I usually say Happy Friday, but today, the Shulls’ happy meter isn’t reading a lot of “happy”.
We had to leave Nantucket.
Boo.
Ha!
I took this yesterday morning…

…good morning, Nantucket! I was put in the co-pilot seat of the plane. I like this seat because the views from the front are fantastic…I don’t like this seat because I feel that in the event of an emergency, I will have to respond first. And by respond, I mean go into complete panic mode.
We are all home (all people, all pets) to tackle a big week ahead. Smith has football things to do, Ashby is turning 14, Mades has Vacation Bible School, and Kensington is getting her wisdom teeth removed. This morning.
Needless to say, some of us are going to have more fun this week than others 😉 .
That being said, I hope YOU have a fabulous Friday!
As always, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and wishing you THE BEST WEEKEND!

My first Fave this week was…

…all of that Nantucket time 🙂 . We had beautiful weather and enjoyed every minute of it. They call it June-uary, but so far, it’s been pretty darn amazing. The girls and I walked to town and needed to get Charlie a new harness. We stopped by Pawsitivity, our favorite shop for collars and leashes, (owned by one of our favorite people!) and got him this handsome harness with Ford Broncos on it. He knew he looked good.
Just a few random pics from the week…

You know I’m a sucker for a TENNIS SKIRT! This one is oh so extra cute!
TENNIS SKIRT + GAUZE TOP + SANDALS (currently 63% off!)

I love the banding at the top. It comes in WHITE too.

Love my littlest and her mismatched socks.
Speaking of love…

…THIS SKIRT for the win! I have it in white, but it comes in other colors too.
We headed to the beach on Wednesday…

…BEACH SWEATER + LINEN PANTS + SANDALS + MY TOTE for the win. It was a spectacular day. The weather was perfect.

Last Friday, I was in McKinney for our final…

…cheer camp! After a week of camp, on the last day, parents can attend and watch the girls perform. It feels like YESTERDAY that we were…

…at her freshman cheer camp.
This time, when they had the seniors stand up at the end of camp…

…my kid was standing. Agh! Where did the time go?!

All three teams (Freshman, JV, Varsity) did fantastic! We are super, super proud of these girls!

Last week, I shared this pic…

…and received so many questions about Mades’ cute sweatshirt. I pulled out her other patriotic finds and snapped a pic for you…

So so cute, right?!
From left to right: WHITE JEANS, LOBSTER TEE, BOW TEE, BOW SHORTS, WHITE SWEATER, FLAG SWEATSHIRT, STRIPED DRESS

I get asked allllllll the time for Ashby’s book recs. This girl reads more than anyone I’ve ever known. She is constantly reading. In August, I shared some of her recent reads in THIS POST, but I just asked her to please share another round. If you have a teen looking for a book, here are some more of Ashby’s picks…

THE LOVE & PAPERBACK (SERIES)
ONCE UPON A BROKEN HEART (SERIES)
CARAVAL (SERIES)
THE INHERITANCE GAMES (SERIES)
THE NATURALS (SERIES)
THE BOOK THIEF
PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS (SERIES)
And finally…

…it wouldn’t be June without…

…my SIMPLE SUMMER PASTA SALADS!
I love, love, love a pasta salad during the summertime. Check out all of my easy, yummy, and super flavorful options HERE.
Cheers to the weekend, y’all! I hope you have the best, best day. I’ll see you back here TOMORROW! xx

My son got his wisdom teeth out last week. Pineapple juice is great for the swelling. Have a couple cups a day. I alternated Tylenol and Advil every three hours instead of the pain medicine they gave him to stay ahead of the pain. He’s also using my red light mask It went fantastically. I hope Kensington has just as great an experience (that one can have having mouth surgery). Good luck K.

Also zip like bags of ice in the bottom of two long socks, tie ends together so she can put around neck and snuggle them agains her cheeks.

Prayers for the teeth removal that the healing process goes smooth!! When I had mine done I told my mom I don’t want them to take all my wisdom. 😆 Maybe a future post will be shows and movie recs. 😆 I know the new JLo rom com comes out today. We have been slowly going through the TV show the Middle our youngest hasn’t seen it. We are caught up on Paradise, Night Agent, Man Undercover. Another fun series to watch is Hazardous History. Just remember to ice, swish and eat really soft foods. I had mine pulled before Easter…so I had Mac & Cheese that was cooked a little longer for my dinner. 😆
We have a grad party this weekend..I am with you where does the time go!
Have a great weekend!

Was wondering how you figure which books are age appropriate for Ashby to read. When we walk into the library I find it overwhelming for my daughter to get a book without me reading it first. I don’t want to read every book before she does. LOL
Thanks for your insight.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh I find it overwhelming too, and sometimes, we don’t pick correctly. The best place for our recs are recommendations from other moms and friends. We have one “mom friend” who is a 7th grade English teacher, so she’s extra helpful. I always Google book titles and read the reviews, but this girl reads SO MUCH that it’s hard to do all of the due diligence every single time.

Our Kiddo enjoys the City Spies Series, Sherlock Society, and Framed series all by James Ponti. Also, enjoyed Dead City series… This one is a little more detailed in some of the stuff…may want to pre r as that one. But I have read all… They were kids working on solving mysteries or finding the bad guy. Working together because they all have different strengths. Sherlock Society that group.has their grandfather who was a new reporter as their “driver” and helps them.

If you have TikTok, follow Meet Me in the Media Center. She is a middle school libararian so plenty of suggestions that are appropriate for middle schoolers!

The Book *THIEF – i before e, except after c 😉

Why does my spellcheck fail me so often?! 😉

What a fun week for the Shull’s! Prayers for a speedy recovery for K! Have a great weekend.

My middle daughter loved the Percy Jackson series!! Rick Riordan used to live not to far from us and would visit school libraries in the area. I need Mades’ new clothes in adult sizes!

Enjoy K’s senior year! It’s crazy how quickly it goes.
Kristi says
Prayers for Kensington – lots of ice and stay on top of pain! She will do great!
Alyssa says
Book rec for Ashby! Once Upon a Broken Heart (3 book series) by Stephanie Garber. Tell her it’s the same author as Caraval!
Faith Kapp says
Hope Kensington does well with the teeth removal! Sounds like a busy week!

Would appreciate any and all tips for wisdom tooth removal and recovery. Heading for my teen in 2 weeks so looking for all info.
Kelly says
I hope you’ll share any tips from wisdom teeth surgery if your daughter is okay with you sharing – mine will have it done this summer too! (All I can remember from mine is eating lots of scrambled eggs and watching the Tv show Alias on DVD!)
For books – my daughter is also a very prolific reader, also about to turn 14. She loves:
– School for Thieves
– City Spies or any books by James Ponti
– Keeper of the Lost Cities
– Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes
– Alan Gratz history series
to name a few!
I really like the blog Everyday Reading as a source for book recs too – her daughters are similar ages and she has SO MANY book lists!

Please feel free to share any tips that help with wisdom teeth recovery. My 17-year-old daughter gets hers out in 3 weeks!
K.K. says
Oh, Kensington, hope she heals up so fast!! I remember, back in 199? something, that I had mine removed, used a lot of ice packs, and the second evening after it, I went to watch Titanic with my friends. ha ha… Still on some pain meds, so it was quite an experience in the theater!
Also, maybe I’m behind, but you look a little blonder again? Yes?? You know, I just really like your hair both ways. Beautiful!
Mix and Match Mama says
No, that was just a photo from four years ago 😉 .

I have to laugh, when you said if your teen needs a book recommendation. As a 50’s adult women who has recently got back into reading, I actually read some of Ashby’s last must reads, and highly enjoyed the Once Upon a Broken Heart series, Caraval series and the Inheritance Games series. I loved them all 🙂 After Ashby’s suggestion I will definitely check out the The Naturals series for my next read. Thanks Ashby!

My daughter had hers removed on Wednesday. Lots of icing! Everyone will go well!
CindyG says
If she cries all day, it is perfectly normal for girls. My oldest who never cries in surgeries, cried all day and they told us that it hits girls different with the anesthesia that is used affects girls different and boys do not respond the same. I would be like, are you pain and she would reply, no, I do not know why I’m crying. I did not allow her to drink from a straw for two weeks until we saw the surgeon, I was so afraid of dry sockets.
jillian says
best of luck to your daughter getting her wisdom teeth out. i had my wisdom teeth out when i was 18. the pain is awful. wish her a speedy recovery.
Debra says
Wishing Kensington a quick recovery.
