Happy What’s Up Wednesday!
February is such a short little month that this post snuck up on me.
We are already at the end of February which in my head means…it’s basically almost summer 😉 .
As always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post.
Let’s take a look at my FEBRUARY…

I wrote a blog post on our Sunday routine and in it, I shared that every Sunday we eat the exact same dinner. My entire family loves it, and it’s one less thing I have to think about at the end of the weekend going into Monday. CHEESY RANCH TACOS are always a win at our house!

On Monday, we had my EASY WEEKNIGHT BRISKET CHILI. Here’s a tip…I typically use leftover brisket, but we didn’t have any this week…so, I just bought some from a local BBQ restaurant earlier in the day and bam, it was so easy to assemble!
Last night, Andrew grilled steak, and we made steak tacos.
If I’m being totally transparent, as I’m typing this sentence, I haven’t decided what we’re having tonight. I’m leaning towards my EASY WEEKNIGHT BEEF PIE, but I really don’t know.

I have made two attempts this winter to get to Nantucket and both have been thwarted due to weather…

…and so my heart has been thinking about this place extra…

…I have no idea what’s in store for the Shull family’s schedules this summer season…

…but we are all certainly excited to get bACK.

Have you tried this combo yet?!

I haven’t missed a day of combining my DAILY MOISTURIZER with a drop of ETHEREAL GLOW SERUM (in bronze).

ETHEREAL + RENEWAL CREAM and instantly my skin has just a touch of warmth. Love, love, LOVE!
Don’t forget, code SHAY20 always gets you 20% off!

The kids are at school, Andrew is at work, and it’s just been me…

…and my pups 🙂 .
If you missed…

…ALL ABOUT MY COTON DE TULEARS this week, make sure you check out all the puppy love 🙂 .

If you’re a dog mom like me, you might need MY MUG too!

Because they really are my favorite people 🙂 .
My Monday uniform of JOGGERS + SWEATSHIRT + FAVORITE SPORTS BRA + SLIPPERS are all good finds too!

Because we’ve had such fickle weather, I can already feel the spring allergies upon us. I’ve tried so many things in the past…but nothing really seems to work. I mean, maybe it helps with the itchy eyes and constant runny nose, but it doesn’t correct the problem (it just lessens it). I’m open to suggestions! That once a day Zyrtec just isn’t cutting it…

SPRING BREAK!!!

I love Spring Break EXTRA.

I clearly love ALL of my travels, but there is just something about Spring Break that makes me extra extra happy.
It always ruins me though.
I’ll get home from Spring Break itchin’ for summer.

In case you missed it yesterday…

…it was my FEBRUARY BOOK REVIEW!
This month, I read five books and reviewed them all HERE. I had some fiction, some nonfiction, and a thriller. A nice little mix for everyone!
This month, I also watched two really good shows on Netflix…

…I watched The Comeback which is about the 2004 Boston Red Sox season. The documentary was done SO WELL! As you can imagine, I loved every minute of it.
I also watched…

…Miracle the Boys of ’80 on Netflix too! This one was also SO inspiring!
This is about the 1980 US Men’s Hockey Team, and if you’re looking for a feel good show, here you go. I wasn’t born in 1980, but I’ve always heard about that epic Olympic game when the US played the USSR. This documentary was done so well. I’m telling you, you will probably even tear up watching it. Two thumbs up!

Right this minute…

Always.

Oh so many great things this month that covered allllll the seasons…

…like an OVER-SIZED ZIP UP SHERPA WITH DEEP POCKETS.

I wore a SWEATER and jeans to run errands (these sweaters have been around forever and are ALWAYS a staple in my closet!). I have one in navy too!
The emphasis here though are my “fancy” EARRINGS 🙂 .

THIS SHERPA ZIP UP was another regular when the weather dipped back to winter.

THESE SNEAKERS, y’all! I feel like everyone is sharing them, so I was intrigued and bought a pair too. They come in so many different colors, but I decided to go neutral. They’re really cute AND so comfy!

ATHLETA JOGGERS (love) + THIS TANK (a staple) + MY DENIM JACKET (so cute, right?!) + MY SNEAKERS!

THIS JACKET is so cute! I love me a denim jacket, and I thought this bomber style was super super cute and unique from the other denim jackets I have.

Well this JUMPSUIT is just THE CUTEST, and I’ve already washed, dried and worn it THREE TIMES!
How cute is it…

…with THIS BAG from Target?!

Adorable, right?!

I love MY SWEATER! This was the only souvenir I brought home from Savannah. It’s cotton and striped and oh so soft and cute! It comes in other springy colors too, but you know my heart belongs to navy and white. Love. I love THOSE MULES too 🙂 .

I brought MY EARRINGS to Savannah too. Under $10, friends!

I love MY MULES with THOSE DARLING JEANS (in “palms” wash) and THIS CARDIGAN.

The cardigan is soft and cotton. Love.

THIS JUMPSUIT is so cute and comfy too! I love a jumpsuit because you’re “put together” while being so comfortable! This one has pockets, a cinched drawstring, and it felt like I was wearing my pjs all day.
I haven’t worn it yet, but I also got…

…the ROMPER VERSION too 🙂 .

Kensington has already asked me if she can have the raffia “dupe” sandals.

So, so cute!

The bigs are busy which means…

…the four of us are going to enjoy the weekend together! Andrew and I are trying to enjoy every minute of this time with them because before we know it, they’ll be busy too.

I may be early…

…but I’ve already made my bar cart spring-y.

I’m ready for the next season, friends!
And that wraps up this month’s What’s Up Wednesday!
If you blogged along with us, don’t forget to link up below.
I hope you all have the BEST day! I’m off to watch a McKinney Boyd High Pep Rally 🙂 . I’ll see you tomorrow! xx

Oh I can not wait for spring. I’ll happily take allergies if I can stop dealing with snow.
Ronda says
Amazon saline nasal spray at night, or any brand. It is so helpful. Tip your head back a little after you spray it. Don’t blow your nose right away. I think the aerosol sprays are too harsh.
The bunny decoration is so cute!
Bethany Gable says
You’ve got to start milling your own flour to make bread and all the things and I am telling you, it has so many health benefits- including allergies being gone! It’s so crazy but it’s true! I used to be attacked my pollen in the spring but now it’s really no problem for me!
Brandy Garner says
As gross as this seems, might I suggest using a NeilMed sinus rinse system? Each night I use the squeeze bottle version. Warm one cup of distilled water in the microwave, pour it into the NeilMed bottle using a funnel, the add a saline packet and give it a good shake before using. I also use a humidifier while sleeping. And I also use Xyxal. 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
I will do anything gross if it gets me relief! Thank YOU for the suggestion!
Leslie says
Yes! After yard work, or even a long walk outside and especially after being on a flight – a shower and a sinus rinse are the trick.
Alison says
That Raffia crossbody and Raffia sandals are all perfect for Spring! I just ordered 2 of the bags. One for my Mom and one for my daughter! Hope you have a great day!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I hope they both love them!! 🙂
Elspeth Mizner says
Have the best day! What a fun month!

I am also READY for Spring. Easter decor is out and the heater is still trying its best to keep this Floridian warm.
Sheaffer says
That Ethereal Glow Serum is a MUST HAVE product for me now!!! And I love that striped sweater from Vineyard Vines!
Mix and Match Mama says
Me too, me too!
Paige Wright says
Have you tried astelin/azelastine nose spray? It helps so much with the constant runny nose!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not! Thank YOU for the rec!
Paige E says
Ok so I am not a healthcare professional but Richmond, VA is known to have some of the worst allergy issues. My oldest son has suffered tremendously and had to quit soccer his senior year of high school because of the severity of his seasonal allergies. He is allergic to grass. So as soon as grass starts to seed, he locks up. Our allergist recommended the following regime that he starts every year around February. Maybe it will work for others and maybe not, but its the only thing that works for him when is so sick. Morning – one Allegra D 24 Hr (he does D when allergies are at its worst, regular Allegra when they are just starting or the end of the season); Bedtime – a second Allegra D 24 Hr (according to our Dr. Allegra 24 Hr has a working time of 6 hours, so for my guy it is taken twice a day) AND two pumps in each nostril of Flonase Sensimist (the only one that helps the eyes). This seems extreme, but my guy does this February-June every year and its the only thing thats keeps him from being super sick – not to be gross but we are talking eyes looking like punching bags and vomiting mucus. GROSS) Anyway, just sharing in case anyone is really struggling and wants to give it a try. May the antihistamine be with you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU for sharing this!! It is absolutely worth me trying!!
Toni:0) says
Sorry, just cannot get on that jumpsuit trend. Having to strip down to use the restroom will never appeal to me, especially up here in the bitter cold north LOL. 😂
Paula Hobbs says
I can’t wait to see the comments on allergy relief. East TX + allergies = UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one a day meds are a joke!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I agree! I never feel relief from them.
Shelby says
Allergy shots
Mix and Match Mama says
Aren’t they so time consuming though? I wish I could give them to myself at home. How often do you go?
Paula Hobbs says
Yes, please share more info on the shot. Thank you!
Sarah says
100% they are time consuming. I went to my allergist as a senior in HS and needed to figure out what my deal was. Constantly stuffy, sneezing, mouth breathing, etc. and I knew there had to be relief. My doc prescribed? recommended? (not sure the word) but got me into the weekly injections which basically is a shot of the allergen to build your tolerance up for whatever it is that you’re allergic to. My kickers are dust mites, pollen, and some grass things from the prairie here in SD. Anyways- I was on these shots ONCE A WEEK FOR 4 YEARS! And you have to go into the office in case of a reaction. Your injection basically gets a slow increase until you use up that bottle of serum and then you get a new bottle, that is a little stronger. And then once you hit 4 years, you’re at maintenance for a bit to make sure your body is ‘changed’. And that is when you can start that at home, if your doc allows it. I did it all throughout college and it was a pain to get the vials transferred from campus doctors to my home doctors during the breaks and summers Ha! But I will say I am usually fine now. I still take a zrytec a few times a week, but on the daily I usually waje up fine and not stuffy. Moral of the story- it’s a commitment. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m not sure I have it in me…
Shelby says
Yes, very time consuming initially, but now I don’t suffer at all so 100% worth it to me. I respect everyone has different thoughts on them.
Nicole says
I’m so opposite of you with travel, but it’s one of our goals – to travel more! I know you’re a routine girl, but you do so well with vacation and fun. Do you ever come back from travel bloated, puffy and not feeling optimal? What do you do when you want to “get back on track”? Is it all mindset? Or is it habits, daily disciplines? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
You are always a girl after my own heart, Nicole! Okay, honestly, I never think about it, so it must not be affecting me that much. I keep up my workouts when I travel (the best that I can), I still try and drink a ton of water and eat a lot of protein, but honestly, I just love traveling so much that I come back feeling energized. I have great routines in place at home, so it’s easy to jump right back into those too. I indulge in things when I travel…but I also get more sleep, a lot of steps in, and I get to relax…so it all kind of balances itself out. I never want to be so restricted in my routines that I miss out on something that brings me such joy…and traveling brings me such joy 🙂 .
Kelly W. says
My son has terrible seasonal allergies and the combo that has worked best for him is one Zyrtec 24 hr. in the morning, along with a vitamin C tablet and two pumps of Flonase in each nostril. Vitamin C is a natural antihistamine and combining it with a daily allergy medicine amps the effectiveness. A nurse recommended this to us and it has worked wonders for him! We live in NC and start him on this daily routine by mid to late February to get ahead of allergy season here. I hope you get some relief soon!
Mix and Match Mama says
THANK YOU!!
Erika Slaughter says
Not too early at all! We’re gonna get back from Spring Break and BAM-Easter will be here!
Amy says
I guess everyone is pretty much feeling the same…bad allergies! they have never bothered me as bad as they are this year. I know in Oklahoma tree pollen has been high so maybe that is my problem. I will be trying some of these recommendations, that is why I love your blog!
Cher says
I remember the days of horrible allergies when I lived in Wisconsin and Arizona. After moving to San Diego County in the 1980s, my allergies have been almost nonexistent. I am so thankful for this.
Mix and Match Mama says
You are living the GOOD LIFE out in San Diego!!
Betty Miller says
How do you keep your bar cart level?
Mix and Match Mama says
My rug isn’t super thick, so I’ve never even thought about it not being level. It must be off just a bit, but I can’t tell.
Gail Young says
During allergy season I use a NetiPot with saline solution (made from an included NeilMed salt packet and water that has been boiled and then cooled). I just do it in the shower during my morning and evening routine. If I’ve been outside during the day, it is a must to wash my hair again at night AND to use a clean pillowcase. I also have 2 air purifiers running in the rooms I use the most. I was surprised at how much this helped! My Dr. told me to switch up my over the counter allergy meds, use a nasal spray, drink tons of water, itchy eye relief drops (a life saver for me). One note: my dentist doesn’t like me using all the antihistamines because it dries out your mouth, even with staying as hydrated as possible. I guess we just have to choose our battles.
I’ve always wondered one thing about your bar cart…..how in the world do you keep a bowl of adorable seasonal candies just sitting there with 4 kids in your house??? Years later, my kids still laugh that I tried and failed at that cute idea!
Mix and Match Mama says
They eat it and I refill. Bahaha! Yup. Sometimes, I’ll stick something in there that they’re disinterested in (random things, I never do it on purpose), but many times, they eat it up.
Ashlea says
Would those amazon sneakers be comfy enough for Europe this summer? I also try to look but have to be comfy with all the walking!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
YES!!
Cher says
Do the sneakers have arch support?
Mix and Match Mama says
A little bit. They sole is pretty thick, so you don’t feel like you’re walking on the ground. They’re pretty darn “cushy”.
Hope says
Hey Shay!!
Have you tried local honey?I try s teaspoon of local honey daily, it is supposed to help lessen your allergies. You need local honey, because it container allergens in your area. Also, have you tried montelukast or Singulair is the brand name? That is for allergies and my 10 yr takes it nightly. Her allergies so far havent been as bad as they usually are but we are having asthma flare ups. We live just outside of Richmond VA and the spring and fall allergies here are pretty rough. Hope you find something that works for you soon!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you, thank you for the tips!!
Valerie says
Yes–I take Singulair alongside my allergy meds and nasal spray. It helps so much.
Natasha says
Flonase saved my life last year with spring allergies. It’s expensive but totally worth it. It was a blog friend recommendation and honestly, maybe one of the best things to come out of having a blog!!! I also take 24 hour allergy relief every 12 hours but it was Flonase that made all the difference.
Heather Green says
I bought a pair of the sneakers and love them. So comfy and now going to buy more color variations to share with my daughter!
Emily says
Okay, heading up to the attic to get out the Easter decor right this minute ✝️🐰🐣🌷
Emily Smith says
I recommend Astepro nasal spray. It has helped my flare ups. I think it’s fairly new. Works much better than other antihistamines for me.
Cris says
I’m late to comment because I was in Florida for a Spring Training game 🙂 but I wanted to mention that Melissa Crenshaw has an allergy protocol, if you’re willing to give homeopathy a try! https://melissacrenshaw.com/homeopathy-at-home
Cris says
Also, If you do use homeopathy, I’d love to read a post about it!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not dipped my toe into that yet.
