What did the Shull family do over Thanksgiving break?
We had such a good week! I told Andrew last night that it might have been one of my favorite Thanksgiving breaks to date. We were home all week and just TOGETHER almost all of it. I just loved all of the family time.
Here are a few pics…

On Monday, we went to lunch and did a little shopping. We grabbed Starbucks and stumbled upon a cute wall, so of course, we had to take a photo 😉 .
Andrew’s parents arrived on Tuesday night, and we had a really nice family dinner all together.
On Wednesday, we all went to North Park Mall together in Dallas for lunch and to look at the festive decorations. At one point, the three girls wanted to go off on their own, and nothing makes this mama happier than watching her three daughters go off laughing and having fun together. We finished our Wednesday with dinner on our town square at Rick’s Chophouse.
On Thursday, we ate and ate and ate and ate and ate some more and also watched two football games. All eight of us stayed in our comfies and were oh so lazy all Thanksgiving day.
On Friday, we had to say goodbye to Andrew’s mom and dad, and then the rest of us Shulls headed to downtown McKinney…

…for the annual Home for the Holidays. This is truly one of my FAVORITE things to do in McKinney! (It’s #2 behind the Christmas Light Parade!)

All of the shops were oh so festive…

…they were blowing artificial snow out on the square…

…stalls selling goodies were out, mulled wine was available, it was just oh so merry.

We love Christmas in McKinney…

Mades had a fresh crepe while Ashby had root beer and then…

…we cheated death er, I mean rode the ferris wheel they temporarily had up.

Against my better judgement I went up in this thing…

…but the little two really wanted to do it, and we are suckers for those girls.

Views from the top…

We wrapped up our night…

…at The Yard for their specialty hot chocolate…

…it was INSANELY DELISH!

The Yard is always so festive!

At 6:15, we headed back to the middle of town where we asked Smith to take our photo. Sigh…

…sigh…

…after 17 bad photos on my phone, he finally nailed one. #fifteenyearoldboys
And then the city counted down…

…and lit our town’s Christmas tree. Oh all the happy feels.
On Saturday night, we decided to load up and drive into Dallas to see…

…the lights in Highland Park Village…

…which are ALWAYS my fave.
And that was our Thanksgiving week 🙂 .
Okay, should you need a gift idea or two, here were the TOP 10 FAVORITE ITEMS FROM NOVEMBER here on my blog…

Looks as if it was a great Thanksgiving week!
Thanks to you, I shamelessly had my house decorated for Christmas and it was so fun for everyone to enjoy it now as well as Christmas!

Happy December. I feel on top of my game for once. Tree is up, house decor up. Almost all gifts purchased and wrapped. Who even am I? Now I can settle in and enjoy the month. That was my goal. Yay.
Mix and Match Mama says
You are #goals. That’s who you are!
Sheaffer Sims says
All of your festive pics on the square ALMOST make me want to head down there amidst all of the crowds! 😉 And that fleece vest is so so cute!
Alison says
Looks like a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I’m glad you enjoyed making all the sweet memories with your people! Christmas time makes me so, so happy!!
Kristen says
Do you parents get together with Andrew’s parents when they are in town, how come you all don’t do thanksgiving together when they are in town? And do your kids have cousins on Andrew’s side? Just curious.
Mix and Match Mama says
It always depends on the year. This year, my parents were at Sean’s house with part of my mom’s side of the family, so we stayed at our house and did Thanksgiving/Christmas with Andrew’s parents (because we won’t see them this year for Christmas). Andrew’s brother and his wife do have kids, and this year, they spent Thanksgiving visiting their son (my kids’ cousin) out of state where he goes to school. It always just depends.
Paula Hobbs says
Sounds like a perfect holiday break to me!! Happy Monday, everyone!

Just getting caught up from last week and traveling…your Budapest posts were so fun! And a little update on the jet lag app…a total failure for me. ha! My husband was teasing me that I was acting jet lagged before we even left! Part of it was to wear sunglasses in the mornings leading up to the flight and having bright lights on at night, going to bed late, etc. The concept was interesting, but it just didn’t work for me. I did get a little gizmo that straps to your headrest and then has an attachable eye mask that DID help me sleep a little and I can never sleep on planes. I’ll attach it in case it can help someone else. But spoiler alert-I came home and slept for 15 hours so clearly it was no miracle. hahahahaha

What a fun week! It got very cold here this weekend, so no looking at lights for us yet. I’m looking forward to it though.
Amy B says
I wish I could love Colleen’s shampoo/conditioner! I use all her other facial products, but the shampoo makes my hair sticky and gross feeling. Not sure why?
Love that red jacket on you though!!
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s so weird? I don’t know either?!
Andrea says
In the picture of you and Ashby on the Ferris wheel- y’all look alike! What a great and sweet picture of you two. Both so beautiful:)
Carol says
Love the Christmas light charging cord. Got to have one. Thanks!
Arika says
To jot down on your blog idea list: this may be silly, but I would love to see a quick video tutorial on your eye patches! I odered some but they slide down on me. I think I must be applying them wrong! Happy December, Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
Make sure your face isn’t recently moisturized when you apply them. I always put mine on before I add any serums or moisturizers that way, they adhere really well.
Anna says
It is so hard to see anything in your post with the ad pop ups.:( can I turn them off?
Mix and Match Mama says
Hmmmm…I don’t know if you’re looking on desktop or mobile? You can x out of them all though!
Valerie P says
Super fun post! Especially loved the quote about how Christmas decorations are supposed to look like joy threw up all over your house. LOVE this! I like lots of decorations in every room….just makes my heart smile everywhere I look. 🙂
Debbie Keith says
So happy you had a great Thanksgiving!
Did I miss the November book review?
Mix and Match Mama says
You did not! It’s coming this week!
Kristy says
What a fantastic week! Merry December! Dis you notice Highland Park Village added lights on Mockingbird to make it even more festive?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m not sure I was paying enough attention?! It was gorgeous!
Faith Kapp says
Sounds like the perfect week! Another influencer I follow posted she was at an event where different companies set up booths. Colleen Rothschild was there and I wondered if you were there ☺️ It was in Dallas and looked like so much fun!
Mix and Match Mama says
I wasn’t but that’s so fun!
Ruby Huling says
I’m going to surprise my 11 year old with the festive charger for her iPad which has to be charged nightly for school!
Sarah says
Are you washing your Target pajamas on a cold/delicate cycle? I’ve been washing mine with my other clothes on a warm/normal cycle and I don’t feel like they are holding up as well as I hoped. I had the same issue when Target had the Stars Above brand pajamas so maybe it’s how I’m washing them.
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not. I always wash mine with all of my other things (towels, athleticwear, etc) on warm. Mine have held up great!
K.K. says
Oh the holidays!! I love that you just went for it on the Ferris wheel!! I think my “word of the year” for 2026 that I pray over is going to have something to do with leaning in… I’m trying to remember… have you ever done that? I got the idea from a Christian book, One Word. It’s a short but thoughtful read. I’ve done it for about 6-7 years and sometimes, the word I settle on means a lot to me (eg release, fortify) and sometimes I can’t even remember it by the end of the year (this year! Oops.). Ha ha
K.K. says
Word wasn’t eg… just realized i didn’t put in the e.g. 😊
Holly C says
Merry Monday!!! Great gift ideas and my husband says our house looks like Christmas threw up… HA!!! But my daughter loves it (she is 15) so I will keep on doing it as long as she loves it no matter how old!!!
natalie says
I laughed out loud when I saw the pictures Smith took! This is every picture in my camera that my granddaughter takes. So funny. Sounds like you had the loveliest week!
Genelle Pretty says
That Christmas lights wall behind you and Madeley is so beautiful and fun! It sounds like you had such a great week of family time. The best!
Denise M says
What a wonderful Thanksgiving you had! Just wondering if you have any update on the gmail issue? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s been resolved. Did you not get today’s email? I specifically looked to see if your name was still on the list (and not accidentally unsubscribed) and it was!
Denise M says
Yay! I did get today’s and yesterday’s, but it seems like the Saturday posts were the issue. Hopefully I get this Saturday’s! Thank you for checking and letting me know 🙂
Alison says
Sounds like the perfect Thanksgiving week! I love that your city/town has so many festive activities and events to attend on its square. Thanks for posting a few of the family photos from your camera roll. It’s nice to see you have some of the same struggles behind the scenes. Teenage boys are delightful. 😂

I love the vitamin c under eye patches but I’m curious…. What do you do with the small football shaped patch that makes up the rest of the circle?
Mix and Match Mama says
I use two under each eye!
