Woohoo, it’s FRIDAY, friends!
You guys, I am extra pumped that it’s Friday.
Last weekend, we had unseasonably cold weather and a road trip. This weekend, we have warm, sunny days ahead and nowhere to be.
My main objective this weekend is to get my veggie/herb garden cleaned out and replanted.
I’ll let you know how that goes.
In the meantime, as always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing this week’s FAVORITE THINGS!
Happy FRIDAY!
Look what arrived on my doorstep yesterday! It’s my first official copy of The France Dance!
Seeing my friends do AMAZING THINGS is always a favorite of mine.
Even though I read the manuscript over the summer, don’t worry, I will include an official review of the book in this month’s April Book Review.
In the meantime, I can’t recommend it enough. My sweet friend Lauren knocked it out of the park. A novel set in both Paris and Provence along with delicious food references, the coziest hotel, adorable characters, some suspense and a whole lot of great writing? Sign me up!
On Saturday afternoon, we took a little road trip north to Oklahoma City (about 3 hours) to watch Smith row crew.
First stop after checking into our hotel…
…walking over for a delicious steak dinner at Mahogany Prime Steakhouse.
We love road trips and steak dinners 🙂 .
The next morning, we bundled up because it was COLD for watching crew…
…there were even snow flurries during the first race.
These two are always so much fun!
Smith competed first in an 8 man boat. Clearly, they all decided to bundle over their uniforms.
After Smith’s first event, we had time before he rowed again, so Andrew and I took the girls…
…first to Bricktown Brewery for lunch and then…
…we walked through adorable Bricktown…
…until we arrived at…
…Brickopolis so that they could play games…
…they had the best time!
After that…
…we went to watch Smith row in a four man boat.
When the regatta was over, we loaded up and headed back to Dallas. It was a super fast and super fun 24 hours watching our boy in OKC.
Warm weather means I’ve been pulling out my SHORTS…
…I did an entire blog posts on shorts this week, but THIS PAIR arrived after the fact and I loved them too! The brand is Frame which means they’re pricier, but the quality is really good (and they’re comfortable too).
If you missed my “shorts” round up on Tuesday…
I loved these PAPERBAG WAIST SHORTS so much that I bought them in both colors.
THIS PAIR is simple, comfy and will be on repeat at my house.
A “DAD DISTRESSED” pair.
And…
…THIS PAIR is a pair of shorts that looks a little more skirt-ish too.
Not only is it beginning to look a lot like shorts season, but it’s also beginning to look a lot like…
…sandals season too! I’m in for the “comfy and cute” sandals. THIS PAIR come in four different color options including gold! They’re very comfortable.
Speaking of which, it was time…
…to replace my running/walking sneakers. It had been eight months and my toes were just about to show through my last pair. This time around, I bought THESE NIKES and LOVE them!
I ordered them TTS, and they fit perfectly. I wasn’t the only one who loved them either. I had them sitting by bedroom door and Kensington saw them and asked if she could wear them to school. I consider it a win that they are “cool enough” for a 10th grader.
Charlie and I have had two good walks in them. I am so happy with my Nikes!
This pic leads me to…
…another favorite this week was sharing OUR NEW FRONT DOOR with you 🙂 .
I love it so much! Thank you for the sweet feedback!
Finally…
…it wouldn’t be an Easter season without RESURRECTION ROLLS!
If you have young kiddos in your life, you need to make these STAT. Not only are they delicious, they really help kiddos understand the real meaning of Easter.
I hope you all have the best weekend! Thank you so much for being here with me this week.
I’ll see you Monday! xx

Nikes?! I haven’t bought Nike workout shoes in over a decade. They are so cute, keep us posted on your review. Also those longer Jean shorts are super cute on you.

I haven’t had them in a while either, but I literally just walked in them again for the third day in a row, and they are so so comfy!

Why is my France Dance taking it’s time arriving? I’m READY to READ!!! Amazon says TODAY is the day!
Tish says
Love the sneakers! Do you buy a half size larger when using them for walking/running?
Mix and Match Mama says
I did not for this pair, and they fit beautifully. I have on *some* pairs/brands, but on this one, I bought TTS.

Love your blog. Due to reading Outlive I had my Lpa tested and it’s crazy high, (genetics) and now I’m on meds to bring it down. I know how you love a good sale. Lilly Pullitzer is having their warehouse outlet online sale. I bought cute skits for under $10 and they have adorable sandals and espadrilles for as low at $3.99 you shop by price category and I was determined to stay under $10. I could have bought so much. Check it out.
Mix and Match Mama says
I am so happy you read Outlive and acted on it, Beverly. Good for YOU! Thank YOU for this Lilly tip too! Have the best weekend! xx

I live in OKC and it was fun seeing our downtown in your photos! I hope you had a wonderful time even though it was so cold last weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
We love OKC! It’s so clean, so cute, and the food is so good!
Stacey says
Shay you have sssoooo many clothes (all so cute!), what is your system to manage them, go through them and get rid of ones you aren’t into, or how do you store ones you don’t need for a while…. And then kids! How do you manage kids clothes with changing seasons and sizes.
Mix and Match Mama says
I have a lot of systems and I donate all the time. Here are things I put away in bins: all of the high school tops for my kids’ sports, anything seasonal (Halloween, Christmas, etc), cover ups, Red Sox things, heavy winter items, etc. Since I only need those things for certain seasons, they get put in a bin and packed away. I am constantly pulling things out and donating them too. My kids are easier because a few times a year, we just go in there and tackle anything that doesn’t fit them in longer and either pass it down or donate it. I just do it often so that it doesn’t become too overwhelming.
Stacey says
Thank you SO MUCH! I love this and am going to try it. I really love the point about doing it often so it doesn’t become overwhelming… That’s exactly how I landed myself! So I’ll tackle it and keep up
Sarah Cummings says
Mahogany downtown is our go to for date night! Glad you enjoyed it!
Michele says
Shay, do you still run at all, or only walk now?
Mix and Match Mama says
Right now, I mostly walk, but I do imagine that I’ll run more this summer on Nantucket. The weather is just too good and there is too much to see each day. I would say I’m 80/20 right now.
Sheaffer says
You know I’m going to comment on how cold Smith’s feet must have been because BRRRRR!
Mix and Match Mama says
Frozen!
