Happy Thursday, friends!
Well, after FOUR YEARS of saying, “We should go check out the Trader Joe’s in Hyannis”, we finally did it!
This week, I checked a “to do” off our Nantucket list, and thus we have a…

…TRADER JOE’S: HYANNIS HAUL 🙂 .
You guys, it was SUCH a fun little morning!
I’ll walk you through the logistics, and then we can get to our “haul”.
As I’ve mentioned before, there are not “chain” things on Nantucket, so needless to say, there is not a Trader Joe’s. I’ve also shared many, many, many times that I love to support our local markets and grocery stores like Nantucket Meat & Fish and Bartlett’s Farm. We love them both and shop there all year long.
That being said, over on “the mainland”, there is a Trader Joe’s in Hyannis, Massachusetts…

…I just took this screenshot of my map so that you can see. There’s me (right now!) on Nantucket and 30 miles away is Hyannis.
Hyannis is where you pick up either the fast ferry or the slow boat to get to Nantucket (or the Vineyard).
Needless to say, I’ve been to Hyannis a gazillion times, and I’ve always seen the Trader Joe’s but haven’t stopped and shopped.
Last year, the girls and I went on a little “adventure” over to Hyannis to check out Target and the mall, so this year, we decided to try Trader Joe’s.
Is it practical to go to Hyannis to grocery shop? No. Was it a fun adventure for this summer season? Yes!
I looked at the weather forecast and determined that Tuesday would be a great day to cross. The last thing we needed was to cross over and then get stuck in Hyannis because of wind/rain.
I bought three tickets on the first ferry from Nantucket to Hyannis for Tuesday morning which meant we were up early and…

…at the ferry terminal by 7:15 AM ready for the day!

Here we are in line ready to board the boat! We had already dropped off our Yeti backpack to be stowed on the boat. Inside the Yeti backpack, I had added two large baggies full of ice and three reusable shopping bags.
Right at 7:30…

…the 6:30 AM Hyannis to Nantucket boat pulled up, unloaded, and we got on board…

…we found a table and were ready to go for the hour crossing.
How did I pass the time?
Well, it was a gorgeous, gorgeous day which meant the water was super smooth and I…

…got coffee from the little boat cafe and read my book.

The girls packed headphones and watched a movie.
One hour later and we had arrived…

…in Hyannis!

We got off the boat, retrieved our Yeti backpack, hopped in an Uber, and about 7 minutes later…

…we were at Trader Joe’s!
Our game plan was to focus on beach/pool snacks. We can get all the meat, dairy and produce we want on Nantucket, so we thought it would be better to get the unique Trader Joe’s snacky things to take to the beach and pool.
Here’s a little look at what we found at the store…

…they had so many seasonal strawberry finds that spoke to my heart…

…hello? Delish!
We shopped, we checked out, we loaded our three reusable sacks and Yeti backpack, we walked directly next door to Starbucks and got drinks (another mainland perk!), and then hopped in another Uber to head back…

…we stowed our groceries and headed to the boarding line.
We waited about 35 minutes and then it was time to board…

…and head back across the Atlantic on the 11:20 ferry.
We disembarked and were home by 12:45 🙂 .
You guys, it was such a fun little morning with my youngest girls. We laughed and laughed and just had the sweetest time together.
BUT WHAT DID WE BUY?!
Some really yummy things 🙂 .
Here’s a look…

…Mades grabbed these to enjoy for breakfast. She had one yesterday morning and loved it! She said it was like a really fluffy pancake. She enjoyed hers with Nutella.
I added these to our cart…

…because you know I’m obsessed. These are so good on a charcuterie board or just as a snack. Love.

Of course, we needed their sunscreen!

I always buy Trader Joe’s olive oil, but this one here (I think!) is new. It comes in a squeeze bottle. Brilliant!

My girls all love the beauty products at Trader Joe’s and picked up these three items to take back to Nantucket.
At one point, Ashby found this and was like “MOM!”…

…IF YOU KNOW ME, YOU KNOW. I love anything GUAVA!! It’s really hard to find any sort of guava-like juice, so this one made me extra extra happy!
And look what else…

…was it my lucky day or what?!

The perfect beach snack!

Salty dark chocolate is my jam!
An obvious “add to cart” for the beach…

… 🙂 .
I bought this…

…candle for the kitchen. It smells amazing!

I don’t know how to describe these, but they’re delicious. Root beer has always been my favorite type of soda. Add it with a vanilla sandwich cookie and what you have is pure genius.

Always a fave.

These are delicious for snacking!

I couldn’t resist this! I sprinkled it on my sliced avocado Tuesday at lunch, and it was so so good!

Already in my beach bag!

Charlie was a big fan!

I once named these my #1 favorite Trader Joe’s item OF ALL TIME. They are oh so very delicious.

If you love lime, grab a bag of these bites! They are very very lime and oh so delicious! These were my personal favorite find of June!

They are oh so very subtly sweet. Delicious.

I eat these like candy. So good!

Mades swears these are better than any other type of granola bar.

My kids love to snack on any sort of cheese and meat combo. We picked up a package of these and…

…some prosciutto which I told them they could snack on a little, but we were going to also use it for our CRISPY PROSCIUTTO AND MELON SALAD (so so delicious!).

One can never have too much truffle cheese!
And finally…

…because the Texans in us can’t resist 🙂 .
And that was our Trader Joe’s Hyannis Haul for JUNE!
Whew!
What a fun, fun, FUN day to find so many yummy treats.
Alrighty, spill the beans, what are you buying at Trader Joe’s this month? I would love, love to know!
Happy Thursday, friends! I’ll see you back here tomorrow. xx

Sounds like such a fun day! Did you see any 4th of July or red, white and blue things?!? Can’t wait for my next trip!
Mix and Match Mama says
I saw some, but honestly, I saw more when I went in May.
Abby says
What would you get done next if you had to pick? Your ear stack looks so cool and is great piercing inspo.
Mix and Match Mama says
I really don’t know? I think I’m done, so I haven’t thought about it.
Lori Bittenbender says
My son loves the root beer float pieces! Also, I finally found the buffalo meatballs you had blogged about previously at my local Trader Joes. So yummy!
Mix and Match Mama says
Aren’t they so good? They’re quick to heat up for lunch too!
Abby says
I love that TJ’s in Hyannis! Off topic but were you tempted to get another piercing with Ashby when she got her ears pierced again for her birthday?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m always tempted to get another one. Ha! Right now, I forget I have them, so I would kind of hate to get a new one and have to babysit it.
Susan P Fitzpatrick says
Fun trip! I love those mango slices too! I buy their rectangular shape pizza crusts and put fresh sliced mozzarella and sliced tomato on them and bake that. After baking, add fresh basil and balsamic reduction drizzle. One of those yummy Trader Joe’s recipes I could eat once a week 😋
Mix and Match Mama says
Well that sounds delish!
Amanda Wilson says
I am so excited to be coming down from Canada and hit a Trader Joes!! I will be writing down alll these ideas to make sure I don’t miss anything!! 1 more week of school/work (I am and EA)

What a sweet day with the not so littles. They are growing up way too fast! Every time I see a current pic of Ashby, I think of that sweet little pigtail picture of her when she was itty bitty.
Mix and Match Mama says
Wasn’t that just yesterday?!
Elspeth Mizner says
So glad you got a Trader Joe’s haul in even on Nantucket!

What a fun post! Thank you for sharing your fun morning with us! 😎

I purchased the lemon scented candle too. It’s so pretty and smells good. They still have peonies at my Trader Joe’s so I keep buying them each week. Also on my weekly list – their mini yogurts. They are the perfect size to put in my smoothies.
Laura Holmes says
I didn’t know TJs did sunscreen! Have you used it before? I’m religious about using it on my lips. They get so dried out if I don’t and the lip sticks can be hard to find. Running to grab some asap! Writing this from Chatham. Here on our yearly trip and loving this beautiful weather for June! Enjoy Nantucket!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! Blog readers told me maybe two summers ago to start buying it, and now, I always do.
Casey says
Okay, you have to try the pretzels sticks you got with the Unexpected Cheddar Pub Cheese (in a tub). It tastes exactly like handy-snacks that we ate as kids.
ElaineDavis says
Ohhh… if you like guava, you have to try Synergy brand Guava Goddess kombucha! Ingredients are “organic raw kombucha and guava puree”! I buy it from Aldi, but I’m sure you can find it other places.
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOUUUUUUU! I love love guava!!
Stacie says
I didnt know they had sun screen – Thanks!

I love how much fun you guys have doing even simple things! You often mention how much you laugh together – I’d love to bring my laughter into our lives. Any tips (maybe a new Shay’s Ways post?)? What do you laugh about? My kids are older and we travel as much as possible, have deep convos, love art/sports/music/theatre and enjoy many similar things but I’d never describe a day as full of laughter and would love to be able to! We are not fans of dad jokes, potty humor, or fail army/oh that hurt type humor. Maybe we need to take life less seriously?!?!
Mix and Match Mama says
Hmmm…I’m sitting here thinking about it. I don’t know exactly? I grew up in a house that laughed all the time. In fact, I’ve talked to my dad twice on the phone today and my mom once and laughed all three times. I don’t know that it’s joke telling (because that doesn’t sound like us) as much as just a lightness we kind of have. I guess we don’t take ourselves too seriously. The girls and laughed at all sorts of random things…it was just a light and happy kind of day. Not perfect but enjoyable.
Christin says
Have you seen their Peony candle? So good.
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve seen it, but I haven’t purchased it. I will next time!
Beth Valenta says
My Trader Joes go to: ceasar salad kits, turkey meatballs for sliders, salmon burgers (so easy), evoo, organic jasmine rice, and my favorite it the organic popcorn with evoo. A must have for summer movies. I always get cards and change out my clear frame with a different theme/quote each month on my kitchen counter.
Amy Owens says
If you like guava and drink electrolytes in your water (I try to make sure I have one each day), Taylor Dukes Wellness has a guava grapefruit one (all clean ingredients) that’s yummy!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank YOU!!!
