Hey, hey, Thursday!
Friends, I have a TRADER JOE’S HAUL for us today as well as a little look ALL ABOUT MY COZY READING AREA 🙂 .
I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but I had requests for more detailed “looks” into certain areas of our house, so I shared OUR LIBRARY and today, I’m sharing my favorite little spot for reading.
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always found a place to “nest” for reading and journaling. I don’t have to be at home to do this either. On vacation, I pretty much set my luggage down and immediately scope out a spot for “nesting”. I like a spot with good lighting, somewhere to set my coffee, a place to put my feet up, and a place to stack my books. I have nested all over the world, and it always, always brings me joy.
On Nantucket, I nest on the end of the couch…

…because I don’t have the extra room, I keep all of my books and pens and stuff in a packing cube inside a cabinet. Each morning, I pull out the packing cube, unzip it next to me on the couch, and settle in with my coffee.
In McKinney, I nest here…

…in the cozy reading area I created in my office 🙂 .
Come on in and have a seat with me…

I snapped these pics on a Saturday morning when I slept in later than my normal time (so you get a bit more light in these photos).
The first requirement for my cozy reading area is…my dogs. They love it too!
This spot is where I keep my Bible and the Bible studies that I’m currently working on…

…right now, I’m working my way through The Bible Recap each day as well as Kelly Minter’s study on Nehemiah. I also keep a blanket on the back of my chair because I must have a blanket when I’m sitting down in my cozy spot 🙂 .

I keep my two prayer journals in this spot as well. One journal has daily prayers and the other has lists of ongoing prayer requests.
My spot also has…

…these two books. I shared these many times before. Both are seasonal books. The Road to Le Papillon has daily inspirational passages for the entire year (I’ve done it now about four years in a row) and Evergreen takes you through the year in chapters (mid-winter, spring, summer, fall, and Christmas). I read a little from both every day for a bit of seasonal inspiration.
I also read…

…a little from my “non” novel books. I don’t always have time to read a little from each book, but if I’m slowly working my way through a wellness book, an inspirational/feel good book/any book where I buy the physical copy and don’t just use my Kindle, it goes here for me to read through. I finished Estrogen Matters in the fall, but I have kept it here because I went back and read through it/annotated it at the beginning of the year.
And of course, my cozy reading area must have…

…Sudoku. I do a little Sudoku every day. I love anything that requires my full attention (like reading a book), and Sudoku certainly does.

If there is a fireplace anywhere nearby, there’s a good chance, I’ve made my nest near it.
As you can see…

…I even stack books on my basket for my reading time…

…one can never have too many blankets by their cozy space 🙂 .
To the right of my chair…

…is my little table with MY COFFEE WARMER (a total game changer for me!)…

…as well as a spot for…

…my pens and pencil. I always swap out my pens for seasonal colors. Since it’s February, I have pink and red. These are what I use for my Bible studies and journaling. And the pencil, of course, is for Sudoku.

And lip stuff is also a must by my area too.
I used to try and keep my spot tidy because it “looks better” that way, but I gave up and realized I’d rather it be functional than tidy, so…

…I just keep my books piled on the floor next to my chair ready to be enjoyed the moment I sit down.

And that’s a little look at my cozy reading area.

It’s a favorite of the dogs’ too 🙂 .
Thank you for poppin’ in and checking it out today!
Don’t forget, I have a TRADER JOE’S HAUL for us today too!
Have a wonderful Thursday! I’ll see you back here tomorrow. xx

That looks very cozy! I love a cozy spot, too. It really is the simple joys of life that mean the most. 💗
Random – I always read your blog twice. In the morning, then later when you’ve responded to comments. I’m always glad I came back to see what You & the other ladies have added.

I love a reading nest. I do this too. When our son got married and moved out after college, I asked him if we could turn his room into my reading room. ( wanted to honor his childhood room). It’s my fave room in the house. My husband painted it a really great calming color. It has a huge window that looks outside (I can see my beloved bird feeders). Plants, candles, and a huge cozy reading chair and ottoman. I have my basket of books and devos and Bible study next to me. A pretty lamp. Hand lotion, lip balm, pens, highlighters, nail oil, and my red light face mask. I have everything I need and it’s the first place I go when I wake up each morning. LOVE.

So cozy! Wanted to say that I saw a book reviewer recommend a coffee table book, Joie, and it totally looked like something you’d like. About French joy in the every day!

I have a cozy spot too! Unfortunately because of our puppy my cozy place isn’t getting used right now! I have to sit with the pup in the kitchen for now! I look forward to the day I can get back to my cozy spot and my dog will lay quietly at my feet and sleep!! I’m surprised your cozy spot doesn’t have a candle, but it looks so comfy!

That bead bracelet on your end table is so sweet! Did one of the girls make it for you? The perfect reminder of His love!

I love this! A cozy spot is a MUST! Curious, where was your cozy spot before you built your home office? I’m trying to remember. Did you read at your desk in the laundry room or maybe in your library?
Mix and Match Mama says
It moved around many times. For a bit, it was in my bedroom, and at one point, it was in the library. I always had one, but it did change locations.

Did you see where Shannon Ables is publishing a new book this fall and it’s similar to Evergreen where you spend the year gong through it?! I feel like it’s right up your alley!
Mix and Match Mama says
YESSSSSSSSS! I can’t wait to read it!

Here’s a silly little tidbit I recently learned about myself. I have a chair similar to yours in a cozy little area in our bedroom. I love that chair but then…I found I can’t get cozy without arms on a chair! Who knew? Apparenty not me. 😂 But I’m keeping the chair, I love how it fits in our room so much!
Mix and Match Mama says
I actually contemplated that before I purchased it, but what I found is that without arms, I can sit criss cross and THAT IS AMAZING. Who knew I would love that so much?
Cori says
I’m sure you’ve mentioned it in the past, but how long do you sit in your nest before you start your day?
Mix and Match Mama says
At least an hour…more if I have time/on the weekends 🙂
Morgan says
I love a cozy spot and nest as well!! I see you have a Pura in the area (me too!) I’m sure you change your scents out seasonally, but just curious what have been your favorites across each season?
Mix and Match Mama says
You know me so well!! I just put Sea Salt in after taking out a pine one 🙂 .
