Hey, hey THURSDAY!
You guys, what did we do before Amazon during Back to School season?
I mean, I know what we did, but for the love, can you imagine going back to that? My mom would get home from work, look at the school supply list that the teacher had sent home that day and then get back in the car, drive us to the office supply store and painstakingly go aisle by aisle with us until we had everything. Then, she’d drive us all the way back home, unload the items and help us sort it. And then Sean would tell her he forgot one thing. And they’d get back in the car and drive all the way back to the store and on and on and on and now, between Amazon and Walmart delivery, I could never leave my home.
IT’S GLORIOUS 😉 .
I have been Prime-ing my whole life lately. I will spare you the notepads, pencils, dividers, binders, glue items (we have ordered so many) but here is what else we’ve been Prime-ing this Back to School season…

I am one week in to this “back to school” thing and if we’re being honest, that’s when I’m A+ mom (come beginning of May, I’m more like C- mom when it comes to lunches). Ashby wanted these SALAD CONTAINERS and is happily allowing me to help her with her lunch…

It’s super compact and easy to throw in her lunchbox. And by lunchbox, I mean her empty Lululemon sack because apparently that’s what all middle school girls use now.
Kensington has been creating her own “aesthetic” lunches (she gets her inspo from Pinterest) and is using THESE CONTAINERS…

Mades still hasn’t started school yet, but when she does, she selected THIS CONTAINER for her lunches.

Mades has been on both a fall kick (I wonder where she gets that?!) and a puzzle kick. She loves to turn on a movie and work on a HALLOWEEN PUZZLE .

Ashby and Mades had haircuts over the weekend and the stylist used these WET COMBS on them. It was love at first brush for my girls.

THESE FRENCH TERRY SHORTS. They also come in so many colors and are so so comfy!

Both Ashby and Kensington needed new NO SHOW SOCKS this school year. They like this brand!

After my post on 10 THINGS I’M LETTING GO, thanks to YOUR recommendation, I bought myself UNOFFENDABLE. I started it this week and already really like it!

This TWO PIECE SET was an Amazon find! It comes in several other color combos as well.

I can’t quit HEALTHY FEET. It has completely changed my heels. I apply a little every time I get out of the shower/bath and my heels are never dry, flakey or cracked.

Because one can never have too many candles or too many WICK TRIMMERS.
I shared this on my Stories last week, but I managed to get my kids to share a few of their favorite back to school items this school year. If you missed it, here you go…

Amazon saves my life. I use it for nearly EVERYTHING. When I know I need something the FIRST place I check is Amazon (2nd is Walmart on line). The Amazon people literally come daily. I pretend shop a lot, too (hahaha) I scroll through items (especially books) and add to cart. Then the next day, I come to my senses, and delete or save for later. I saw a funny April Fool’s prank- you save a bunch of your amazon boxes all year (like a lot of them) and on April Fools you stack them all over your porch and then your husband comes home from work and sees all the boxes and thinks you went out of your mind ordering things. I’m too much of a Type A, non hoarder to keep boxes for a year, but it’s a funny idea. Today’s Amazon will bring a book (yay!) (The Lion Women of Tehran) and a heel/foot scrapper. 🙂

Right…. because Jeff Bezos is not rich enough!! Ha ha!!

Where do you keep your puzzles out? Do you have a cute/practical way? Haha! Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I love puzzles…but then puzzles always make everything look messy. We have a game called Wahoo that is played on a big wooden board. We pull that board out and typically build our puzzles (if they’ll fit) on that. Since it’s on the board, we can move it, lift it, etc. When the puzzles are too big for that, we typically do them on the dining room table.

I made the mistake of going to the store when my little started 1st to get all of his school supplies. Oh “it’ll be fun, first time buying school supplies! …… yeah NEVER again. Half the stuff in the list doesn’t match actual descriptions in the stores and I couldn’t find anything! We probably spent 2 hours wandering around double checking aisles and lists until we got everything. Thank GOODNESS for drive up orders and Amazon, I truly do not know how parents did it before these 😉

Ordering the no show socks for myself right now!

I love checking out all of the kids top 5s for school!! Has Smith tried Lululemon shorts? Our two sons (ages 20 and 16) LOVE them!! The Pace Breaker linerless shorts are their fav and they love Lululemon t-shirts, too! They still like Nike t-shirts but no more graphic t-shirts as they want the plain solid colors now that they’re older. I think Smuth would love the Lulu shorts as they are similar to Vuori!
I may have a junior in college and a junior in high school now, but this mama’s heart was soooo happy when I could still take them back-to-school shopping on Monday (followed up by lunch, of course!) before our oldest left for college Tuesday morning!
Mix and Match Mama says
I really don’t think he has tried the Lulu shorts. Maybe we need to though?!
Kacey says
Umm, can K make my lunches too?! That container… chef’s kiss!
Lisa D says
I do not miss back to school shopping with my kids! I did it old school too like Shay’s Mom.
I’ve been buying light fixtures and a laundry sink on Amazon for a house remodel. And running to Home Depot almost daily.

To be honest, I feel like I am always under construction and a work in progress…so happy God loves me anyway! ❤️

Love the containers, we started using those about 2 years ago, my daughter was not down with the school lunches (she is going to be freshman) and wanted salads. And she is making her healthy version of lunchables… love your blog, Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwww, well THANK YOU!!
KK says
Ha! I’m a nurse in Dallas and I’ve been taking my lunch in a Lululemon bag for years! So glad to know I’m as cool as a middle schooler. There really is no higher level!
Mix and Match Mama says
Truly, you are a TRENDSETTER! My high schooler does it too. You are WAY cool 😉 .
Kim Fox says
I would love a blog post on gluten-free lunch ideas. My daughter and I have both recently just gone gluten-free and we find that lunch is the hardest. I’m sure that you and Kensington have some great ideas!
Mix and Match Mama says
Okay, lunch is pretty easy as long as you have the right ingredients. Do you have a Trader Joe’s nearby? That’s where we found SO MANY great breads, wraps and buns that are all g-free. If not, your local grocery store should have them too. For the most part, chips are all g-free (double check, but you’ll be surprised by how many are!), yogurts, fruits, hummus, guacamole, veggies, etc are all g-free. You can do salads or pasta salads with a g-free pasta. You can find g-free cereals and granolas or cookies to add for a sweet treat and a lot of (check!) candy is actually gluten-free too!
Lisa B says
What kind of lunchbox does Smith use!? First timer in high school here and stressing😂
Mix and Match Mama says
He doesn’t use one. Smith shoves everything he wants to eat in the day into his backpack…sigh. He uses a big Yeti for his hot lunch (typically rice and a protein) and then, he’ll stick a baggie in there with a turkey sandwich, several protein bars…it’s a mess. Sigh. Sigh. Sigh.
Marisa Patel says
I added a few things to my lists and think I would like those containers to make lunches ahead of time for myself.
