all the feels ❤️ so much fun and so many memories! Have the best time!
Kate says
Have the best weekend!!!
Jami Romano says
This is such a fun post and a great giveaway! I am so jealous of you being in Disney! So many good Trader Joe’s finds.
Genelle Pretty says
Hi Shay! Happy Friday! You have inspired me over the past few months to start doing TBR for my Bible reading, read IF Transformation, start taking supplements, and I am going to ask for a walking pad for my birthday. Thank you for your consistency in being transparent, passionate, and focusing on progress not perfection in all areas physical and spiritual. Have SO much fun and good luck to the girls!
Sharon H says
Reading about the boys’ night reminds me of when my dad would do this with the 4 grandsons (my son and his 3 boy cousins). They always had the absolute best time with him and each other. And time together wasn’t complete without Dad taking them to buy sausage and the 4 of them thinking they were pulling a fast one over on us. Memory-making times are the best gift we can give our kids.
Cris says
I love that your Grandmother is wealthy with boys! I have some very random questions: 1. When you talk about Brooke, I always wonder how you are related-through your Mom or your Dad? And is she your only cousin? We had a very small family because both of my parents only had one sibling, and I was stunned when I got married to find out that some people have dozens of cousins! 2. Do you run your slippers through the wash? Or do you just toss them when they get worn-looking? How often do you replace them? See! Random!
Mix and Match Mama says
My mom has two kids (Shay and Sean) and her only sibling has two kids (Brandon and Brooke). So my grandparents only had four grandkids, and we are very very close. Brandon has three daughters which is why his kiddos were at my house. All of the cousins are super close. Brooke and my brother also have girls too.
Julie Lienemann says
That vest…so good! The price makes it even better-Happy Friday!
Debbie says
Love the travel content and TJ recs! That body oil hasn’t been in stock in the store I visit every few months. I live 2 hours away from the closest one. A cashier there told me people living in my area have a thriving business making shopping trips for people willing to pay $50 for their shopping trip. I may need to look into that!🤣
My husband is a Disney fan for life, so I’m slowly starting to like it. We were at DW in December, and we’ll be back later this month when my daughter has a college visit in Tampa.
I have been searching your blog for Maui posts. We are planning a summer trip with our daughter who will graduate high school in May.
Mix and Match Mama says
We love Maui! What a wonderful trip!
Tonya says
Have a great time at UCA High School Nationals—it is a great experience. My daughter graduated last year, but we experienced UCa High School Nationals many times.
Eliza says
Love the cousins pics—thank Smith for letting you take/share his picture! 🙂
Every teenage boy needs a little one looking up to them.
Debbra Weber says
There is nothing better than one on one time with cousins/family! What a great get together–one they will never forget!! Have a great weekend and good luck to your cheerleaders! I’m definitely going to try the Trader Jo’s mixed nuts the next time I stop. I LOVE the Chocolate, Peanut Butter snack mix. I can’t put it down once I open it so it’s a good thing for me that one is seasonal! 🙂
Brenda says
Happy Friday! Have fun at Disney!
Amy C says
The cousin sleepover is adorable! I’m the baby of my family and always love hanging with my older cousins. My oldest is 23 years older than me, but she and I are the closest. She like a second mom, built-in friend, and older sister. Families are so fun! Have a wonderful weekend at Disney! As an Orlando resident, whenever I see you here, I think “oh Shay is nearby!” (And always remember when I met you in Norway in EPCOT) Ha 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwwww! Thank YOU, Amy! I’m actually heading back to Norway today! 😉
Elizabeth S says
Have you watched the documentary To Dye For? It can be found on Amazon Prime. It follows one families journey to learn about the dyes in our food that were harming her son. So very eye opening.
Love your blog and especially the new Wellness Wednesday and Book Review day.
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not! Thank you so much for the rec!!
Kristen says
Have a great time in Disney! Can’t wait to read the recap about it and where you stayed! Do the girls get some free time at the parks and did you have do all their passes/lightening lane passes, etc..?

Hey! I’ve asked a few places so not trying to drive you crazy just not sure where you see things the best. Do you have a good Bible you recommended for teenage boys? Also that cousin sleepover ❤️❤️
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t have one specifically for teenage boys as much as I just have a Bible that I LOVE for everyone. I love the NLT Study Bible with Commentary. You can find it on Amazon. I think it’s perfect for everyone.
Eleanor Thomas says

It’s the first time we are both leaving our two little girls for more than one night..Mama is anxious but I also know it will be good for everyone! Happy Friday!
Mix and Match Mama says
You guys are going to have THE BEST time!
Penny says
As a former librarian I have always preferred the physical copy of any book – just to hold it in my hands. I checked out the Kindle Paperwhite in your giveaway and am the closest to considering the purchase of one I have ever been … 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
The light is what really sold me…and the lightness. I love that I can pull it out in the dark or in full sun and see my book perfectly. I also love that when I’m traveling, I can bring one small thing that holds all my books. I never thought I’d be a Kindle person, but now, I can’t go back.
Jennifer Moss says
Penny – I am also a librarian and was just like you – only interested in a physical book. About 10 years ago my family took a 2 week trip to Europe with only carry-on luggage and I purchased a Kindle Paperwhite. I now use it more than a physical book. I think it is a combination of the ease of having it with me all the time, the adjustable font size (I’m 53), and the non-glare light that you can easily read at the beach or in the bed. I am a total convert.
Julia says
Love the boys’ sleepover and counting down to our trip to Orlando in the summer!
Gail says
My husband waits all year for Super Bowl and your Bacon Wrapped Smokies!! They are just so good and everyone loves them.
By the way, I have been reading your blog for 10 years and my hubby works with so many people that I knew he would never remember your name so we just call you ‘The Nordstrom Blogger’. ( you love Nordstrom clothes). He will say ‘what does the Nordstrom Blogger have to say today?’. This week I heard him on the phone saying ‘ my wife has this blogger that she loves and she gets so many tips from her’. You are famous in our house!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwwwwww! That is just so sweet!! xx
Ashlee says
What a fun giveaway it’s been so long since I regularly commented on blogs so I’ll commit to doing it this month again!!
Also can you tell me what crossbody you’re wearing on IG yesterday I think I need that for my summer trips!

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much I appreciate the content you create. Your blog is always my go-to for recipes, life style tips, and wellness, and I genuinely look forward to each new post. The boys sleepover is the cutest and fun idea! I’ll have to try the TJ’s Spicy Buffalo Cheddar, Sounds delish.
Kandi Barber says
Smith with all those littles – oh my heart, that is precious. What a special night for them and a nice break for the parents too.
Alison says
The fact that Smith also camped out to sleep with the little boys… so sweet!! I thought maybe he’d be in his room, but I counted six heads! Lol. He is one heck of a cousin to free his schedule and spend an entire evening with five little men who adore him. My son is almost 20 and the oldest on my side as well. His younger boy cousins love the holidays even more now because they get to see him since those times have been more infrequent these last two years. It sure is special!
Elizabeth Lind says
I live in San Antonio with all 6 of my siblings and the 23 cousins are besties. I love it!!

I love the boy cousins sleepover. That is so special, and awesome that Smith is a great role model to all his younger cousins!
Jennifer says
Good luck to Kensington and her team at Nationals. They will have so much fun and create so many great memories. Many many years ago I competed at the UDA Nationals with my high school dance team and look back at the time now so fondly. Will have to make a stop at TJ this weekend for those brussels sprouts. They look delicious. Also, what a wonderful giveaway! Waking up on the 28th to see my name as the winner would make my birthday (the 27th) extra special.
Reba says
Enjoy your time at WDW! After so much planning, it’ll be so nice to relax. The Trader Joe’s Brussels sprouts look so good! So do the pb&j snacks! I’m going to have to make a trip to my “local” Trader Joe’s soon (an hour away but worth it). And btw, the all boy night looks like it was a lot of fun! What great memory making!
