Happy happy happy What’s Up Wednesday!
You guys, we’ve just about made it to the finish line of perhaps the longest month of the year. I know, I know…for those of you who live in frigid weather, January is probably the longest month of the year. For those of us who live on the surface of the sun, let me introduce you to August. It has 855 days. The fact that I started this month living on Nantucket feels bizarre to me. Certainly that was at least three months ago.

Okay, as always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Here we go…

If you are looking for a simple and very yummy breakfast treat this week…

…try my SAUSAGE BREAKFAST MUFFINS! They are perfect alone or as a side to your scrambled eggs. Bonus, you can make a batch in advance, freeze them and then just pop them in the microwave to heat up on busy mornings. Simple as that!

Awwwww…

…this time last year, our Mix and Match Travel Agency team had just returned home from our cruise! We had SO MUCH FUN!

I have been thinking about this trip a lot this week especially on the heels of…

…Brooke returning home from her own amazing cruise! (You can read all the details HERE!)
I love, love, love working with these ladies every day…and traveling with them too. We have many more trips together in our future, but this week in particular, I’ve been reminiscing about the last one.

It’s the LABOR DAY BUY MORE, SAVE MORE SALE with Colleen Rothschild right now!

I love partnering with my VERY FAVORITE skincare and hair care brand, COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD especially you can buy more, save more!

Here is just a little reminder of which Colleen Rothschild products I love and use the most (buy more, save more right now with no code!)…

…let’s start with my tried and true absolute favorite QUENCH & SHINE SHAMPOO and REPLENISH & SHINE DAILY CONDITIONER! I have said this before, but I will say this again, THIS IS THE BEST HAIR CARE I HAVE EVER EVER EVER USED. It’s in a completely different league than any other product I have ever tried on my hair.
They have also recently launched their new RENEW AND REPLENISH CLARIFYINGSHAMPOO and CONDITIONER too. These complement as “clarifying” products to the originals. If you are looking for a shampoo/conditioner to remove excess buildup/clarify/really get your hair clean between “normal” washings, this one is a great one!

Right now you can also BUY MORE, SAVE MORE on some of my skincare superstars too! We go through jars and jars of RADIANCE CLEANSING BALM to remove our makeup every single day. I also love the RETINOL SUPREME EYE SERUM, AGE RENEWAL SUPER SERUM, VITAMIN C BRIGHTENING SERUM, and VITAMIN C NOURISHING CREAM too!
It’s BUY MORE, SAVE MORE with Colleen Rothschild right now or if you only need one item, don’t forget, you can always use SHAY20 for 20% off a single item too 🙂 .

Surviving the heat and waiting for fall to officially start. We have spent a lot of time at home over the last two weeks. We’ve been in our pool…

…more this August than in the past because this year, we installed a chiller. Yup. We finally have August pool water that isn’t 94 degrees. It’s chilly and amazing on hot summer days.
We’ve also enjoyed being back on our town square…

…where it’s always festive and fun 🙂 .

Did you catch my AUGUST BOOK REVIEW yesterday?! I reviewed two novels and two non-fiction books that you might want to check out.
In September, our Book Club will be reading…

…Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall, and we’d love to have you read and discuss with us! We’ll be breaking down this book on September 22nd.

Okay, for today’s Wellness Wednesday portion of the post, I wanted to share…

…podcast episode 455 “My Work Philosophy”.
I have a little “disclaimer” before you listen though. I started listening to Tonya Leigh years and years ago when her podcast was dedicated solely to the French lifestyle. I think it was called “French Kiss” or something like that. Over the years, her brand has morphed and changed and now, it’s more about personal coaching for her and her team. I don’t listen to every single episode, but I do listen to most of them because buried within each one is usually a “nugget” that really hits home. I say “buried” because, if I’m being honest with you guys…there is often a lot of, um, “fluff” that you have to sift through to get to said nugget.
I listened to this particular episode on Saturday morning while I was lifting weights, and it really resonated with me. Yes, there is some “extra stuff” up front, but if you can get through that, I really think you’ll enjoy the main body of the episode which is about simultaneously living your best, most peaceful and rewarding life while also working your hardest at whatever “job” you’re currently doing. Whether that “job” is a career of some sort or staying at home with your kids or being an awesome grandmother…we all have roles right now that we need to show up for every day. She specifically says it’s not about “balance”. I don’t know? I really enjoyed this episode enough that I wanted to share it with you. If you’re feeling kind of blah about certain areas in your life, this might be the exact motivation you need.

Everything comfy and cool…

Like I said on Friday, I can’t quit it with MY SNEAKERS!

THESE SNEAKERS come in several different color options. I bought them in “brown multi-suede”, but there are several other color options.

Don’t they make everything look a bit more “fall”? 🙂 MY TANK does too!
I also shared another comfy fave this month…

If you need a pair of shoes to wear for all “the things” from gardening to dog walking, errands, traveling…all the things, I highly recommend my beloved Skechers

I have worn these for YEARS, and they are always my go to shoe because I can just slip them on and go

My TENNIS SKIRT has been on repeat this month…

I seriously wear it…

…all the time 🙂 .
Another comfy find…

…my super soft and cute dress! It’s only $18 and comes in so many different colors.
Speaking of which…

…THIS SOFT LOOSE TANK DRESS is so so good! I truly cannot rave about it enough! I wore it all spring in McKinney, took it to Jamaica with me, took it to Nantucket and brought it back. I absolutely LOVE it! It’s under $30 too!

I love THIS SET too!

Woohoo! We’re so excited because on Friday…

…we officially kick off FOOTBALL SEASON!
Andrew and I can’t wait for pep rallies, games, homecoming parades, and all the fall fun that comes with having kids in high school. We are oh so excited!
And finally…

I. AM. SO. READY. FOR. IT.
And that wraps up August’s Edition of What’s Up Wednesday!

Looks like a great month! I know I always get sad when summer is over, but I definitely look forward to the Fall festivities!!

Hey Shay,
As a busy mom, how do you find pockets of time to read? I am struggling!! Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, it’s 5:50 AM, and I’ve already read a chapter of my book 🙂 . I read primarily at night before bed, but I also read a little each morning and then any time I am “waiting”. For instance, today, two kiddos have dentist appointments, so I’ll read there. I’ll read in the carpool line while I’m waiting (parked, obviously before the bell rings and kids come out). Little moments always add up! They really, really do.
Kelly says
Where is that cute sweatshirt from when you are showing your sketchers shoes? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s from Free People!
Michelle P. says
A Chiller in your pool! I have never heard of such a thing. I am in Boston enjoying the 64 degrees today (sorry) , considering closing my pool this weekend because I don’t a heater in my pool! LOL.
Mix and Match Mama says
I am just so so jealous 🙂
Laci Uhrbom says
Where are your blue acid wash shorts from?! SUPER CUTE!
Mix and Match Mama says
Aren’t they cute? They’re oldies but goodies from Sezane.
Kristen says
Wow a chiller , never heard of that. But we are here in New England where we all need heaters for our pools! lol. Actually is pretty much time to close up the pool here.
Kim says
Can you share the link for the black dress with the zipper?
Mix and Match Mama says
Of course! It’s an Athleta tennis dress 🙂 https://shopstyle.it/l/ct3la

Hi Shay, I am having trouble pinning your recipes and accessing your Nordstrom links, With Pinterest I get the message regarding an incorrect URL and with Nordstrom I get a suspicious activity notice. Never had these before and it’s only with your blog. If I go direct to both sites there are no issues. This seems to have started a couple of weeks ago. I have made no changes to my laptop which is where I read your blog so was wondering if you had done something different that could be causing this. Really hope I can solve this because you have several recipes I would love to save!
Mix and Match Mama says
Hmmm, I just went and tried to both Pin and open links and didn’t have any issues on either my PC or my Macbook. I think it has to either be an Adblocker of some sort on your end or something similar (your security isn’t allowing you to open/access certain things). On my end, it’s all working. Please feel free to email me! I’m so happy to help you troubleshoot in any way that I can. That’s frustrating and annoying for you! mixandmatchmama@yahoo.com
Donna C says
Thank you so much for trying to help me figure this out! I’m not very tech savvy but I did figure out how to pin your recipes….I just go to your Pinterest board and save it from there.
Nicole says
I know you drink black coffee! So how do you pumpkin spice at Starbucks?
Mix and Match Mama says
I will have them add just one shot of the pumpkin flavoring. I don’t do it every time, but I do it enough to give me the #psl vibes. I will also certainly have a PSL a time or two this season. It’s too good not to!
Nicole says
Yess! Love that!
Joanne says
I didn’t realize they made chillers for pools; it makes sense though so many pools up here in New England have heaters or solar covers so we can warm up the water enough to make it worth having a pool!
Sheaffer says
I just placed a Colleen order with the sale… I’m low on several items and can’t risk running out!
Sarah Shaneyfelt says
I’m so excited about September and decorating for fall! We have a false fall right now in north Alabama where our morning are chilly (60 degrees), so it has me feeling fall more than ever!
Bri says
Your outfits are all so cute! I really love the brown sneakers! While I do love being back in MN, & I’m super glad that we get “real” fall, for some reason this post made me really miss living in Texas ha.
