Happy Wednesday, friends!
I’m sharing a little GRATITUDE + CALENDARS in our Wellness Wednesday post today, so make sure you pop over and check that one out. I also uploaded all the random pics I took while on Nantucket this week and dropped them below should you want to visit along with me 🙂 .
Andrew and/or I try to get on island once a month during the off season to check things out and due to some February weather, my dates got pushed back until March 1st.
Here’s a little look…

On Sunday morning, I landed in snowy Boston.
Goodness, I love me some Boston.
Opening Day is this month!!
I walked from a big jet over to Cape Air to hop on…

…a prop plane. About 50 minutes later and hello, Nantucket!

Nantucket is so small that you can see the whole thing from the sky which is always fun because you can really see that iconic shape.
I landed around 2:00 and took a cab home…

…and immediately put on something warmer. It was cold and gray and a bit snowy outside.

It’s always so good to be bACK 🙂 .

My first stop was to pop in Bartlett’s Farm to grab just a few things and then…

…I headed to Main Street to grab coffee and walk a bit.

A very sleepy Main Street in March.

The restaurants and shops are all almost entirely closed up for the off season.

No boats and a little snow…

I took my coffee and made my way home…

…this guy was blocking my driveway.
Later that night, I headed into town to grab dinner at…

…one of the few places that stays open year around. My favorite time to dine there is always the winter because…

…they have a fireplace inside. Lucky me, my table was right next to it on Sunday night!

My Kindle, yummy food and a fire for the win.
On Monday morning, I woke up to get coffee and found…

…three of these guys in my backyard.
After my quiet time and a bit of work, I went to the gym, ran a few errands and then…

…it was a chilly yet SUNNY day, so I popped back into town for a second cup of coffee…

…I listened to my favorite Texas sports radio station and walked around town “getting my steps in” before heading back home to work.

I love a cold, sunny day. Here are a few more pics…

After lunch, I drove out to Cisco Beach and walked one mile up…

…and then one mile back. I would walk on the beach every day if I could.

I decided to indulge in takeout and TV for one for dinner. Because how often do I get to do THAT in life?!
One last stop into town to grab food to go…

…and then I watched Below Deck and ate dinner. It was delightful!
The next morning…

…I headed back to Dallas.
And those are some pics from my time this week on Nantucket 🙂 .
Okay, don’t forget, today, I also have a post on GRATITUDE + CALENDARS, so make sure you check that out today too.
I hope you have the BEST BEST Wednesday! I’ll see you back here tomorrow! xx

Your trip seemed so calm and peaceful! This may sound like a crazy question, but when you or Andrew are unable to make it to your home, do you have someone who can start your cars for you or check on things in your house?

We do have people we can call on if we need that kind of help!

Aw!
I love this so much!
So quaint and happy!
Thanks for sharing!

Good morning Shay, thank you so much for the wonderful photos. Being in Nantucket is so magical in winter. I’m looking forward to your spring pictures! What’s it like traveling through Boston this time of year? For example, how long was your trip door to door yesterday? I love following along!
Mix and Match Mama says
I left my house on Nantucket at 6:00 EST and should have been through my door in McKinney at 3:00 CST, but the plane that was supposed to take me from Boston to Dallas had mechanical issues and needed a new part. It was supposed to have taken off at 10:30 and didn’t take off until 6:30. Going to Nantucket though, I left McKinney at 5:00 CST and was at my house at 2:30 EST.

Looks like a great getaway and relaxing couple of days. I saw a Nantucket baseball cap at Abercrombie & Fitch and immediately thought of you! I hope to visit there with my family someday.
Paula Hobbs says
What a sweet, calm and charming trip. I know as a mama it did you some good to be alone for a minute. Thank you for sharing!

I love seeing a glimpse of Nantucket in the winter when it’s so quiet and peaceful! Are there certain tasks you do when you go to check on the house, or is it mostly just to run the water and start the cars etc?
Mix and Match Mama says
Those things for sure! One time, Andrew went and there was a bug infestation…so sometimes, things pop up you aren’t expecting. We’ve made a trip up there before to have a new washer/dryer installed…just tasks, things. It’s nice because this is the first year we haven’t had a construction project going on in the off season. Those years required more attention to detail.
Laura Crenshaw says
Are there many residents that live on Nantucket year round? I just was curious! Certainly a place that I want to visit. What time of year do you recommend to visit for a 1st timer?
Love your posts!
Mix and Match Mama says
The island only has a population right at 20,000 during the off season. It’s very small. A first timer for sure visit in July, August or early September.
Nades says
So what things did you check on regarding the house? From this post, it seems like you just ate, walked around, and worked.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well, we run a business there, so I had some things to do regarding that. As far as the house, we had some packages that needed to be collected and put inside/stored, I wanted to make sure all of the plumbing was working after the blizzard/no damage to the shingles, patio furniture, etc., checked on the cars and removed debris…just things like that. A trip out to the dump…a bunch of little things.
Jen says
Good morning Shay! What is the name of the business you operate on Nantucket?
Mix and Match Mama says
ACK Infusion
Christina Keller says
Hi Shay! I have a question… If you had eight days, where would you take your family to visit this summer? We’re traveling with our 19-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter as well as my husband and I. I just cannot nail down where to go!!
Mix and Match Mama says
The travel agent in me has so many questions 🙂 . Do you all have passports? Are you thinking international or domestic? Do you want to go somewhere warm and sunny or are you escaping the heat? Do you want to chill and relax or be busy and active? And what is your budget? Feel free to email me if you want to hash out options together 🙂 . mixandmatchmama@yahoo.com
Elizabeth says
I LOVE going to Nantucket with you! I missed it if you shared about your business on the island – what is it? That’s so cool! Hope you have a wonderful week!
Mix and Match Mama says
We own a mobile IV business there!
Sara Alexander says
How fun, getting to escape so often to your favorite place! I see why eating out while your there for a short time makes sense. Do you keep much in your pantry when your not there? Also, are your immediate neighbors year-round people or seasonal like you?
Mix and Match Mama says
We do keep some shelf staples in the pantry, fridge and freezer. We lost power for about 36 hours during the blizzard, so I did refresh some things from the fridge when I was there. I have a variety around me. I have two sets of neighbors who are year around and one set that goes to Nantucket every weekend year around (but works in Boston during the week) and then seasonal neighbors.
Anna says
Looks like you were the only person on the island this week! Does it feel that way there this time of year?
Mix and Match Mama says
It is the exact opposite of what it feels like over the summer…so the best of both types of worlds!
Laura Holmes says
We love Brotherhood of Thieves! It’s so comfy in there. It’s wild to see the island so calm and the beach so empty. Can’t wait for summer! This year we’ll be back in Chatham and I’m so excited.
Ellen says
I love beach towns in the winter!
That being said, that sunny day looks soooooo happy compared with the gray day. (I live in the northeast. We’re over the gray skies.)
Kimberly Beth Arnwine says
Complety understand you make money off the ads on your page, but there is one in the top corner, one in the bottom corner, and then a large one at the bottom, and then one between every paragraph. You can’t scroll without clicking one because if you X out, they pop back up, or your are scrolling and accidentally click one. It is now way too frustrating to read your page. Just a heads up how the ads lay on an a phone – it is crowded.
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU for letting me know!!
