Happy What’s Up Wednesday!
If you’re new around here, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
So, that’s what we do.
Now, today is our “last day of school”.
I have all the feelings right now.
Our school is doing a parade where they drive by all of the students’ houses to waive goodbye…I anticipate that it will be a very bittersweet moment for the Shull kids. If it’s your last day too, I’m sending you so much love!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Last summer, we had the BEST vacation with the Slaughters! I know like so many of you, I’ve personally had to reschedule so many trips over the last few months. If anything, it’s just reminded me that in my core, I love to travel. I’ve been reminiscing a lot lately about this Greek vacation 🙂 .
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
I took some length off my hair and LOVE it! Isn’t it amazing how all of a sudden, you realize your hair is weighing you down?! I feel much lighter 🙂 .

…this Amazon dress! Not only is the length great (I’m only 5’3″ and can wear it with either sandals or wedges), but it has pockets too!! It comes in so many cute patterns and colors for a great price. I was really, really pleased with this one! It’s the same brand as…
…this dress here! Both dresses are Amazon finds, and I would never have guessed that they’re both under $25!
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
We’ve been wrapping up school. The kiddos all had their final Zoom calls, picked up their belongings and we cleaned out all of the homeschool stuff we’ve been using these last few months. Today, we have the parade and then after that, it’s officially over!
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
Right at this minute, I’m not dreading anything. I’m really excited because Ashby’s next MRI is coming up and this time, they said they don’t have to put her to sleep for it!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!! This is HUGE for us! We’re really pumped!!
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
On Sunday, we wrap up…
…with our final destination!
After that, on Monday, we’re announcing our HUGE Mix and Match Travel Agency giveaway! Details to come, but I’m really, really, really excited about it, so I hope you are too!

…I watched this and have mixed thoughts. No spoilers BUT based on what my friends said, I think maybe I should have read the book first instead? Thoughts? Opinions?

10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
Well, I tried out a new (for me!) brand and have been so pleased!!
I’ve had so many people ask me to try different workout wear other than always Athleta (I love Athleta!!). In the past, I’ve never tried Lululemon because there isn’t a store super close by and since I love Athleta so much and there is one by me, I just always went there plus, I didn’t like that Lululemon had different sizing. I’m used to walking in and knowing my size, but they have their own unique way of sizing things, so that kind of discouraged me from shopping there too. BUT I branched out and have been loving my new Lululemon finds…
…I started with these align 25 leggings (that I paired with an older Athleta top and my sneakers). Okay, I love these leggings! LOVE THEM! They’re so soft, they breathe, they hold their shape…LOVE! I’ve already washed and dried them at least 3 times and they’ve held up so well!! I bought them in a size 4 (based on their sizing chart.) The only thing I didn’t love is that I wish there was a back pocket for my fob/phone. My print isn’t available any longer, but the style is still there. I loved these so much that I asked on Instagram what else I should consider and these were the top suggestions…
…this tank! Okay this tank is so cute, and I love the style! I’ve worn it several ways both with these leggings and…
…with these shorts (again, oldies from Athleta). This top was such a great suggestion! I wasn’t sure how it would wash and dry (since it’s kind of perforated), but it’s held up just fine. I like how the bottom fits and the neckline. I am wearing it with THIS Lululemon sports bra too. Both pieces are again fours. This particular sports bra was highly recommended on Instagram as well as these two pieces here…
…their shorts and this tank. I loved both!
I still think I’m always going to be an Athleta girl, but these suggestions from you are great new additions too! So far, everything is washing and drying well, the quality seems pretty darn amazing and the sizing (when I followed their size guide) seems spot on. If there is anything else from Lululemon I need to try, let me know or if you have any tips about purchasing from them. Online, it appears things sell out quickly, is that true or is that because of what’s going on right now? I am really pleased with my pieces!!
One last thing, I wore this dress just yesterday…
…and every time I wear it, I get happy! It’s so soft and comfy!! It’s back in stock now in all sizes 🙂 .
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
We’re supposed to have a baseball tournament…I think I’ll believe it when I see it!
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
It’s Ashby’s birthday!! I love this pic of Ashby and Bowen from her birthday last year 🙂 .
Question, I need some birthday gift ideas for Miss Ashby! When I ask her, she cannot think of anything in particular…and because we have three girls, I feel like we already have all the things, so if you have any unique suggestions or things that are brand new that I haven’t heard about, please share! I’m at a loss over what to get her this year!

Our Clara and Ashby are almost the exact same age. Clara picked out her first American Girl doll for her birthday from her grandparents. This one has rainbow, really pretty hair. She’s not picky though-she’s super excited about any old American Girl. ? She’s also super into Squishmallows. Throw in some of those Ooly markers that Andrea talks about and a puzzle or book and that would be the perfect gift!
We love For King and Country for fun summer music, but I’m always on the lookout for more upbeat, clean summer songs!

Would she like a subscription to Kiwi where she would receive a crate with a topic and craft to do every month? I gift this a lot and it always ends up being a super hit. It’s fun, it’s educational, kids love getting mail and I am thinking it might be good “therapy” for the dexterity in her hands . There is an optional book which can be included with each crate and I always opt to give that as well.

This is a great idea! And Mark Rober has a super funny video out right now on Youtube where he tries to make a bird feeder that squirrels can’t access. You have to see it! At the end he has a little ad where you can sign up for a month free of Kiwi crate. I wish we could do it!

I was recently reminiscing about my childhood and found an activity I think my daughter might like…maybe Ashby would too? If she likes to design/draw/color, then this would be right up her alley. Fashion Plates…you change out different plastic “plates” to design an outfit, then flip the plates over where there’s a pattern kids can use to add some texture to their designs. There’s a regular one and a princess one I found on Amazon.

Great post! I’m very excited about the 31 Days of Getaways and can’t wait to see what other destinations you share and the BIG giveaway announcement next Monday! I’ve REALLY missed traveling too this year, so I have really enjoyed what you’ve been sharing on Facebook and IG. I wish I could give you some ideas for Ashby, but I’m having trouble myself coming up with 5th birthday ideas for my granddaughter’s birthday on June 5th. My daughter and I talked about giving “experiences” for gifts for special occasions instead of toys, but with the way the world is right now in the DC metro area everything is still closed or canceled (Paw Patrol shows, petting zoos, National Zoo, etc…). I will be reading others comments to see what they recommend for you. 🙂

Don’t put Lulu stuff in the dryer. Cant remember if a store associate told me that years ago, or if it’s on the tag, but I’ve been buying their stuff for years and never put in dryer and they’re all in awesome shape. That Lulu tank is cute!

I love your hair cut! I got mine trimmed last week and it really does make a different as to how you feel. I also got my roots done and that was a HUGE difference! For a birthday gift, what about starting charm bracelets with your girls? Like you said, they probably have all of the toys they want since they share, but a charm bracelet is something that could grow with her and is sentimental.

Does Ashby still like role playing games\Playing dolls? I know When I was her age I use to play with “play mobile” sets. They have them for all different sets for different topics like pirates or fairy’s. This is one of my current favorites.

Look into getting Ashby the Raddish cooking kit. It is a monthly box with kid friendly recipes and tools. My daughter says it was the best gift ever! Every recipe she has made has been a huge hit too!

Thank you for posting about the workout gear….have you come across any athletic shorts (Running shorts, not the basketball shorts) that are comfortable but don’t have the inner brief lining? I prefer to wear my actual underwear so the brief lining just makes it feel like too many layers…I have a pair that I got from Kohl’s 2 years ago, but I can’t seem to find any now. ?

YES! Okay, I’m the opposite, so when my new American Eagle pair came, I was disappointed but they were so cute and comfy, that I kept them to be a coverup to my swimsuit. They’re priced really well and the fabric/material is amazing!

They want LED strip lights to put around their room. They come with a remote to change the colors on them. They also want their own portable speaker to bluetooth their phone too. Amazon also has a LED shower head. It’s hydro-powered so no remote and the water automatically changes colors. My girls (16 and 12) love it. They have the LED lights in their rooms too which is maybe more fun for a Birthday than a shower head. ?

I think someone else mentioned this, but don’t dry your Lululemon items…well the leggings anyways. My daughter didnt know that and they started to pill as a result. However, Lulu is great with “warranty” on their clothing. I reported it to them, even though it had been 6-9 months of having the leggings, and they replaced them completely free of charge.

You should def read the Sweet Magnolias books. I loved them! 4 of the books are this same sort of story line. The 5th book starts with the kids being grown, pairing up, etc. I kind of liked those stories better. My favorite thing is that characters intertwined in the whole series so it wasn’t like they were just forgotten. Maybe that’s why I liked the show so much, I’m not sure. The characters weren’t like I imagined them being so I do think casting could have been different.

Lulu drops new items and/or restocks every Tuesday. So, if a color has sold out check back the following week and they may have restocked it. Like you, I’ve been an Athleta girl for years!! But, branched out last summer with their running shorts and learned that tip. 🙂

A bounce house! Check out Bounceland. We got one for the kids that had a slide on it (and the ability to use water, we don’t have a pool) and they have loved it. If we are all going to be staying home all summer it is nice to have something different for them to do! I know sometimes Ashby misses out on stuff like that for safety reasons so this would be a controlled environment for her!

I don’t know if Ashby likes building/creating. If she does, my students always love PLUS PLUS interlocking blocks and Brain Flakes. You can find tons of color variations and sets on Amazon. The PLUS PLUS blocks do come in different sizes if she needs that for her special hand. 🙂

What about one of those wooden dollhouse sets where you buy one room at a time? It would be fun for a little girl to decorate and set up the rooms. My daughter is married now, and when she was little, a dollhouse was an expense we couldn’t swing, at least the keepsake I’m referring to. Andrew is handy, and they have those beautiful Victorian and French homes that can be constructed, and then you could have the basics but add special pieces at Christmas and so on.
It would be an amazing hand-me-down one day!

My friend’s daughter has everything she needs so she makes charitable donations for her birthdays and Christmas. Oftentimes, they will take suggestions from FB and then her daughter chooses three or four to donate to. Maybe Ashby can adopt a zoo animal or something like that. They will send a certificate of adoption.

We are looking for a mother/daughter show to watch together- but I am pretty picky about what she watches when it comes to sexual innuendos, etc- not sure how PG 13 this one might be. Also- does Ashby have a hammock? Both of my kids have a Bear Butt hammock (like an Eno but only like $35). They are super easy to throw up in the backyard- they do it themselves, and then throw back in the bag when they are done. They love using them when it is nice outside!

All of my Lulu align pants have had a pocket but sometimes it is hidden in the waistband so well that you really have to look hard. It may not be big enough for your phone but definitely big enough for a key fob!

Since Ashby seems to wear ALL the hair ties on her wrist, maybe the beading kit from Accessory Concierge? (Can you keep a secret? I kinda want to order it for myself!) Another suggestion would be the Junie B. Jones books by Barbara Park. They are hilarious and as a retired kindergarten teacher I can attest to the fact that kiddos Ashby’s age LOVE them. If you want to hear a sample of a Junie B. book, during the beginning of the stay at home orders I created a FB page called A Little Birdie Read to Me and read a Junie B book and posted the video. I read and shared some others as well. I would have continued, but became more aware and concerned about copyright infringement. By the way that wasn’t meant as a plug for myself or that FB page, I just love reading and especially miss sharing that with students.

It depends on the style. I think their 7/8 style tight is super soft…sometimes, their other styles (especially if it’s a bold print) are made of a fabric that isn’t nearly as soft.

I also have 3 girls & 1 boy so I know what you mean about having all the girl stuff. If she likes coloring, we bought our 10-year-old Mindware mystery mosaics & coloring pencils. They’re fun! You can find them on amazon.

This is a new company run by a Texas mom. She makes acrylic letters in really pretty designs: sparkles, mermaids, unicorns, etc. They seem great to practice reading, spelling and sight words!
